This is seriously so pathetic. They can’t let people just enjoy the game they want to. They have to force feed people things they don’t want to play. Thank you for at least bringing this to the attention of the community, I imagine this thread will be closed and deleted immediately.

WvW is GvG one way or another. Open field combat between two guilds still follows under WvW. Expesh with the new stomping = points.

Besides being ridiculously unprofessional, blaming it on the players is probably the worst thing a game designer can do. If people are taking up guild vs. guild to the point that it’s “violating” his game type, then maybe guild vs. guild should be offered separately. The problem isn’t the players; it’s that game design is so lacking that people resort to shoddy alternatives.

So unprofessional ANET. Quite shocked to be honest.

You think people come to WvW just to GvG?

It’s dedicated WvW guilds who spend 95% of their time “playing WvW” and are tired of being outnumbered and fighting for the rest of their server who does less and cares less than they do.

But really, this is one of the saddest / funniest things I’ve seen for the GvG community, because either:

1) This ANet guy had no idea what GvG was, and was thinking that we were just taking turns killing each other.

2) This ANet guy knows what GvG is, and dislikes it enough to consider a GvG a violation of “his” game mode.

Either way, this guy throwing his eKitten around seems to be a loose interpretation of:

“While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.”

This is hilarious, and sadly not surprising. The game is all but dead to me as is the current mode of WvW.. think ive played a grand total of 2 hours since the latest development “Additions” and description of their intent to destroy what was the best open world pvp currently available in an MMO. good thing they actually had people telling us this so I could stop paying them money through gem purchases.

I hope when all guilds eventually quit because of boring game mode they have created it will be zone blobs and massive lags and eventually the game will die.

CCP: eve online did some fails too in the years but they toke one look at their forum and then they changed the mind with an official apologise to the players they hired some extra ppls and changed the idea they had. they changed to what the current ppls ASK FOR.

Arenanet is not doing that the majority and the good players of WvW and GW2 is asking for arenas for GvG and WvW based set up not SPVP.

they are asking for GOOD WvW no lagging no zone blobs. atm anet want the blobs and they want the lags.

He’s obviously a WvW developer, calling WvW “his”. Since WvW only has two developers working on it, I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that the developer depicted is in fact Devon Carver. Hugh Norfolk doesn’t seem like the kind of bitter dude who would do something like this. Devon has also shown a visible distaste for GvG in the past.

You made a sandboxy PvP environment and keep trying to assign more and more rules when people JUST want to fight other people.

haha oh man, the irony. Why are there still people out there who actually think PPT even matters at all? Ever? Congratulations you are playing in a game mode that means absolutely nothing and winning due to absolutely nothing other than numbers. Skill, organization and tactics mean nothing and PVP is horrible when the solution to every one of your problems is add 20 dudes.

UO lasted forever, why did it last forever because of pvp and actual fights which involved personal skill and timing. There are still free servers to this day with that same rule set and pvp rules since when? 1997. Theres longevity.. due to BALANCE

SAB dev posts and talks to community, gets punished by anet. This guy interferes with players trying to pvp in pvp, bet he got a raise from carver and they plan to name another location after him like carver’s ascent.

That’s messed up. Let the players have fun and enjoy the game. What happened to all the GW1 PROMOTION of player made game modes? Changed to employees interfere with player made game modes now? I hope that employee gets a sit down talk. I doubt it though : /

This is really a shame. Employees need to learn that as long as they represent their company in public, their actions will be taken as the official company line. Players are going to see this as confirmation that ArenaNet hates GvG, and it’s just going to reduce trust and confidence further. That’s the last thing ArenaNet needs right now.

Lmao that’s just sad. I haven’t felt like playing WvW or GW2 since the bloodlust buffs. The fact that employees would come to antagonize their loyal players just speaks volumes on how much they care about anything WvW players think or say.

Your tears are glorious and you take this all out of context. What is the match was at an end with a victor already decided? What is one of the pictured guilds are a premier WvW guild for a server?

Its attitudes like this that force guilds to move and for people like you to moan about it. I didnt realize guilds had to go 24/7 in wvw.

Field fights that don’t contribute to PPT, duels, GvGs are all going against the dev’s vision of WvW.

Creating artificially balanced fights and otherwise having fun in ways that are not intended is pretty much an exploit.

I wanted to play with some friends this weekend (free trial) but showed them this right now. They all decided to not even give the PvE part of the game a chance. Way to lose potential new customers…

handle an A-Net Dev who simply was standing around you and was watching you?
And all that for something you should have known prior to the game that it won’t
be included any time soon. Shouldn’t you try and polish your own image a little?
If this keeps on, GvG might really become a banable offense, and I doubt you would
like that, but this way I can imagine that the devs are fed up with this scene.

Open field combat is supported in WvW. Hell they even give out points for stomps now to promote open world combat. Just because some people set up their own code of conduct on how they want to fight those open field fights doesnt make it ‘unsupported’. Under supported sure, but WvW is based on fighting both against towers and in the field.

If we are gonna call GvG’s unsupported then so is dueling – and by extension it should be stopped.

I thought its pretty obvious that any sort of PvP in general is an unsupported game mode when it comes to Guild Wars 2.

They don’t want griefing in this game after all.

Are you missing where the Anet Tag says they are infringing on his game mode? Thats what the uproar is about. Not that he stood around.

If you want to have GvG supporters no longer posting, then lets also get all the PvE complainers, PvP complainers and everyone else with an opinion to stop posting too, and we will just leave GW2 alone as is because no one wants to read people complaining.
