100% agree.
The lowest ranked professions are the ones with the least profession specific skills (War / Thief / Necro / Ranger have only 1 profession specific skill -their F1 / F2 for the ranger) and the highest ranked professions are the ones with the most prof. specific skills (With the attunements the ele has access to 20 normal skills, Mesmer and Engi have 4 prof. specific skills, and the Guardian has 3).
That’s not a coincidence, the more tools you’ve got in your toolbox, the better obviously.
Maybe introducing new profession mechanism for War / Thief / Necro could bring some balance?

How ? The previous “tier list” has the thief at the 6th position and now he’s at the 7th position.
How is that from top to the bottom ? Seems more like bottom to even more bottom to me.
Thief was never ever really anywhere above “average tier” in my opinion.
Yes they have stealth and burst, and in a deathmatch they would be OP.
But GW2 tPvP is not a deathmatch.
Thief currently remains the only class that still cannot fight on point in a point-cap game.

I’d actually go as far as to say that we never had a better balance than now in terms of classes with viable builds and we never had more viable builds per class! I love were the game is now!
If they simply focus the next patch on Skills/traits that are never used (there are soooo many that could easily be doubled in effectiveness), GW2 would be in an extremely good place IMHO.
Here are some traits they could look at:
Ele
- Rock-Solid (AoE-Stability is cool, but the investment of 30 into Earth-Magic is so huge, that it needs a biiiig buff to actually be even considered. I could see decent support-builds if it gave 3 sec of Stability and 3 sec of Protection)
- Written in Stone (same as above. I’d probably combine faster Signet cooldown and this one into one)
Warrior
- Physical Training (just bad…)
Necro
- Withering Precision (could be pretty interesting, but the proc-chance and duration is way too low. You should probably be able to at least keep it up on two ppl, so 33% proc-chance and at least 6 second duration)
Mesmer
- Mantras are still way too weak to be used
T1 guardian, mesmer, ranger, ele, thief, engi
T2 necro, warrior
Necro is good, but it needs better viability when its utilities are down.
Warrior is good situationally, but needs better sustain.

R29 Necro perspective. I feel completely outclassed as of late.
Actually this tier-list should be splitted into sPvP (hotjoin/custom-servers) and tPvP. Because the builds vary for these sections. That’s why mesmer in sPvP has a higher state as in tPvP, just because of the utilities he’s forced to use (portal, IoL). Also necros are not able to show their real potential in sPvP due no organized teamfights.

From what I gleaned yesterday burst warriors can just hit harder now, their play style hasn’t been affected much (and frenzy is still substantially nerfed).
The bottom line is if you could run them before you’ll be better off now, but if you couldn’t before you probably still can’t..

Read the patch notes or play a tpvp round. It’s the new FotM profession. I’ve played at least 15 tourney rounds since patch and the least amount of rangers I’ve seen in a game was 3 out of the 10 players. It’s usually 4, though, and sometimes more. Not saying lots of players= OP, but even a bad Ranger can pose a serious threat in any semi-large fight by just auto attacking and sending in pets, which are no longer easy to kill and do more damage now. They aren’t super OP, 1-shot kill, infinite bunker gods or anything, but they should be toned down just a bit for balance. As is they are too rewarding for how easy it is to play them. And no, I’m not talking 1v1’s. They still aren’t the best 1v1 class but this game isn’t supposed to be balanced around 1v1’s.
About builds, check out signets. They are the way to go now for survivability/ good damage but even spirits are viable in most teams as they bring a huge damage bonus to group fights now.
And finally, I think, with the exception of rangers being a bit over-the-top and warriors still being a bit below (although they are getting there), this is the most balanced the game has been in a while. Great job, Anet.

Yeh. Plus it is early and I havent really played much in try hard mode since the patch so…..hard to say for sure.

Ranger on highest tier, you guys are crazy… spirits viable, hahahaha. Dont really know when pets dmg got increased. The update only changed some activation times ( 2s to 1,5… really huge difference…) and added some health and toughness to some pets, so they don’t get oneshotted if not playing a beastmaster.
Rangers are only good when the player who plays em is good. I tried mesmer once and was owning ppl from game 1, without even knowing what i was really doing…
I think most ppl who think that rangers are the best class are pve players who just got in spvp and dont have a clue what they are doing… Most ppl, not all. Bunker rangers might be a bit overpowered, but not nearly like ele bunker in its prime, but the class in total, not even close

The Ranger pouting will pass, people are just running into more BM builds due to the signet changes and probably haven’t run into them before. They’ve always been one of the best 1v1 classes in the game as BM and the signet buffs have many more folks out there trying it.

Since the builds haven’t changed AT ALL. The only class that changed was ele really. So on the tiering list (posted by the OP), the ele should move down to A, and logically, rangers remain at B+, because NOTHING has changed since then, not even increased effectiveness (they are equally as effective as they were).

Well, i guess so, Wallach. And signets arent that great…signet of renewal is pretty much always on passive and stone needs too much investing to be useful. That combined with 30 in wilderness survival to get that nice condition removal (1 per 10 or all conditions to pet is good but not ‘great’) leaves little customization left.

I wouldn’t say that. The signet changes made BM builds a bit better than they were previously. Still, it’s not enough to really change their placement since it’s a role they were already going great at while none of the other roles got any meaningful changes. They aren’t capable of doing anything new, even build-wise.
And greatsword buffs were needed in order for them to get some playtime, they still do only decent to low dmg, but i guess the evade is nice
only signet that got better was the stone one (why would you activate signet of renewal, pets are too stupid to really benefit from 25% more dmg and that shout sick em is much better if you wanna use this skill for his active part), other classes got signet buffs aswell… so this is can not be the reason why rangers are so ‘OP’ now
