Total of 13 ppl streaming GW atm
1) Poor nerfs to calm the masses instead of solutions to actual problems
2) Unranked being completely unfun due to the baddies that play in it
3) More and more direction into condi meta, letting the game playing for the baddies
4) Overwatch open beta
P.S: From the looks of it staff thief could expect the next nerfbat. Someone that didn’t know dodge key existed complained about Vault’s damage.

5) there are many games that are simply better and more fun to watch

to be fair, in theory vault deserves to be nerfed. not because it’s broken or too strong in the current game, but because compared to backstab it is easier to land, has more utility, is aoe and deals the same amount of damage. it’s just another source of power creep.

Your second statement isn’t exactly right. There were “bads” in leagues too. It is normal. The majority of pvp players will be always at bad/average level. The real problem is matchmaking putting “good” players with/vs “bad” players which makes most matches really boring.
As far as balance goes, i don’t think balance between classes is as much an issue as elites vs core. Even in infamous League a lot of champs are extremely imbalanced. However League is free, champs are relative easy to access and there is always counter. GW2 is also free, which was great step HOWEVER in attempt to make as much money as possible Anet turned a lot of player who potentially would want to try out pvp away from it by making elites stupidly overtuned and mandatory.
Imagine if League required you to pay 50 euro to be able to compete in ranked. I doubt the game would be THAT popular now. While 50 euro may not sound a lot it is still a wall, a dedicated GW2 player wouldn’t mind to pay it but new player that just want to try pvp and suddenly finds out he needs to pay 50 euro for few traits will probably just go look for another game.
Also visibility, tl/dr: GW is not watchable for outsiders.
Gw2 was already hard to watch due to all visual effects, aoe etc. Hence probably thieves and wars were most enjoyable to watch back then because they have least flashy animations and you can usually semi-understand what they are doing (stab people in the back, slash across the face etc.). On opposite mesmer is probably most confusing class to watch and to explain to newer players and not exactly twitch friendly. Now instead of actually fixing that issue HOT introduced even more AOE spam, more visual spam (hello herald), more AI (sup condichrono). I played this game for years and even i can’t tell wth is going on in team fights in Pro League streams due to all the sparkles.
Compare to League: it does have champs with complex mechanics but generally it comes down to colorful lazers shooting at enemies, dashes/ports and some shields/heal put on teammates – you don’t really need to know mechanics of each champ to understand generally what is going on.
Lastly, pvp community died at launch. PvP was pretty much abandoned for really long time which pushed potential players away.
Also, vault does need a nerf – it is too rewarding compared to costs. I was one of the people during beta who asked for some kind of solution (e.g. evade) for long animation but it should have never come with such high dmg. As poster above said, it is just way better than backstab in every single way and it is not ok.

Hahaha its overwatch open beta now… every single streamer in existance will be all over that.
GW2 never really has that many streamers because it is still a relatively unknown franchise for the wider gaming audience. I’d say 90% of my gaming friends have no idea that the game exists or just have no interest in it at all.
Other than WoW and Runescape (WHY?) no other MMO has any viewers either, especially a year+ after launch. They cost money to play, are a niche genre and are just boring to watch someone stream.
I love GW2 and I have never watched a stream of this game. I use twitch nearly everyday and watch all kinds of games on it so I, in theory, would be one of the viewers here. In reality, why watch an MMO?
If you base your love of a game on twitch viewership you are playing the absolutely wrong genre. You need a cheap/free, slow, easy to watch, pvp game ala DOTA2, LoL, CSGO, Hearthstone, etc. Also note that all the top streamed games have ONE game mode and its usually PvP.
Poor game design, lack of inovation, extremelly lack of progression on WvW, balance team lol…..
Until they stop enforcing a broken system on players game wont get better.
Let’s be fair here! When the thread was created, it was 8AM EST on a work day! Most EU folks are at work and NA people are still asleep or on their way to work! Even if all the famous PvP streamers in the history of this game were still playing this game, most, if not all, would not have been streaming 4 hours ago!

This.
MMORPGs are fun to play but terrible to watch. GW2 is no exception.

It’s off-season.
1. It’s off season
2. When you posted it wasn’t even a peak hour for the usual streams.
Having an off-season also kills many people’s want to even bother.
Just having ranked enabled between leagues will help a bit but it’s most likely too late at this point.
Looks like this is the END.
The sky is falling everyone run.
Nah but GW2 still has a decent viewership for a MMO.
But at least I admit it!
PoF guys get ready for PvE joys
GW2 will always struggle on the pvp ends until profession and combat development are given priority, and the devs make balance separations between game modes.

Plus overwatch is a lot more fun
Watching other people play a time-sink genre is mind-numbing unless they have awesome personalities. The entire genre is built around slowly growing your character. compared to MOBA or FPS games where you start game → compete, MMOs are like watching paint dry. Still the most fun to play, though!
One of the good things about GW2 is that you don’t have to waste time “growing your character”. You can just PvP from the getgo and be on the same level as everyone else.

I really tried to like LoL and other moba games… but I simply hate the genre (hated battling pve elements for the sake of pvping later).
