The part I was quoting was you are one of the few with the idea of all or nothing. A lot of people in this thread alone are ok with mixed maps that way if a map they do not like is up they have other options open to them versus out for a quarter of a year at a time.
That be it for ABL/DBL or any other new map we may or may not get. You yourself said thousands will leave game if DBL comes back in, so why not cycle maps in a controlled pattern versus all or nothing. Let’s say they give us a swamp for some reason, would you want three swamp maps up versus one for a test. And leave EoTM out of this, to get a good test you need to have it in standard WvW to get a good test. So why not have it out there with other maps that are also up. Then people can provide feedback and if they really dislike they can still have other options.
If its polled may find out that is a wrong assumption about all or nothing, but working off of postings currently I would say having multiple maps up is a better option.
I am saying they cannot half do this.. It needs to be done right. " half doing this" would also mean having a map in play that people still hate at all. So if you are supposed to go to the dbl to save a keep and no one will go with you because they hate the map, don’t you think that is unplayable for those trying to accomplish these things? Of course not all players care about saving their keeps, but for those that do ( what the game was actually designed to do) It makes it unplayable. Multiple maps only works if everyone in WvW that is willing to save the keeps is willing to go there to do it, if they will not go there due to the map itself, that isn’t going to work for the function of the game mode. Players need to be able to hop to all the maps to save all the objectives at different times, they should not be losing keeps simply because the majority of the players refuse to go to the map that keep is on.
When you look at what actually happened during beta. They should have never released DBL since it was actually abandoned DURING BETA. It failed beta testing. That should be a lesson learned on their part. Any map they release needs to pass rigorous testing and have the support of the community before they attempt to implement it in the live game.
They need to focus from the beginning on playability and keeping players engaged in PvP action the entire time they are on the map no matter what that environment is, and the environment should encourage MORE PvP game play not reduce it,prevent it or slow it down.
Now that I think of it… This game plays like you are in slow motion to begin with, what would be fun is a " hyper combat" area where everything moves FASTER in combat rather than slower XD.

Ah well in the end all will be alright, no need to argue DBL will be back and Alpine will remain. So all of us can play as we want isn’t that what we wanted in the first place?
Btw Alpine needs a serious revamp waking up to the same map each day for like 4 years is what chased ppl away in the first place guess you all forgot that and now ppl are whining again about that one :-)

Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. They stated they will be holding another poll asking whether they should keep the deserted bl or not.
Appease both parties by providing choice… this was the answer. You could participate in your map of choice any day of the week….
Oh wait a minute… now you may play your map for a quarter, or effectively half of the year. The other half… too bad.

No, those ‘kittens’ are waiting on the poll where they think they can hit 75% to remove it. If they could not get a clear majority on this one, I don’t think they will on that one either.

69.7% of those who voted wanted a combination of ABL and DBL and that was in a poorly constructed poll that worked against that result. A clear majority.

They won’t hit 75% on removing it. They just don’t want Alpine to go either. So long as Alpine is always an option most people would be happy. For the remaining people who enjoy DBL, they have a place to roam free. I can’t see why building up WvW interest in populations is a bad thing, it will only benefit both parties.

By now, everyone has at some point seen a decline in WvW population activity outside of reset night. We need to do more things to spark interest in many people, not just one group or the other, or this game mode is done. WvW has been heading in the right direction mostly, but active populations are not increasing. Says something about the game. I’ll be happy to screen cap map Queues from T1 NA throughout the week at primetime.
My estimate would look like this:
Friday – queued
Saturday EBG + 1 BL queued
Sunday – Thursday – no queues
