WvW is so lagy.
Welcome lowly nomads to what you all called “the future of triple A mmos”, free to play.
players – “the game lags and is under repaired”
anet/zealots – “its ok, its free to play, what do you expect”
players – “classes are poorly maintained and/or balanced”

Yes, i will gladly pay what the cheapos consider a fortune to avoid this in TESO if it holds up.
The game is buy to play, i bought the game. WvW is fun but it feels like this is a early beta version of it.

So it might be just me but I have been noticing a trend in WvW lag, and whenever there is a zerg content in the PvE land, the skill lag in WvW increases. The skill lag was almost all gone some months ago after the WvW season 1 had ended, but now it is back.
Does WvW run on the same servers as used for the PvE living story contents? Because if the servers are trying to process 300 players on EBG and then another 1000 on one PvE map + the overflows then this could lead to more skill lag in WvW.
However, there is very little skill lag in PvE even in 150 zerg fights, so I could be wrong…..
I live on the other side of the world and have rarely gotten lag.
Can’t always lay it on Anet’s servers.
The limit of people is more than the server can handle.
The amount of skill lag in wvw is insane.
Now lag on the low-tiered servers. Just saying.

I’m sure it has nothing to do with the lack of players though…
I logged in to Wvw yesterday.. ran about 20 steps.. lagged out, got stuck, used an emote, but then i couldn’t use any skills (again) and logged off..
what’s the use anymore
Bring back culling as an option, i would rather play invisible stuff then not being able to do anything..

You ppls’ connections and/or pcs must suck, b/c I barely ever have lag or skilllag issues, aside from a 3way clusterfudge inside Stonemist here and there when theres an INSANE amount of ppl in one place. Other than that, no issues. Maybe it’s not the game that is the problem, but for you that’s just the easiest thing to blame it on…

Map blob vs map blob vs map blob in a keep or SMC. I don’t care how good your computer is. You will get skill lag if anything.

Anet self admits that there is lag issues, so play wvw some more and get a clue dude.

It’s a Buy To Play, big difference there. And have fun with TESO,every p2p in the past have been proven to be a complete failure and going True F2p soon afterwards, except one offcourse.
Is this lag going to be fixed by the time the Season starts? There was almost no skill lag for 2-3 months, but the past month has been horrible.
When seasons start, the achievement hunters come back out, and with more people on the maps, the skill lag will take absolutely any fun and playability out of WvW.

I remember reading somewhere that it depends what server you are on. If it is a high population one then it is more likely to lag in WvW zergs. Which makes sense.
T1 has gotten unplayable lately. I had a fun incident where a JQ guy and me started a fight, and neither of us could hit the other – no skills were going off at all. So we sat down, grouped up and had a bit of chit chat, then went on our ways.
When big blob fight i switch to best performance then all is ok.

That will only effect your FPS, and has nothing to do with skill lag.

Yeah, all OUR computers and connections absolutely SUCK. facepalm
Dude, if hundreds of people experience the same lag in the same situations then it surely is not our system’s fault.
After they fixed it the first time it was really good for a long time. You could have 3way fights in smc with almost no lag.
Since the last few patches however its gotten a lot worse where any 40v40 has a potential to lag out the servers.

It works for me, when i get skill lag so i cant heal i change settings to performance and then i can heal.

T1 NA Fight is just like: log on a guardian and spam staff 1 cause is the only kitten works. Cant take a garrison fighting agains 2 servers 50×50×50x (or more) is just unreal the lag. NOTHING WORKS, NOTHING!
The real T1 gvg heroes.
ROFL yup pretty much. I’m on JQ. The lag is real. SO REAL.

You heard it here guys. Your PCs just officially hit the wall and are “over the hill”. All of them hit the limit at the exact same time too.
Don’t feel bad, my 4930k, 690gtx, Raid0 SSDs, and 64G of ram I put together last month – poof also “over the hill” at the exact same time yours was.
I;m going to buy some intel stock. -and yes T1 here.
Lag continues… however, the opportunity for the collision of 2-3 zergs of 50+ participants is diminished due to the calendar.

What’s worse than that?
How about commanders who call all the players out in map chat so the griefing can start against any who have disconnects and tells them they need to start the client over.
Negating our many (and for me documented in glorious screenshots) disconnects are people in the game who are not being kind – in fact they are getting pretty darn nasty about this being the player’s “fault” even with all of our graphics turned down and rebooting ad nauseum.
It’s not our computers – it’s whatever happened Friday that is different than it was the week before – EB continues to disconnect many.

There are always people that assume it’s your PC because it doesn’t happen to them. You get comments like that because people are completely ignorant to how the internet functions, or even to determine the difference between PC performance and network/server issues.
The widespread nature of lag/disconnects points to the cause being either the servers themselves or a routing point between players and the server. The fact that many of the problems seem to only effect wvw, and not pve, server issues are most likely the cause. Even if it’s a 3rd party network provider causing the issue, it’s likely closer to Anet’s end since it effects so many people. Anet might not be a direct customer of that particular provider, but they do have control over which networks they buy bandwidth from.
Shifting their own services away from the provider(s) peered with the problem network, even if just temporarily (to allow time to fix said issues), could solve the issues players are having. I’ve seen this very thing happen with at least one other game due to major issues with one network. Unlike residential services, these types of network services usually give the customer some leverage over the direct provider via Service Level Agreements. And those providers would have similar contracts with the other network providers they peer with. In simple terms, if Anet’s ISP is not providing the quality of service being paid for, Anet should have the right to terminate the contract and change provider.

If the servers can’t handle the limited amount of ppl they should have lowered the limit to a point where their servers can handle every action. 2 years now and the game still lags when zergs collide.
There is a pvp tourny in the works and there has just been a showcasing of the spvp mode..now figure out where they re allocate the wvw resources to….
Bingo!
Rather than updating your rig, buying a 1gb leased line and everything else, just accept that wvw is treated as last in the queue for resources.
Lower the limit! The lag we’re having on FSP now is insane, and i die cause i can’t use any of my skills on ele. I feel forced to use guard/war in WvW, just to stay allive. It’s so sad you have the limit that high. The server can’t handle that amount of ppl.
playing on eu sfr.. no lags
Seems like the devs don’t realise the amount of lag that exists in our wvw. The limit of people havent changed and the lag isn’t gone. Lower the limit of ppl should be an easy solution until they get better servers.

So true, lags/random disconnects. Anyway, I don’t care anymore. I just play sometimes at late night when there is no mindless zergs running and no lags.
I wish they change Zerg Wars to some instances like Fort Aspenwood, Jade Quarry or Alliance Battles. I miss these modes so much
An update on this. The team is actively working towards a solution for the lag issue many of you have experienced. They have already tried a few potential fixes that did not yield the expected results and are continuing to root out potential causes.
Suffice to say, they aren’t ignoring this problem.

Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention to the original post. I noticed the recent posts and had seen an internal discussion recently about the lag situation and wanted to provide a bit of an update.

Thank you for the update Mark it’s appreciated, The lag is still very much present for a lot of people.
Thnx Mark for being here and show us that Anet havent given up on WvW

Yes, in my experience and from discussions my guildies and I had every LS update always results in mass disconnects from wvw (sometimes even entire map blob dcs – at least on EU servers) and persistent lags/disconnects (up to around 5ish dc’s in one hour) for some players….
So either you guys just started working on this and got the ball rolling…
…or you have been making next to 0 progress for 9 months.
I dunno which is the worse idea.
To be fair, I can deal with lag to an extent. Even crippling >3 seconds lag i can anticipate and compensate for my skill use fairly well if the fight is large enough scale. I have been forced to learn to do so.
But the framerate lag in large fights is ridiculous. Even with low-detail models and ALL other graphical options on their lowest graphical settings I get horrendous framerate on a 3.8ghz OC’d 5930k and GTX 980. This is a computer that plays Crysis 3 on max and almost never dips below 60.
What gives? Draw me freaking stick-men on the screen and dont render ANY spell-effects aside from AoE fields if it lets me maintain a smooth framerate in zergfights.
Getting lag in high population maps in pve too. Guess they did the usual of pulling off server capacity to support the glorious e-sport that is standing on circles and playing cheese runners with screaming children as commentators (aka spvp tournament that less than 3,000 people watched on twitch). That $50,000 first prize could have paid a wvw dev for a year!
Luckily there are no longer queues for t1 EU match ups so d/cing a lot no longer makes too much difference.
@OP Hey , last year i had serious lag issues with WvW, i solved them by upgrading my PC and buying better quality internet service , i know that spending more money isn’t a solution for every situation but in this case it worked 100% im basically lag free the only noticeable frame drops for me is if i follow a zerg. I suggest investing in ether upgrading your pc and or internet service. Ps i live on the US east cost which is relatively far from the NA servers.
Hoped i contributed to you problem positively
CHEERS!

We not talk here about poor pc performance but skill lag, sometimes in zerg you cant even fire a single skill, this is server lag and desynchro.

Trust me i do know the difference between server lag and pc lag, and to be honest with you i don’t even have that problem anymore. Server lag does exist but idk if it happens as often or a.s kittenome people claim if it does. Its most likely at peak hurs and be serious about it , its to be expected even on high end pc with above average connections. As far as my experiences playing gw2 since (before) launch i think the server lag issue have gotten WAY better.
Time to upgrade them toasters bros.
I’m on Blackgate and so far I’ve never had skill lag. What happens for me is that when the huge zergs meet I get the FPS issue until I finally crash. Lately though, I’ve noticed something else. Sometimes I will get crashes without zerg on zerg or when leaving for LA. When it happens, I notice that I get a “script has stopped responding” error from my browser that is open in the background. Just my 2cents

That could be because your on a densely populated server, may i ask what state you live in so i can see if it has anything to do with how far you are from the servers ?
Dunno what’s happening. It has been a while i freeze when i join homeBL in Sfr. No zerg, no fights or small/roaming figths and the computer freeze. You can say, it’s your pc or internet provider. i answer no, because when i switch BL everything is gone, the game is smoothie. Something wrong here.
