They leave this map in but still haven’t fixed the bug where you get zoned out of the console room when you try to enter
no its not bad i just made an engineer just for skyhammer . I mean a trolgineer.
I like skyhammer a lot, but I definitely don’t think the map does much but subtract a lot from SoloQ.
It’s really good in Custom arenas though! I can still enjoy it there without having other people to suffer for it, which clearly is not the case in SoloQ.
Well… If I have to…
- If you are defending a point, you can always stand on those platforms and you are literally immune to being pulled down.
- If you are taking a point, you can turn your camera to look around the corner slightly and you can often see players before they stealth.
- If you are a Necro, you can put ‘Marks’ behind the glass. After you see it broken, you dodge and hide until their stealth breaks.
- If you can’t see the ‘pullers’ on the map, then you should be ready to either stability or break stun and spam jump. It can be difficult but it is easily doable for good players. If they are standing on the glass for too long before the pull, then you can predict the pull and dodge.
- If you have pets, minions or spirits then you should be hiding behind them at all times on side points.
I know this requires you to put more effort into the game which I know GW2 players dislike.
Anyway – I still want Skyhammer removed.

In the end, fairly much everyone seem to be in agreement with the idea that Skyhammer shouldn’t be in SoloQ
It’s a hotjoin/custom arena map, can’t believe it still exists in solo que. For every decent change, seems something bad has to stay.

Now personally I don’t really die to the scrubs who try to pull me around on the points, simply because I’ve got a particular skill that counters it. However your statement that:

Is utterly ridiculous. Preemptively defending against an unseen threat on a point where you may or may not already be engaged in battle with something else isn’t really reasonable.
I hate being forced into doing tournaments just to have some feeling of accomplishment… I love the changes to spvp, but the pain that comes along with doing skyhammer in tournaments is just not worth it to me.

This isn’t a PVP map. Having someone sit on a point shooting a laser that almost insta downs you is dumb. Your trying to PVP and someone on a laser nowhere near you is ruining your experience. Cause the fair fight you thought you were in just ended cause he is shooting a laser at you. So instead of focusing on actually pvping someone you are worried about removing the laser. Which either leads to a Tornado which tosses you off edge, chain fear that makes you walk the plank, or just some random Push/shove.
Remove the laser or tune it down. The radius, damage or both. Or make it daze targets instead of damage.
If you fall off the edge at the laser make it so you land below and take fall damage and not insta die.
You can remove spirit watch, but keep skyhammer! (my troll source of entertainment)
I agree, I don’t like either of these maps very much. Spirit watch I especially find annoying because it always seems like one team is just trying to run orbs and mostly ignores the points, so it’s almost always a blow out. And skyhammer is stupid with how often that laser fires.
Love spirit watch, gives a much needed break from very bland and generic maps where the secondary objectives might as well not exist.
I wouldn’t mind pewpewlastertown if the laser mechanic wasn’t so unforgiving. But even then if I wasn’t totally lazy I could probably just respec and not worry too much, and so far people on my team have handled the laser business.
+1 remove Skyhammer from Solo Queue. Spirit Watch is fine imo.

i never fight on cannon, but may pop once in a while and distract the cannonier.
i also dont like the way skyhammer and spirit watch works but removing them is also the wrong answer imo. the design of those maps are nice and allow new strategies for the teams.
what they need is a rework when it comes to the “special piece” at the maps.
the laser on the skyhammer map shouldnt nearly insta kill someone. it shouldnt damage after all. it could give the teamies its shooting at a little buff und a knock down only with a boon remove to enemies for example.
spirit watch is much worse imo. orb runner are more annoying than the skyhammer is.
change the bonus the orb gives when u reach a point. let it decap but dont give 15 insta points. give those extra points only when u cap the point with the orb in your hand and not immediately.
just add “flag 2 maps” in sQueue options, everyone will be happy.
I love Spirit Watch and I would love to see them in Team Arenas. Agreed with Skyhammer, thats a sucky map. Certain classes are way in advantage compared to others on that map.

Only one PvP map! We already have only one game mode!
It would be easy to mindlessly always do the same PvP matches, always use the same tactics, never have to adapt to any new situations, never have to change builds, not have to learn how to use terrain to our advantages, nor learning how to read adversaries mind and counter their strategies.
That would be so awesome!!!!!

Make a setting to let the player choose and discard individually a map out of the rotation.
I don’t like SH as well but lately with my thief I’m trolling necros so hard that they whisper me asking how the hell do I fear them, and I explain. We end up laughing about it
Basically I steal from them, stealth up, get into position and fear them off the edge xD
I like the map, but I’m too lazy to switch to a map-specific build. Give us a build template system so I can be lazy but still be able to switch into something that’s useful on that map.
Its typically only incredibly bad players that like this map. I literally destroy every single top player in europe on this map. But most what i do is encounterable and its all a one shot. So its not really a matter of skill but more about abusing mechanics (stealth + magnet pull for example).
One of the main reasons why GW2s pvp flopped hard is because the game has a lot of braindead builds etc. Builds that can kill you with 2 buttons like condi warrior for example. Skyhammer with its one shot mechanics makes this situation worse.
Its probably not that easy to understand if you play hotjoins or at low MMR. But at semi ok MMR ppl tend to use those specific builds and know how to use it effectively. So instead of two pull off attempts in an entire game, it will happen every few seconds. Up to a point that its no longer about pvp….but more about cheese or get cheesed.

They removed it because they were lazy implementing the water weapons on the new build UI, Capricorn was already hotjoin only

ANET changed the 1 week map rotation to random map so people had to get use to less specifics build and various scenarios.
That’s exactly the opposite of templates for specific maps.

1-You can dodge atacks that you can’t possibly now when they hit? You are really a boss.
2- Not really in the state of the game, they hardcounter you and that’s pretty much it.
3- Counter to immunities, wow you must be REALLY good.
4- Pvp Should be about outplaying you opponent with skill not being able to play a kittened overpowered spec and win due to balance issues.
I guess balancing maps instead of removing them is more what Id like to see.
For example : on capricorn they could just have added ground instead of water right?
And : Sky hammer, add some edges and remove some breakable floors.

That’s already the case :P And it’s why I added area knock backs and some stability. It’s true I can’t counter everything but it really helped.
Gameplay evolving around 1 shots doesnt attract / scares away hardcore pvpers. There is no real depth or interesting gameplay in 1 shotting someone by pulling him from stealth.
Stability does nothing since there is no point to use it unless you see someone incoming….and you whont see it if he popped his stealth in time.
