Premade vs non premade....is it fair?
Second match & who’s on the opposing team ……same exact 5 man premade (who admitted they “love farming noobs” after I asked them why aren’t they playing in ranked)
(edited by Ellie.5913)
Objectively, I’d say no, it’s not fair. It’s like giving 1 team rocket launchers and the other team pistols (the solo folks). I mean, it depends on if the pre-made is good obviously. There have been instances there the pre-mades were bad and they lost, but then other cases, like what you just experienced, where the pre-made steamrolls the other team.
In the end, I don’t think it’s fair, because both teams aren’t playing on equal terms. This kind of thing has been putting a lot of players off the game recently.
Third match of the day vs all solo player team but 2 people grouped up on my team…I’m seeing a pattern here……

Yea I know. In the beginning pvp was fair matches all around, now it’s the exact opposite of that, everything is always predetermined…does anyone really have fun in such matches…I know I sure don’t. Just gettin my daily done then probs leave
I don’t think Conquest helps much either tbh. It’s not the easiest mode to get to grips with for newcomers, and takes quite a bit of time to understand it’s steep learning curve.
It’s a team based game mode through and though. Granted any game with 2 sides is obviously a team based game, but with Conquest being a small scale mode, it’s vital that all the people in the team are pulling their weight.
Like we touched upon before, the majority of people in Gw2 solo. Conquest isn’t the best of modes for this. If both teams are solo q’ers, then fair enough, everyone is solo, but given how complex the mode can get, it’s still not the most solo friendly of modes.
Yea ofc newbies and or solo players aren’t gonna do well against premades which are organized, in any kinda game mode really . I don’t know who thought that would be a good idea but its terrible , and you already know who’s gonna win before it even starts in most cases. The matchmaker decides that for us >.<
I’ve seen people in-game complaining about PvP too. When I was in Unranked a couple of weeks ago, someone on the enemy team in map chat said “I’m going back to Ranked, where people know how to play.”. That person just seemed to give up really easily. Obviously our team won the game.
Anyway, I responded in map chat and said “You won’t find any better matches there than in Unranked.”. Another person on my team also responded saying “It is funny though, how in Ranked you get some wins, then get a massive losing streak.”.
I’ve not experienced the losing streak that others have (fortunately), but I’ve become really bored of the current state of PvP. The blowout matches didn’t exactly excite me and it can’t have been very nice for the losing team.
Premade vs non premade….is it fair?
It seems to be quite fair with a small advantage for the solo players, because according to anet the win rate of five solo players is above 50% against five-person premades.
Only 1% of all Ranked matches played in season one were a full five-person premade group vs. a group of five solo players, and even then, the win rate for those five solo player teams in those cases was consistently at or above 50% throughout the entire season.

Well clearly some one is lying, all my matches go like the screen shots I posted…..premade win non premade lose and most of the time by a land slide.

Yea all I had was losses in ranked this season so I stopped after a couple days, also I could tell that every person on my team was completely new to pvp but the enemy team wasn’t…..who in their right mind would enjoy matches like that, there’s no point to it. If your’e not on the predetermined winning team then you are only there to be farming material for the other teams, no thank you I’ll pass.

Yeah it never struck me as making logistical sense. A premade can, by leaps and bounds coordinate better. Just the off chance they have coms skews the match so far in their favor it makes my head spin.

Of course I can’t check anets data but I have similar experiences.
When I play Solo/Dou and meet a full premade it is often an easy win. Many of these full premades are guild teams of which at least a few members are quite bad. Only very few full premades are good coordinated teams of good players. Actually I wonder that it is still nearly 50/50. Most of my loses against full premades are not because they are better they are because one of the solo players throws the game and AFKs right from the start without even trying to fight. That’s really annoying to fight 4vs5 against a bad premade an knowing you only loose because some guy is AFK.

Yeah they could but most don’t do it.
On the other hand Premades get an MMR-Disadvantage.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Matchmaking_Algorithm
So if they don’t use their Com-Advantages but get the automatic MMR-Disadvantage they are in a quite bad position.

Which is just an out of context stat lacking the info to have any meaning (which is why whatever snake-oil salesmen put them out, did so, for gullible people), you could have an overall 50% win rate of solos vs 5 mans, with 50% of the games being solo PvP players stomping vs inexperienced 5 man PvE groups, and the other 50% being 5 man ESL pre-mades on TS stomping solo PvP players, the overall figure might be 50%, but no one is getting good matches.
Come back when you have actual real stats with some meaning such as not just for 5v solo, but 4+1 v solo, 4+1 vs 2+1+1+1 and so on, viewable by MMR bands, by score ratio and by time people queued so we can see how people off-peak fare, but don’t hold your breath on getting those actual useful stats, take a guess why?

If the matchmaking isn’t totally screwed it has some meaning. On the other hand a few matches of some people have no statistical meaning. To be real, people who have bad matches come to the forum complaining, people who have good matches don’t come to the forum to praise anet.

What does that mean for everyone who lose against a non ESL premade?

“good match” what’s your idea of a good match, if it means a match that you have won well I have plenty of those too especially when the opposing team is all solo players & even more when I have a few people on my team that are premade. But its not a fair match which makes it a not so fun match & a this match doesn’t make any sense kinda match. Also tbh you sound like 1 of those people who have a premade team and enjoy farming solo players and don’t want that to change, its ok though, I’m sure it won’t change so don’t worry about it.

I like to play with friends but the current league system punishes you for “just” playing with friends regardless of their skill level. At the moment you need to “try hard” in a group with coordinated builds and similar skill level or play solo. That’s why I mostly play solo at the moment.
I even made a thread about this topic a month ago.

The very fact that you can have solo players can be matched vs a 5 man with good comp + TS shows just how screwed matchmaking is.
To be real, people who have bad matches come to the forum complaining,..
Not really, most people simply stop playing PvP or the game, which is why PvP is the huge success it is…
What does that mean for everyone who lose against a non ESL premade?
Erm, I was taking an extreme example to show why a 50% stat by itself is meaningless, that the game could have an overall 50% win rate, but not have a single balanced match, or some guy at high MMRs could have a 80% loss rate in solo vs 5 man because he is facing good players (often better than he may have on his team) on TS, which is just being offset by some guy with a lowish MMR players getting a 80% win rate in solo vs nub PvE 5 mans, you need way more information for the 50% to mean anything.
(edited by zinkz.7045)
If you don’t like how the matchmaking is currently working, then you should stop to play pvp. Not trying to be cynical, but this is the only option you have to vote.
Comments on the forum are nice, but they will not change anything.
If enough peoply don’t play a certain game mode, the situation will be reviewed and adjustments will be made.
For me, I know that this season wasn’t an enjoyable experience, so I simply stopped playing pvp.
Is it the best solution? No.
Is it the only viable solution? Yes.
No it’s not fair at all and this is unranked btw so people posting about this league system please read lmao.
It’s really a question of what’s feasible as far as I am concerned. Queues would explode imo if solos could only face solos and that’s why they are not doing it and its not going to happen so make peace with it. I mean think about it we already had solo queue at one point do you really think its because they want to punish you or something that they did away with it?
Title says all I wanted to say.
Hello, this is the Engi from that ‘Pre-made’ here. Just wanted to let you know that that entire team was made of out people playing matches who ended up on the same team and just decided to start a party. If you play enough and see the same people then party it up. We were 500 – 0’ing way before you got involved and before we formed a party. I have solo que’d against pre-mades and guild teams plenty. All about how you play. Shoot me a PM and we can go nuts one day as proof. Much love, XoXoXo

its funny how i see way more premades in unranked than in ranked but i have also won more games than i have lost vs those full or 4 man premades. Usually its just guild/pve teams practicing etc.
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "

Yea sometimes it is PVEers in the premade in that case it would be easy to win, but in most of my matches the premade is not pvers they pvp a lot so its not gonna be a fair match at all. And the reason why they are in unranked is just like that guy on the premade said…They “love farming noobs and bads” apparently they love blow out matches like that and don’t want any kind of a challenge.

Yes I feel like I’m being punished every day for what I don’t know maybe something I did in a past life but that’s beside the point. I don’t agree with that whole feasible thing, there’s tons of solo players, solo players never had long wait times, wait times for them when soloQ existed was much shorter than it is now. The only people who had an issue with it was the few team players out there, To solve that problem all they have to do is make team players fill up their team completely before entering a battle then they can fight a team as a team and solo players could go back to fighting only solo players again. That’s the way it was in gw1 and it worked great, those were the funnest pvp days of my life. Also I don’t get how most people know its and unfair match most of the time and they are ok with that, Oh it has to be this way because the fair way wouldn’t work so lets just accept unfair matches….to me that just sounds crazy. I don’t have fun in unfair matches even if I’m on the predetermined winning team. Beating a team on equal grounds is a lot more fun than winning with an advantage….its called competition.

Like I say, map rotation is huge and hard to do right with pugs. What can’t be seen is all the Mesmers on Forefire portal playing as they should. Was a solid match, jumping buggers. Those 500-0’s were all cause we rotated according to where the opponents went. Look at what just happened on the Pro League, Team PZ vs Final Form. Final had the fights but PZ had the map rotation and won. Hard to do that right without communication.
This party was random. I had one guild member in it, and it was the first time I had met him.

Def wrong man. I have known 1 of them for sometime but we fractals together more than we ever PvP. The other we met on Saturday. 3rd guy added his guildie in and then we found that last after queing. He was a random that talked back to us in map chat so we just que’d up for the laughs. Think what you want but those are the facts my friends. Randoms trolling in PvP turning into friends that actually understand how to play. What you missed out on was all the crazy jokes and crazy laugh we had going after queing up.

OK I don’t know why you keep calling me “bro” and “man” but I’m definitely not either one of those and that’s getting annoying FYI. Also I recognize at least 1 or 2 of those people’s names from pvp from a way long time ago, and they usually have a premade, so these people aren’t your’e every day solo players like your’e trying to make them out to be. If they play alone they are way easier to beat……my point was premades have an unfair advantage (unless they are PVEers) and that’s never gonna change.

Well beautiful isn’kitten 5v5? Can’t win a match alone. So why not help your odds and make a team out of it. Just tossing that out there. Can’t expect synergy with solo’s to know where to go or what fights to be in. Solo que, message people to make friends, start a rando party and run with it. I tried reaching out to you in-game but seems you would rather just solo que. Yes a team that talks and knows whats up will usually benefit and win. Instead of complaining that people are playing an MMO and wanting to play together, why not party it up some. My guild only has 4 active people in it, of that only 1 plays PvP at all. When ever I play I start off solo que’d and make parties on the fly with people I see that know what they are doing. Better my odds. As for why is that happening in unranked is cause ranked gets stale after diamond. I’d rather play with people that want to learn and enjoy PvP then people just grinding their way through the divisions.
GW pvp is so weird.

No sir, this is called a fair advantage. The game didn’t force you to have a poor team. That’s just what it’s occasionally going to roll for you. You have to play against better people once in a while. I know it can be tough, but it couldn’t be more fair. Learn from what you see, make friends, apply corrections, and progress like everyone else.
People that queue together should have an advantage. That’s the point of making teams.

Yes you are correct I love playing alone as a solo player as do a lot of people. Does that mean I should be punished for it? No I don’t think so. There’s nothing wrong with people socializing and playing as a team either if that’s more your style. All I said is the 2 should be separated again, full team vs full team(if your team’s not full make it full or play solo queue) and let solo players play against solo players so the match will be fair. That’s it that’s all I’m saying. Makes a LOT more sense that way. But w/e its not my game they can make the game however they want. If they want to turn us all into monkeys and not let us do anything but run around jumping and screaming OHHHH EEEEEEEEE AHHH AHHHHHHHH all day they can do that. It wouldn’t be fun or fair and most wouldn’t enjoy it but if they want they can do that……
People that queue together should have an advantage. That’s the point of making teams.
Yea your’e just proving my point even more… premade huge advantage…solo player team huge disadvantage ….put them together in a match…predetermined outcome. End of story. Thanks

Trade off is queue times. If you limit matchmaking to isolate group queues, everyone waits longer.

I don’t know why people bother commenting without reading the whole conversation first. I played pvp when solo and team queue were separated. I was always a solo player never a team player and MY queue times were very short, usually I got in instantly. So no you are wrong the only people who had long waiting times were team players. Instead of leaving it that way they decide to merge them and create unfair & unfun matches which favor team players and pretty much say kitten you to solo players. And at this point I sound like a broken record repeating the same things over and over cuz people don’t bother reading things first so I’m gonna take a break now. HfTcBai.
My solo q times before they removed glory was never as bad as ranked now. Sure they were a bit longer than unranked but unranked is basically a cesspool of filth.
Yes you are correct I love playing alone as a solo player as do a lot of people. Does that mean I should be punished for it?
Punishment:
noun
1. The infliction or imposition of a penalty as retribution for an offense.
As you did not commit an offense, this is not a punishment. The word you are looking for is:
Consequence:
noun
1. a result or effect of an action or condition.
If you are trying to imply that for whatever special reason, you are not personally accountable for your actions, then I can understand how you’d be motivated to play victim. This is the opposite of being fair, as you are attempting to shift blame onto a matching system that doesn’t favor you with privilege rather than the appropriate blame of yourself.
So many people here just don’t seem to get it or more likely don’t want to. I’m guessing those who don’t want to are part of the premade groups hunting solo folks in unranked.
Its simple really. A person who goes solo in a match should be auto-grouped with 9 other people who went in solo. This is important for at least two reasons:
1) all the solo guys get to make mistakes and learn from them in a more forgiving environment. Thus, if they keep at it sooner or later they will become better pvp players and move on to party queue and ranked
2) it avoids massive, one-sided stomps which are bad because newer/solo players just die without learning a kitten thing about playing their class better and more importantly because it avoids frustration. Believe me when I tell you this level of unfair in pvp matchmaking leads to the kind of frustration which once accumulated leads to dead pvp. Ive seen it happen in more than one game, latest in Neverwinter where queue waiting went from very short to 15-30 minutes when most players got fed up and simply gave up. You don’t want that happening here if you truly enjoy pvp.
On the other hand if the only thing you actually like is pug stomping, if what you enjoy is to appear superior over total strangers thanks to unfair party advantage then by all means continue to defend a bad situation thus making it worse.

Of course it’s not fair. Anet has shown that they don’t care when they took away Solo Q. However, unlike S1, this past season was more “fair” in dealing with premades IMO. Pretty sure premades got a small bump in MMR, or maybe the premades I was in weren’t as good as I thought they were lol.

Trade off is queue times. If you limit matchmaking to isolate group queues, everyone waits longer.
Only for teams, for solo players queue times most probably will decrease. Basically, whole current matchmaking is sacrificing quality of matchmaking for 90% of players to please 10% of those who playing in teams, because “muh esports”.

A sore loser will argue that being matched against better players is “poor quality.”
You guys don’t understand that what you’re asking for won’t fix your problem.

Lets see now, you either failed at reading comprehension or you are trolling. The topic is clearly about solo vs premade. If you want to discuss player skill I suggest you start your own thread instead of baiting people on this one.
I understand the frustration of playing a match vs a well-coordinated team, but what can Anet really do about it. There are not enough teams queuing together to warrant separating solo and team queues. Instead of complaining about unfair match ups help ANET come up with a solution. It helps the community and it motives the employees to create something you guys will enjoy.

I’ll have to back Pepsis up and point out, that Ellie isn’t complaining because she’s a sore loser or anything like that. She’s an experienced Guild Wars player. She’s PvP’d since Gw1 and she didn’t have trouble in PvP, until the the MM changes, putting pre-mades against solo players.
Isn’t hot join still an option? Thought that is where most people ‘tested’ their builds and learned. The point y’all are making is teams should have their own que. It didn’t work before o they fixed it to what it is now. They have reworked the MMR system numerous times. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Matchmaking_Algorithm Read up and learn how it works please. The with wins we had from the above screenshots we started to play against people with better MMR. Clearly the system thought your skill level could handle us but poor communication with your team on rotations lead to that 500-0. Having a team que and solo que along with ranked and unranked would add to many options for queing so the que times would be terrible. You clearly arn’t terrible if we have matched together in the past. Either the system thought you could handle those matches or there weren’t enough people playing. Teams get put into a higher MMR so your solo team must have a better MMR then all of us by ourselves? I get the argument of teams vs solos and how you think they need to be separated but they did that and it didn’t work. So they changed it, combined them, and adjusted the MMR system for it. Add a solution instead of raging please, something new that they havn’t tried.
