How many post we need to make for Anet remove the skyhammer map from competitive solo games. Who even thought that a map where a player with no skills at all could accidentally push a very skilled player into his death or a map with some many holes in the ground that you can drop to without having stability(some don’t have that much stability or pushbacks as other classes) is a great map for competitive play?
Do you have any clue about how many people leave or just go afk when this map shows?
Well i guess you don’t since it sill here. Leave it in hot join i don’t care but please remove this map from solo tourny, the majority of the players won’t miss i promise you that.
Whats even worse is that some people just reroll into classes with maximum amount of push backs and stability just for this map, so it instead of competitive map where tactics and strategy counts it turns into a fun mode map where who can push people most is what counts the most, maybe the Dev idea was something else for this map but it just doesn’t work for competitive play because like i said, some classes have tons of stability and push backs and some don’t.

Yeah pretty tired bout “l2 position yourself” crap…if you get a bomb engi or a permafear necro (Maybe with corrupt boon too) with any spec not running permastability (And that CAN’T run it just because build/class doesn’t allow too) there is NO way to get skyhammer without being pushed down, go kittening read kb and fear ranges before talking bs. Those who just say “don’t stand on the edges or stability” crap simply know kitten bout decapping specs mechanics, a far point assaulter like bomb engi is meant to kik bunkers out of points (Read again..BUNKERS, that means lots of stability/survivability and cc) and you have no kittening where to stand at skyhammer since only “safe” spot from kb is with your back on the asura gate but gess what? If you position like that camera just randomly zoom in and you can’t see kitten…
This map is broken and rewards lame gameplay, there’s nothing about skill or whatever, it’s just a spec war…who has the more kb, fear and so on wins. Or should we all roll bomb engis, permafear necros, eles with tornado, hammer bunker guardians and kitten like that in order to play that kitten anet? 95% of pvp community agrees skyhammer is just stupid and lame map and noone wants it in soloq except those few abusing it actually thinking to be so pro just because they can exploit (With their build not with their skills) a map that has been broken since its launch and only led to neverending problems and lame mechanics..
Hate this map. Hand 5 games yesterday. 3 times skyhammer. Played once against 2 guardians + 3 Warrior. Great fun as an Engineer without access to stability (yes I know we have now the super 5s stability on toss elixir).

In all seriousness, I still don’t understand why this map is in SoloQ.
Its secondary objective is a no skill point-and-click 10k+ damage that covers an area larger than the point itself on a short CD. At least the Trebuchet takes a bit of skill to use effectively!
Teleports constantly screw you over by not letting you teleport over the energy shield hole things when they get broken (meaning that you keep running forward, straight down the hole), causing any teleport stun break to be practically useless.
Classes who don’t have access to stability are at a huge disadvantage.
Most builds can’t just change in an instant to accommodate the map, there aren’t many viable builds as it is, let alone ones that offers stability, knockbacks, and fear.

As others have said, succeeding in skyhammer has very little to do with positioning. Sure, that will help you vs. simple knockback spammers. But that’s…easy.
The real skyhammer game means giving in to the system. Run a combo that either cannot be stopped or cannot be seen coming. That’s it—there’s no stability, or positioning, or stunbreaks. None of those are really important.
It’s kind of ridiculous. I’ll be glad when the map gets modified.

This without accounting flamethrower-bomb-toolkit engi on cannon, which is a pure joke.
Skyhammer is a hoot up until the point that you can fall to your death.
Eliminate that one mechanic (boundaries and make the glass floors unbreakable) and you have a good map.
It was a great idea but one that has too many bad ways to exploit it.
They should just remove it because, as far as I can tell, a good majority of people do not like it. Maybe I’m wrong but it sure seems that way. And please don’t post here telling me you like it I get that there might be thousands of players that like it but there are more that do not like it and since you can’t choose what maps you can play it seems to make sense to me to get rid of stuff that the majority doesn’t like in that type of situation. If I could filter out skyhammer for myself then sure you guys can play a map built around fall deaths to your heart content.
The bug with scorpion wire only knocking down and not pulling needs to be fixed. I’m tired of not being able to pull people into the glass because of this.
I think it sucks to be pulled, feared, knocked back, and any of the other ways I did not mention which ends up with me falling to my death… The Skyhammer map can be challenging to say the least, but I don’t think it should be pulled.
Don’t you realise that it takes a ridiculous amount of coding to have it removed from the rotation? But even before that happens, it probably takes 2 months of dev meetings to discuss the merits of having that map in soloQ but not in teamQ.
Yes, this is a very strongly worded post against the devs, but it does not mean that I think the PvP team hasn’t done their job. True, their current showing is really less than desired, their decision making reflects how they seem to not listen to the players, but we should give credit to the devs where it’s due.
Taking the time off your busy schedule to answer player questions is very very good, but I do genuinely think that the direction that the PvP team is misguided and playing the politically neutral ground.
Back to the topic on hand, this map deserves to stay in Hot Joins and remain there. The creator(s) of the map can be credited for making a kitten y map for Hot Joins, but not a credible map for competitive play.
Yoloq has 100 problems but Skyhammer ain’t one of them. It adds diversity to the pvp – something the game is severily lacking. I know it is frustrating at times (I myself even broke 1 keyboard and 1 mouse coz of it) but it turns into a challenge and fun once u start learning from your mistakes. Just have a dedicated Skyhammer built charachter ready for when it pops up in the queue and problem solved. You can play a necro, an engie, a guard, a war, a thief, a mesmer and still be successive inside the cannon. It takes a little effort on your side though and maybe that’s why ppl complain about it – dudes just got lazy and don’t want to put an effort into anything.
Not only this map is utterly crap, IT EVEN ALSO SEEMS TO BE BUGGED IN THE ROTATION !!!!
In 2 days 80% of my games have been in skyhammer, i dropped by 300 ranks thanks to this map and my stubborness to not lame the crap out of it like everyone else do.
I’m close to boycotting this map. I don’t care about my win ratio. This map is kittened up beyond repair. Ever second dodge or Withdraw throws me off of some edge, it’s ridiculous.
I just hate all the 4 vs 5 I’ll be causing.
I don’t want to grief my team-mates, but I hate this map to a point I’d rather have my hair pulled out than continue to play it.

I thought your original post was being sarcastic, but you were serious…….I don’t think there are many classes/builds that can stand at the door while getting chained stunned and bashed to death by a warrior. At least, none that I have come across yet. And once they move its bye-bye.
Or if you are a skilled canon room necro/warrior for example, you can move to the side of the door and fear as soon as the opponent comes through. Indeed, there are many highly skilled plays in the canon room.
However, you do bring up an interesting point about the size of the room. One of the common complaints about conquest is that the nodes are too small, giving an advantage to some classes and making aoe OP. In Skyhammer we have the most important spot on the map as an incredibly small area where one wrong move/cheese move =instant death.
In a way its like the devs took the feedback about spvp and tried to make the worst, most unbalanced map possible, by doing the exact opposite of what the community asked for.
I do like all the angles in the map of course, but in this case at least I think there is more cheese than wine, if you know what I mean.
It is, although as long as people think knockback spam is hard to deal with they’ll never recognize it. However, engi, thief, guard, and necro can all be pretty good, but not for the reasons people think. If skyhammer were taken seriously by top players, we’d see what the map is really like—and it’s not knockback spam.
tl;dr if two people are fighting on skyhammer, they’re doing it wrong. Just like all the people who charge into darnis’ platform thinking that stability will save them lol.

Speaking as an Engineer who equips Rifle + Toolkit + Battering Ram the moment I see Skyhammer queue pop up…..that map seriously needs to go.
Positioning DOES NOT MATTER when I can magnet-pull someone from 1200 range and then blast them off a nearby ledge before they even know what the hell happened. If they’re busy fighting (which they often are) it’s very easy to catch them with a surprise pull/knockdown onto breaking-glass areas…if it’s broken they instantly fall to their death, if it’s not broken then simply immobilize/stun them on that spot and that’s the end of them.
Thief can do something similar with Scorpion Wire and you can’t even see it coming since they can do it from stealth. Warrior/Necro can simply fear you off a ledge.
What’s this BS about positioning? Some classes have a blatant advantage over other classes on this map, plain and simple. There is no excuse for this map to exist.
I was going to buy a custom server and have it 5vs5 with no skyhammer and Capricorn (no password, open for everyone), but discovered it was about $20 with a $9/month upkeep.
As much as I love you all, that’s getting close to the price of a regular mmo sub so that’s that idea down the drain.

I like maps that demand some semblance of skill. The hammer’s power is enough without adding in all the other cheese.

That’s only because so few of the top-level players have taken this map (or solo queues in general) seriously.
If top teams sat down and worked out the truly best builds/strategies for skyhammer, positioning wouldn’t be part of the equation. The devs have confirmed that they are re-working the map, so I’m willing to wait and see what they’ve got.
