Raise it to 50%, make it on crit… As it currently stands it does about 1k over 2 seconds with reaper and the mass majority of them run mercenary amulets… With that amulet they have no precision and the typical rune choices for necromancer don’t include precision either…

So basically unless they choose something entirely different than what is currently “meta” it will remove their ability to maintain 20% ish chill uptime from a single sigil…

The trait you are referring to is a trait that none of the condition necros run because there are better options in a condition build…

This suggestion is so off-base.

(1) Few (possibly none?) top reapers run sigil of ice, so I’m not sure why you think this change would affect anything.

(2) Many top reapers run either death perception (50% crit chance in shroud). For spite builds, decimate defenses (2% crit chance per vuln stack on enemy) is also popular. I’ve seen Noscoc run both on his spite build, for example. So even if sigil of ice was popular, your “shave” wouldn’t do much.

I was thinking it would be better to remove Sigil of Hydromancy.

Something else I’ve been lazily considering would be swapping the positions of Reaper’s Onslaught and Decimate Defenses.

id rather nerf chill of death or chilling nova uptime and remove hydro from pvp.

the actual question and theme of your theread is perfect but the bare fact that the reason you want to do it is you are seeming to find ice sigil too strong is making the whole thing look stupid.

When running Spite, decimate defenses, when running Curses, minor master and grandmaster. Also, DP is quite common when running merc. You’re the ne not being serious here

I am. It is quite strong when playing with viper amulet since you seldomly want to stand inside a lot of enemies without any defensive stats. So for me, using hydromancy is actually a waste.

Not everybody is running metabattle builds.

Reaper form needs a bigger tell, longer charge, higher cooldown, and nightmare runes removed.

Lets see, that big fat icon appearing above your head… and the long warmup of reaper5 are apparently not enough for you. You want to add some warning flash messages? Something along the lines of having an onscreen message flashing “WARNING WARNING REAPERSHROUD”?

Im sorry, but if you cant see reapershroud… then thats on you. Theres a kittening big SCYTHE there. Jesus.

And the only two builds that currently really profit from nightmare runes, thats terrormancer and condi mesmer.

I think chill uptime isnt quite as much of an issue as you think. The bigger issue is the amount of conditions a necromancer can generate in quite a short amount of time with traits. Take mediburnguard as counterexample. Burning really hurt, and having 10 stacks on you for any kind of length of time just kills you… but guard didnt have access to 6 other conditions to cover those burning stacks with.

Because most on weapon-swap sigils are kinda a bit OP atm. Theres a reason why nearly every build uses them.

I don’t use Sigil of Ice or nightmare runes at all on my reaper, nerfing either would do nothing really to me lol.

The problem with reaper isn’t any of those 2 rune/sigil but rather the high dps/might uptime they can achieve by synergizing everything while running a tanky amulet (mercenary).

Like I can have 25 might easily in team fights in shroud and my chills/poison tick way too high compared to everything else despite being super tanky due to PVT+Rise!+Shroud combination.

But those are tells when they’re already in shroud, not when they’re in the process of entering.

Because Hydromancy is very strong for almost every class, it’s just extra strong for Reapers.
