I have Kindda given up on waiting for any ascended stat items bought with badges. So now i have to waste 20% of my short precious WvW time on just doing dailies.

IMO, i highly doubt they will ever do so because Fractals are really popular and they do not want to shoot themselves in the foot.

I have kinda given up doing anything but the daily and a couple of world bosses. I show up for the guild events during the week, but that’s really just about it. Ok, the molten dungeon was fun as a daily guild event, but that’s gone now.

It’s hard to believe that a game with so much promise has come to this. There is ZERO reason play this game for much longer than it takes to do the daily. The reward system is completely boinked.

The patch today will probably allow us to buy ascended gear for 50 gold a piece with 50 badges.

And arrow carts are going to receive a 50% range increase, 100% dmg buff. They will also receive the ability to shoot through doors and have wings to fly.

A further bigger cool skill on arrow carts will enable, when points are spent into the AC tree, the arrow cart to spawn 4 completely new flying AC upon the first AC destruction.

Patch out… Still no ascended times that can be purchased with badges. Six patches Anet…six. You promised us this back in November and its coming out ASAP? How long does it actually take to code a vendor with ascended gear? And why are you giving us enhancements that no one has asked for yet ignore what the community has been pleading for? Why does PvE get a truck load of content yet we get poorly executed enhancements that are minuscule. You got on A on culling… You are failing everything else with WvW.

Sure, to you it might seem simple to just toss a bunch of ascended gear onto a merchant with a badge price and call it a day, but it’s complicated! Very complicated. Just like how it took over two weeks for the developers to realize that buffing arrowcarts by 80% might therefore kill other siege 80% faster, and that they could probably use a nerf.

In other news, a WvW developer was spotted crossing the road the other day.

Watch the small squad stream on the GW2 twitch channel. Now you have to assume that when ANET decided to do a small squad stream they picked someone they thought was good at it… so lets say he is one of the better PvPers in their office… now consider the state of WvW and it all becomes clear.

I mean, I appreciate Devon and the attention he gives us on the forums, but understand after the last few patches with arrow carts and the implementation of these traps, that at least on my server, far fewer people have interest in this route you are going with wvw. It almost feels like we are the beta testers with these WvW patches. The Dev’s don’t really seem to understand the overall effects that these changes have to the WvW/PvE environment, before implementation. It REALLY effects how players view you all and thus slowly crumbles any sort of trust amongst the player base and ANET.

Its cute that you said “Will do!” I chuckled for a few seconds but then I realized how long its has taken Anet to take action in WvW compared to PVE and the kittening patches that have taken place in Siege Wars 2 and that the community has plenty of reasons to not take you’re words seriously.

Godot didn’t come this patch but he will surely come the morrow.

And then of course we’re going to be able to craft ascended items since we’ll be able to craft the highest power tier of items in the game. (And no, the Mystic Forge recipes are clearly not the same as crafting, by virtue of the types of items needed for the mystic forge versus crafting.)

Godot didn’t come this patch but he will surely come the morrow.

Even if it did come out tomorrow its still an incredibly poor turnover time, 6 months for us to get one new set of armor in wvw…

Meanwhile they have plied us with gimmicks in an attempt to keep people playing.

A few of the above posters have already nailed it, but I think it’s a point that is worth repeating: there really is no way A.Net can win here. While it’s nice to finally see some dev posts on this issue, the fact remains that a fix for this problem is so long overdue that Devon’s disastrous timing is only matched by his equally poor taste in music. Which is a terrible thing to say, given that I’m sure he’s only trying to help – but nonetheless, even after this whole debacle is over and done with, that’s the impression we’re left with.

The only thing one can hope for is that A.Net actually takes some of the criticism to heart and genuinely makes a real effort to prevent this sort of thing from happening again. There is more ascended gear yet to come (weapons, armor), and when it does WvW players had better not be left behind again for months on end. In fact, I think I can say with some certainty that a lot of players feel the WvW format in general deserves a lot more attention than it is currently given.

My server doesnt let siege despawn or doesnt own anything. So I have no need to buy siege with badges, plus we generally own the EB puzzle and run everyone through and they donate their siege to commanders. If you’re wasting badges on siege youre doing it very wrong.

My suggestion to you is to lvl mesmer to 15 or something and get portal, and go stand in EB and have a friend shout in Lions Arch that youre doing the puzzle and for everyone to go get their daily chest and donate the siege to your war effort. Doing that for even an hour a day would get you an unGodly amount of siege if its not occurring at all on your server.

I have owned this game since it first came out but recently been actively playing it. 80 now, wvw with all my time besides the daily.

I can see where people are frustrated with the lack of attention to WvW, AC’s are pretty out of wack and having to farm PVE dailys etc to get the best gear for WvW makes no sense.

I like that it seems Anet sees this and plans on fixing it but to newer players it is concerning that it takes so long to make these changes. Do you really want to invest in a game where the thing you enjoy is handled poorly? I will probably give this more time but I may find something else for game time where what I enjoy is focused on by the game developers.

I’m with you OP.. I’m not a fan of fractals, or dungeons for that matter. Even that temporary molten alliance dungeon that popped up that many people seemed to love.. wasn’t my cup of tea either.

I started off as a PvE player and migrated over to primarily WvW so I now have quite the stack of badges built up. Granted I havn’t bought any gear off it yet (though I intend to), but I do like the idea of using badges to grab ascended gear.

I can maybe see Anet’s argument against this.. as it doesn’t take a lot of time to build up badges or gold in WvW so people may be able to grab all their gear rather quickly..

The best WvW has got is armor of ever type of build, but trinkets are missing for all except soldier. Skins of fine and masterpiece rarity were added. Just one exclusive WvW skin while each dungeon has a skin of it’s own.

Interesting, so you re-use your rams? Offensive trebs? Temporary siege placed inside single-tick caps? That’s fascinating. Please tell us how you manage this.

The problem they are having is deciding on a reasonable price so that it is fair to all players- of course if they hadn’t made so many items untradeable in the first place this wouldn’t have been much of a problem as people would have been able to equip their toons with items bought in the AH.

Badges should be tradeable, along with a lot of other items needed to make armor, etc. Bind on use is fine- account bound would have been better.

Maybe they will bring out different rates for different tiers to reflect the numbers of badges players in different tiers get- it’s a lot harder to get badges when there might only be 10-15 people on an entire map then when two 80 man zergs clash every 5-10 minutes and badges are littered on the ground like confetti.

This. It’s really exciting to get even the smallest bits of news or actual confirmations. Something a little more concrete so at least we know we can expect something in the next patch or patch after.

Actually I don’t think PVE has had any new sets of armour since launch.

Most of the PVE weapons and armour sets are dungeon token only too which is a shame, IMO. It’s as surprising to me to see that there’s only one non-dungeon exotic armor skin and no exotic weapons. They should introduce non-dungeon token PVE armor sets too (or just allow us to trade in our badges for karma and then switch to karma for everything in the future).

The neglect of WvW and open-world PVE players is ridiculous though. It seems that dungeons were the only thing that launched in complete and a fairly polished state. sPVP, WvW and open-world PVE are all sorely lacking in meaningful rewards for playing (IMO).
