Tsym wants to run large numbers they should leave. This is not the tier for them because for the most part our guilds run 20 – 30. I don’t know what BP is fielding but I know what EA does. Tsym may only be running 30+ (which I doubt I’d go with 40-50 adding in the pugs would be 60+) like they said but the amount of pugs following them probably doubles that. I understand why they are leaving they want massive zerg blob against the same. DB does not do that for the most part and this is why you aren’t meeting any challenge against us. If you split your zergs into two with the pugs following you. You might find more competition.

DB has the biggest zergs I have ever seen in any tier, I thought PRX &SF 60 mans were bad but NNK is madness, “NNK zerg incomming”, “How many?” “Over 9000” can be heard on TS, if I’m flipping camps in my 5man on an empty map, NNK dont send 5, they dont send 10 to make sure, they send a 50 man zerg to get the supply camp back and thats just a portion of the main force, my mind boggles at how big that guild is.

I am talking about NA prime time guilds. NNK-o’clock and TFV-timezone is a totally different time then NA prime time. During this time we que on all four maps it is DB prime time. NA time is our weaker time if not weakest time.

Pretty interesting… thanks for the info, at YB prime time we can only queue EBG for 1 hour or less and another borderland if we’re lucky and people is extremely motivated, now i feel better for my server, you guys have a pretty bad performance for those daily numbers…

santi is right. Without our asian population, DB would be tier 5 or worse. NA weekdays mid-day is a veritable ghost town. I was on GoM before, and it felt the same, except on GoM it was like that 24/7.

santi and anyone on DB say without night-capping DB wouldn’t have enough for the next tier down, let alone this one. Tken and lonusX say DB has overwhelming numbers all the time. I wonder who is right?

For the most part this really hasn’t been a bad match up, yeah SoS kinda fizzled out after their first week in T3, but it’s not been that bad at least during the times when I play there are some really good SoS teams out there. Looking at the score right now SoS is holding their own, looks like a lot of people hopped back into wvw after the last patch. Hang in there! lol

On reset night, TSym+others totaled about 60 coordinating together (62 in the channel iirc). If you take off scouts, etc., you were probably talking a group anywhere between 40-60 running around against what seemed to be, to begin with, similar numbers.

DB has okay NA presence, but it’s correct that their SEA presence is huge to the point that being able to pick up those points then that don’t really start to get retaken ‘til well into EU primetime is probably the main cause for the points disparity between them, YB and ourselves. I wouldn’t call our SEA presence bad by any means, but DB’s seem to operate ‘til at least a couple of hours later than ours making mustering a defence difficult at times. Similarly, YB have probably got the strongest NA presence, but you guys seem to be running on a comparative skeleton crew for most of the day outside of that. I’d say that SoS does mostly have all-round coverage but it’s not that numerous at any one time. I know the numbers we fielded on reset night in terms of organised guild groups and I wouldn’t be surprised if it weren’t at least 20% less than DB or YB to be honest.

It’s not about when a server is strong, it’s when it’s weak. When someone comes on here and says “we’re outmanned 24/7 because server X always has 60-man zergs in all maps” (overexaggeration), they need to be set straight. DB is winning because of SEA, and SEA only. The rest of the time we struggle to muster enough troops to keep half our BL (midday weekdays) or we’re going back and forth (NA primetime). So the conversation is not about what tier we belong in, it’s an attempt to accurately compare populations throughout the day.

For us NA is about survival and mitigating the damage. =)
If we can keep our +235 during our weak hours, that’s a win in my book. It’s not usually the case, though.

It’s nice to wake up to a shot of points in the server’s arm, after a hard day’s work of being outmanned.

hows the WvW scene in this tier? I am from T1, looking to transfer to either T2/T3/T4, can anyone offer a unbiased opinion?

In T1, its currently mega zerg ball vs mega zerg ball, where 60 to 70 rolls around and much skill lag problem for me, I just want to see if other tiers have such issues.

T3 right now also has the 70+ zerg running around, but I honestly think it will die down a bit in a few weeks once the rank xp push slows up. The real issue in T3 is coverage. The match up we have had for the last 3 weeks is decided mostly about time zone coverage. Dont get me wrong, there are certainly great fights, small groups can have some fun, and there is a little bit for everyone.
The down side is the weekly match result is decided in the first 24 hours. DB will win no matter what, and the only other factor is how much SoS is going to push for third place. Not sure how much this will change if SoS drops and maguuma comes up, but we have been stuck with the same 3 servers for 2 weeks straight now. Overall I like the T3
Sorry, forgot to add that in T3 right now Yaks Bend is the NA coverage server

If you like smaller groups, I think you’ll find T4 more appealing. It’s rare to come across a small enemy group who isn’t being followed by 10 to 50 others. It happens, but it’s rare. NA prime time is going to be zerg fights here, which is fine if you like that kind of thing.

Keep in mind that everyone is still trying out the new patch, on top of the people coming back for the Super Adventure Box. WvW activity has doubled since the WvW update. It’ll die down once the shininess wears off (hopefully).

T3 has been enjoyable now that it is more “evenly” matched. The only problem with this tier is that all 3 server’s primetime’s dont overlap often enough resulting in skewed PTT during different times of the day.

Before the WvW update you were able to find small group/solo fights frequently. Not so much now, but like i said, hopefully it’ll die down just a tad. Everyone likes zergballing because now they see the true numbers of the enemy.

This is a tougher question to answer since it seems more random. Not had it since the patch even during one epic 3 way fight that had likely at least 200+ (adding the 3 way zerg up), nor have any of my guildies had it. There do seem to be frequent post on the subject however

Yeah, after the first two or three hours of it, Yak’s mostly gave up and DB seemed to have a much smaller presence. Admittedly during that time was entertaining – we were just holding onto Garrison and had the NW gate open, the NE gate and wall open, the west inner open and the outer water gate open. Most of the other gates were only hanging on at ~50% or less too. If you’d put many more holes into it, you really could’ve called it Swiss cheese. We eventually decided to trade it for Hills and worked up from our corner though.

How’s the skill lag issue, is it noticeable during NA prime time?

I’ve only had it once since we hit T3 and I’ve been in the thick of several large 3-way fights recently.

I’d say you have to go down pretty far in the tiers to find worlds that cannot put up at least the occasional 50-man zerg (saw a video of one in T6 recently), but skill lag doesn’t seem to be as much of a problem and, frankly, outside of T1, the pressure to be in WvW 24/7 and put in extra hours for the sake of winning isn’t anywhere near as great. SoS is teetering between last in T3 and dropping into T4 and even we aren’t going over the top to try and pick up points.

There have been some very good fights this week. The end of culling has allowed commanders to choose their fights and the current T3 playstyles have allowed “me” to go back to solo roaming the map.

A very good defence of Longview by a tiny YB force last night and some good small forces fights were had around the map.

I know of a white haired ele DB commander who is part of NNK or BP does the laugh thing above several of our commanders bodies. In response a few of our commanders do the /disagree haha.

I personally don’t do anything – I’m thinking about the next target or talking on comms for strategic placement.

Also – bravo to EA for the SoS BL bay cap late last set – your zerg was relentless on attack. Even though we had seiged up we couldn’t withstand your 4th wave. I was impressed how well your commander adapted to our fluid defense and made quick decisions on what to do. (sorry this is so late – I am either playing a ton of GW, sleeping, or working – not much time to post like this).

Also – there was a bunker engi with whom I was solo fighting against early this set on Friday by hills in one of the BLs. Kudos to you – after 5 mins of fighting we called a truce and bowed we went our own ways (with each of us doing 3 jumps). You are an honorable man with whom I would share a fireside drink.

BP members will never do such a thing, let alone the commander. We conduct ourselves with dignity at all times on the battlefield.

There are no white haired elementalist commanders in NNK. I am a blonde elementalist commander but I do not wear the NNK tag when I command. I wear EA, and I have never nor will I ever laugh on a dead body. I have not commanded since reset night anyways.

I’ve never seen anyone in NNK let alone a commander laugh on a dead body or do any emotes out of disrespect.

I have to second this as well – NNK are a very well respected guild and actively tell their members off for emoting insults, especially /laugh because we do not think it is nice when it happens to us so we do not do it to others. NNK is rather huge though with 500 members capped and a large chunk of whom are active in WvW, with significant chunks active in WvW around the clock.

I have been running with NNK for a few months now (since I started WvW a few months ago) and know of no white-haired elementalist NNK commanders – if any others saw any member do it, they would be chastised, let alone commanders.

Sorry you had that experience, hopefully the /laughs end for all nice peoples anywhere in any map (and world peace and all that good stuff too! Excelsior!)

p.s. I have to admit I have seen team chat posts when playing about how a so-and-so loser commander was just pwned but that’s rather different from /laugh as an emote. Loser commanders that get pwned many times in a few minutes serve as good examples to the wider WvW community on how important the lives of Commanders are for morale (both for the Invaders as well as Defenders)
