The thing that i wounder about when Reading on the forum is what game have you played when you complane that Arenanet is slow with updates? can not be WOW it took them 7 years to make it 3d, it cant be AOC they still havent fixed things that should be with when it was realiced, can not be SW-TOR so what game is it.

Actually I would not mind a “put the fracking pet away permanently” option for my ranger. Pets to me are more trouble than they’re worth always getting me into combat when I’m trying to turn tail and run.

That sounds like a huge game-breaking buff you’re talking about.

Get rid of stealth-reveal traps and give them to the rangers. Get rid of the supply removal traps and give them to engineers.

IMO, every class should have a special ability tied to siege. Like how if you pick up a boulder on elementalist, you can throw it down as a meteor for extra burning damage, where other classes can just knock people down with them. All of this works with trebs, catapults. Something like:

Engineer: Treb/Catapult stones remove 1 supply per hit.
Ranger: Stones remove stealth.
Thief: Stones apply blindness.
Necro: Stones apply short fear.
Elementalist: Same as evasive arcana.
Guardian: Retaliation or aegis on allies.
Warrior: Stones drop random banners.
Mesmer: Stones apply confusion.

Would make for more flashy effects and a neat mechanic. Also would make more sense to make defensive catapults/trebs. Right now the only thing to use is arrow carts.

As of last patch pets and mobs cannot initiate aggro without you initiating it first.

You get two chests for as long as you have excess rank whereas others get just one. Everyone is on the same footing here so I don’t get the issue. There’s got to be good reasons ANET chose this direction. Since they have a chance to drop great loots, perhaps anet didn’t want to blow up the economy. It’s either that or a ton of chests all full of junk, by this theory. Just a thought.

Indeed…just get or your lvl 80 alt’s to rank 20…then go back to playing your main……that’s what i propose to do anyway.

Biggest problem I have with it is that they don’t award the players who have gained all these ranks by just giving them what is rightly theirs. Also the fact that I play a lot of alts, that all passed the rank 5 line, where the wxp required is 5k. Rank 1-3 required only 1k wxp, so that’s 3 chests very easy to gather.

Since I already passed these easy ranks I never got the chests there, and the ranks ahead are a lot harder to attain. Because I play several characters I won’t get my rewards very easily, cause it would require me to get 5×5k wxp per character. Some of my characters are higher than that, so means an average 7 times the 5k wxp.
Now, I also have 6 characters I play WvW on.

In total this would require me to farm a lot of wxp. 6 × 7 × 5 = 210k wxp. As I’m a casual player I will never reach 210k wxp, and as a conclusion, will never get my reward. Thank you Anet.

this is their first wvw related patch that hasnt made me instantly want to quit, so i guess its a step in the right direction (probably too late for most people tho).

this patch wont do anything to resolve the extreme lack of group/squad/commander/guild wvw functionality tho, its just giving other stuff to distract us

This is really simple. Say, you’re rank 20 now, and the other dude is rank 1 (just started). You keep on playing wvw for about a year or two. You hit rank 50 and have gotten 49 chests for it. The other dude also hit rank 50 and has gotten 49 chests for it. What exactly isn’t fair here?

On the other hand, these chests will include expensive items (even precursors were confirmed). They’d have to give out 10s of thousands of these chests on patch days, effectively destroying the market in roughly 3 seconds after the patch hit.

Most players if they play like they normally play, will get their chests eventually. Some people are so dramatic with the “I will never get my rewards” line. If you want your reward sooner, main that character until you get to the correct rank. You may not get your reward this month but it’ll be nice to get extra chests next month or a few months from now.

your error is in believing that rewards for ranks already gained are “rightly yours”. when you gained your existing ranks, you were not expecting reward chests, and the failure to receive them wasn’t a bug. you never got chests because there were no chests to be gotten.

the reward chests are new. starting on a certain future date, getting WxP ranks is going to have these additional rewards on top of what you were already getting (points to spend, and rank titles). you don’t deserve to get any backlog rewards at all, but Arenanet is giving it to us anyway, because they’re trying to be nice.

And you’re complaining that they’re not being nice enough, because you want all your future rewards right now. That’s like complaining when an expansion comes out that raises the level cap, because all the XP you earned after hitting the old cap isn’t retroactively applied to instantly level you up to the new cap on the first day.

finding out what’s inside these new chests is supposed to be fun. and the fun of finding out is intended to be had over time, as you rank up. it is not intended to be 100% discovered in the first couple of minutes after the patch, when people with lots of ranks open up hundreds of chests and ruin the surprise for the rest of us.

Sorry ken, but the example you give in which the players reached max level and got all geared up for it, and then find out they will get a higher level cap and won’t get leveled to it and have to farm it all over again, would make about 50% of the players of this game quit if such a thing happened. In that view, it’s not a good example at all.

The point is, me and other players never get all the chests back that we had already earned. And I don’t think it nice of Anet that they give us chests for ranks we already got. I think they are obliged to. Imo, players who played earlier than others deserve a reward for it.

you already got a reward for it — you have rank points to spend on things like Arrow Cart Mastery that other players who haven’t ranked up don’t have.

and you’ll be getting a new reward in the future — you’ll get rank chests at double the rate of other players, until you’ve cleared your backlog.

I cannot think of a single game where retroactive rewards would even be considered, unless the rewards were planned from the start and not given due to a bug. most of the time when new content is introduced, you are expected to play the game to get it. even when existing loot is changed, they don’t always retroactively change things for players who already got the old stuff, leading to “pre-patch” vs “post-patch” items.

when Arenenet changed the drop rules for loot bags in WvW, they didn’t retroactively give support classes hundreds of bags to make up for what they missed under the old scheme. they didn’t even give us a backlog. support builds got nothing except a new improved system going forward.

It would have been entirely within Arenanet’s rights to do the same here — new rank chests going forward and nothing else.

I don’t think new rewards make people quit games. I didn’t see a lot of people quit when Ascended gear was added because they had already gotten Exotics and didn’t want to farm for gear again. new rewards keep games interesting, because the same things you did before now have better outcomes.

Ascended items and infusions both will cost a less than normal amount of laurels, and a badge cost as well. (Ascended accessories will remain laurels + ecto, but with new WvW rank reward chests you’re going to be getting a lot more Ecto!)

Something totally different:

Any chance you guys gonna look into the possible builds of like… almost all professions and some WvW stuff? Just to give a few examples:
1. Best ranger build out there atm is bunker with greatsword.
2. Running with 30 guardians is the most effective setup out there as a raid due the constant high healing, high retaliation damage, high surviveability, constant swiftness and massive CC.
3. The massive confusion nerfs, causing 25% of all mesmer builds to be worthless, without adding any new or good stuff.
4. 90% of the roamers are thiefs, I really wonder why you even buffed them last patch by getting the revealed buff back to normal, which was totally not necessary.
5. The amount of PvE crap being add to the game, but barely any good WvW content. And yes, Good wvw content, not traps or arrow cart mastery.
6. The keep waypoint that goes uncontested after the timer ends, while I’m sure you guys said 2 months ago you were ’’working’’ on it to fix it cause it was not working as intended.

I could go on like this for a while, but guess I made my point.

Oh btw, I’m going mental if the asc gear will only be 5 laurels less and 500 badges more.

For Badges, 500 per piece is pretty high. Builders, sentries, and yak whippers are quite valuable to the PPT. Yet, badges are NOT rewarded to those doing the dirty work. So let’s keep the pricing realistic!

Let’s also not attempt to price these for those whom Zerg’d 10+ hours a day on a necro or scepter guardian. People whom work and have kids and only play for 1-2 a day (normal folk) should be able to get these too. 500 badges a piece would then require 22,500 badges to gear all 5 characters across a standard account. That’s WAY too high.

There also should have been an advanced warning on this coming. Making the JP chest account bound, pushed us to start using badges for siege. Now adding this AFTERWARDS, is kinda swarmy. I’m certain some of us now wish they had the badges back.

3×500 x5, more like 7500 badges, which is quite easy to obtain if you’re a WvW player.. But who actually would get asc items for all chars anyway? Bit waste of time to rather focus your time to get gears instead of skill.

Sorry, I should have added I was already extrapolating for all 6 trinkets/accessories. And, 500 being the least amount and a non flat rate applied up to the other items.

Btw… what is a waste about it? I’m not a one dimensional player. I play multiple professions each day. Of course I’d want them all to be geared optimally. Let’s not even go into the fact that Anet has and will continue to change the meta. Requiring build changes and extra purchases per alt.

I agree, but as mentioned by some intellectual above, mesmers are too powerful with their flashy clone bs, elementalists move too fast for my guardian even on the very rare condition I am running perma-swiftness, so maybe a 50% slow for them, I think thieves should not be allowed to enter stealth or attack for over 100 dmg, because they can kill me if they try hard. And we should nerf RG as well, they’re too powerful atm. Removing weapons from warriors would be good Cept main hand mace, rangers shouldn’t be able to shoot from so far, so reduce longbow and shortbow range by 50% and change them all to 20% projectile finisher chance.

I think I might seriously agree with your second last point.

If people are going to complain that they don’t get chests from ranks they earned before hand I have a complaint. I wvw in T8 and I can’t follow a zerg that gets me 100 badges an hour and I don’t gain multiple wvw levels a day. T8 should get buffed exp and drop rates because of our smaller population.

Ascended items and infusions both will cost a less than normal amount of laurels, and a badge cost as well. (Ascended accessories will remain laurels + ecto, but with new WvW rank reward chests you’re going to be getting a lot more Ecto!)

Something totally different:

Any chance you guys gonna look into the possible builds of like… almost all professions and some WvW stuff? Just to give a few examples:
1. Best ranger build out there atm is bunker with greatsword.
2. Running with 30 guardians is the most effective setup out there as a raid due the constant high healing, high retaliation damage, high surviveability, constant swiftness and massive CC.
3. The massive confusion nerfs, causing 25% of all mesmer builds to be worthless, without adding any new or good stuff.
4. 90% of the roamers are thiefs, I really wonder why you even buffed them last patch by getting the revealed buff back to normal, which was totally not necessary.
5. The amount of PvE crap being add to the game, but barely any good WvW content. And yes, Good wvw content, not traps or arrow cart mastery.
6. The keep waypoint that goes uncontested after the timer ends, while I’m sure you guys said 2 months ago you were ’’working’’ on it to fix it cause it was not working as intended.

I could go on like this for a while, but guess I made my point.

Oh btw, I’m going mental if the asc gear will only be 5 laurels less and 500 badges more.

I agree, but as mentioned by some intellectual above, mesmers are too powerful with their flashy clone bs, elementalists move too fast for my guardian even on the very rare condition I am running perma-swiftness, so maybe a 50% slow for them, I think thieves should not be allowed to enter stealth or attack for over 100 dmg, because they can kill me if they try hard. And we should nerf RG as well, they’re too powerful atm. Removing weapons from warriors would be good Cept main hand mace, rangers shouldn’t be able to shoot from so far, so reduce longbow and shortbow range by 50% and change them all to 20% projectile finisher chance.

I think I might seriously agree with your second last point.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get dumber than anet’s WvW changes the last 2 months, I read your post.

I try speaking of dumb, since when did RG members complain about ‘guardian zergs’ and complain to get people nerfed?

Since guilds started to abuse running with 30 guardians and keeping up without knowing what they’re doing at all. People who actually understand the classes of this game and know how to play them win of them by skill, but that doesn’t mean you can almost compete with that skill by creating a guardian zerg without knowing what to do at all. Just try it yourself, but I’ll have 0 respect for you or any guild out there who abuse the strength of a guardian like a headless chicken in raid WvW.

As for the profession changes I would call, am not speaking as a RG member, but as a Guild Wars 2 player. A player who sees a beautiful game die because of the kittened changes that are made in the whole game. Ranger was never been what it should be. Always bugged and wierd, but giving a ranger, which is supposed to be master of the bow, a greatsword-tank build that’s almost the only reliable solo build out there is just kittened.

Aswell with the thiefs crying over and over when their prof gets touched only a bit. But they know why. Arenanet prefers listening to these people who aren’t more ,or even less, skilled than the average warrior or necromancer, but yet somehow win in almost any situation possible just because its so easy to deal damage. And sure, I agree thiefs should be better at roaming than, lets say, warriors. But they were still better at roaming than anything else with the nerfs, weren’t they? So what are they now with the reroll, the buffs they’ve gotten and the nerfs for antibuilds, such as confusion mesmer? That’s moreless the point I’m trying to make.

im happy they considered that some people have a high rank already and and getting 2 chests until u have all chests u deserve is a good way to get what u deserve. anet really wants to make a change for wvw and seems to finally listen to us.lets just wait for the 28th and see how the changes will work.
i hope we are getting new maps soon too though as the bl maps arr boring.lets givem a chance and try to enjoy the first few improvements before we complain. who knows maybe the patch after that anet comes up with something really epic, like map changesand new stuff for guilds, new weapons, new skins(cool ones). we will see so don’t be so pessimistic already.it seems like anest is finally trying to listen to us.

WvW Matchup Changes

Here’s what AN envisions… Using one of their examples, a possible matchup between rank 8 Kaineng going up against rank 1 Blackgate: Kaineng is inspired by this unexpected and otherwise impossible chance to test its mettle against #1 Blackgate, and by sheer force of will and mighty perseverance, and against all odds – they beat Blackgate!

More likely scenario: Kaineng gets thoroughly stomped by Blackgate over the weekend after reset, are totally dispirited and give up on WvW for the rest of the week, with many people wondering when the next best pvp MMO will be released, so they’ll have something else to play during weeks like this.

This is hands down, the stupidest thing decision I’ve seen from the Anet team, and that’s saying alot.

Tell you what. Let’s apply this concept to Anet’s paychecks. When payday comes around, you’ll all use your beloved RNG to modify what you’ve earned for your hard work to keep things interesting. Don’t worry though, we’ll keep it in an acceptable amount.

Its not outrageous but they have to find a way to properly gauge when such matchups should occur, based on the example provided they have not found it. I would actually suggest that Anet shouldn’t implement this until they have tweaked it to an extent that the proposed matchups look more reasonable.

you’ll never be able to buy ascended items for badges.

1) badges are kitten easy to get on high tiers, this is so you can buy lots of siege.
2) waaaay too many people are stuffed senseless with badges and are too selfish too buy lots of siege and want rewards for themselves, aka ascended items.

Well they’ll be left with the casual WvW population that they clearly want. The large majority of major guilds still left are going to leave the game when these other releases happen, members will probably still be here on a casual basis but nothing more than that.
