Blinding dissipation
Blinding Dissipation actually blinds around the mesmer instantly once they activate their shatter ability. The illusions don’t apply it to you. Because shatters are instant cast, you would have to predict the shatter and dodge to have a chance at avoiding the blind, a la dodging thief’s steal.
So, there’s basically no counterplay to it? That’s just stupid.
Edit: It actually hits you during your evade frame, so I don’t think there’s any way to avoid it.

In a game were conditions are side effects to basicially every thing, you are going to cry because you can’t evade a single blind? Just AA and get over it.
Allthough you should be kinda untouchable during evade frames….
That’s not the point at all. The point is that there is something unavoidable in the game. And it’s not a single blind, you get blinded quite often while fighting a mesmer and it’s pretty annoying. Not like mesmers are underpowered, quite the opposite.
The mesmer has to effectively be in melee range for the blind to hit, as it’s a point blank AoE around the mesmer. Mesmers are squishy. Mesmers in melee range constantly can die. Fast. If you are being hit with the blind mid-evade, that’s another problem; sounds like a bug.
The blind is applied around the Mesmer in melee range. It’s not tied to the clones being shattered. Try dodging.
eta – Must be a bug. Does S. Midnight cause blind against evading enemies? Maybe it was intended to work like that though that’s a bit too strong imo.
“The jealous are troublesome to others, but certainly a torment to themselves.”
People always fail to realize how OP blind is
Its just like the guardian’s blind on virtue trait. It is ridiculously strong though.

Well, I already said that. I tested it with a friend and blind got applied on me while I was evading.
I kinda think that its working as intended. As it sais so in the tooltip.
Counterplay:
- stay out of range while mesmer shatters
- use aa after shatter
I think that it shoudn’t apply to evading enemies tough
Um.. “stay out of range when mesmer shatters” is kind of the key to beating Mesmer period. And “just autoattack” isn’t exactly counter play. I’m pretty certain it is a bug.

Priceless

Ad homimem attacks are stupid in general, Phaeton. Especially when you get your facts wrong. OP mains an ele, not a thief.

Even more priceless… >.>
Blind gets eaten more often than not by auto-attack and you should probably worry about dodging the Shatter more than the blind. It’s nearly useless versus ranged, so it’s really only a throwaway debuff to help survive the burst of melee.
And considering the current state for burst it’s hysterical how people are complaining about this trait.
i could be wrong but hasnt guardian blinds been able to go through evade last 2 years? was asking my guardian guildies and they thought so?
It’s kittened. Mesmers spam more blind than Thieves now, while having 3 times the survivability. Oh! you landed a high CD CC skill on that slippery Mesmer and the burst is coming? Nope! Just press any shatter skill! I’m a Mesmer and I blocked your attack, hehe but I also blinded you… GG! WTF. Really.
Robert Gee, you made Necromancers (yeah, you know it) and Mesmers extremely mindless. You and your team totally failed at balance… in my opinion (:D).
Blind fits well with my perception of what a mesmer does from an RP standpoint. I think it’s much more fitting than something like bleed of all things.. >.>
That said, block skills were really underpowered imo, this is a good way to incorporate them into viable builds while adding some much needed survivability.

Yeah, I agree that the game gained a lot more of passive stuff, but same goes for ele (Soothing Ice, Tempest defense, blinding ashes…). It just sucks that there is no counterplay to some things and the fact they have so much access to the blind is pretty annoying.
Mesmers are one of the squishiest classes, their survivability is based around being slippery. We don’t really have the heals or Aegis to tank something head on, blind is a fitting addition to the class overall, and I really feel they needed it.
We’ll see how the dust settles as they adjust the way damage is right now, but I don’t think blind is any where near OP.

Let me correct that for you.
Mesmers used to be one of the squshiest classes. They got so many buffs, they can sustain very well now.

My point exactly.

EDIT: Also no ya’ll no, Mesmers suffer the most from the loss of extra stats from trait lines. That extra 300 in Chaos would have helped but A-net shot that in the foot by nerfing Chaotic Dampening far too hard.
Theif players just need to stop.

I honestly don’t understand the logic: ‘’There are unavoidable attacks in the game, so it’s find adding more.’’ But nice try.
I’ve been dueling a friend of mine and noticed that you get blinded even though you evade the shatter, so it’s basically unavoidable. Is this intended?
bumping till this gets fixed
no mechanic should be unevadable

Actually, you can’t dodge through Static Field, Line of Warding, or similar skills. It’s probably a bug that you can’t dodge this blind, but there are definitely un-evadeable attacks in the game that should stay that way.
Also you effectively can’t dodge things like Fire/Air sigils because they will just proc the next time you hit them but that’s kind of a different issue.

I agree with this; however, if they are going to fix blinding dissipation they need to fix the pull on binding blades. There is no reason why that skill should go through evasion.
