Can my 80 friend help with my story quests?
no cap, you guys just have to have picked the same story lines.
… I think, someone correct me if i’m wrong.

Odd, I joined my friend as an 80 sylvari during his human personal story. I wouldn’t recommend doing it really – you will get no challenge when your 80 friend demolishes everything. Even scaled down – he is still massively stronger.
You don’t have to have picked same story line even. Just be in the same group, in the same region. At the very least you have to be in the same map. You might also have to be within a certain distance, not too sure on that though. I have had it happen where I enter a story mission close to Black Citadel and group members over by Cadem Forest (other side of map) don’t get the prompt.
So just try again with them closer to your story mission entrance, see how you get on. I will be ingame in about 30 minutes, if you have no online to test it with, give me a shout, will be happy to help test it.
Oh, and there is definitely no level cap. My main is 80 and has helped Guild members on several quests around lvl 40 and lower.
Yes your L80 friend can join you in your story quests, he only has to be on the same map as you when you enter it and he will be prompted to join you (he can refuse it if he wants).
There is no restriction on race/class etc for this.
He was standing right next to me when I entered the quest and he did not get the popup to join. I’ve heard maybe there are a few that are only for yourself to do alone, but surely there wouldn’t be 3 of those in a row. Maybe there was just a bug at the time.
Perhaps it was a bug or some super special story mission. (I forgot to mention you have to be partied up, I assumed you were in a party with him)
Me and my friends have never encountered any issues getting into each others story missions.
There is a bug that sometimes prevents party members from joining your story missions. Same thing that also causes problems with party members in overflow, I hear. You can try leaving the zone, then coming back and trying again, or relogging and trying again.
