Thoughts on the Cloaking Waters Nerf?
I think its too early to call for a nerf since cloaking waters barely ever worked.
1.5 minutes could get from SMC to ogrewatch with time to setup the bomb before the buff wore out.
Just lol. 1 minute stealth!! On a WvW map?! Why tweak such “features”, anyone thinks at Anet that we go to WvW to avoid each other? Truly?
It’s a bullkitten “feature” that only helps the strongest server. It should be removed entirely.
Who was the kitten that said, "Hey do you guys remember culling? Wouldn’t it be fun to have that game breaking bug back again? "
I’m looking forward to the next “feature” that allows you to fly if you get over 400ppt. That way whoever is winning can just speed up their karma train and not have to waste money on siege.

Considering it was often bugged and worked for 0 minutes, the Nerf doesn’t really seem like a Nerf at all…
This just shows how out of touch they still are despite all their talk of improving WvW.

Complete invisibility stealth in itself is a kittenty mechanic in context of the surrounding systems in GW2.
RvR isn’t “endgame”, it’s the only game. Cu in CU.

Its like they thought people love fighting perma stealth thieves and mesmers, so they came up with a brilliant idea…LETS MAKE IT SO AN ENTIRE ZERG CAN GO INVISIBLE, just by pulling a lever…why anet…just why….
If there is any silver lining about this crap, it’s at least this specific gimmick is unique to only SMC…

That’s not the problem I find, because once you unstealth it is basically a long duration veil. The problem is once the fountain is up then you can reuse it over and over.

I see it has a a gimmick introduced to avoid larger ammounts of skills being used:
Avoids the other server having reaction time to spam skills, and that causes less calcs from server side.
It is suposesed to work like a memory flush button lol.
What is the CD on CW?? 5 minutes?
Less people clicking, less lag, faster win, every 5 minutes.

This was due to the overwhelming positive feedback that people found stealth very fun to fight, and there should be more of it, especially in an open area where you don’t get penalized for capture point contribution as you would in pvp.

It’s still detrimental to the game mode and should just be removed or replaced. The stealth buff in the desert borderland is good because it’s localised and easy to counter by just taking a shrine. The fountain stealth buff is just silly because it allows entire zergs to move from stonemist to their chosen location with no threat of being spotted. How is that interesting or exciting for anyone involved? I didn’t even realise the fountain could be destroyed – surely that was a good thing?
Anyway, it’s just another feature that gets in the way of the player-player interaction that is the foundation of the game mode.
Please remove it. That kind of things should not exist in pvp.
Btw, if people wants stealth theres alot of skills to be used already….people need to learn to use skill cleverlly not just add a stealth fountain..

That wouldnt work properly since its a built guild upgrade and needs to be activated from inside. Outnumbered is an effect, not a buff, so there is the added problem of giving an unfair advantage.

That wouldnt work properly since its a built guild upgrade and needs to be activated from inside. Outnumbered is an effect, not a buff, so there is the added problem of giving an unfair advantage.
i just wiki’d sm. havent played wvw at all for a while now and i finally see why people are revolting. stuff like minor supply drop, sabotage depot, iron guard and hardened gates seem ok to me. well nvm hardened gates should be baseline.

my thought was if the stealth could only be used by smaller servers (and it had a t1 req) then smaller servers could stand a chance by backcapping. then i realized this is a bad idea because it forces the other servers to continually chase after them (backcapping bad).

yep its like anet forgotten the time when we had culling. REMEMBER ANET!!!! it took them sooo long to finally fix culling and everyone was so happy…. and they introduce a 1 MINUTE ( not a few seconds) stealth mechaninc for ENTIRE zergs….. its so stupid that i wanna slap who ever invented this mechanic… anet please remove all guild gimmicks from wvw and give us something that is not breaking wvw even more.

I’m sure it would kitten off a few people if they removed it, but there is also a good amount of players that are kittened off that it exists in the first place.
The question is who is the bigger group, and is it healthier to have it in the game or to admit they made a mistake and remove it.
Judging by the responses in this thread I think they are better off removing it.

No but seriously Anet, ditch this upgrade since you’re effectively reintroducing culling. Now there is a real power creep in the mix thanks to prior changes to traits and stability combined with other HoT goodies. Combat is becoming depressing and that was a major selling point for GW2. Public test servers are in order I think.

Balanced by gw2 standards, so it means could be a bit, just a little bit more stronger like:
Payers should keep invisible for the next 5 minutes, even if they use skills, that actually would fit the game, use gimmick to win, be clever by being a cheap player etc, would fit the theme, lots of skill yeah.

That will be the next guild upgrade they introduce. It will cost a few thousand of some kittenty PvE drop that you find on one of the HoT maps.
