These would still be phenomenally strong with a 30-second or 60-second cooldown.
On the one hand it is often more difficult not to interrupt a player since #1 weapon skills count as full casts in this game. On the other hand many playstyles bank heavily into auto damage (and on a nitpicking level, there’s no such thing as a true “auto”) where those are the key skills to anticipate. It’s complex.
Oh well that’s it, I’m buying a set.

Your logic is flawed thinking of 1v1 only. If I’m in a group of 5 putting oodles of confusion on everyone who cares if I’m not doing much other damage. It was just an example anyways to show how many interrupts you can have at one time to point out the need for an icd.
This is where you are wrong, I always think in every possible perspective I can see.
You still use a bad exemple and try to find a sorry excuse to say I’m wrong because I should not take into consideration the things you say.Speaking of your exemple, we are talking about something close to 65 dmg per confusion stacks, in Pvp without any condition gear, while with a condition gear you should be around 172 dmg a stack. That’s almost 1/3 of its base power, so your 25stacks of confusion are more like 9 stacks of confusion from a real condition build perspective and anyone playing a condition build relying on confusion is going to be mildly annoyed because anyone using that build is going to leave no room for real condition damage builds.
Also any team fight has condi removal flying around like it is Christmas, so that kind of build is going to be shutdown whenever you will have a guardian applying stability to your team or whenever you someone is going to put a field that clears condition.
Anyways, lets look at a REAL condition warrior build that I ran and was completely ridiculous.
With Mace/Sword Sword/Shield and bleeds that ticked 135 BEFORE might. I had btw 28k hp, 3000 armor and still ran with Cleansing Ire, this is with no Ascended btw only exotics. I still had 6 interrupts (including fall trait – which btw you would be surprised how much use you can get out of in normal terrain), could have been 7 but I ran one defensive utility. Torment that ticked very high along with bleeds ticking 135+ and the ability to stack 21 confusion with 2 interrupts(very easy to do).. All while still being very defensive with 3 blocks and decent condi removal through cleansing ire. This is also while having spam immobiles through leg specialits + flurry.
You can’t be serious calling this a “real condition warrior build”, Mace&Sword is one of the worst combination you can come with and you don’t have Fast Hand meaning you get stucked for 10sec with a subpar combination with no mobiliy whenever you would like to apply Torment or chain Stun your foe for the use of distracting strike + rune of perplexity. If you run 28K health and 3K armor it means you have almost 0 critical chance so you get almost no benefits from precise strike.
It is just a troll build, you get a lot of reflects and confusion but whenever someone sees trough your little game and take any form of condi removal, blind or stability you are left with subpar damage and no way to beat your opponent.
The build itself was already over the top, these runes with no ICD made it utterly ridiculous.
I don’t think so, this build is probably one of the worst anyone could create, you will see a lot more Sw/Sw + longbow combos and Mace/Shield + Hammer running around and be a lot more effective.
I don’t think you understand my build at all, probably because it’s not a forum fotm build.. It’s totally ok that you don’t understand it but I’d like to point out that every assumption you made about the build was completely wrong. It does actually use fast hands btw so no I’m not stuck for 10s in a weapon set. You are wrong about the crit chance as well as I use a mixture of rabid and dire. Run about 50% on crit chance under fury which is plenty. The 28k hp is with guard stacks btw.
Sword/Shield Mace/Sword imo is far superior to s/s-longbow which I have also used. Just needs to be used properly which luckily thick headed people like you don’t think outside of set rotations and fotm forum builds. I am happy my build is not all over the forum and people like you assume it would suck, because I don’t want to fight against a bunch of ppl using it.

I’m surprised they haven’t fixed these stupid runes already. runes shouldn’t be exponentially more powerful than character traits. There are way crappier runes that have 90 second cooldowns. Why this has no cooldown at all, I just cant fathom any possible reason. I might as well buy a set for all my characters. Already have some for warrior and thief just to troll people. Might as well buy them for everyone if they aren’t going to fix these stupidly overpowered things. All other runes are inferior compared to them because of how over the top they are. Almost everyone I run into in wvw runs perplexity runes. I’m gimping myself by not having them since literally almost every single person I face has them.
Easy FIX:
(1): +28 Condition Damage
(2): 15% Confusion Duration
(3): +55 Condition Damage
(4): 20% chance to cause Confusion on hit (15 second cooldown).
(5): +100 Condition Damage
Substitute this:
(6): +15% Confusion duration. Causes 10 seconds of Confusion on interrupt.
by
(6): +15% Confusion duration. Chance to spawn a perplexed duck with absolutely no purpose!
or simply add a 10 sec cd!

i strongly suspect they make changes with data farming what people are playing actively, so with people finding strengths with certain classes, more people play them, so anet boosts them to cater to the face of the month players, vs fixing issues that have been around since day 1.

The thing is, the rune is actually balanced if you look at WvW raid perspective.
Also it’s pretty balanced when used on mesmer.
However….the rest is just op, lame and way too easy to kill with.

Cant remember much of wow pvp, wasnt my cup of tea. It just feels like it’s half an hour for a developer to fix the runes as there is no complicated bug behind this, but nothing is happening for months. Thats whats disappointing me most.
Saw a ranger using this last week, it wasn’t very effective but the initial uh, confusion of confusion stacks on me was, confusing.

To be honest that skill sounds like it should stay in pve only. It would be something for people that have geared for condition damage in wvw :/

The problem is serious, it’s almost impossible to counter this, you can’t attack ‘cause of confusion ( 10+ staks ), so you dodge and wait to clean that kitten off only to see it pop 2 seconds later, and then what ? none of the player will kill each other, you can only pretend to kill noobs, that’s lame.
my mesmer moves like a tank and dies like a fly. i’d have to make him weak and useless to balance out the damage he takes. can we at least have decent damage ? no…I’m going all pve – wvw is stressful, and this is a game – a pass time, not a job. there is no real pvp to get into.
I run this with my D/D Ele. It’s really good.

my server is facing jq this week, ive never seen that many perplexity users in one area, i actually got stacked with 18 confusion just of the 4/6 skill on the runes, i some how managed to survive (stealth ftw) and me and my team mates managed to beat them but kitten if i wasn’t in the zone i was done for
i was just looking up the rune of torment, which basically has the same thing but with torment which probably does even more damage – being that the confusion skill is nerfed in pvp – it does half the pve damage. but torment hasn’t gotten “fixed” yet. – so i suppose thieves have a month or 2 to enjoy that before torment gets halved and the runes get nerfed. I’m tempted to come up with a torment build for my mesmer, but i’d rather not even try – it’s obvious it will change.

I think the new torment runes look way more OP but i haven’t tested yet.

Anet, I hope you don’t bother the runes. They are perfectly fine. No one I know has any issues with this in WvW. I know that I haven’t even seen a difference with since they were added. Perhaps most of the players taking issue with it, simply need a tutorial added to teach them to avoid skills that interrupt. Perhaps it will prevent them from simply spamming skills as a play style.

except that heals sucks in wvw and has long CD, i tried it out
my guildies are switching to those confusion runes, i see a lot of thieves with them now, 2 days ago i encountered hammer train consisting of hammer warriors abusing those runes as well…..what is next? let’s give them to tower/keep lords eh?
i don’t understand why anet is so obessed with confusion, it is really annoying and lame condi to deal with, especially if you are not warrior or guardian; in most cases it means you have to run or die; i am personally sick and tired of seeing every mob now using confusion and a lot of ppl abusing perplexity runes in wvw
