ok.

I fall under the philosophy that the game should be balanced for the top tier of players. It just makes sense. With that said, there’s a lot of threads on here that complain about things like balance, and people getting frustrated when they lose.

I want to help.

So to help out new players, I want to make a list of experienced players that are willing to help new players. Please skip down to the next post for the Rules about joining this list as well as some tips for using this list.

Follidus would like to add:

“I’m going to exclude the “paid tournament” section to people that are on the QP ladder at the time that they ask to be on the list. If you’re not on it, then I think it’s fair to say you’re not that experienced with paid tournaments. Sorry if this offends you.

I wanted to split the groups into NA and EU because there’s different trends on each region. This isn’t to say one is better than the other, but what works on one region might not work well on the other. I would suggest looking for advice from people on your own region first, and then checking out the other region next.

Rules:

1. You are not trolling. I know you’re original and absolutely hilarious. I know I can’t stop you, and this game is complete kitten, but hear me out: lets try to grow the community by helping out new players so they don’t quit when they die to a hundred blades warrior.

2. You genuinely want to help, and will respond to people when they ask for help. If you want to try and later don’t like all the PMs you get, I can always take you off the list. It’s not a big deal.

3. You can be in more than one category, it’s perfectly ok!

4. Be nice to people when they ask questions. You’re on this list because you want to help. This should be obvious!

5. You don’t have to be new to ask for advice! When we all succeed, we all succeed more.

6. Mandatory Fun.

*If you want to be added, please tell me what sections you want to be added to. be clear about it, don’t just say “add me to guardian.” At least say “NA 8v8 Hotjoin Guardian”

Using this list to it’s full potential

I wanted to give some advice to people looking for help.

1. It’s ok to message multiple people in the same category, in fact I encourage it! Getting different perspectives on strategies/builds/etc is always helpful! However I don’t suggest you mix and match things if you’re just starting out! That should be done only when you’ve gotten more experience under your belt!

2. People afk a lot and leave guild wars running. I’m guilty of it too. Because of this, not everyone will be able to reply to you right away. The same goes for when someone is in a game playing! You are not being ignored! The people on this list are people that asked to be on the list because they want to help people like YOU! If you’re not getting any response back, try sending a message again. Maybe an hour later, or the next time you see the person online. Don’t spam people! Be patient!"

the past 2 days with my previous thread i have had tons of ppl whispering me about ways to beat certain stuff. also questions about what roles certain things bring to the team and many more questions.

i have had fun answering ppl and giving ppl a better understanding because i want a better community and helping ppl is the best way.

also can you make sure that ppl send me mail not whispers as many ppl know im afk alot. either at the park or playing kinect in the front room or my favorite thing making controversial posts on the forums.

i dont want to be limited to only 1 type of person able to ask me questions i fell like i want to be available 100% of the time to 100% of the ppl.

I had a few people in mind when I started this thread, and you were one of them. I just didn’t want to add anyone without being told it’s ok, and I didn’t know what sections people would want to be added to.

This actually started because I wrote an essay that i was going to post in your thread, but I’m thinking about making a few threads about a few different topics. I don’t know yet. But I thought this could be really helpful.

I would love to! Which region do you play in? The reason for this is not to limit who can help who (because you can message people in a different region), but I wanted to make sure if someone gives you help it’s going to work. What works on NA might not work in EU, and vice versa!

I noticed there are no rangers in the EU section.

I know many teams are unfamiliar how to synergize a 5 man, I can help give ideas to that. You can’t really just toss together random classes and specs and be incredibly successful against other top teams. So ya..

I did make a thing for “overall strategy,” but do you think I should add something else?

Also, I know you multiclass, so what classes?

And just a note to everyone: This is probably going to fill up, so in the future I want to start cutting people out that are listed 100 times. (or do you guys think I shouldn’t? let me know). What i’m thinking is having a limit of 3 classes, and maybe 3 sections for each class.

Let me know what you guys think of that.

Also, I was thinking of changing up the order of everyones names every once in a while, because the first person listed is most likely to get messaged. What do you guys think?

I’d like to be added to every category as Thief & overall strategy. I’m from EU!

I will add my name to 1v1 and dueling for thief. American servers.

This is pretty cool. I wonder if you guys would be willing to extend this post to the wvw forums? I know some of you do both, and even if all you do is spvp, class knowledge and matchups is fairly universal, even if strategy isn’t.

North American, put my name on the list for any category, I do dueling, free, paids, anything, and I know almost all classes inside and out (minus engineer). I’m always down to help new players. Thanks for this thread.
