New Meta no more Mesmers :(
Mesmer are absurdly op.
Still very good and very viable.
Virtually invincible. You’re either a new and inexperienced player or a troll. My gut feeling is telling me to lean more towards the latter.
Well he is outside the top 1000 on Leaderboards if you put any stock into them.

Because everyone in the top 100 is a mesmer. Oh wait…
I play thief and to me mesmers seem easier to kill lately. I’m running d/p 10/30/0/0/30 sleight if hand build now compared to the old 25/30/0/0/15. So maybe it’s the new the build I’m running or maybe Mesmer got nerfed, I don’t know.
In general, I think condi spam in this game is too powerful. Engi with nades and necro both are just so powerful you don’t not want that class part of your team. It’s like a must have. Same with bunk guardian. Thief, Mesmer, warrior are not must haves. Spirit rangers are becoming a new must have IMO.
So you fill 3 spots with guard, nec, engi. 4, if you get spirit ranger to bunk home. That last spot can really be filled with anything, but people are going to take the condi spam over anything else for the most part because no class has enough condi removal to keep up with the spam.
No one (that knows what they’re talking about) is saying mesmer is weak. What people are accurately saying is that they are not viable as bunkers and very weak against heavy condi spam which is pretty common right now, so in a team scenario their usefulness is a bit lacking right now. With that said, against a team that isn’t heavy condi or in most 1v1 shatter mesmer is still very strong.
Another thing to consider; glass cannon builds are being pushed out of ranked play because of splash/aoe damage.
What is going on here is no other class is viable lol cause necro and engi aoe dps is out of control. The only reason engi is no longer at the for front of balance issues it because a very poor pvp team at anet was given the ok to mega buff necro. None of the other classes are weak its just they can’t compete with that kind of crazy aoe dps.
Edit: It seems to me you guys said buck it lets make necro crazy awesome since they have not seen much play since the aoe cap, destroy all the work we’ve done the last 4 months to balance the classes, and ruin the structured part of spvp by making it a aoe fest. You didn’t even balance the the class that you were already having this same problem with. This is the most vile show of incompetence I’ve seen in pvp since death knights at the start of cata.

I said like 2 months ago, mesmers condition removal was really bad.. and everyone answered I was crazy because of null field, traits and mantras (?). And this was an issue even before necro’s buff, engineers damage was (and still is) flying over the radar.

The condition removal isn’t lacking. It’s that it doesn’t fit in with what’s perceived to be the best build (shatter).

And thats why my teams mesmer doesnt play shatter. I think that too many people forget that support is a role you can play for a team. Oh well, their loss.

Tell me a support role that a Mesmer can play and I will tell you a better alternative for that same role. If there is a better option, and you are in a competitive team… why select a sub-optimal choice?
Have you tried using any other traits? The only way to truly be good is to be able to adapt to ANY change!
Personally, I feel like Mesmers are still viable.
The problem is people get to cushy playing a certain playstyle. When it’s disrupted, they would rather cry foul and switch classes than sit down and work it out.
IDK, instant gratification is strong in this community.
Yup.
To prove this, just think of how many mesmers refused to change to even Null Field when necromancers first got buffed. Every single high-rated player knew necromancers and conditions were overpowered, yet so many mesmers still refused to equip even one condition removal. Mind boggling.
I heard tpvp mesmers have extremely rigid utility map. Like portal, illusion of life and stunbreak. Where should they slot null field?

Considering that these were the ONLY reasons mesmers were taken. Mesmers had only one utility slot that could be used for personal preference. Now this can either be a condi clear (null field/arcane thievery/Mantra of Resolve/phantasmal disenchanter) none of which are stun breakers some other classes get that in both, or a stun breaker which most agree that when compared against condi clear stun breakers are still the better damage mitigator.

Drop Illusion of Life or portal.
These were not mandatory. They are just the most team fight attractive.
Mesmers have good boonstrip, powerful ranged damage, good aoe cleave, and very good peeling outside kittened thieves who pretty much are unpeelable.
People used to say Signet of Undeath from the necro was a must have. It got dropped.
People used to say shouts were mandatory. They got dropped for meditations. Some guardians won’t even use sanctuary.
Some people said BM quickness was mandatory. It got destroyed and spirits quickly replaced it and nobody kicks rangers because they don’t have haste stomps/rezzes.
Give it some time. Once people start building counter comps to the meta, perhaps mesmers will be in the counter-counter comps.
Lol. Before this last patch with loads of adjustments, warriors and necromansers were also not part of the meta… and it was “given some time”… and they were still not viable in the meta… until a significant patch hit it, changing some specs and abilities.
Regarding the spirit ranger, if you check patch notes they were significantly buffed but the BM spec was still better, until they got nerfed. Then it was a normal change to the spirit spec.
Warriors are still not apart of the meta btw.
Exactly, but still rather more “viable” then mesmers in a team comp due their perma stun/daze spec being more useful to teams. Plus berserk stance.
And people will still say “give it time for warriors…” ?
3 Necromancers to roam between, 2 warriors to hold points. Necromancers spam AoE conditions and heavy boon denial and Warrior to spam single target and AoE stuns.
There you go, a practically unbeatable team comp.

You should make this team and roll with it all the way to #1 mistleague.
look, warriors have one of their best build nerfed to the ground and its still one of the builds thats most used. gg

Contrary to popular belief, Warriors are in a pretty good spot.

To stick with the thread, my opinion :
Mesmers are still very strong. They have no problem (maybe lack condi removal), the problem is the meta. They just don’t fit in, as many other classes/builds.

Hence Mesmer is no longer strong when every other class can find some way even a very odd one to fit in to a meta but one class is just completely obsolete it is easier to change that one class than destroy every other one to adjust the meta. Which I hope anet does mesmer has seen so many needlesss nerfs.

It’s not the condi. D/P and s/d thieves hardcounter mesmers as well as do current strong warrior tpvp builds.
Mesmers and eles were dropped because everybody has burst now, but mesmers and eles have poor sustained damage compared to the classes they’re competing with on top of the survival issues.
You dodge the phantasm and shatter and the mesmer does no damage himself.
I can see homogenization is beginning to get the best of GW2 PvP.
