As a Yak’s Bend player I want to say I salute TC and CD in this match. Not only has it been incredible fun but it is good to not see blatant hacks as we have seen previously by other servers. I think removing the orbs has been one of the best changes ArenaNet has done so far.

Not really… Every server has zergs. At times it’s even a good strat to zerg the other team’s borders. I actually wish CD would do it more often.

The complaint with TC’s zerg was about the unwillingness to fight, or attempt to take defended points when they could just zerg around avoiding combat. I would think this is due to having a large number of lower level players, which is fine. TC has a larger WvW population and many of your strategies reflect that.

I really don’t see why some of you are so defensive about it to be honest.

And what about the mindless nightcapping zerg of CD that just WvDoors goes from borderland to borderland with 80 people, and once they see resistance they leave instantly? :P

CD here, and tend to play on the night crew. A lot of the time we will PVdoor until we start losing one of our naturals in our own BG, which is when we have to go back for defense.

And sometimes a bunch of people really do love the karma train of PVdoor and would rather let our BG fall than miss out on that karma, and it saddens me.

The fact is that for the majority of the weekend YB and TC have had uncontested borderlands while they both attack our CD borderlands all day long – and as part of the CD defensive squad I am really enjoying that. The fact that you guys have been pushing and pushing without giving up has lead to a lot of fun fights, and its understandable why you would focus on us because our server has a real problem claiming / upgrading keeps, so we should be the first target as we have a BG full of wood walls and then one keep fully upgraded that we have to fall back to. This week is a hell of a lot more fun than the last week.

Just wanted to say as a member of PiNK that I totally love Pro Baddies. I can’t understand what you guys are saying most of the time but you all are awesome and I am happy to fight with you. <3

TSL has been having a fantastic time this week for WvW. It’s nice to be in a match that is a little more even. Hopefully this is what the future of WvW will look like as it’s exactly what TSL came to this game for.

Well, the difference is we’re in 3rd place and need all the points we can get during the only time we really have a chance to pressure the other two servers. During the night shift the goal is usually to take as many points as possible, because it’s harder for the lower pops to take them back.

We also have this huge issue where we need to defend our borders constantly throughout the day from both servers, (which baffles me a bit as to why the Yaks aren’t spending more man power in TC borders). With so much pressure in our home territory, trying to hold points in enemy borders is a lost cause.

CD has it’s own shortcomings to be sure, but “mindless zerging” is more of a luxury we can’t afford than anything else.

Ps. We’re just discussing strategy here…

Truth! CD and YB will probably be trading places tier 3/4 for the next few coming weeks. FA or TC will have a chance to move up to tier 2 depending on how close the matches are in tier 2 (if they are one sided by having a tier 1 drop down to 2 it makes it easier).

YB, FA and CD are imo rivals because it seams our scores have been very close (CD beat us YB out a few weeks ago because it was basically 1v1 and there coverage was polar opposite of ours we learned from that , We beat out FA because again it was 1v1 and our weekend crew put in lots of hrs over night which is how CD shut us down.) next week i imagine FA is going to want revenge, CD will dominate tier 4 and bump either YB or FA back down (most likely it will be us YB because we are approaching two weeks in Tier 3 while FA had a bi this week and is gaining so many more points than anyone in Tier 3, really they are approaching TC only like 40k points behind they might end up green of tier 3 before week is over.)

aside from that its been a great week all the servers here deserve to be in top 10 servers and you should all be stoked that the match has been so savage.I wish CD could stick around i kinda dislike facing FA but maybe next week will be better than last weeks 1v1.

I think that staying in the top 12 now insures some decent fighting. On PvE servers like CD that is good enough. Rise higher and there would be Ques.

No, we fully upgrade everything, and then we give it to the enemy on a silver platter.

Not when I am playing. I have to personally run around and upgrade everything every day and I run out of money quickly . It is a huge problem, and more guilds on CD need to step up and claim / upgrade / actively watch keeps in our BG. Most likely I play after the upgraded keeps get lost after the time zones shift, and then they just remain wood walled all day long because no one else will step up and try and defend.

Well, it was good fights and definitely fun, but your recount stopped being accurate after “CD retakes garrison in 5 minutes with rams”.

You missed:

CD loses Hill keep and Lake tower while they were taking back Garrison.
CD mass wipes in lord’s room of Bay.
CD attacks Bay gate again while their water gate gets taken down by 4 people with 1 ram.
CD withdraws from Bay and loses garrison again 10 minutes after taking it to the TC reinforcements from Bay.
CD loses WH because the gate was only repaired to 20% after the golem assault.

Then the reset happened. I don’t know what happened after that because I left the map.

I can say that I’ve had more fun in WvW tonight than I have in a LONG time.

CD took Woodhaven, then managed to get enough people to build up siege to defend it. After a couple of good attempts by TC, they gave up to go harass something else.

RIOT, you guys gave me some of the best laughs I’ve ever had, taking Godslore on the Crystal Desert map repeatedly, and letting me constantly catapult you from Woodshaven, then coming after our tower.

I’m not intending to be rude, I honestly have had an kitten load of fun defending against you guys. I rarely get to break out my trebs or catas and go to town on zergs with them, so I have to thank you for this opportunity.

I really am looking forward to fighting your tenacious kitten again soon, but for now I have to go get some work done.

All I know is I came home after work and had 4 hours of battles on defense. Not bad. Though too many supply runs. At least we have enough peeps to fight back a little. Guild KH locked down Dawn’s so at least CD could try some offense.

Most of these posts have an element of that too, this isn’t supposed to just be to handshake both competition servers and be reserved about your own, it’s about enjoying moments in WvW as well which mostly seems to consist of people talking about killing the other side. Blowing hot air is really no big deal. Keep up the good fights all!

Big shoutout to the CD and YB guys for what was quite a lengthy amnesty in the EB JP, we had fun goofing around with you guys at the top, there was quite a lot of us from each side up there in the end.

But again, that’s based on opinion rather than fact. If someone’s going to infer that another server is only good at zerging and not good at anything else, don’t think nobody’s going to come back and try to dispute that lol.

I think it’s fine, it’s a morale booster for some of them. I’m pretty sure we all have our own tales of our own victories, but we don’t really need to. We’re on first place. :p Quite frankly, some people in FA are worse in my opinion.

Inb4 somebody says something… The reason we’ve gone into CD Borderlands and capped your stuff is because you were pushing on us in EB so we decided to go to your BL to take some heat off our amigos. We didn’t bother with YB at the time because, well, they weren’t pushing into EB and their keeps were all upgraded whereas yours were all wooden

THIS. I was happily surprised upon entering the JP to see a CD Charr guarding the ledge.. I proceeded with extreme caution and gave a heads up in map to anyone entering to be on the lookout.

After having a YB pass me without incident, I tottered along the edge of a stone wall before overtaking him.. whereupon a fellow YB hopped around the edge and fired off 3 shots before realizing I was friendly. XD

Vesper (shout out) saved me loads of time and effort (see: frustration) by letting me know Ebon was on the lookout for me and to stay put. Rounding the bend, I bristled at seeing a collection of CD at the base of the portal puddle. Come to find out, I was able to waltz up and get a lift entirely unmolested.

A few more hesitant runs into CD upon reaching the chest later, bowing, waving, and cheering ensued before the dance party started. Was the largest collection of cooperative players I’d seen in the puzzle in a long time. It was unnerving but awesome. Thanks again to all who made it possible!

..still say this is the best match yet. Looking forward to meeting you all yet again on the battlefield to hone our fighters, strat and commanders further.

You can catapult us any time! We had a fun time trying to hold Godslore, but I didn’t think we could take Woodhaven but we wanted to check it out. There was a lot of fun back and forth from Woodhaven to Godslore to North AB.

Mad props to YB fighting us in TC borderlands last night around 11-12 Mountain time. You guys took half of the map incredibly quickly and had us scrambling until we finally got organized and started hitting back. We took back a few camps and then flanked you at the bay right as you took out the outer south wall, at which point we had a really great back and forth at the inner wall – you finally forced us to retreat inside and we were able to hold against the push (thank goodness for a reinforced gate) and chased you out. I’m guessing most of you left the land at that point because we met little resistance as we reclaimed what you’d taken, but it was a great night! Definitely the best week of WvW to date – this is what I hoped it would be like!

So TC just cheesed their way thru the back wall of Redbriar which is laughable being they outnumbered us defenders at least 2 or 3 -1 there. It is stuff like this that will hurt you guys in tier 2, you cant be afraid to fight equal or your 2 to their 1 guys. You need to step that game up if you hope to compete up there. Just saying..

Cheesing our way.. wait – my question is where did the idea of us being ‘afraid to fight 1 on 1’ come from? Because we have a large number of participants in WvW who both like to group and others who form smaller squads?

Honestly asking because I’ve been run down by mobs from both CD and YB at times (we’re talking 7 versus me) and have smashed into both servers with each of our respective zergs (which was awesome by the by).

Thoughts on this week:

Firstly, TC isn’t moving up into Tier 2. There’s a vast 80 point differential between TC and IoJ that isn’t going to be overcome until such time as TC has a blowout week in tier 3 (unlikely), or IoJ or SoR suffer from the plague that is mass transfers off their servers, leading to them dropping substantially.

TC doesn’t belong in tier 2. We don’t have round the clock coverage, we don’t possess enough organised and dedicated WvW guilds, and we are still terrible at defending when certain folks aren’t around to ensure that we do.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m pleased that we’re sitting at the top of tier 3 for three consecutive weeks, and I believe that’s where we currently belong, but anyone on any server who thinks we belong or are ready for tier 2 is very wrong

After almost 2 straight weeks of being trebbed from OL when we own Stonemist Castle in EB, I’m pleased that folks are ‘finally’ beginning to understand how to counter that, and why it needs be countered promptly. Our competency rate has risen from about 25% to 40%. That’s still not good ^^, but it’s a marked improvement. There are still a bunch of other problems with SM, but too many to list here :p.

TC still needs to improve drastically when it comes to the defense of our towers, the upgrading of them, and the building and replacing of ‘cleverly’ placed siege. It’s all good and well to pat ourselves on the back for another week where we’ve come out on top, but there are still problems that need to be solved.

To CD: In EB, you tend to run the same offensive strategies, and at least when I, or certain other defense minded people are about, these are easily countered. Your 45min sieges of Klovan at 6am in the morning are good fun, but the pattern is predictable.

Sat morning, when you took WC easily – that was absolutely terrible defense on our part, and you deserved to sit there trebbing Lowlands Keep for half an hour. Again, it was our more defensive minded folk that set up counters to that scenario.

For the record, I’m the engineer who is persistently at Golanta holding up the cap – you folks kill me a lot, but around 50% of the time I and others are able to prevent it being capped long enough for reinforcements to arrive.

To YB: I haven’t really had to defend against your incursions in EB as much as I have CD. As with Golanta, I and others have held up multiple attempts at Rogues. People underestimate just how easy those camps are to hold when you’re willing to die and run back. I’ve watched you make several attempts at WC – often I haven’t required our zerg to handle them. I did enjoy the time you built a treb in the middle of Rogues. I had to suicide run my way into it 4 times to keep dropping bombs.

All in all, it’s been the best match TC has had in a long time, and I applaud both CD and YB’s tenacity. There has been a marked rise in folks exiting the game as they’re about to die in this match, which is unfortunate. I’m sure TC has our own quitters. I just wish certain thieves and D/D Ele’s would accept defeat gracefully. They know who they are ^^

There was one DD Ele from YB that I had a dual with for around 2min outside WC, which I ended up winning after we both went to downed state. That was a lot of fun, and the /bow was a measure of my respect

It is stuff like this that will hurt you guys in tier 2, you cant be afraid to fight equal or your 2 to their 1 guys. You need to step that game up if you hope to compete up there. Just saying..

We probably all feel that same way about the other servers at some point. I’ve seen groups of YB, groups of TC, and groups of CD camping in there for hours. The one I have personally seen the least of is my own server (TC), but I don’t delude myself into believing my server doesn’t camp the jump puzzle as much as any other server.

However, coming here to complain about being “cheesed” because a server decided to take your tower through the undefended part, and then complain about being outnumbered when your server was actively camping the puzzle at the same time is plain silly.

This will definitely be interesting to see. I think it’s a given that NA primetime will be closer than what it is now. The big question is off-peak. Last week we were up against Yaks. After reset when primetime ended, FA was up by 900. In typical FA fashion, we collapsed overnight. Yaks was up by 110k Tuesday morning. The match ended with them 44k ahead of us. FA dominated Tuesday morning until reset and a lot of our progress was during off-peak. FA was trying to get recruits from other time zones at the time. One EU guild decided to move to FA and was trying to get others to join. There were many rumors about how many transfers we were getting. Yaks players during off-peak claimed they were seeing more FA players. Strangely, FA players were not seeing new people and said they saw less Yaks players. After the start of the current match, some players investigated and found that a lot of the transfer rumors were false. There were only a couple of guilds transferring and maybe a Japanese guild too. The original EU guild that said they were transferring had only just finished transferring after the reset.

Maybe FA really did get more off-peak transfers than we think we did. There were probably a lot of individuals who transferred due to a bandwagon effect and we just didn’t notice them because we were looking for guilds. But I also think a lot of Yaks players stopped showing up over the week for whatever reason. I hope we really did get a lot of transfers so we can be competitive against TC and not get dominated again, but I’m really not sure. We are destroying Darkhaven in off-peak even though Yaks told us DH had some decent coverage at that time, but comparing common opponents (Maguuma and Dragonbrand) it looks like the FA of two matches ago would still have won easily.

Got pressed hard in EB early morning today by YB. Trebbing Aldon’s from Rogue’s, trebbing Lowland keep from Pig Hill, etc. Then they seemed to get distracted by CD waking up and trying to take back their keep. CD got the momentum after that and siezed SM while we (TC) were trying to break in at the same time.

Then it kinda switched from there, CD trebbing from Rogue’s, SM, etc.

Was fun.

Sadly 2 things will happen for sure….

1/ There’ll be a Huge increase in Alt F4….FA are masters at it…..hadn’t really come across it much until our match up with them. Then it seemed like every other player was at it…..That’s where one or two Yaks have caught the habit from this week.

2/ The forum will become a lot more toxic…For some reason FA have a very high opinion of themselves and get bent out of shape really bad when things don’t go their way…Just about all of our matchups on Yaks to date have been played out in good spirits with plenty of mutual respect on all sides were and when warranted….
Last week’s matchup with FA was the first real exception to that trend……I can’t say I’m looking forward to their whine fest again next week…Will prolly stay away from the forums during that match up.

I was watching your match (thread) last week

I’m pretty sure it’s the ‘well, we’ve won’ factor kicking in. When you’re ahead by 100K, while your fairweather folks and primarily PvE oriented people will still queue, your ‘regulars’ queue less, and do less, because we don’t need to. We want close fights, or the scrappiness of weeks like those against Blackgate, when we can fight back against the odds and learn new things. Weeks when we dominate offer less incentive for those who enjoy a challenge to play.

The difference to the coming match between FA and TC is that we won’t be stuck with the dead on arrival HoD as the third spoke of the wheel this time around, just like you at FA are stuck with them now. They utterly imbalance a system designed to have 3 relatively equal servers competing. TC smashed FA when HoD were in the tier, and now FA is bopping Darkhaven for the same reason. What I’m interested in is how the score will be when TC can’t just run over FA on ‘every’ map in the morning, because YB should have substantially more presence than HoD ever did.

I still expect some map capping to take place, but I don’t envisage TC ever owning all 4 maps at once. We shall see!

The thing is…no one can completely control an all volunteer army. You guys talk about each other servers as if it was some sort of cohesive unit. Which its not. No one wields any authority over the actions of any player except what they earn in the eyes of the peeps they command.

So, yeah…some people camp certain spots. Some peeps could really give a rats rear end what some toon calling itself “Commander” is telling them to do. Some folks out there are so new they are just following the zerg and hoping not to die.

Lets not play the blame game by blaming entire servers for the actions of players they have absolutely no control over. Let the kids camp the JP’s and the rest of us will continue to have fun playing honorably.

Oh, right >.> You are correct. DB had a fairly decent presence the first night, but not much after that. TC has faced both ET and HoD (both DoA) and SoR/BG prior to this match, so the rankings have been very broken for a very long period of time ^^

I’m just happy to finally be in a state/tier where we have servers on a relatively equal footing (CD, TC, FA, YB). Yes, CD is stronger in the AM, and TC tends to have more overall coverage thus far, but winning or losing by around 50K by the end of the week is still a very good match for all involved.

We’ll also have to see what effect the patch has on the following match. I can guarantee TC’s numbers will be down due to the new PvE content, but I’d expect that of any other server in tier 3 also.

Speaking of jp and kids. My kids LOVE the EB JP. They are always dissapointed that it’s not a shutout for a safe run. We ran it a few days ago to get dead end by BEAR in the darkroom. So we did some WvW. However, my son keeps going back again and again. He’s a little trooper.

Otherwise it’s been a tough match. The only reason it seems we are winning is due to population spread. I’ve had a lot of fun. keep at it everyone

man, that puzzle is brutal. the first time i ran it, it took me 3 hours to finally get through. and that was with no one trying to stop me. i can get through it in significantly less time, but still, i’m looking for a mesmer to pay for a port to the top. they don’t ask, i tip. it’s really cool of them to stay in there and help people up, they deserve to be rewarded for it. it always seems to catch them off guard when i send them some cash though. i wish more people would throw them a few silver tip regularly. i’d like to start getting people into that habit, but i’m rarely ever in EB enough to do so.
