All you TCers make me proud. XD
Score Update:
(You’re welcome)
That’s a really even situation. That pie chart is almost perfectly split into 3rds and the PPT are all quite even.
I think this is a good match with good servers
WvW has but one incentive for [ULTD], war. Winning said fights through superior tactics. The server may not be number one, but when we hit the field it’s your keeps or your blood. We’re going to take one of the two, if not both.
Isn’t that why we bought this game?
I have to say some of the tactics I have seen you guys use, makes me grin. Yes, I get my rear end handed to me, but I always learn something every time. Believe me, when I see ULTD, I tend to think twice before acting. And I like that.
I am one of the WvW Commanders in ULTD.
We have one goal in WvW: Prosecute our enemies and kill them repeatedly.
Often times we forgo the opportunity to make a server wide tactical decision in favor of what we do best: WvW wide murder. The battlefield is our home.
If we see an opportunity to assault a tower only that another server’s proud zerg can continually push their group against our might few, we will do it and farm them for an hour.
If we see an opportunity to put up crossed swords on an objective with soul purpose of drawing out as many zergs against us as possible, we do it and then continually blast our way through your forces.
We like to let you regroup, take a tower or a camp and feel confident. Then we like to smash that confidence and roll your groups and zergs up into nice tasty loot bags. The feeling is even better when we hear you left the zone to go to another.
We might even let you kill a few and give the illusion we are running, only to turn around and punch you in the mouth.
You can take this message as a chest thump. We have already played in the T1 bracket as a founding member of the Titan Alliance. We have fought against the best and beat the best. We came to FA because there are fewer queues and the enemies we would face would outnumber us. More killing for us. More QQ tears to collect into little bottles and give to the WoW players as mana pots.
If you see our tag on the battlefield, its because you are right where we want you to be. It was not coincidence that we showed up on your screen, it was planned. We know how to manipulate the map to get our enemies to feed us kills, bags, badges and fights.
Good fights to everyone and see on the battlefield.

Actually find most ULTD users in the borderlands very easy to take out. You have some skilled people in EB now and then. I find the JPN guys more skilled individually.
This was a discussion we had a lot in DAOC as well. Individual player skill in 1 on 1 fights is great, but it’s less important than functioning well as a member of a group. Since the 8 man group scene DAOC had hasn’t really shown up here in GW2, the most important aspect is being able to function well as part of your server, working with others, coordinating, going where you need to be before you are needed there.
hmm oh well if we get matched up again..and get bored might aswell all meet at smc for a day and have a dance party plus campfire , cakes foodfight and brawling….oh and have a silent minute for the 41 golems that died to yaks oil.
Look at that beautiful pie graph, all sliced up nice and evenly.
Mmmmm exceptional! Thanks for the update.

That would be awesome. I’d show up for it.
Millennium Matchup site’s numbers have us all matched up again. There’s not much chance of any of the three of us getting bumped out for a while.
this has nothing to do with the regular discussion, but does TC have any other players then thieves?
playing in EB today and started to get frustrated when it took 15 minutes to down a perma invisible thief. then i ran into another thief immediately after that. then another, and another and another.
i played against at least 15 different people, all thieves. when we took a tower, it was defended by all thieves. in one hour i found only 2 people from TC who where not thieves.
I think, and I’ve been noticing this too this past week, that W3 class selection is starting to mimic the meta from TPvP. Higher and higher numbers of D/D eles, thieves, mesmers and guardians roaming around and less of everything else. Of course I bet it doesn’t hurt that those are the main classes when new players look up videos for W3 have successful 1vX montages all over youtube being. Other classes just don’t have the same tools to pull that off reliably.
Maybe the class representation isn’t tilting that way but anecdotally it sure seems like it.

Dance party? I’m thinking Thunderdome Party. Big circle of players and two men enter, one man leaves type stuff. Longest match of the night of course would be when two thieves enter because the combatants won’t be able to target each other..:)
Welcome to the thunderdome, b@tch!
I love the idea.
10 minutes of glorious slaughter against TC at the Vale. Surrounded and outnumbered. We meant to just roll in and take the camp, but TC does not back down so easily. We took advantage of that and had a blast. Thanks for the fight!
I definitely feel that necromancers, rangers, and engineers are both on a different(lower) power level than most other classes, and also far less represented in wuvwuv/spvp.
The necromancer and engineer classes are plauged with a million bugs/foibles and the ranger just seems kind of… bland.
All three are, in a way, ‘pet’ classes, if you count the turret engineer.
This really has been pretty fun the last two weeks. We have had some crazy battles, and as someone pointed out earlier, the epic battle over AH Tuesday night was a good time. I think the highlight for me was our crazy rush on the wall when you guys had a large group on the north AND south ends of the wall. Good times, good times =)
Score/Map Update anyone? Please, and thanks.

I don’t feel underpowered at all. My necromancer is a beast in WvW. I think in this case its the perception but not reality. Rangers and Engineers feel much weaker to me though.
EDIT: I will say though, that Necromancer takes a lot of practice to get down right. Use of Deathshroud and its timing is essential to being a good necro. Also, condition builds aren’t good for WvW imho (and for some reason most necros think its the only good route to go). I’m basically a power/critmancer.

Yay! i am different! I play a Ranger in WvW and I do see some others but not very many I suppose.

I disagree. I think to play Necro’s well or Engineers well requires a lot of careful thought.
There was a necro on FA that defended Bluevale against 4 people and managed to kill 2 of us. Spectral armor is pretty much needed on nerco’s for WvW I think?
Rangers though? Ouch, it is getting to the point that I am like “A loot baggy!”
(edited by Urrid.4593)
Coral, spectral armor is in my lineup all the time. As well as spectral walk. It generates lifeforce faster as well as providing protection. I also use the trait that generates lifeforce for every attack with a staff. This allows me almost constant use of Deathshroud. Finally, I am one of the rare necros that uses 3 second stability on entering DS as well as 3 second retaliation.
I refer to this spec as “Ghostwalker,” because it is designed for damage, survivability, and to control the ebb and flow of large battles (pushing groups back, kiting with channeled-DS skill when moving backward). One of the biggest problems necros face is going into DS mode we become prime target for CC. With stability and good timing, I can survive a very long time and get all that DS-loving to the masses. My final skill is usually epidemic, but I also randomly switch to other skills based on the situation. I also switch back and forth from Lich to Plague for the elite skill.
P.S. Sorry for veering so far from topic.

It really is a fight for second at the moment, which is a shame because all servers have dominated at one time or another.
Fear our golems, heathens.
Amazing fighting in FA tonight everyone. It was a lot of fun, thanks for the fun fights TC!
Great fights in Stonemist the last couple of days
So I’ve seen GODS members on our server(TC) if this is just to troll us.. cool.. but if you guys seriously transfer to our server.. should I tell you now.. that you should rather stay on your server, cause #1 we do not need you, #2 we do not need people who transfer to win, #3 Stop creating queues on our server, #4 WTF? #5 what does the rest of FA think about this, #6 there is atleast one other guild I’d rather see transfer than this massive player guild? #7 is this just the action of a few misguided commanders who want to mess with our server?
this is just my personal oppinion, and in no way I am to stand for my guild as a whole
(edited by Sunshine.3452)
well, with GODS (~600 man WvW guild) having transferred from FA to TC, they went ahead and showed their true colors. Very disappointed in their leaders, and GODS in general, who turned out to be bandwagoners just like so many guilds.
GODS, have fun with the queue times. Hope you’ll soon come to realize the mistake you made.
TC, have fun in tier 2 :-)
It was actually about 400 member guild once all the inactives were removed. And not all of us went to TC. I don’t understand why they just didn’t go to Sea of Sorrows. If you’re going to transfer to win instead of building something up. Why stop at the next rung?
And here it is a couple of hours later and GODS members are attacking FA in WvW. That is disappointing. They could have or should have, waited until tomorrow’s reset.
So there is a guild with members on two different servers in the same matchup now?

we are in a middle of a transfer to a better sever, we got tired of all the trolls on our sever, and only a select few helping win the WvWvW. We are also had a problem with some people within the guild so this is a kind of cleansing and a restart on the guild to make it what it was oringial suppose to be. It was decided that it would be best to move over so that we could be apart of a sever that had a supportive community that work well with everyone, instead of what was experience personal at FA. this is not meant to be an insult to anyone and this is just me speaking. If you do not like it ok that’s fine you don’t have to
TC, have fun in tier 2 :-)
TC as a whole, is neither ready nor is willing to move up in tiers from what I understand. I just don’t know what this means to us as a server, and while I don’t have a commander tag and I don’t represent any hardcore WvWvW guild, I’ll have my reservations regarding working with them on the field, atleast for the time being.
Anyone on TC worrying about GODS transferring should understand that we are going to restructure our guild. It will no longer be a gigantic guild that anyone can join. It will instead focus on having fewer more loyal members. We are not causing any queues seeing as how only 10 people transferred so far, lol. We are not bringing hundreds of people.
Also, GODS are not transferring because TC is winning. Any GODS members saying that was not there for the long discussion we had.

exactly!
Okay maybe I am just very sceptical to the point of being paranoid, but why transfer to TC anyways, why not try to restructure on FA?
So what are you transferring for?
I think it’s more accurate to say we are transferring away from FA than transferring to another server. TC was picked because it has what FA lacks. killer touched on some key points, but I think Derv can explain it best if he wants to.
I’m on Tarnished Coast, unguilded, and would just like to say: Welcome, GODS members who have decided to join us. You have your reasons, we have a (generally) supportive, positive community, and so long as ANET allows free transfers, each and every server will have the chance to host some wandering players. Really, I don’t see the reason for any drama.
Although I can understand if FA feels a bit … bereft?

Yeah. Welcome nonetheless. This game shouldn’t be a job for anyone, people are in it for fun. I can understand sometimes in large guilds it turns into a job and fun can be lost. If thats the case, again welcome!

You taught me a new word today lol…
But we’ll get by :P We’ve still got plenty of talent here on FA
Once again, thanks for the awesome time on EB tonight FA and YB. Was a great time.
As for GODS, welcome! We already baptised one of your members to the religion of the Golem God.
I believe you’ll enjoy your time on the Toast. Hope there are no hard feelings with FA! <3
I understand GODS has its own reasons for transfers, and I’d like to gladly welcome them, if they’re willing to make TC their permanent home or atleast consider it, rather than a one-week thing. Also I just hope this doesn’t affect overall action over the next week. FA, please continue to bring the pain, I know you can! I play for a limited time per day, and don’t want to be just killing krait and rabbits!

So long as the folks that transfer do so understanding that both EB and TCBL already have decent structures in place at most times of the day, I’m sure they’ll be welcome. It’s not that TC dislikes the idea of more dedicated WvW’s (indeed, we require them), but more likely that folks are leery of a large guild transferring and expecting to dictate actions moving forward.
Also, if the numbers transferring are small (as compared to the numbers of GODS folk I’ve seen zooming around the map in EB), it’s unlikely to cause any major imbalance to either TC or FA.
I’ve mentioned in this thread in prior posts strategic errors I’ve seen from the GODS folk, and if you intend to be in EB frequently, I look forward to working with you all and improving your strategic game (just as you will improve our WvW capacity). There are some clever GODS players I’ve come to recognise from various skirmishes at Golanta – if any of those players do transfer, you’ll be a great asset.
I do feel for FA, though. FA is fortunate in that it has a number of dedicated WvW guilds (Pro, Ultd, UK, PTX to name a few), and I sincerely hope the loss of ‘however’ many people from GODS doesn’t diminish your desire to beat me over the head with a stick in EB. ^^
Good luck to both YB and FA for the reset tomorrow – looking forward to another week of seeing what you throw at us.
~Nyari Cil, Queen of EB.
- what does the rest of FA think about this
This is anecdotal, but I’ll say it anyway. A few are worried, some are happy since they didn’t like GODS, but most just don’t care. All of us were laughing at Derv’s tantrum in Lion’s Arch though. I’m personally apathetic since WvW will be still be fun. Although, team and map chat should have a little less drama now.
Yeah so the real reason GODS as a whole is moving is because a small group of our top players (15-20) finally got fed up with the leader of GODS and decided to move to TC for a fresh start. Instead of cutting his losses he is throwing tantrums and now apparently moving his entire guild to TC to follow us (to spite us??).
My apologies to TC if he actually goes through with the move. I’ll just say GODS leadership hasn’t been known to promote cooperation or play nicely with other guilds/commanders on FA.
Any Gods who don’t want to leave the great community that is FA, there are plenty of guilds that are recruiting all you have to do is ask.
My take on this situation is that alot of the negativity directed towards gods (mostly towards a particular leader) was the lack of good strategy and the inability to lead the large numbers they tried to organize in a map. On several occasions team chat lit up with CAPLOCK messages demanding people stack up and not run off. I think all anyone wanted on FA was for gods to shrink to a good core group and let the rest of their members join other guilds or start a few new ones.
Lastly, IMO joining the winning server in the same tier you were in is a big fail, whether you did it to win or not.
