Car Crashed fielded an ineligible player during their April 18, 2016 Pro League matches against The Civilized Gentlemen. According to our logs, the person playing as “Sam” was not the owner of the account, but was instead “Frostball”, a member of Vermillion. This violates rules set forth in the ESL Guild Wars 2 Pro League Rulebook as well as the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement. Frostball and all Car Crashed members that played on April 18 will be banned from ArenaNet-sponsored competitive events effective today through the end of the 2016 season, at which point each individual’s eligibility will be revisited.
All match-ups against Car Crashed will be changed to a 2-0 score in favor of the opposing team for weeks 1 through 7.

Relevant Rules:
ESL Guild Wars 2 Pro League Rules
1.2.7. A participant may only play for one organization at the same time in any ESL Pro League, Intel Extreme Masters, ESL Pro Series, or ESL Amateur series.
1.2.9. Players must utilize their own account for use in the ESL Pro League
Glad to know the pro league players can also be banned if they do bad things (unlike when they manipulatedatch making and leaderboard in the first season and enjoyed immunity)

Out of curiosity, how do you find this information out. I know you wont say details, but it makes me question my privacy.
It’s very easy to find out. First, you look at the login history. Second, check the keybinds. Third, check the playstyle/build (and things like the order of utility slots). Finally, observe the game and deliver the ban hammer.

I thought maybe it was a bit more involved, because it was so high profile. I hope it was, kind of.
This is exactly the reason I was upset when they qualified for pro league. The team has been involved in some shady stuff in the past. I take you back to the WTS qualifiers where blackjack played with an american roster and nearly cost oRNG the WTS spot. There has also been talks of blackjack ddos’ing people a while back. Although this has never been confirmed so we can’t really use this as evidence.
Its nice to see that some rules are being enforced but i think alot more rules are needed and others looked at.
It also brings to light another aspect, that these Pro League circles are very small which is why you see the same players all the time just on different teams.
Which is why i do hope they get a legit roster in the future if this League goes on after this season.
Wasn’t Frostball the one who got DDOSed against TCG? Hmm….
We still need a ruling on the DDOs-case if I’m not mistaken. I personally suggest a rematch.
With or without Frostball?
Either way vM is screwed. Did the team deliberately try to do this to make TCG lose and thus increase their own standing? Or was Frostball just acting on his own?

I actually have a question about?
I was told by a friend if you buy a actual firewall it wont happen and there are ESL software for this very thing. Im just curious to the effectiveness of such software.
My question for you is, do you think they should have a rematch if such software is effective?
I dont know either way how hard or often this happens but the few people ive talked too all said certain things which pointed to the player should of been more careful.
Conspiration theory v 2.0:
Did CC DDOS Frosty to make vM loose against TCG so that Frosty would accept to play with them and increase their chances against TCG???

How does ANet find out that another person was using one of the team member’s accounts?

I can’t get into the specifics, unfortunately.
That said, planning a scheme such as this entirely through in-game chat is generally not advised.
Well this certainly is interesting. Completely kills vermillion’s chances of getting to the finals though so makes the second half of the pro league not really worth watching when it comes to finals qualification because not even a 2:0 win against 55 would get them a finals place now. I know that what they did should not be allowed but it is such a shame that it will ruin the pro league. It is almost like everything in the eu pro league has been trying to drive me away from watching it: 2 cancelled games on week 1, the DC/DDoS on vM against TCG and now this. Really is a shame.
I love the pro league but I am so upset to hear this news, it just makes me lose motivation to get excited about it when things like this are happening. Of course cheating should not be tolerated but still, I feel if nobody ever found out about this it would have made the remainder of the pro league much more interesting, not that I approve of this kind of behaviour at all.
Well I guess all I can do is congratulate rank 55 and TCG for getting to the finals from the eu pro league!

Regarding qualification, I am wondering what if the following happens:
1. TCG won all their rest game 2:0
2. vM won all their rest game 2:0
3. 55 won all their rest game 2:0 except the one against vM
That would put TCG vM and 55 all at the same match w-l and game w-l. The games in between those 3 will also be even.

The comment by Joshua made my day.
I know that all from CC are still very young, but cheating this dilettantish is hilarious.
Can’t even be mad, they get my GW2 vote for world’s dumbest of 2016.
The Guild Wars 2 cycle of life continues as kids insult each other over a handful of bucks on forums dedicated to a game pretending to be an e-sport.
A delicious drama.
