There are so kitten many TC players, it is ridiculous! I’ve seen us do some great things during this match, but TC always brings it fast to retaliate. It has been a blast so far.

Oh man, where was all this red last night when I wanted some WvWvW action?!

It’s extremely encouraging to see a server not give up 12 hours into the game. Looking forward to the rest of this matchup.

Very interesting day on the CD borderlands. I saw a ranger and a warrior fly down the cliff from their spawn point to halfway beside Longview, both from the same guild. If a CD commander wants the guild tag of the hackers, feel free to whisper me in game.

CD’s prime time seems to overlap with TC’s dead zone in coverage, which happens to be when I usually play. Always a blast to try to hold off what seems to be 4x our numbers every night!

Then when I logon in the morning the map is clean and green again

After having bravely gone down with the Trebs in borderlands garrison last night after having flung several thousand dead cows at the TC crew knocking on our gates it was with great satisfaction that I was with the group that recaptured it tonight.

Too bad that multi golem attack on SMC failed on EB later on.

It’s been a pretty chaotic night in EB. TC had no commanders online – which isn’t all that rare – so we did the usual militia thing with 3-4 groups each operating independently, and may or may not get together for defense when called.

As a result, while we were busy flipping towers and camps in CD territory, they hit our home territory. Since independent groups tend to respond slowly to calls for defense, CD was able to capture Klovan without much of a fight…but not so at Aldon and WC.

The rather unique design of WC offered defenders a very nice killbox – the 3-4 defenders in the tower must have outright killed 10+ CD before they knew where they were being hit. They never even had a chance to drop rams…because anyone who approached the gate died. TC reinforcements swung by after 5ish minutes and dislodged the CD zerg from WC….but CD was able to come back and take WC with a sneak attack later in the night.

Twice tonight 3-4 people held Aldon against a 25+ CD zerg for 10+ minutes until TC reinforcements streamed in. CD wasn’t shy with siege either, often dropping 3-4 rams, and when those are destroyed, go for cats.

The first siege began as I scrambled to port back to Lowland to defend. I circled around the CD zerg and queued grenades as I ran for Aldon. Since I came from behind, I was able to down a couple of CD before they knew I was there. After getting inside, I found there were 2-3 of us – not even enough to man all the siege equipment. We scrambled among siege weapons to try and hold off CD as a few more people got into Aldon and was able to mount a credible defense.

At this point more people ported to Lowland Keep and manned the siege equipment on the western wall. Between mortars, cannons, cats, balistas, and arrow carts we were able to destroy the first wave of CD rams. Instead of retreating, CD zerg went a bit north and started dropping catapults. Unfortunately for them, we were able to adjust our siege before they could get them up.

As the cats went down more TC reinforcements streamed in and dislodged CD from Aldon, Rogue, and pushed them back to WC which they held. Most of the TC groups went north at this point, 4-5 us tried to take WC vs twice as many defenders with a single cat. I wasn’t sure if we were sieging them, or just preventing them from coming out and murdering us – perhaps the CD defenders thought they were hit by the rendering problem and couldn’t believe 5 people would dare to siege a tower with 10+ people inside. They did a few timid pushes which were checked by our cat (I spent more time hitting players than the gate). Unfortunately a larger CD zerg came around Gol and was finally able to push us away from WC.

The second siege of Aldon did not come as a surprise. While TC’s forces were up north, CD once again swung around from the east with a zerg of 25+. They easily took Gol and Klovan, then swung through Rogue for Aldon. I had seen them take Klovan (was not in time to save it), so I pre-positioned all of our siege equipment on Lowland Keep’s west wall to aim at the same spot.

As the CD zerg rolled in, I ran into Aldon and once again found only a few defenders inside. This time CD dropped 4 rams immediately, and it took all we had to split our efforts between siege and repair. At one point all 4 of us got off siege and concentrated on repair, as the gate was getting dangerously low. This kept up for 10+ minutes when help finally arrived. In the spam of 30 seconds I saw 10+ downed markers outside Aldon on the map. Between the 10ish pieces of siege equipment and 40+ TC (must have been every raiding group on the map), CD was wiped out almost to a man – maybe two people made it back to WC. With that force TC quickly retook all of our territory before moving north to deal with CD trebs threatening SM.

The rest of the night saw CD setting up trebs all over the place, and TC taking them down. Before the WvWvW reset, CD mounted a 5-6 golem attack against SM which broke the outer gates, but didn’t make it much further into SM before being destroyed by TC defenders. Right as TC pushed CD back onto the steps of Overlook the server reset, calling an end to an eventful evening.

Thank you for the detailed write-up of the evening events in Eternal. Sort of makes it all more legit when someone takes the time to review and report.

A couple of amusing screenshots from about 15-18 hours ago in EB, from the perspective of TC defending against the CD zergs.

gw040 – CD attacking Klovan’s wall with a ram and a golem. They then set up about 5 catas in front of the mortar 5 minutes later.

gw041 – CD zerg player v dooring Aldons for a while after we took out all their siege equipment.

gw042 – a CD player trying to exploit his way into the Lowlands keep. Amazed this hasn’t been fixed yet tbh.

gw043 – 4 Tarnished players holding off 15 CD players, their ballista and an arrow cart. Funnily enough, this lasted for a good 10 – 15 minutes, and TC scored more kills (~5) then CD did (only 1). Went on until I had to bail to take out a catapult.

Best fail of the night though goes to Tarnished Coast however. Just as CD started attacking the inner gate of SM, someone bought the patrols upgrade, using up 2000 supply leaving us with only 400. SM fell shortly after, which was a pity, because the fight for SM the night before was a multiple hour epic clash.

That would be your usual spy/infiltrator activity. SoR did the same thing last week to our keep, and I have no doubt there are individuals on TC who will transfer an alt to an opposing server and do the same thing. You can generally tell by the timing of the (relatively valueless) upgrade.

However, it’s one of the reasons you purchase ‘all’ upgrades at your keep, and at SM if and when you’re in a position to hold it. SM had been sitting 2 upgrades short of the cap for a long time.

TC played poorly in EB tonight (4pm-9pm PST). Too often these match threads offer only praise for the server one belongs to, instead of well deserved criticism. I was in EB, watching silently the goings on. Too many people place too much importance on Stonemist Castle. Far too much is called out about SM which doesn’t need to be. I’ll keep saying it every night until it sinks in ^^, but SM doesn’t need any call-outs in chat unless people rock up with siege in hand, or it’s being trebbed.

Nor do we need to call out every single non-TC sentry on the map. Sentries don’t stop yaks. Players do.

We spent too much time over in HoD’s territory trying to cap useless towers when we should have been pressing CD up north.

We lost WC (twice) and a fully upgraded Klovan because there were ‘far’ too many people talking in chat and ‘few’ too many paying attention to the information that mattered. It’s a long standing problem in EB.

Whenever we own Stonemist, the majority of players forget about our 4 towers and keep and live at the big castle in the centre of the map, which is entirely unnecessary. We don’t have enough people paying attention to the map, or staying back on defense.

The exception this week was Friday night-Sat morning where I was in EB and actively making sure these things were attended to, via a multitude of whispers, map prediction and people I can rely on to attend to what actually matters

This week, 1v1 vs CD, we can mess about at SM and still, for the most part, retain our holdings, but next week, assuming we don’t jump up into tier 2 and get slaughtered, having everyone mess about at SM when we have it will result in the swift loss of ‘far’ more important towers in our territory. EB is about ‘defense’, protecting your upgraded towers and hurting your enemy by taking and downgrading theirs. Stonemist Castle is both an asset and a liability, and too often folks in EB treat it like the be all and end all of the map, which it is not

CD, you played better than TC for the period of time I was on and watching tonight, well done. I’m hoping we’ll be able to face you and Yaks’ next week on more even footing.

The assault on CD Keep in EB was pretty fun, TC kept our outer wall down and laid attack after attak at our inner gate. Unimpressed we let that treb alone but was impressed with the few we had left on the map to defend the keep. At one point TC was pretty close, they snuck 3 golems to the inner gate, busted it open and we had the lord room filled with seige. We locked half TC in the inner keep and disposed of them quickly before rushing out to deal with those outside.

I was impressed with the crew we had left, it was few but we packed a nice defence. I was suprised TC didn’t lay another attack right after or the keep would have been theirs. Guess we got lucky on that, but it was major fun.

I really hope HoD gets some WvW bodies, no server deserves to be left out dry like this. I prefer getting pushed from both sides then just trying to focus on one server. Anyways it’s been some good fighting.

Yep, Yak’s Bend is getting scarier the more I look into their match with Fort Aspenwood…

I am really looking forward to next week’s match with Tarnished Coast / Yak’s Bend / Crystal Desert.

It has all the indicators of being a really fun and relatively even 1v1v1 WvW match!

The SM upgrade was painful but I think we were going to lose it regardless of how much supply we had. CD was pushing their advantage at that time of day and had most of the map anyway. People were split between defending Aldon’s and defending SM. CD had enough people leaning on both targets to make defense necessary at both targets.

Tonight, after the patch, CD took and held Greenlake in TC BL like it was their grandmother’s house. Wouldn’t even let us put lawn furniture out or nothing. So mean. We couldn’t seem to get our numbers back up after the reset, possibly from issues people had logging back in.

Well I did feel for CD for being dominated this week but that feeling is now changed to I’m glad were whipping their kitten Because camping EB puzzle is really kittenin annoying. It was my fault for not attacking CD on sight, but I figured it was a spot that everyone agrees they want to just do it and get it over with

This week may have not started as the best 3 way matchup, but I love how it’s turning out – HoD/CD have this never die attitude, attempting objectives when odds are not in their favor and even sometimes succeeding at getting some great momentum going ..

As Coral said .. really looking forward to next weeks match too, and hopefully more 3-way action .. it truly changes the dynamics of things pretty significantly.

I admire the fight that must be happening between these servers, the RP server, up against a server that was abandoned by a mega alliance, and I actually don’t know anything about CD. But I have some friends on TC and i’m rooting for you guys!

Your Royal Highness missed out on how awesome we were after you left. =) Although I have a nagging suspicion it was due to most CDs went to their homeland and TC people left that place to come to EB…. Anyways I had a lot of fun helping to defend Anz tonight. Both times we used up all our supply and we were in the “uh-oh” stage, then our cavalry suddenly showed up and saved the day.

It kind of stinks that all TC is doing is forming a 60 man zerg and going from battleground to battleground. It forces us all to zerg up and take undefended keeps after they leave, only to wait for their mobile zerg to come back and roll over everything again. The “free karma” trains are not as fun as actually fighting it out. That kind of mindless fighting won’t fly in the higher tiers when you need to defend multiple aspects at the same time.

I can’t speak for the BL’s, but EB never has a 60 man zerg running around. 30+ is itself a rarity in EB.

I agree that certain ‘mindless’ aspects TC displays at times don’t cut it in the higher tiers, which is one of the reasons we don’t belong in them. Our focus on defense needs to ‘drastically’ improve before we stand a chance against tier 2 servers.

ArenaNet replaces any and all words that they find questionable with kitten. It’s pure win. I think it’s the best censorship ever because you are also left wondering if the person purposefully wrote kitten in.

Thanks, Nabrok! I didn’t know that, as I’ve never transferred anything. It doesn’t change the fact that people will still transfer to commit such nefarious acts, however ^^ (and indeed have alternate accounts, as another suggested).

In other news, I’ve been having some great fights with you CD guys, there seems to be some rivalries too as I seem to run into the same pair of thieves across the map! Good fighting guys, it’s been real fun so far.

HoD, nice fighting between Lang and Dan last night, sorry to your thief who kept thinking he could flank around me :p Also, come out a bit, be a bit more brave, we’re actively discouraging spawn camping and trying to give some breathing room now and then, unfortunately not everyone listens, but we’re trying.

Last night CD showed up at prime time. We almost took 3/4 of EB and had great progress elswhere. I tried to get some people to go to TC borderlands and make you all defend it. There’s no reason why you should have 100% of a map uncontested.

Had great fun last night on my Asura Ele, Liz. I do tend to overextend so I ate dirt numerous times due to CD folks catching me. It’s all fun though. A good way to let off frustration of work. Yeah, that doesn’t work for everyone but it does for me somehow.

I’m hoping HoD makes another appearance on Eternal like they did a couple night ago.

And that CD Golem attack on SM last night was a blast. You guys really worked hard to break in. I think every TC person was called back to the castle to help repel you. Well fought!

Negative, I’m the one who shows up and kills everyone! I do use stealth a lot, but I’m a pretty reckless aggressor. I think I mainly caught your lot off guard because I’m not a glass cannon and instead of running, I stuck right next to one of you during stealth then panicked them by literally unloading point blank into their face, the hesitation was all the time I needed. I did come with another thief at one point and we ended up taking out about 9 of you, not at once, I’m not going to pretend it was that easy, You guys did get me down once during the Speldon Fun Run, but I’m like a bad cold, I’ll just stick around! I was patrolling Spel up to the Sentry past Meldon when it was your territory.

Please don’t take any of this as a boast, it’s more a case of this is how things happened, these are my tactics, so you can come up with something to work against it.

If I can give you guys a little tip, when it’s 2 or 3 of you, and one of you goes down and the thief stealths, don’t presume it’s all safe and raise your buddy, I’m currently right next to you finishing him. Your best bet instead is to stick by your buddy and swing with a melee or just AoE right on your friend so that I have to risk getting to him, if I have low health, I’m probably not going to chance it if I see you pulling that, otherwise it’s a free kill on a downed person rather than throwing a spanner in the works and making the thief work harder. Prepare some defence skills, because if I can’t get to him, I’m about to unload on one of you. If there’s 3 of you, start raising immediately, I probably won’t have time to finish the kill animation.

We sure can. So can mesmers, elementalists in mist form, warriors while invul, engi’s while mini/invul, etc.

there is nothing better than a good thief v. thief scuffle.

So far it’s been a phenomenal match up with a constant grapple for holding points. It has indeed made for a lot of laughs (including the /sleep pile, which was hysterical).

We just graduated in a way from an absolute steamroll last week to facing off with CD and HoD and it’s been a lot more fun. Thanks for all of you who have come out to meet us and who have kept us on our toes!

I rather enjoy this frequent flipping of points. XD Keeps us from getting bored and always learning.

Yes again TC brings a 50 man zerg to roll a near empty borderlands in a 3 hour cycle. They abandon their other BG’s and zerg ours because there is no 3rd attack, and because they will never try and fight a fair fight. This is becoming pathetic really.

Ah, that is unfortunate and I do not have any answer for you. Generally when this out-manned thing happens to TC (and it surely did when we got slaughtered, like vs. BG and SoR), we tend to just stick to one BL and fight it ‘til the bitter end and let our opponent PvDoor all the other maps. I know this isn’t the answer you’re looking for, so I apologize here.
