Fort Aspenwood’s Force of Chaos
We wiped our borderlands blue with a 10-15 man crew after TC either got bored or realised how much territory they had sacrificed for our garrison and withdrew the majority of their forces.
Well, as one of the TC players that was there, I can tell you that our determination to take your garrison was partly caused by the FA-whining-post here on the forums and partly by the many complaints in our chat about FA-corpse-dancing.
We knew fully well that taking the garrison while Yak was around would cost us more points that it gained, but several people literally said stuff like ‘better to take stuff from FA and loose to Yak, then let FA keep their stuff’.
That’s what happens when you are rude to others…
Sounds petty to me.

Bring it on. I’ll be cleaning pieces of you dirty roleplayers off my blade for months.
It’s silly to lump everyone in with the few kitten actually doing this stuff. If you want to play the blame game I’ve had groups of TCers (and people from every other server we’ve ever faced) spam emotes on my dead body and I honestly thought it was funny and a sometimes a point of pride.
I don’t personally dance on corpses unless they’re spies or just hanging around too long, but I will very often /dance and /beckon to passersby and /bow to anyone who fights me in earnest. Does that make you angry as well?
Oh and I don’t care if you’re an enemy or not, if you fall/jump/let me throw you off of a cliffside I will more often than not /laugh at you in game. That’s because I actually laughed out loud in real life watching you jump/fly/roll over the edge to your death.

The first few times I WvW’ed I let myself get hot under the collar from people corpse dancing over me. Then as I lay with my face to the sun watching hips gyrate over me I saw a sea of heroes come to my rescue. That poor sob had no idea what hit him. I laughed soooo hard it was a wonderful moment. Since then it doesn’t seem to bother me when I get danced over since I know that Karma is sometimes quick.
There are tons of good people on FA who want to have fun. Win if we can, but laugh either way. When I stop having fun is when I move on.

For what its worth, not everyone on TC feels this way. Most of us attack the most strategic target. That isn’t going to change any time soon. Your server happens to be a big threat™. There is nothing personal about it.
On a personal note, I enjoy fighting your guild. You are all very skilled. If you remember fighting a norn necro in tier 1 cultural – thats me.
All FA WvW’ers. These match ups are what it is all about. This is why we played when we won or lost by a land slide, this is why we played through terrible tiers, this is why we played when there were 4 other people on the map. There are literally people to kill everywhere you look these last two weeks. Objectives to take or defend wherever you look. If you ask me, this is awesome! If people want to double team us(not that I necessarily believe this is the case), why should we be upset by that? It’s simply more bodies on the ground after we roll on through. I for one am happy with where we are at and have had as much fun these last two weeks as I had in the headstart when there were battles to be fought everywhere you looked. Lets step up to the challenge and enjoy it while we can, before we know it we will be bumped up or down a tier and be in one of those landslide matches, which I do not believe anyone wants.
TC and Yaks great fighting this is definitely what WvW is all about!
It’s interesting to me that when yaks bend came in third place last week they didn’t make excuses and they worked with what they had to at least hold what they could, protect their homelands, and be as disruptive a force as they could be.
Far from dying because of it, I think we can all agree they are even stronger now, and they haven’t even had to adjust their working strat that much.
FA is the classic fair weather server and while I don’t blame the rank and file soldier out there trying everyday, I think the bulk of the responsibility falls on the FA guilds themselves that are either making poor decisions or not communicating them. Perhaps another trip down tier will give you a chance to veer away from the attack, attack all day long and spend more time protecting.
At this point, it might be too late. It will certainly be interesting to see next week if the map is nothing but TC and an even stronger yaks.

I agree completely. Don’t understand why some people are complaining about a great three way match up. It doesn’t get much better for Wv3. Go to tier 4 and wipe them or go to tier 2 and get wiped? I like tier 3 atm.
I agree, this match-up is great. It is a bit too zergy for my taste and could use 50% less people on all sides, but you can’t have it all.
2v1 or not, there are plenty fights to be had.
I know I like 3-way brawls, my favorite thing is to charge into TC/Yaks fighting each other and add chaos to it. It does happen occasionally.
I realize that overwhelming response to squash people in your home borderland is a very effective strategy, but it does quash fights and channels everything to EB. After all there is no travel time involved (wish they implemented CD on jumping BLs). We don’t do that, TC are almost always do that and Yaks do that during peak hours. That is probably the #1 reason FA fights 1v2 in FAB.
It’s interesting to me that when yaks bend came in third place last week they didn’t make excuses and they worked with what they had to at least hold what they could, protect their homelands, and be as disruptive a force as they could be.

FA will need to adapt in order to accommodate the strategies of their opponents, but I think there are more variables at play than you’re giving the situation credit. When Yak’s landed in 3rd, did they have to drop a tier in order to modify their strategies? What if the worlds in T4 don’t play in a similar fashion, and the “attack, attack all day long” achieves overwhelming victory?
Typically, an interesting and worthwhile competition involves an evolution of strategy, with an ebb and flow of who wins and who loses. One side does something that another isn’t prepared for, wins, and then the other side comes back and fixes their problems, forcing the previous winner to now figure out how to come out on top again. The flaws in one’s strategy are only made apparent after the opponent takes advantage of them.
We’ll see what the future has in store for FA. However, instead of conforming, I’d rather see innovative new aggressive strategies be devised to see if we can really play to our strengths more effectively than in the past. Innovation can only take place when we have the marbles to test new tactics.
I will continue to be amazed by players on this thread who continually lump FA players into specific categories, and negative ones at that.
Unless you play on FA, stop assuming who we are – which many of us are nice and good sportsmanship-type. Most are not whiny or boastful. And how do you know how well FA communicates amongst itself?
By the way- I do agree with many other players that these two weeks have been more fun than the previous two, where (unfortunately) the competition wasn’t overtly tough (although there were pockets of challenges, which I personally learned from).
But if other servers feel the need to degrade FA in-order to feel superior, I guess go ahead, if thats what you need.
Guys get back on topic before we lose another thread to this sillyness. The fights are great, and I don’t want them to stop. Can we not agree this last matchup and our current are some of the best fights we’ve had in a while?
Let’s just keep the smack talk on field. Do it with actions, this is a place for score updates and map changes.
I didn’t think of my post as smack talk but perhaps it came out that way. You are right I don’t see FA chat, I just see the results on the field. Last week, FA was a solid server capable of fielding full forces during prime time and the score reinforced that. Like it or not, the perception you were getting 2v1 permeated the entire matchup, and I think it hid alit of your server’s issues that were obvious to those fighting against you.
This week the talk is all doom and gloom and the games to blame. Yes, it’s not your entire server, and yes even TC has fair weather players that will probably leave if we get handed our butts in a new tier.
But that wasn’t even my point. My point is that yaks had far less to work with in the beginning and I believe they are proving that attitude alone can carry a server high even if you aren’t winning the matchup.
So if you want to keep talk like this out of the conversation, it’s fine, and ill not remark on it again. But how bout we keep the constant complaining about wvw too that is becoming so common. FA sinking tiers really doesn’t affect the game as a whole..

Honestly I’m beginning to wonder if these forum hurt WvW. The main thing that I get from them are that people are pissed off, and they are likely to only get more pissed off as we continue to get matched up together. And a game that gets people angry isn’t likely to keep their attention for the long run.
I think these forums are a part of the reason why people on my server (FA) feel like its a 2v1 a lot of times. I don’t think that either TC or Yaks are in a grand alliance, but I do feel that if I ever mention the number 2 and 1 in the same sentence that I will get bashed by both servers (and probably from some server mates too).
And I’ve heard from more than one person that the above has happened. Where people are annoyed with FA and have attacked FA to their determent. I know most of it is hearsay, but hearing it from multiple sources can get discouraging at times. I’m sure some people have come on here to just to vent a little before jumping back into the game, and I’m sure its annoying for both TC and YB.
Also I’d like to point out that FA has a good opinion of its self because we’ve always done well on reset. It can be very frustrating pulling in the lead after several hard fought hours to be destroyed in the night. If you are always doing well at reset and during prime time it makes you wonder why you’re losing overall. For a long while it was “night capping” and now it feels like we are often being double teamed. Anyways, FA is a good server. One that I love fighting for.
TLDR: These forums are pretty negative, but I guess that’s no surprise for a game forum.
Happy Story Time to uplift the mood of my post: To the Benders out there that were camping the jumping puzzle yesterday night, great fight! It was a lot of fun. I was trying to be a bit carebearish because I had had a long day reading a long article for my political science class and the brain was telling me that I could go jump off a cliff if I wanted to think much about anything. But you guys motivated me to fight like crazy. I hated you guys all night. You guys had 3 ballista, 2-3 arrow carts, and were building a golem? No clue why on that last one. I had a great time on my mesmer yanking you guys down into the pit. I had not so great of time when a different mesmer’s poorly placed portal landed our whole party right in front of your ballistas. Your welcome for the badges
It was a ton of fun when we finally wised up and started camping the front of the puzzle to keep you guys from getting any reinforcements, and I tip my hat to the awesome mesmer who was able to stealth all the way through the puzzle so that we could attack you guys from behind.
Thank you for the fun and extremely hard fight last night! Also I’d like to say sorry to the charr warrior in red armor who kept waving and trying to sleep. I was a little angry at your server mates at the moment. It was a good fight… even if it was a 2v1! (ducks around the corner really quickly to avoid any and all TC and YB player’s rotten tomatoes that are sure to coming flying now!).
There are no rewards for coming in 1st. No rewards for 2nd or 3rd. Why are people getting so upset about this? The way WvW is set up, the server coming in last gets rewarded the most since they have had the opportunity to figure out why they lost and where they need to improve.
Population issues and conspiracy theories aside, this matchup has been the closest and most fun in a long time. Great fights, a close enough matchup to the point where people are getting upset on the forums, and an opportunity to learn from enemy successes and failures. I’ve had a great week and a half with YB and TC, thank you for being great opponents.
My purpose in WvWvW is to fight people, laugh with my team about the awesome fights going down, then hop on here and mention the awesomeness of the fights that went down to the other servers. Almost like pick-up basketball with a group of friends, only we can’t joke around with the other team until later.
Every time incentives are mentioned as a necessity for PvP, my heart frowns.
I agree WvW is all about the fun and finding good fights.
however to look at it from the other side. rewards from WvW compared to PvE are way off.
for example last night (like just about every night) my friend and i log in and go to WvW. well he went right to WvW i have a few 80s logged out in Frostgorge and grab the T6 nodes real quick. anyways we are in there around 5 1/2 to 6 hours. i ended up with just over 200 kills for the night and about half the time i was running with the zerg taking camps and towers. at the end of the night i made a profit of 2 gold and got like 45 badges. i can make more gold in 1 hour of PvE.
Now when i log in tonight i will need to restock on siege weapons so half that will be gone. So anyone that does WvW only, will be able to get a legendary weapon somewhere around 2015. maybe a little sooner if they never help with siege or upgrades.

I can’t tell you how many times in team chat I’ve heard: Catas at west hills wall/Catas in Greenbriar tunnel/Trebs at Bluevale again!?
To whomever that TC Guardian was that had that duel with me on the side of the Sendaran(?) Hill cliff face in the TC BL. That was by far the most fun I’ve had in a W3 in awhile. And for that I /salute thee.

If this – by a cosmic chance – was when a ranger jumped on your head after you downed the guardian (the overall setup and time approx. matches), then he actually wrote in local something along the lines of “that was a great duel, mate” afterwards, despite knowing the poor dead Asura won’t ever be able to see it. I found the sentiment a bit strange at that time, but I didn’t watch the duel in question, just ran there after I saw the downed icon pop up.
So in case this actually was ‘your’ guardian, you can rest assured he clearly enjoyed it at least about as you were.

Same here. Or “did any of their golems survive that time?” Couldn’t resist.
Not gonna deny poorly executed golem rushes are silly, but I can chalk that up to a fascination with golems/roleplaying. Point is, you have to vary things up a bit, regardless of team.
To the D/D FA Ele that just fought a TC Thief at the back of Victors Lodge on YB BL. Great fight and I’m sorry we had people show up. Would love to know who would have won that.

If the Asura in question was wearing fiery red Draconic armor with blue cloth bits then yep. You falling on my head was completely unexpected at the time, but I’m glad to know he enjoyed it as much as me.

That’s very hard to tell, because all of you are completely red to us at the moment
I really dislike this part of team color mechanics brought over from sPVP. What is the point of having extensive color customizations for player characters when the only place where you actually get to meet real live people in good numbers then decides to completely negate the entire point of it?
I played quake and tribes too. Those were the days. Was in The Rangers clan for quake, and Silent Assault for tribes.
SHAZBOT!
God I miss the golden days of gaming.
Finally I saw queues in 3 of the 4 battlegrounds for FA and I’m proud that we had such strong participation this late in match. I hope not to land on huge queue times, but I do love to see multiple large groups doing things in each map.
@ the massive 50 person TC zerg that waited for 15 mins to get enough people to push titanpaw in TC borderlands against 10 defenders, why? Is there any way to fight anything other than a zerg somewhere?
Are there any smaller guilds out there who roam together who want to fight even numbers? If so, what map are you guys in at night, we’d love to fight in a map which doesn’t just have large clumps of defenders or attackers.

Exactly – FA are keeping us pressured on every single map at once. FA doesn’t have population issues – they have morale issues. When the guilds rally and coordinate they are matching TC blow for blow.
Something for the strategic minds of FA to consider:
In EB, FA and TC spent roughly 3 hours beating up on YB. The Yakkies lost their keep and had nothing left on the map. Neither TC or FA sent anyone into the other’s territory other than your expected <5man supply cap teams, most of which failed and were wiped.
Then GODS started hitting TC’s supply camps in numbers of around 15-20, and made a weak attempt at Aldon. When a large group of people starts repeatedly hitting your camps, trying to hold them, or makes a play at towers, that signals a shift in behaviour.
The end result is that I asked our folks to forget about YB and go take FA’s towers. As much as people deride playing for second, FA has the potential to drop a rank to 9th this week, and had the folk from GODS not begun rushing over into TC territory in numbers, we had no interest in hitting FA, as YB remain in 2nd place and are currently the strategic priority for TC.
When we pulled off YB, they regained their 3rd of the map. The net result is that YB gains points, FA loses points/towers, and FA ends up in a worse position than they were before they started attempting to raid TC’s territory.
I don’t expect this post to make much of a difference, really ^^, but if anyone on FA reads this and plays/commands on EB (especially from GODS), perhaps it’s something to consider.
It ‘is’ nice to see red back on the map, though.

I hear that there is a 100-men zerg sitting in TC Citadel for 30 minutes, afraid to come out and fight 5 lone FA single-handedly holding the entire TCBL, anyone care to C/D?

These past three weeks have been the most balanced and fun since launch for me. We’ve seen Yaks Bend all three weeks, and Fort Aspenwood twice. I hope this is the kind of match-up we’re looking at in the future. Two weeks is plenty of time to make it anyone’s game, even halfway through.
Good fights and good fun to our opponents this/these week(s)!

I don’t understand these posts.
They didn’t “wait” for 15 minutes. They came north after they took Bluebriar from your team because you had 10-15 people in the furthest supply camp that no one actually needed. That’s strategy, that’s what the game is about. Sorry if no one wanted to face roll into your ballistas and arrow carts with equal numbers so you can farm badges.
Yo GODS. thanks for the fight just now at AH. had me worried for a bit!

TCBL is in fact entirely green and all keeps fully upgraded. Welcome to visit!

I hear that after TC mustered the strength of 200 (took them about an hour or so) and finally made a push on Titanpaw, the three FA defenders (you see, it was three actually) simply walked out in protest, just killing some odd 100 while at it.
You didn’t mention any of that.
Good fight in FA AH earlier.

I guess rolling around maps in zergs of 50+ is “strategy” on the TC server. Whatever you gotta do to win I guess. The rest of us will enjoy the good fights and try and avoid the TC zerg “strategy”.
Aytrix, I’ll supply some screenshots of your server zerging tomorrow. Too tired tonight. I’m pretty sure I saw players from your guild right in front.
EDIT: Troops post removed…. but I’ll let stand what’s great about TC:
TC has a large presence of mature, casual players who are decent but not expert players. They make a mean militia when well led (which is often the case). That’s what keeps us out of higher and lower Tiers and we quite like our community including all the people that don’t fit into the above generalization.
(edited by Grimpaw.7493)
The point is every server zergs. At about 8PM Mountain time we were outmanned in FA BL and they had a HUGE zerg. By 10PM Mountain our server population started to pick up. I can guarantee at around Midnight our population begins to decline.
If complaints like this are normal for FA, then expect some severe forum beatdowns if or when FA goes a tier higher. Seriously, that is a lame complaint. We are all in tier 3 and pretty evenly matched. Some of you folks over on FA need to get over yourselves though.
I just wanna say that i love the fights this last week. I die alot, but i learn something everytime. Im looking forward to more brawls, battles and skirmishes with our FA and YB brethren. Lets keep it up and make it fun!
The zerg is nothing more than the amount of people that hook on to any given commander. More commanders..more zergs, but I will say that everytime a zerg starts to get big the Guilds start breaking off and thats really where our militia shines. You throw those guys at a target and they will siege and supply quicker than any other group of 15 guild tags.
Common sense though, if you set up siege at a camp.. you are basically saying please zerg, come destroy me. They love that stuff!
I want to put a question out there for all severs, no bias just a questions.
How would you feel if we had this same match up next week?
Personal opinions and server based.

I wouldn’t mind it in the slightest. Would be nice not to continue reading posts that are constantly complaining about different servers all the time, but the combat is really nice.

Yaks soldier here.
I wouldn’t mind it at all. However I do kind of wish we had more coverage to keep up. I’m on the WC and get to play in the evening/night due to work/family/etc obligations. We sorely sorely lack the manpower to keep up and one of the biggest reasons I end up buying gems to convert into gold each payday is to pay the repair bill, upgrade costs of captured keeps/supply stations, and siege funds. I make around 2g a night which isn’t bad, but I usually end up spending, depending on the action that night and opposing forces size, at least 1.5g on repairs and another 1.5-2g on siege weapons and upgrades.
Probably would be a bit easier in a guild that consisted of more than 5 people but meh. With all that said though I’ve been a Yak since day 1 of my game time and the way my server mates continue to push against the outnumbering forces (except for a handful of cowards that always run away unless we outnumber the forces 2-1… not many, but a few repeat offenders) makes it worth it to keep on keepin’ on so to speak.

I don’t expect this post to make much of a difference, really ^^, but if anyone on FA reads this and plays/commands on EB (especially from GODS), perhaps it’s something to consider.
It ‘is’ nice to see red back on the map, though.

I think that is the nature of this matchup. TC has the overall numerical advantage, and you get to choose who comes in 2nd, based on where you decide to focus (as was shown in your example – ie whoever you focus losing ground versus the other). The general theory of red and blue focusing on the stronger green rarely seems to play out, and looking over all the tier score standings atm, green is winning in every single tier. We’ll see if this continues for several months or if something changes.
I do agree with you btw that many strategic moves are not well thought out. Sadly all you need is gold to get a commanders tag
Oh, yes. I don’t disagree that quite often whoever is in first place can dictate who comes second. Once whoever is in first gains enough of a lead (25K or so) it is very rarely recovered, and whichever team is in 3rd place going into the match (red) has more to gain by taking on whoever is 2nd (blue) in terms of differential gain.
However, it’s not my intention to dictate who ends up 2nd/3rd when ’I’m’ co-ordinating EB – I’m more interested in hitting whoever is TC’s closest competition, or shows the most aggression towards us. I have no personal preference as to which of YB and FA take 2nd and 3rd, though I am enjoying the closeness of the race between you two. I’m hoping both servers flip back and forth between 2nd and 3rd over the last few days of the match, as there really is something to gain or lose for both in terms of position ranking.
While they’re likely outmanned, YB have kept quiet for the past 3 hours in EB, while FA came over and tried to hit Klovan. This resulted in TC sweeping out and taking Langor, my beloved Quentin Lake and Durios. Kudos to FA on their Bravost defense – I’m more of a defensive minded person than offensive (I rarely leave TC’s 3rd of the map in EB), and I made a few mistakes there, which FA rightly capitalised upon.
The result of that attempt on Klovan was FA ending up as the focus of TC’s early morning, which is unfortunate for them, but great for YB, who left us alone whether by virtue of being outmanned, or active, clever strategy.
I want to put a question out there for all severs, no bias just a questions.
How would you feel if we had this same match up next week?
Personal opinions and server based.
Well, it ‘will’ be the same match up next week, with the only point of contention being whether YB can sneak past FA for 2nd place and secure 8th position in the overall rankings based on differential gain (currently 7 behind FA).
I enjoy facing both servers. While I wouldn’t say I’ve been taxed defensively (I don’t count SM as part of my ‘jurisdiction’), I’ve had a chance to venture out from beyond my comfort zone to run some small assaults against both servers, and you’ve taught me a few things. There are a couple of people on FA I greatly admire for their level-headed posts in these match threads (they know who they are), and both FA and YB make holding SM a challenge (as it should be), and one which we fail quite a bit at, due to disorganisation.
Both servers have given me the chance to try a few new defensive strats, and while TC has the population advantage, it’s not ‘utterly’ overwhelming as in some matches we’ve faced (FA/BG/TC >.>), and both servers can and do outplay TC when they’re running at full capacity. Just as TC can outplay them.
It’s a good match up. If I played on YB or FA I’d think the same thing. And I’d be trying my hardest to implement improved strategies based on what I’d learned from our last 2 matches.

TC, thank you for the fun tonight.
Story time! Behold mighty Sentry of the Light decided that he must go forth into the dark depths of the eternal caverns deep under the Valley keep that his fellow soldiers so zealous strove to protect from the encroaching invaders. Upon entering the dark interior, the Sentry of the Light, being a strong and courageous norn guardian, was undaunted by the lack of a friendly portal master. So deep into the darkness he plunged. Now Koenix, a short and most assuredly less impressive human, though a fine elementalist if you ask him (shhh! we don’t care about other’s opinions, I know, I know, they aren’t the same, now let me get back to the story), heard of the Sentry of the Light’s inspiring adventure and decide that he too would strive to walk (or jump) in the footsteps of such a one as the Sentry! It took some time to catch up to the mighty Sentry, for he had long legs, and even longer jumps. Through a dank well, Koenix climbed, and along narrow walkways, and from spike-trapped pillar to spike-trapped pillar he jumped. Finally after slowly finding his way through a dank and penetrating blackness, with only a torch to remind him of life itself, Koenix climbed his way to towards a light at the end of a tunnel. He could hear voices ahead, surely Sentry of the Light was just ahead, and Koenix could find a small share and hopefully be of help to Sentry of the Light’s glorious quest to explore these dark dwellings.
As Koenix approached the light at the end of the tunnel, his torches sputtering out, he heard Sentry’s humble words talking of peace and shared adventure. Koenix wasn’t sure what to make of it, had his friend gone crazy maybe? had the darkness gotten to him? No, that could not be. Sentry was the light in the darkness, this cave, though vast and full of dangers would not have daunted him. Slowly and with great care Koenix stepped to the edge of the light, and there Sentry stood, bravely in front of half a dozen invaders! The very invaders who were currently pillaging and destroying the homeland above. Koenix stepped further back into the darkness, cursing quietly to himself. The hated invaders from the far off tarnished coasts, where they eat strange foods like toast, and have baffling customs called… “roll playing.” The words sounded strange even to Koenix. Why would you play with your rolls? Bread is tasty, and should be eaten, not played with, thats what children do… Strange, a strange people from a strange land. Koenix breathed in slowly and deeply, readying himself to jump into the fray. The odds were overwhelming, and though it would be his last adventure, he swore to himself that he would not allow his friend to die alone surrounded by strangers.
It was then that the Sentry of the Light’s calm words reached Koenix’s ears. He spoke calmly and fervently of his righteous quest, and how he would like to continue, and that he understood that if it were not possible today, then another day. Koenix peeked around the corner again, this time taking longer to look at the situation below. Sentry of the Light was peacefully communicating with the invaders, though it was difficult seeing as they didn’t understand each other’s mother tongue, but with much bowing, waving of hands, and kind gestures Sentry was finding a way to communicate.
Now this was a difficult concept for Koenix, he was an elementalist that fought with both fire and daggers for a reason. He thrilled in the dance of battles, of always attacking and never giving his opponents a moments rest. Did this talking really have a place in his world? Koenix looked down again. The invaders were nodding and talking among themselves, and smiling?! Finally, they waved to Sentry, and beckoned him towards their camp.
Slowly and with great care, Koenix stepped from the shadows, but before any of the strangers could notice him, a large young norn, with a powerful bow jumped from a ledge above screaming what even Koenix could tell were obscenities. Roughly something like this “Woooot! Phree Badgers ov Oner!” It was very vile. And with his mighty bow shot Sentry of the Light! Sentry’s armor was not of the best quality, and the arrow pierced him through and through. He fell to the ground, three arrows protruding from his chest.
“NOO!” called out Koenix! Not his friend, not the brave and mighty Sentry of the Light. With tears in his eyes, Koenix came forth from the safety of the darkness. Now Koenix wanted to go to his friend, hoped that maybe he could mend his wounds, but dared not leave his perch above, fearing that all good will was lost, and that his attempts would be futile.
Then one of the invaders beckoned, and then another and another. They moved with care, keeping their hands away from blade and staff. Koenix realized that these strange people would allow him to go to his friend, either to help, or to at least spend a few moments with his friend before he succumbed to death’s waiting arms.
To his joy Koenix found his friend barely alive. It was possible, that with the right care, probably a long time rubbing the ground by his head, incanting a particular healing spell, that he would be able to raise his friend from his defeated state. Slowly he began the process. It took a long time, for Sentry was gravely wounded.
“Woooot! Phree Badgers ov Oner!!!!!” Koenix looked up suddenly. The vile ranger was back! With a cruel grin he drew back his mighty bow, and released! Quick as a flash, Koenix used an ancient spell that his teacher had taught him, and turned himself into a mist. The arrow passed through him, not leaving a scratch. Frantically he rubbed the ground, trying to whisper the incantation faster. It wasn’t going to be fast enough… Koenix was surprised to see many of the invaders frowning and waving their arms as if disagreeing at the lone ranger. Koenix felt himself solidifying. He wouldn’t get Sentry up in time. The ranger was moving closer and closer, still yelling “Phree Badgers ov Oner!” over and over. Another arrow was loosed. Koenix rolled to the side, and summoning the wind, knocked the ranger to the ground. Now Koenix can be an angry young man, and he thought of killing the ranger quickly if nothing else to end his torrent of strange words. He had killed Sentry of the Light!
The thought of Sentry, however, reminded Koenix that war and strife were not the only ways of the world, and so, while not as good as Sentry, Koenix strove to emulate his example. Ducking behind a rock he mended his wounds with a healing water spell. The war cry came from around the one side of the rock, and Koenix knew that the crazy invader thirsted for his blood, and so he ducked around the opposite corner. Around and around the boulder they went, Koenix striving to fend off the ever continuous flow of arrows from the screaming ranger.
This strange dance of even stranger partners went on for what seemed like an eternity. It went on until from around his boulder, Koenix saw all the invaders shaking their heads in what looked like disagreement, and then one of them cheered and looked him straight in the eye, giving Koenix a slight nod. Koenix nodded back.
Koenix summoned to himself all four elements of earth, water, air and fire! and like a whirlwind he stormed around the rock towards the ranger who was still yelling in his foreign tongue. “Phree Badgers! Phree Badgers! Phree Badgers!”
First he used air to stun the ranger and throw him to the ground, then fire and arcane energy to singe him. The ranger scrambled to his feet, and sought the company of his friends. They however stood aside, clearing the arena of everyone but Koenix, the ranger, and they dying Sentry of the Light. The ranger dodged the next blow that Koenix threw at him, and used an ancient nature magic to restore some of his strenth, but he hadn’t noticed that Koenix had used the time to begin the incantations to a powerful earth spell. The rocks rumbled and the ground shook beneath Koenix’s feet, and with a flash of lightning Koenix unleased the powerful spell upon the ranger! Rocks surged from the ground! Throwing the ranger to the ground hard.
The ranger strove desperately to get back to his feet, but his strength was spent. Koenix thought about reaching down and cutting the vile man’s throat. He remembered however that Sentry was still hurt, and so, leaving the man in his disgrace, he went to his friend.
Still it took some time, but with great care, and the right spell, Sentry of the Light was able to get back to his feet. The other Tarnish Coast invaders, welcomed Sentry and Koenix into their camp. After some more bowing and hand waving, several of the invader set out with Sentry and Koenix in their quest to explore the cavern. In the end, an illustrious golden chest was found containing many valuable items.
As was the custom of Sentry and Koenix upon finding friends in unexpected places, they performed a synchronized dance for the enjoyment of their new friends. To our surprise and happiness, the former enemies from a strange and far off land knew of this dance, and joined in happily.
Whoa, that was long. Sorry for the novel!
(A special Thank you to the guild with the Tag [OOTT], and also to [TV]. Those were the two main guilds I noticed there. It was a lot of fun, and it was really cool of you guys to let my friend and I through. I really enjoyed having a great experience with your server, and felt that I should compliment you guys as awesome and classy. I know it was only a few of you in comparison to your entire server, but your kindness reflected well on your community and brought my opinion of the server as a whole up a notch). Thanks for the fun night, and bravo to anyone who read that long somewhat badly written story. I’ve never role played before, so I hope that I didn’t offend any of the pros over in TC with my poorly done work.
Bedinar that was a great read, made me laugh too! Kinda wish I was there to witness as it would have made the story even better.
