That’s a really good point. Maybe sometime in the future Anet will put in some sort of structured PVP system, other than WVW, where people can “prove” their skills without having to worry about elements like server population, zerg size or capturing and holding structures they’re not interested in!

One can only hope I guess.

But that sort of system just wouldn’t offer the excitement and originality of dueling behind a supply camp.

On Millenium we’re only currently projected to be 1 pt above YB, so it’s possible we move down this week, if not then definitely next. Frankly I’m kinda looking forward to it, but only for purely selfish reasons, I need to finish mapping WvW to get my gift of exploration

It is true regarding match ups getting somewhat stale… especially since transfers are going to be fewer now. We’ll all lock into our positions, Mag will spend the rest of time bouncing between T3 and T4, FA will do the same T2 and T3, poor DB will forever be ranked in 8th place until the end of time… our servers might as well get used to each other…

You must not have been on our borderlands during NA prime time last night…had enough people to attack two garrison gates at once and we had a lot less people defending at each gate, and you still couldn’t take it? Ouch! Then you guys spammed laughs at us when trying to camp our spawn exit…portal bombed the entrance and got pooped on again! Then you proceeded to lost the rest of what you had because I guess your “raid time” ended. You had plenty of chances to farm us during that, but I guess you felt like being nice…so thanks, GODS! You are truly worthy of the name.

You can’t imagine how bored we were when you guys decided to run back into spawn.

I mean really what the hell? All this crap talking about our open field battle skills and you guys all ran back into spawn. Like 20 of you…

So yah we knew you’d jump back down after the portal.

You knew, but still got wrecked I don’t think there were 20 of us at that spawn, but you may be right. All I know is half of you died and the other half (if even) ran away. Oh yeah, and half of the time you guys were on (when I also was) our commander was dutifully in the south capping supply camps, so we weren’t super organized, either.

Trash talk aside, that really was legitimately the most fun I’ve had in WvW recently, so thanks for that…RET on DB borderlands on Friday was pretty fun too

Edit: Though I agree with mister xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx avulaxxxxxxxxx that a lot of you really could use improvement in open field combat….consider the fact that your organized guild groups are almost constantly going up against a huge hodgepodge of small guilds on Maguuma, among other things.

Yah no biggie. I mean we had the whole lower half of the BL.

No offense once you guys started defending garrison…we really didn’t have too many choices.

Look at it this way: A siege of a well defended garrison can take quite awhile. Like at least 20-30min…sometimes as much as an hour.

So when 10pm rolls around and people start getting bored…and logging off etc…no one wants to spend the time to do it at that time of night.

So what do we do? We start farting around, doing stupid crap…and/or practicing things….

Because there’s not much else to do…

Three nights ago we took your whole BL by 12pm EST. Trust me…not the type of matchup we are looking for.

So when we say we want to move up….we mean it. We know we’ll get face rolled. We don’t care. We get more loot that way.

Not sure I understand Mags(i know its not all of you) reasoning for wanting to move down. They like “farming”, but want to go faceroll the lower servers?

I don’t During the work week our stuff is usually down the pooper by the time I get home since I work Pacific hours shifted later some. I wish I had recorded some of the things I saw last night, but I’ve never tried recording because I already play on high graphics with an absurd resolution at the cost of frames in larger battles. I don’t really know anyone that records on a regular basis at all, either.

Anecdotally speaking, we had a lot less people on during the latest reset (two maps with low queues instead of four maps). It could be low morale (what I believe) or people leaving (what other people believe), but two queues is (was?) about the population size at reset in T4.

I would be happy if FA went to tier 2 but I am afraid we are stuck with them for a while. But even if they move up and TC moved down to join us it will be pretty much the same deal. Same goes for you guys, if you move down to tier 4 you will dominate and the match will get stale. Both DB and Mag are in a pretty crappy spot. Overpowered servers above us and underpowered below.

Do what we did. Join forces and create Maguumabrand.

last week we tried to coordinate a push on FA bl with the goons, you know, to add to our ppt and reduce FA, maybe make the match competitive. The goons decided to go to the forums here and say how appalled they were at the thought. It also doesn’t help when we do try pushing FA bl that the goons decide to camp the hole in the wall of FA bay preventing us from running supply, or reinforcing.

I am not saying that magoomba and FA are in cahoots, just that the goons are vultures.

You guys attack our east keep at the most opportune times, so I don’t think “goons” are the only vultures. Though I am very confused as to why you keep saying goons, because there aren’t that many in the goon guilds that still WvW. :P

I don’t During the work week our stuff is usually down the pooper by the time I get home since I work Pacific hours shifted later some. I wish I had recorded some of the things I saw last night, but I’ve never tried recording because I already play on high graphics with an absurd resolution at the cost of frames in larger battles. I don’t really know anyone that records on a regular basis at all, either.

Ok, thanks. I figured that’d be your answer. Until I see some video from you, then I find everything you say incredibly hard to believe. The one video you posted while trolling our server forums wasn’t even against FA. You guys have some great players and some great commanders, but recently I’ve been seeing more of this, which is really a shame because I miss those fun fights from the weekend and a few weeks ago.

Half of GODS has been leveling lowbies in WvW for the past two weeks. I wouldn’t be surprised if RET has also.

We’re not too concerned…I mean we have a 58k lead over DB. What else are we to do?

Not sure what guild you are in, but if you’d like to match up a defense to our offense of a tower, or perhaps an open field battle with equal numbers(ie at least 10vs10 plz, none of this 5vs5 crap, we can head to spvp/tpvp for that)…I’m sure we can make it happen.

If you want us to all get our mains to show you open field tactics we will. Take the whole Borderland earlier than before. Just trying to enjoy these weeks when we are up by 60k. It is fun rolling around on a sub level 30 Warrior pulling a whole 20 man zerg half way across the map.

I’m pretty ambivalent now, but I used to like the idea, yeah. Haven’t you been reading our threads? There’s a subset of people on Maguuma that would love to go back to T4 and never wanted to leave it in the first place. Tiers aren’t everything. The only reason I’m ambivalent right now is that we’ve become decent at countering FA zergs when we actually have good groups. The problem is that FA runs large groups far more than I see us having organized groups, be it from morale, wearebads, or whatever.

I like finding you in the field (Maguma’s OG guild) but you play dirty. We started looking for you because you made claims about how you could win in even fights. Last time we encountered you we sat two of our players down so you could have a squared-even fight. When your health started getting low, you tried to gank the players that were sitting down that were not fighting directly with you.

The fact remains that good or bad, your server’s score was wiped out.

I am not doing some “oh yeah, we pwn you all”, considering we could go to another tier and lose out, to be zapped back to the same tier as you. Guess what, it already happened and the players here agree those fights were a million times better than encounters with you.

Sure you have your good guilds and all, but the fact remains you aren’t doing your server favors in the way you play. It might be laughs when you stealth gank players across the field, but it doesn’t translate to the PP your server needs.

You do know that Thursday nights guilds across the three servers in the tier set up the vs combat between 2v2s and 5v5s in WvW. You could find some fun there on the field, rather than roaming, cause it really hurts your group when one of you die and the others still are on the field. Trust me, I know how it feels.

I am on FA itself, but we are all gamers here and some of us here like small, structured groups and I always look for good 5v5s out there on the field. Its not always a zergball.

Imo the only thing that will change the size and number of zergs is going to be the WvW progression system. If they implement it so that a kill is worth a set number of points divided by the number of people involved its death, then small groups will become more popular. If they leave it as it is now with full xp on kill for everyone, then zergs will likely become even more popular.

This was just posted recently. Doesn’t make me very hopeful for the future of competitive wvw play. If they are aiming the progression abilities towards zerg play, then they’ll probably aim the progression itself towards zerging too.

Pretty sure we don’t need to learn how to siege your Garrison when we have owned it already this week(three times? four? idk). We’ve also owned the rest of your BL. You should be ecstatic that you kept Garrison last night(although I do believe we took it eventually, idk I logged off a bit early).

Had fun just now in my (DB) BL annoying the group of 4 FA hitting our north camp. I followed them down to the tower and had fun zipping away from them. Fun until I misjudged how close I was to the cliff and burning sped right off the edge. I bet they had a chuckle at that.

What’s interesting to me though is how little difference it makes. If I was awesome and managed to kill 3 of the 4 off, and then died to the 4th, it wouldn’t matter at all. The remaining one just rezzes the other 3 and it’s like I was never there. All I’ve done is slow them down a little. Yes loot bags and repair costs, but in the grand scheme of things in WvW I’ve accomplished nothing (though I’m still having fun).

I would be happy if FA went to tier 2 but I am afraid we are stuck with them for a while. But even if they move up and TC moved down to join us it will be pretty much the same deal. Same goes for you guys, if you move down to tier 4 you will dominate and the match will get stale. Both DB and Mag are in a pretty crappy spot. Overpowered servers above us and underpowered below.

Do what we did. Join forces and create Maguumabrand.

In reality, OG has become infamous to the point where our mere presence on a battlefield contributes to our server hugely. Even a single OG tag is enough to make an entire zerg stop what it is doing and chase in the opposite direction. Just by playing the way we play, we can make ourselves cancel out 5-6x our numbers easily. Also, we always kill more than we lose, even if it’s not as many as we’d like, meaning we’re taking more people out of the fight than our own number.

So while none of us care about the score (except that we would greatly prefer to lose and drop to t4), you better believe we do more to help our server than a lot of you who actually do care.

you really AREN’T doing much. Lol. The only thing I’ve seen OG do is roam, and roaming rarely caps towers, keeps, and SMC.

You overestimate the amount of times that we see OG tags. Yes, we do run after you, and you can be certain that there’ll be a few of us that break off the zerg to chase down one of you, but you also have to realize that we have multiple times your population as well, so in the end you’re not doing much.

And to be honest. I don’t typically see this from Dragonbrand, I typically only see it from FA. Furthermore, I’d like to point out that while you may be helping (you overestimate your contribution, but yes you do contribute) in the field, you are hurting your server by forum warrior’ing and provoking the wrath of the FA zerg.

Have you noticed that you’ve been focused down much more often by us than Dragonbrand has? Even though dragonbrand was outmanned and you weren’t?

So while none of us care about the score (except that we would greatly prefer to lose and drop to t4), you better believe we do more to help our server than a lot of you who actually do care.
