4/12 TC/FA/Kain Week 6
Its not petty, its reality. Videos of players exploiting are ALWAYS reported and removed by moderators. In addition, branding entire servers as exploiters is not encouraged, regardless of someones frustration level.
I say good day to you as well.
If you feel you have a valid reason behind you reporting someone then sure, by all means go ahead, I’m not stopping you. Yet, then to go and make a post… Telling them you’ve reported that? This isn’t runescape, you are not 12. We don’t need to hear that you’ve reported someone, nor do I think that it adds anything of substance to this thread.

This tier is currently the closest NA matchup in point-spread with less than 10k difference between 1st and 3rd. I’d say this tier is still the most competitive.
Yeah, someone mentioned this on my guild’s forum. I hadn’t looked over all of the other scores (since they don’t really interest me), just ours.
So yeah, big picture-wise, Kaineng is still hanging on, I guess, if only barely. The problem is, Kaineng HAS to have a strong weekend in order to win, and her coverage formula has been solved by both TC and FA. Any time we manage to get a PPT lead it is small and short lived (we lost about 60 or 70 PPT as I was writing those two sentences), whereas FA or TC can both pull down 250+ for most of the day fairly consistently. If we lose by less than 50,000 this week I will eat my boots.
I wonder what T2 will be like when Dragonbrand comes. I bet they’ll be pumped.

DB has less NA then you do
All DB literally has is Asian coverage

Unless things have changed drastically DB will have a very rough time in tier 2 whereas any of our servers that drop to tier 3 will have a week of steamroll.
This was jus yusterday, so yush, KN’s great~
Um… have you seen the scoreboard recently?
As soon as you stop looking at the scoreboard, you will have fun.
heheh… I’m entirely too competitive for that! I mean, obviously I’m still having enough fun to keep playing the game, but I won’t be happy with WvW as long as my server is thousands and thousands of points behind with zero prospect of catching up, much less even staying in the same tier.
It’s one thing when you’re just a PuG, this kind of thing didn’t bother me as much when I was solo running back in the day. But now I’m in a huge guild and I often command 6 or 7 hours every day, so it’s inevitable that I’ll become emotionally invested in the score. Weeks of having all the progress I made during my command undone within an hour or two of leaving has made me a grumpy charr.
As am I Sarabi…..Competitive I mean.
But felt the need for a repost of a previous post with a footnote:
Good afternoon my fellow Kain members,
Yes, it has been a long battle and we have been fighting the same enemy for weeks now, but I come here to appeal to your inner strength and KAINENG heart to regroup this week and lets do what we know how to do! Some of our own commanders have come on here with posts of doom and gloom.
Uplift the morale of your server, not bring it down, Do not cheapen your members efforts! And for some if the fight is to much for you….well……
We have the skill, we have the players, we have the knowledge! KAINENG is NOT done, and most of us have NOT GIVEN UP!
So lets regroup mentally and come out fighting the way we know how Kain!
RED is RED.
Footnote;
Some of you, appear to be paving the way for a bailout on Kain, in teamspeak as well as on the forums, with the naysaying and talks of giving up, inorder that you might be comfortable with your future choices.(?)
A lot of guilds, large and small moved to Kain with various agendas and reasons only clear to themselves. None the less, we are where we are and some intend to keep Kain alive and viable as this is HOME now.
It’s easier to give up, break down, move on and leave a mess THEN to have heart, encourage, rebuild and fight. I’d imagine “pugs”(I dislike that term) step into wvw with the hope of making it better for our server and trying hard.
Is it a perfect world….no. Are we worse off then any other server…..there is always room for growth.
I’d ask that you keep in mind- it’s better to rip a band aid off rather then to pick at it.

I had a valid reason and you couldn’t stop me if you wanted to. The poster may want to know who called him out in case he needs to chat. (What is runescape?). The next one will be reported and reminded that this isn’t the place for those videos.
Good day!

Dragonbrand, I’m not sure how I feel about them. They try. My opinion, from what I’ve seen, their players must have the lowest average skill out of any server I can remember in WvW.
On the other hand, they seem rather fearless. But it’s like being gummed to death by pack of elderly chihuahuas.
Just saying. Whee. Let’s keep this match up going.

Lol, awesome visual.
DB isn’t bad and were actually really fun to play against. I dont think they would be as strong as Kain if they came to T2 though. It would be a one week visit unless their population and coverage have changed drastically in 6 weeks.
I guess we will see what happens.
I already predicted last week that Kain and FA would fight for second, but TC seems to be doing us a favour by always turning KN BL green.

Yup, it’s their home away from home lol
Just to nip it in the bud… I just scored two yaks on the road outside Foghaven, and one of your guardians (level 48) partied me. Never said anything. Weirdness.
You can get a lot of mileage out of Hide in Shadows, Steal, Shadowstep, Shadow Refuge, and Blinding Powder on top of Cloak & Dagger. Those Uncatchable caltrops really help take out dolyaks. ^^
And yeah, I’m not even going to actually attack Foghaven when that many of you come at me that fast. Heeee!

Well, to be fair, it’s a heck of a lot easier to turn their BL green than yours. Your response times are much better, and you actually do mesmer sweeps if we do manage to take something. KN apparently doesn’t even sweep SMC for mesmers; Slashy hid in there and got us into inner literally 15 minutes after KN capped it.

Hmm, i see your point. It’s unfortunate that stuff like that is being overlooked but its really important in order to maintain key pieces of real estate.
My experience with TC in FA BL over the last couple weeks is their continuous pressure. If Kain is experiencing that level of attack on their home BL, i don’t blame them for getting pushed back.
See everybody out there! For the limited time I’ve played this weekend, the fights have been incredible

The problem isn’t so much response time as it is participation in general. I don’t think a lot of players have actually left the server, but we’re clearly not WvWing as much anymore. It used to be that you could go to other maps and ask for help, but now everything except KBL and EB are outmanned 90% of the time, and getting players to leave EB is like pulling teeth (especially since it’s about the only map where we tend to do well).

This is sad to hear. C’mon Kaineng. We <3 you. Come back and play WvW!
I want a solid Tier 2 with good fights every week, like it was a month ago. A server dropping just ‘cause they had a single bad week and the fairweathers decide that it’s not worth playing any more is not cool. Fight back! Show us your server pride.

Anyway, I am sure Maguuma will be overjoyed at the thought of a Kaineng visit soon. LOL…can you hear it now?

To be fair, we’ve been sucking a lot longer than a week. NA has been anemic for closer to a month now, and even at our height we relied heavily on Oceanic coverage. We’ve never had any EU to speak of, as near as I can tell.
Whatever the reason is (burnout, frustration, stiffer competition), Kaineng is now put in a position where her NA crew HAS to stay close throughout the day and evening in order for the score to be competitive. We’re not. 150+ PPT deficits are hilariously common during NA hours.
Even so, I still think our NA is excellent pound for pound, but we just don’t have enough people to populate the maps anymore. By my estimation, we’d need to about double our NA WvW population in order to be competitive again. Back when I had good numbers, I could have enemy zergs running from us on sight after 2-3 hours. Now the cat barks at the dog, and I’m the one running about 75% of the time.

It’s really not that sad. Look at it another way. I think a lot of us just aren’t that motivated to continually win anymore. I think a lot have realized it’s more fun to play WvW casually, without really caring about score too much, than to play it intensely just so we can be number one in T2.
I have to say, there was much more fun and challenge when BG was here and we were number 2 for 3 weeks. At least there was a point then, and it was more fun that way. Not much point in playing for first in T2 all the time.
Honestly I am amazed JQ keeps it going as number 1 in T1 for all this time.
We have a lot of hardcore wvw guilds and players. We play hard, putting more time to wvw the past 2 weeks. Sometimes we are running with a good sized zerg yet we still have the outmanned buff (pretty crazy lol).
T2 already proved that all 3 servers provides skills with all servers have multiple elite guilds. But as we all know, WvW is about numbers and coverage. Kaineng is the weakest in coverage now. We used to be #1 in SEA time and dominate there (I remember having 500ppt against Blackgate during SEA primetime)
I am still happy about how things are. Enjoying the great battles against 2 awesome servers.
I am actually surprised that with our weak NA population, zero Euro and WM taking a break on SEA time, we are not getting wtfpwnedbbqsauce so bad lol.
Keep your heads up Kaineng, we have an awesome community to fall back into. Negativity will suck your energy and will just take away the fun.

Is it more fun and a challenge now that you’re 2nd for a week and 3rd for 2 weeks? Or are you looking to drop into T3, win every week, get bored, and then stop playing entirely?

I don’t think we’re going to be 3rd for two weeks. We’ll probably be T3 after this week, if things keep going the way they are. Unless DB chokes hard and we rally (HA!), this might be the last match you play against us. According to millenium, the potential rating difference between DB and Kaineng is all of 13 points. I know that might change by Friday, but a Kaineng rally at this point seems about as likely as an honest politician.
I know it’s tempting to look at the spread and say “well this tier is still really competitive!” but the thing you have to remember is that Kaineng is not used to struggling like this, and the score is a little deceiving right now because it won’t be anywhere near this close in 12 hours, much less 6 days. When we were losing to BG, at least we were still improving our game and had good participation, but neither of those things are true anymore.
FA and TC are used to duking it out in this ranking slot, whereas KN is used to consistently improving. So once that stopped happening, I think players lost interest while TC and FA both maintained a more consistent participation rate.

These things come in waves. You remember TC dropped down to Tier 3 for a while, and I honestly think that was a good thing for us.
Weather the storm, and if you do go to Tier 3, take advantage of all your fairweathers that come out. Train them, educate them, then when you come up to Tier 2 again, you’ll have a fresh cadre of players to fight.
Most of all, stay positive. I know it seems hard right now, but you can do it. Half the battle is keeping a positive frame of mind to inspire others. It’s infectious. We on TC love you Kain.

Exactly what I was trying to say, thanks for articulating the point better than I did. We realized after we were in T2 for a while that we didn’t have the horsepower to make T1, and not enough of our players wanted to try for T1 anyway. So the feeling of challenge eventually faded. Our core players have been the same since we blew through the other tiers and came to T2. I think MEOW were the last sizable guild we had come over, and that was how many months ago?
But we all know if DB continue to roll T3 this week, we’ll just drop and probably roll T3 in their place, then DB will drop down again…and so on. I feel the Tier 2 dynamic has changed. I see weeks of KN, and possibly FA at times, trading places with DB, unless the other T3 servers can step it up…or DB come to T2 and stick.
Maybe I have it all wrong, but why not just enjoy the good fights when we can and see how it all plays out eventually.
Ahh, I get it now. Thanks for the explanation of your server’s current mentality. I really do hope it picks up again for you guys. The fights over the past month or so have been hard fought, but amazing fun.
We might not always express it properly, but TC really does like fighting vs FA and KN, despite the antagonism – from all sides, including us; no fingers pointed, no blame given.

I still think that we would be able to compete if we had the same turnout we had, say, 3-4 weeks ago. Yeah TC and FA have improved their population/turnout but I really feel like we’re still as good as them pound for pound. It’s just hard to stay afloat when you only have like a hundred people spread over 4 maps (with over half of them in EB) and can’t hold your own garrison for more than 30 minutes at a time.
And here’s another problem: TC can hold Hills on KBL while outmanned. FA can hold their keep in EB while outmanned. As long as either of you guys have ~20 people on the map, you generally won’t lose everything you have. Us? Not so much. If we’re outmanned, we’re usually pushed completely off the map within 30 or so minutes. I managed to hold our corner for a couple hours on TC BL while outmanned last week, but it was only because TC was so busy with FA. Once that was over, we lost everything in short order. FA left the map, then TC wiped us and flipped the rest of the map within the hour.
I have never seen us do this.

I dunno how it is with FA and TC websites/forums, but I just today found out that Kaineng even has one, and I’ve been doing WvW for about a month now. The teamspeak info gets regularly advertised, which is great, but absolutely nothing about any other form of communication.
So from my perspective over the last month or so, if you’re not in a big guild, or at least not in a WvW-heavy guild, you have basically no support, no communication, no engagement whatsoever. If you don’t happen to trip and fall into a WvW portal, there’s no way to even know what the point is, or why you might be needed as a new WvWer. And if you ARE in WvW but not wanting to follow the zerg (for whatever reason), there’s absolutely no attempt to, say, explain the mechanics of scouting. Or sitting on siege equipment in a tower. Or heck, doing anything at all other than sitting around in the citadel wondering what to do next.
I’m fortunate enough to be in a decent-sized guild, and listen on teamspeak, and split my time between following a commander I think actually has a clue and sitting in a tower attempting to defend, or running yaks or suchlike. But I had to figure the value of those things out entirely by myself, because no one said anything about it at all. I have several friends in another guild that have asked me “so…what do you DO in WvW?” and I’d dearly love to point them at a website where we’re all discussing plans and tactics and schemes and so on, but frankly there’s nothing.
It’s a testament to Kaineng’s great WvW-heavy guilds that we’ve done as well as we have, I think. And I can only imagine that TC and FA are doing a much much better job at reaching out to and educating the militia. Kaineng is pants at it.
Here’s a little bit of last night. [PiNK] was mostly playing minecraft I think lol, but the rest of us tried to just have some fun and not worry too much about taking anything.

Well, at TC we have several people (like Jadon with his weekly lessons on Thursdays helped by Theon & Coral with her TC University) that explain WvW to new players, with a patience that everyone admires.
And every day, people explain in TC map chat basic WvW concepts as ‘what are the blue icons’, ‘what is supply’, ‘why kill Yaks’ and give the mumble coordinates.
That’s the advantage of a RP server, I think. The communities on RP servers tend to be nicer than on other servers. At least that’s what it feels like, in every MMO I ever played.
Anyways, score update…

@Rosy;
LOL…“pants”?
Our Guild is certainly not a big heavy WvW Guild. We have some players who prefer WvW over PVE, but not many, and we are a small Guild. When we show up in WvW as a Guild team, usually on Saturday nights (PST), we do well as a small team. We do great actually. Other than that it’s just us few who prefer WvW playing consistently and doing whatever we can, and we have fun. I mostly levelled my Ranger in WvW. I’ve followed Jarvan in RISE many a time, it’s very fast moving and a blast. Unfortunately we don’t spend a lot of time keeping what we take. It seems to be a Kaineng thing…
Point is, you don’t need to be in a big Guild or have a specific community forum to go to, yes it can help – especially to discuss topics such as this – but really you just need to play. Figuring out WvW isn’t rocket science. You play for a while, and if you have fun, you learn fast.
It’s a testament to Kaineng’s great WvW-heavy guilds that we’ve done as well as we have, I think. And I can only imagine that TC and FA are doing a much much better job at reaching out to and educating the militia. Kaineng is pants at it.
I think the reason I have fallen in love with the TC community is the fact that the Millita / pugs are treated so well and made aware of what is going on / needs to be done. We have some very classy people on our server who take the time to say great job and thank you for people doing the jobs like yak walking or sentry duty it trully makes a difference and makes you want to do those things.
Also a big thank you to FA and KN for another fun weekend of fighting I enjoyed almost all of my deaths at your hands and look forward to more of them with the ocasional loot bag dropping at my feet to help cover repair bills.
I do not speak for my server but I do not want to come to T2. We are not ready, when DB comes to T2 we need to be ready and we are not yet. When we do come into T2, I want us to stick there not in and out.

if you’re not in a big guild, or at least not in a WvW-heavy guild, you have basically no support, no communication, no engagement whatsoever.
Well, at TC we have several people (like Jadon with his weekly lessons on Thursdays helped by Theon & Coral with his TC University) that explain WvW to new players, with a patience that everyone admires.
Hmmm…well, right there I think you’ve highlighted the difference between TC and KN. I have only seen someone ask what to do with supply in map chat once, and that was the week before we left T8. Maybe it happens more, but I doubt it. The point being; Kaineng’s WvW core have always been predominantly WvW oriented…although I may not be articulating it properly. But, we seriously do not have a lot of PVE people joining us. I’m not sure why, maybe they have the impression we’re all “hard core” and wouldn’t welcome them, who knows. Or maybe they just really aren’t interested. WvW doesn’t have enough incentive for them perhaps.
By the way, I have to say this is the most interesting conversation I have seen in this thread in weeks. No offense intended to anyone, but usually it’s the TC/FA fight club…lol.
The lame thing about alaric being in another guild is that I have to do double duty on video production.

I tend to agree with you. You’ll likely be here a week, if you come next week especially if you have even less NA than we do, as some suggest. Then again, you may surprise yourself. You’re either becoming too strong for T2, or Mags and Yaks just aren’t playing.
We only played you for a week, so I can’t really comment on DB’s consistent abilities. We really don’t know you guys well at all. DB seemed like nice people though. Good luck!
Unfortunately we don’t spend a lot of time keeping what we take. It seems to be a Kaineng thing…
In lower tiers and in matches where coverage superiority is the defining factor, it’s ok not to work too hard on defense. Dominating through coverage doesn’t require learning strong defensive tactics, losing does.
Kaineng came up really fast through the ranks without any periods of loss/recovery like both TC and FA have weathered. The players from old t8 pre-transfer Kaineng may be an exception, but I’m not sure how many of them are still around.
Don’t get discouraged by losing, someone has to lose in any competition. Do your best to win, learn from your losses, get better where you can, but most importantly just have fun and the rest will follow.
As an old Kaineng hand (t8 days), I recall how we tended to focus on defending what we had (due to Devona). Either we have come to rely on numbers too much and have forgotten how to defend, or we have quite a bit of “untrained militia”. In either case, I wonder if we need to pull back and regroup as it were. Granted I’m not in WvW all the time like some, but I see signs of disorganization. Going up against two organized servers with numbers worked for awhile but it seems that strategy has passed.
Having said all that, I know our TS server is mentioned often in mapchat and that there are efforts to train new ppl. I commend those cmmdrs who are. But I fear we have become the Polish facing down the German blitzkreig (for those who know their history). Maybe a stay in t3 is what we need.
I may be out of line here and not have all the info, and if so, I apologize, but this is what the situation appears like from my viewpoint.

It’s a shame you guys have to zerg in order to get anything accomplished at all. I have yet to encounter a TC with his/her salt in a 1v1 or even small ops scenarios. Just doesn’t happen.
Oh and RP-ers teaching RP-ers WvW. That’s rich. Thanks for the laugh.

Keeping it classy. Glad you guys went to FA instead of TC.

A server like Kaineng that rapidly rode the momentum of multiple WvW-focused elite guilds will eventually suffer burnout – only the most ridiculously stacked server can completely rely on dedicated WvW players to fill all the maps. Otherwise you need to draw from the PvE/casual/militia/fairweather/pug (however you want to call it) population – and as mentioned it’s probably in that department that KN is being outperformed right now.
The good thing is that you guys still have a powerful core of great WvW guilds. Easily enough to comfortably win tier 3, and that’s with WM being MIA. Keep in mind that you guys are facing two very consistent servers that have weathered long, long stretches of being at the bottom of their tiers and came out stronger – you guys have what it takes too.
Oh and massive props to FA for excellent play on their home borderlands for the second week running.
fa would have a lot more people if we didn’t drive off people with bad attitudes
I’m sure TC will learn how as a matter of self-preservation of sanity.
btw what happened to the GREATEST PLAYER IN THE GAME?
I guess he couldn’t hang with mez

Point is, you don’t need to be in a big Guild or have a specific community forum to go to, yes it can help – especially to discuss topics such as this – but really you just need to play. Figuring out WvW isn’t rocket science. You play for a while, and if you have fun, you learn fast.
Oh sure, and that’s mostly how I learned the basics — by just sticking it out and following clueful-seeming people around. But it irritates me to no end to see some commander typing on map chat or saying in TS “hey, do we have someone at X, what’s going on there?” and seeing/hearing no reply, so I’ll go run over there only to see there’s 5 or 6 people standing around talking to each other. It’s not like Only The Big Guilds are responsible for scouting, but I honestly think there isn’t enough time taken to do any non-zerg educating. (The zerg training has picked up recently, which is fantastic!)
