As I recall, both CD and SoS handed our butts to us in the past.

To my fellow SORinators,

We have done well so far.

However, in our push to be the top ranked server – likely with a few setbacks, as to expect otherwise would be extremely arrogant – we need to keep these two thoughts in mind.

Discipline i.e. no running off when there is a mission at hand in order to chase after a couple of badges that we’ll get sooner or later anyway; always carry siege; don’t take supply from towers; and like that. We all know the litany.

And…

Discretion i.e. the right and responsibility to follow only those Commanders (other than those our guild has appointed or anointed) that merit following, merit being the operative word, and to ignore the others.

Why?

The reality is that in our rise through the tiers some of our Commanders will already have risen to, will rise to or even exceed their level of incompetence. It’s basic human nature. We will also have Commanders transfer in and Commanders rise through the ranks that must be evaluated. So discretion becomes the better part of, not so much valour, but of victory. Incompetent Commanders will lead us to disaster after disaster (don’t you hate being farmed) rather than to the victories we all desire – on defence as well as offence. Too many such disasters will result in, for lack of a better term, mediocrity, which I doubt anyone on our server aspires to. (At least I would hope this is the case.)

If a Commander – current, newly risen or immigrant – can’t cut it, we need to privately, in any manner appropriate, and publicly, as diplomatically as is reasonable, make our fellow players aware that this or that Commander should for the most part be ignored – his or her guildies being the obvious exception (and doubtless that part of the zerg that lacks both discipline and discretion –doobs for lack of a better term).

We need to do this at the guild level, Commander level and as individual players.

In a nutshell, going forward, we will have less and less room for error. Period. Full stop. Let’s not compound the problem by doing those things we know are best not done, or by blindly following any leader that cannot live up to our expectations and whose incompetence will in the end only lower our self-esteem.

To do otherwise would be complete and utter folly.

I don’t think SoR’s oceanic force will be enough to hold off SoS. Unless we had some new oceanic guilds transfer in.

Considering we had hour+ queues on weekends before all our transfers arrived last week, this week is probably going to rise to 2-3 hour queues 5pm-2am PDT.

As a Commander of the largest guild in Sea of Sorrows I wish all forces good luck.

Yet another WvW week of migrating guilds, this time SoS drew the golden ticket.

If you mean PRX they transfered at the same time as the db guilds (last week). If you think that most of the server is in the one guild then you must be on eternal. The other guilds are queing for borderlands

Looking forward to stomping some Aussie tail this week.

Their guild specialises in EB, so all of them go there while others go to the Borderlands.

Gave up after 3.5 hour queue.

Well SoR’s WvWvW is full of bots.

the que is ridiculous i spent 2 hours in it and gave up. Seems success has its drawbacks for SoR. I will wait out the current match and see if the flavor of the week guilds xfer out and the ques calm down. I f not I will xfer to a scrub server were at least the que is not all night.

Just had a guildie get in after a 4 HOUR QUEUE! So much for transferring to a new server for shorter queue times, EH!?

It’s been fun so far, SoS and CD really punched us in the face in the first few hours on our own borderland, the three way battle at Garrison was a blast! Trying to get a dolyak in to complete the wall upgrade was tough with the map control you two servers had on us. Saw a couple new strategies for siege placement as well, gotta learn your tricks asap! :P

Since week long matches started, Crystal Desert has been the king of third tier (among the other servers that bounce up between tier 2 and tier 3 with us). This week we are facing the new look Sea of Sorrows as well as the “best commander in WvW” who plays on Sanctum of Rall, so the question of the week is : Will Crystal Desert keep it’s stronghold on the 7th spot or will they finally be dethroned?

Btw, to the best of my knowledge, the only homegrown servers in the top 10 are Crystal Desert and maybe Stormbluff Isle as well? Homegrown in the sense that no one has ever transfered to us to help us win.

There are a few guilds that xfer to CD from HOD, but that was to escape the HOD queues.
