One can easily envision a wvwvw world in which players who participate at times when server populations on a map are reasonably well-balanced will be reasonably well rewarded; players who participate on a map when server populations are grossly unbalanced and are on the out-manned buff side will be richly rewarded; and players who participate on a map on the side that can turn that, most or all of the maps a single colour without thinking about it will get what they so richly deserve. And more power to them.

Be humble of where you came from and thankful to the people who helped you along the way. I’m sure PRX contributed greatly to SoS success.

You had multiple guilds join your server. ND,PTX,VoTF,TRA and you talked to many more. It’s not our fault we did a significantly better job @ recruiting. We recruited for NA prime and a few for SEA (Which resulted in the friends of the ones we recruited also coming). We didn’t recruit any for EU prime which was by and large “our” strongest timezone.

Thoughts for the day.

Historically, JQ has been a slow starter on weekends.
Some recent posts about “We are winning at T1, transfer to us” and “only the weekend is a fair test” got me thinking.

If your server is winning the score within 24 or even 48 hours, is that a proof of something? If this is important; why don’t I contribute more to making my server win on the weekend, too? So, I put in the hours, and effort to help make this a weekend where I tried hard to “win”. It appears I was not alone.

Crackers

I have seen crackers in a few matches and in the game at large, and apparently some of those creatures exist on JQ. I detest the “if the game lets me, it must be ok” thought process. I work hard to gather evidence on crackers, my current focus is on the “teleport/blink” variety. I have seen the vids on YT about terrain/undermap access, and believe that the maps/engine used for gw2 has to be made more robust. In addition, the client to server communication protocols need to be made more secure.

I have been contacted by another server about a hacker, and passed that on to every commander I could find. At the time, I was given nothing but a location (bay) and a map (SoRBL) and a class (mesmer). I repeatedly urged the contactor to document and send all their info to exploits@arenanet.com, since they are the only ones that can actually ban or remove someone. No Yaks were mentioned.

I have no reason to think that any of the big guilds, or most of the smaller ones endorse/encourage/accept this behavior. I fully expect that even if identified, named, reported, and evicted from guilds, these folks don’t go away. From my experience with reports; and I add reported folks to my FL to watch them, it takes a long time for them to go “dormant”. I would then guess these individuals get a new account, and continue on.

In another recent series of posts about wvw population if you had 51 servers and each server put 500/3(unknown accuracy) new players in wvw every hour for every hour of a match, you come up with 51×24×7x(500/3) potential players or 1.4 million players. I think half that is closer to reality.
Of those .7 million players, I would guess there are 10-20 “hardcore” win any way possible types per server ~ 20×51 or 1k. These folks appear to thrive on creating a disruption way bigger than their numbers would indicate.

Saying that a “server” cheats, is seriously flawed. If a Canadian kills someone, it does NOT mean all Canadians are murderers, and condone murder. With apologies to Canada, used just as an example.

After gradually rising up the ranks in the WvW tiers to reach Tier 1, Sanctum of Rall finally gets a crack at Jade Quarry and Sea of Sorrows. Unlike our final Tier 2 matchup, the fighting is constant and fierce at this level.

While we have some amazing combat performance when running our coordinated guild groups, we still struggle with 24/7 coverage and points-per-tick vs the other servers. So far, we have been starting out strong on the weekend, and the pie chart fluctuates between all three servers at different times of day as big pushes are made.

We aren’t too worried about the score, and our current goal is to give JQ and SoS hell while having loads of fun.

Score update from a freshly ninja’d JQ garrison

IMHO, while forum warriors create drama and shout out noise about fairness, courage, stamina manning up, growing balls etc , many gamers just get on with enjoying the game. To some this forum noise is a game in itself.

Some great fights are being played out ingame in spite of any lag, culling or queue issues! Hopefully a critical mass of gamers are still enjoying the game and will continue to play.

Anyone know the guild Tree on JQ? Glitching into models happen, but you really should port back if you get stuck, and definitely shouldn’t attack from inside of it. (no he didnt kill anyone, but it is poor sportsmanship)

Wow. Seriously, some of you need to get a grip. SoS had many, many weeks of winning first place comfortably, to include a nine week win streak. Seems some people got spoiled, and now they spend their time crying on the forum. I’m sorry things aren’t going your way…but, that’s how it goes in the real world.

Wait, so the kings of wvw have pretty much up and quit once they started losing? Honestly before you start acting high and mighty remember two things. 1. This is just a game no reason to get all kitten because someone beat you after you pvdoored to t1 and then won for 9 straight weeks. 2. The way most of the SoS forum posters seem to represent them selves is not as a great community but as a community of whiners. Maybe if you would stop having a pity party people would want to come to SoS.

er…I think you’ll find that OP was being sarcastic and is not from SoS.

besides which, SoS didn’t PvDoor to T1…maybe to T2 as coverage from most servers is complete crap until T2….and even then its never been great. Not having been in T2 for a while, I can no longer comment on the accuracy of the T2 coverage tho.

All that’s really happened, is that JQ managed to recruit some guilds and now have the numbers to be competitive across multiple timezones. As I don’t have the numbers to refer too with regards to which server has the highest WvW pop at any point in time I can only speculate that JQ is winning due to either (a) coverage, (b) a skill differential or © both.

If it was purely coverage, then you would expect that over the weekend, after reset, that things would be pretty much even (unless one server gets 2v1’d either intentionally or accidentally). After the weekend, you would expect that JQ would simply continue to pull ahead for the rest of the week (again, unless there is some serious 2v1 going on).

From what I’ve seen, SoR come out firing on the weekend and get a lot of enthusiastic WvWers playing all sorts of hours and are extremely competitive. As are SoS and possibly JQ. The scores never seem to get ridiculously unbalanced.

If any server had undeniably overall better players/commanders/guilds/tactics then we’d see them dominating more (or not, if they get 2v1’d and they would continue to do so throughout the week.

As we don’t see any of that (remembering that 2v1’s occurr either by accident or design – it doesn’t really matter why – and that as a result we can’t be sure of any conclusion) then my opinion is that JQ has better coverage / consistency. JQ doesn’t race ahead and stay ahead every weekend, so from that I’d suggest that JQ strategy etc is not a significant influence. JQ usually pulls away over the week to an (almost) inexorable win.

TBH, SoS needs to drop a tier, this isn’t a level of competition I honestly find fun. :x

Heh, I logged on this morning with an out manned buff in 2 BLs and JQ was fielding a zerg. Who really cares.

JQ has coverage holes. Any of our foes quickly identify them, and move hard during those time. As far as I can tell, these are not very big. I’ve shifted my schedule on when to play to help cover those holes, as a rational response to this situation.
Other servers have done this as well.
What we should not do on a daily basis is make this a full-time job.
Getting some exercise, sunshine, fresh-air, flowers and friends activity is an antidote to the “save-my-server” thing that can affect us. I have come to look at the Queues like the gw1 message: “You have been playing for 6 hours, please take a break”.

Just wanted to bring this to attention. This individual somehow placed himself on top of Redlake Tower in JQ BL. All the walls were up as was the gate. I only noticed him because I was putting siege up. Elemancer class. Sos TSym guild. I killed him and he came back about 2 minutes later. I feared him off the side to his death, loot bag even popped up. Within seconds he “magically appeared” right in the same spot I had feared him off from. He was dropping AoE in the Lord’s room and the npc’s were not fighting back because of his location. This was one individual. No mesmer, thieves, etc in the vicinity. Screenshot attached.

Weekend primetime reflects nothing. sure you full capped one BL. But we had SoR and SoS @ 3/4 caps. It honestly doesn’t matter on the weekends but if full capping one map helps win the weekend awesome!

I expect with the mass transfers that ensued before the cut off there will be a bit of a shake up in T1-T3 for the next couple of weeks.

SOS – my server – may fall a tier or so. We gained nothing in the transfer period. BG didn’t seem to gain much and are now a T2 server. Other servers like Kaing and Mag gained quite a bit and may keep rising. Its only natural with such a large number of people moving that things get shaken up. Its not that big a deal really. T2 or T3 might better suit our current coverage.

I see this as no big deal. JQ is clearly the strongest server. They respond quickly to attacks. Attack points of interest with aggression. They are winning for a reason. ATM SOS seems a bit lost and can’t get its confidence back. Even SOR looks better most of the time.

I read the posts for score updates at work. Otherwise I definitely would not even bother reading this thread. I learnt fairly early that its full of trolls and tears, neither of which I want to be a part of.
