Please take sides to allow good feedback
I cant tell if the game is too hard or too easy based off these forums. Its like every post about something being terrible has a post saying the exact opposite.
The fact that anything that involves GW2 has such a low amount of viewers on twitch and that the competative scene is so small compared to other games, does give a sign about the current state of PvP in this game. GW2 is still one of the biggest PC-games played I believe, but you never hear about it. This playerbase is mainly involving PvE and WvW, but it is the PvP section of a game that will draw attention from people outside.
ANet doesn’t even want to split pvp/pve/wvw balance…
and what purpose does that serve? what is the cost? why is it important?
whe whole purpose of this topic would be to point out how difficult it is to give proper feedback if we dont even know how the company wants to see the product.
For example: if we take your statement as a suggestion (like so many including me did before), it gets completely irrelewant real quick if the only goal of pvp is to let people brawl a bit between 2 living story achivements. There is no need for extra effort in balancing if there are no plans regarding a competitive pvp system.
Long hours of brain storming etc could be saved for the customers if we know what we can suggest and what will be completely ignored couse lack of intrest.
(like the suggestion of separated balance etc…)
IMO it’s time for ANet to officially take sides in terms of pvp environment.
Thy are designing 99% for casuals
so, you answered your own question here.
case solved.

what u think?!?!
I think the meta classes right now all have a very low skill floor — meaning that they’re easy to pick up and be reasonably effective with. But most of them also have high skill ceilings, meaning that a good player can do a lot more with them than a bad player. So in some respects, I think A.net is generally succeeding.
The main culprit right now is DH, which was way overnerfed due solely to complaints from more casual players (and I guess WvW).
The question is:
Do they only need to tell us what they want, or themselves.
To me it doesnt seem like they would even know the answer.
They are appearently trying to have their cake and eat it too, and they may not even be aware of that.

Na, DH wasn’t overnerfed. It was nerfed in a great way, which would be more noticeable if all the other elite specs received the same treatment (with more nerfs in most cases).

100% agree.
I meant DH was overnerfed relative to the treatment other builds got. But, like you, I’m all for a massive across-the-board nerf to elite specs in general to bring them more in line with core.

What purpose does that serve?
Guardians got nerfed in Conquest SPvP thanks to Anet catering to WvW Zergs.
What is the cost?
Guardians are now less viable than ever in SPvP… some even switched to Warrior because Guardian’s compensation for the 20% True Shot nerf was poorly executed.
- LB#5 never lands to gain any type of dmg buff & enemy players not caught can walk right through the cage.
Why is it important
Clearly, specific WvW changes has a direct negative effect to SPvP because the two are not seperated in terms of balance changes. They are not the same game modes and must be treated as such.

1week till season #3 start. no idea what anet is planning, but i still find this an overly important topic. ISO answer
well watching Leet0 on twitch is really entertaining too bad he gonna move “Over” to some other game.
We had a good conversation on today’s Leeto chat, the resoult is the following:

I still believe that not deciding makes the most damage to the game. Not only does it make people feel theyr feedback useless, but both the competitive and casual community gonna be fed up to a point where noone wants to write anything anymore besides walls of rant.
EDIT: well if ANet does not know, then the community does! i gonna poll you in a new potic soon.

It doesn’t matter what suggestions anyone makes, they are only going to do what their limited resources allow them to do.
going to do what their limited resources allow them to do.
sry?
so resources are limited due to released stuff is not finished.. i see. I’d totally invest in a new expansion when my last one is half done
MadVisions is actually a good player. It makes me giggle seeing all tryhard plebs trying to talk him down xD

There is a few things Anet has done to kill the PvP for twitch and outsiders.
1- Leader Board
No one has a clue if the person they might be following is actually any good, how do you follow a game/person out of thousands of players streaming to try and learn the game?
2- PvP PiP system
Im sorry but the same people are getting to the same divisions just about every season. Ive also had friends/ guild team mates win 1 vs 1 (necro vs necro) and my team mate was in sapphire and the other guy was in legendary. The PiP system hasnt been good for match matching or que times.
3- Build diversity
Its season 3 of PvP, almost everyone has gotten the wings and what is the incentive? People who love PvP want to play different kinds of builds and that wont be happening to much.
I know this thread is old but Anet should really try to give us a actual ranking system like we did with the solo que leaderboard and team leaderboard. Seriously give the PvP community something other then some funky looking wings.
Anet needs to do just one thing, make premade a compulsion for Ranked games and take PvE loot track off from Ranked games. This will simply solve everything, as only those players who are interested in true PvP will play it as a team (as it needs to be played) and players with similar skills sets will group up, besides PvE players will avoid it and would be limited to soloQ in Unranked games.
Well since you necro the thread guess i’ll answer your original question.
IMO it’s time for ANet to officially take sides in terms of pvp environment.
Thy are designing 99% for casuals and selling everything as competitive. Could you guys officially take sides to open path for serious feedback?
What’s Anet is trying to acomplish is pretty black and white, not sure what the confusion is. The game is 60% casual based and 40% competitive. League system is almost all casual based without it being too easy of a grind up. The competitive nature is the speed at reaching Legendary and/or having a higher w/l ratio. Any more competitive and the casuals would rage like they did in season 2.
Believe it or not but there’s indeed a skill factor in the game. That’s seen from all these nerf threads of skills from classes that don’t need nerfing.
A plethora of items needs fixing starting with certain class balances and matchmaking tweaks, but Anet isn’t sending mix signals as to whether or not they’re aiming for casuals or elite players. It’s obviously a balance of both worlds and there’ll always be more casuals in the game.
