Or maybe make some (few) lines with tomes, some (more) lines with transmutes, this way you can decide what are your priorities (the tomes are great when you level, and then you get way too much of them even if you don’t need them…)

I’m a PvE player, the main reason I played PvP was Transmutation Charges. I’m pretty disappointed in the change, especially in trade for something that only interests those who want Legendaries, and probably won’t be worth that much on the Trading Post given how easy they will be to get (unless you need a lot of them I suppose).

I personally am never going to buy something just to use something I already have. So I will never buy a transmutation charge off the gem store. Maybe I’m alone in this I don’t know. But I thought it was fair to leave my thoughts here. You’re not gaining any gem sales from me from this and I’m less likely to play PvP on a regular basis.

I don’t care much about the transmutation charges (having like 300 of them I think), but I agree it’s best to give people choices. I’d like to have a line without Tomes and Transmutation Charges.

To be honest they should have never been as easy to come by as they are currently. Transmutation crystals were quite valuable, gem store purchases, and anet was extremely generous giving up that source of income by giving them out like candy in pvp.

I’m wondering if they plan on making transmutation charges available somewhere else in the game to balance this out. Maybe on the new karma merchant they mentioned?

I understand they are a business and need to make money, but I will be disappointed if they reduce the number of transmutation charges from PvP. I already need to buy them from the BLTC to keep up with how often I update my look.

This game is called ‘Fashion Wars’ for a reason.

This is ideal but abusive. There are plenty of players out there that can go for the track for the most gold value. ArenaNet doesn’t need to change rewards, just change how they are given.

In my opinion, the way rewards are given is the WORST offender.

  • You only need 1 point to contribute, regardless if you were playing for 7 minutes or 1, same reward.
  • Joining the team with most points is NOT punished.
  • PvP rank is not split evenly, making it rewarding to have all experienced players on one side.
  • Volunteering is optional. It doesn’t try to balance players rank.
  • By sitting in spectator, you could force a 4v5 because you are preventing new players from coming in.

“Oh, but that’s just hotjoin, all the real stuff is in unranked/ranked” congrats on your mediocre MMR. Because high MMR players have to wait 10-20 minutes for unranked or ranked. Sure, fine, in League of Legends pro players have 15+ minute queues too but you know what they don’t have? A queue time that WASTES your boosters! It’s bad enough it takes so long but now it feels like it wastes my time.

I don’t have the patience to play 2-3 matches max every hour. Not when I just want to hop in and play.


ArenaNet really needs to bring back Random Arenas from GW1. You join in, get thrown into the fray with random people, on a random match, ongoing or not. You win 5 matches or go until you lose, when you lose, the dice rolls again you get a new team next round.

Unranked should be the same deal, like Team Arenas, instead of being booted out into The Mists after every game, why can’t you have 5 people vote on “Next Round?” and when all people agree you are immediately put into queue for the next match.


But hey, that’s just me. Reduce the amount of transmutation rewards, fine, that doesn’t change the way rewards are given is flat out gross. Get your priorities straight ArenaNet.

Well duh, typically when I hit cap I’ve already PvPed for nearly 2 hours, get my fix. After that I typically go do other things.

Which is why I hate queuing for unranked or ranked, hotjoin I can PvP non-stop for 2 hours. Unranked I probably get 5 games in during those two hours.

Not.

Unless keys are going to be more readily available to properly compensate for the lack of stones (one time tracks are not enough unless weekly), OR the “Shards of Glory” market price is consistently about that of an ecto. Shards should be added to the tomes milestone reward table and neither reward should get cut. =/

The system is fine the way it is, and it still encourages players who don’t pvp enough to buy gems, and they are going to be the ones gliding around in the jungle finding new skins more consistently as well. Adding to the PvP rewards is fine but devs need to keep in mind that there is a major split.

Even IF pvp gets a ton of cool skins and will constantly be switching gear around, unless someone is sitting on an ungodly number of transmute stones people will blow through them fast enough to require a purchase or a gold conversion. Also anyone in that situation is not likely to change their gear much anyways.

Why can’t reward tracks be customizable in the first place? If I have eight level 80 characters and am sitting on multiple stacks of Tomes of Knowledge, I’d much rather be getting all Transmutation Charges instead most especially given how they’ve further mutilated key-farming most recently.

I don’t really care… On one hand, I support PvP giving way less gold per second than PvE, simply because I would rather play without the players that, in their own words, only go to PvP for the rewards. I would still play PvP with no rewards at all other than the fun of it. On the other hand, getting nice skins and customizing my character aesthetics is the one aspect of GW2 I enjoy besides PvP, transmutation stones are annoyingly expensive with gems, which are in turn very expensive with gold. Stones on the tracks were a godsend for me, the one thing that lets me customize my character aesthetics without having to farm or waste all the gold, which isn’t that much if you only PvP. I would’ve loved a different kind of purchase or game-mod or whatever: You only get PvP, no base game or anything, but you get infinite transmutation stones and lots of dyes/skins unlocked. Something like that. More character slots too!

They’re not worthless but it makes more sense to give more cosmetic / practical rewards of more use to a PvP focused player, as opposed to a random person just looking to level. You get bumped to 80 in PvP anyway so if you play just to PvP getting less tomes won’t make much of a diff.

A chest with a choice would be the ideal situation. Personally I hate seeing transmutation charges but I have 3K of them myself so this was a good fit. That said I can see others points especially with the removal of key runs that the ToK were fueling so a choice would be a very good fit in the situation.

Not to be mean about the situation, but what about having to just not changing a lot for like a month or so? Build up the charges a little so when you feel the need you have them. On avg, you get 3 a month from daily, yeah not a lot i know, on top of how ever amount you earn in pvp for the week.

as a joke, you could farm for new charges with a new character, lol.

Can’t say that I’ll miss having as much transmutation charges, I’d be perfectly happy with an alternative reward.

Also I don’t think you guys realise how ridiculous the rate of transmutation charges is for us compared to people who don’t PvP. Non-PvPers have to grind their way through map completion to get them, whereas we just get them from doing whatever we’d be doing anyway.
Even after halving, we still earn them far easier.

This is ideal but abusive. There are plenty of players out there that can go for the track for the most gold value. ArenaNet doesn’t need to change rewards, just change how they are given.

How is this being abusive? Some people want cash, some people value trans charges/tomes over cash (and would in theory save them a lot of cash in terms of converting to gems for charges), etc.

Yeah but look at Login rewards and see how many tomes of knowledge you get there vs. transmute charges. We get a bunch of tomes each month and not many transmute charges.

Personally I don’t care one way or the other, but I like the transmute charges, want another way to get Mystic Coins and don’t really need more tomes of knowledge.
