I’m really curious about this. Will the players have a say on who becomes the new member of the council? Like depending on how many players completes tasks for each one we will see one steping to the council?

The first story step showed it like we will support Elen Kiel and Evon is acting shaddy like he’s the guy we have to stop. But with that image preview I have hopes we can really dictate the future of this.

The story is looking like we’re going to support Kiel, but honestly I have more confidence for the position on Evon Gnashblade, the guy that runs the most powerful commercial institution in Tyria so he clearly has experience at leading and managing. Kiel has always been a very bland character in my eyes, some of her dialogues and actions make her look really plain, she had potential to be really complex, but she missed that potential (even if she managed to trick the Consortium and destroy the contracts, the way she handled everything before that could’ve make her evolve much more). She might be heroic (though she heavily depends on the “hero” helping her) and all that, and she’s clearly designed as the “support-me-I’m-heroic” character on the living story… but I don’t trust her to have a position at the Council. She was just promoted to Captain and mostly thanks to us. Evon is clearly the better option to run the show.

So… we will be able to support one or the other? And will it have long term consequences (as I said, it would be really cool if we, the players, could choose who ascends to the council)? Or it will be fixed so one of them (Kiel) clearly wins (or even that no matter who we choose, a third character steps up to the council so we can choose one but it will be for nothing)?

Even if the player base ends up chosing Kiel, I would like to have the opportunity to support Evon campaign. He isn’t an evil character despite the story part picturing him as shaddy (not every businessman has to be evil…) and he’s clearly the most experienced character for the job.

It wouldn’t be the first time they let us choose. In GW1 players could choose between Grenth and Dwayna during Wintersday. And when Grenth won by an overwhelming majority, they extended the festivities in Grenth’s favor.

So everyone, choose for the power of evil! Choose for that sneaky Evon. That will teach Kiel a lesson in humility.

I like Kiel, I’m supporting her.
Also on Wintersday in GW1 I usually supported Dwayana unless I was in a odd numbered server.

I like what I’ve seen of Evon so far, and Kiel has been a little meh to me. I’d probably go with Evon if I got the chance. xD Throw some chaos Lion’s Arch’s way if he’s a baddie, I’m sure they can handle it!

As far as Kiel vs Evon…..darts. I have no clue who either of those characters are.

Keep in mind that if you do vote for Evon, he will not have to kill you in your sleep.

Support Evon, because, you know, the most stinking rich guy in all of Tyria, who already has a ton of influence, should absolutely also hold a council position.

Because what could possibly go wrong? When has that ever been a recipe for disaster?

Kiel on the other hand – What does she have to offer that could be of benefit to the public? A moral compass, strong work ethics… nobody needs that in a position of power and responsibility.

I would otherwise like Evon more … but I don’t think I can support someone who sells RNG lottery weapon skins for gems.

I’d like to pick Evon. Don’t know why they portrayed him as a shady character in that cutscene, the Black Lion Trading Company were portrayed as good guys before in contrast to the Consortium.

Evon, of course. We, charrs, have a strong sense of solidarity.

Moreover, if he’s as fierce in defending LA’s interest as he is in buisiness, I’m sure he’ll do better than Kiel’s morality.
After all, for us charrs the end justifies the means.

According to some DAT files mined, Evon is offering cheaper black lion keys and the return of the molten facility dungeon in the fractals, while Kiel is offering lowering waypoint costs and the return of the aetherblade retreat… sooo…

If it was off of personality I suspect Evon would win (because Keil doesn’t have one). Unfortunately, WP costs will be far more appealing the Black Lion Key reductions (everyone uses WPs, very few people buy Black Lion Keys) so the competition is heavily stacked in Keil’s favour.

Think of the childr…eeer.. low level characters that are going broke over waypoint costs!!! Vote Kiel!!!..

(Also I didn’t have a chance to try the AR dungeon so I want it to come back.. )

Exactly my thoughs. I WANT to vote for Evon if we have the possibility.

But this is obviously biased. There are a lot of people (including me) that wanted the Aetherblade Dungeon returning (if and only if the achievements are back, if not I prefer Molten Facility 1000000 times over it!), and offering reduced waypoint costs will always win over reduced cost on black lion keys (unless the keys hare halved in price and the waypoint reduction is like 2%).

They gave Kiel all the sweet offers (including something that everyone uses in a daily basis versus something that only people that regularly spend gold or real money on keys would apreciate), this is clearly biased if true!! I’ll still vote for Evon just because Kiel is bland in comparison and she’s the favorite child of a-net with those offers that she shouldn’t even give as there is already a Council Captain that owns the waypoints ¬¬ This is sooooooooooooooo rigged…

Be very careful about assuming what you find in the .dat is exactly what you’ll see on live going forward. With our new feature development technology to allow multiple teams to overlap, you could be looking at extremely out of date text/info, or content we experimented with we aren’t doing.

I REALL REALLY hope if this is in fact him, it means that their biased promises will be changed. Reduced waypoint costs (specially if they don’t say the amount as everyone will asume it will be a huge reduction) wins over temporal decrease on keys. It curbstomps it, and no matter the personality of each one (and we all know Evon is rhe right candidate!!) and what we think of them, Kiel would win because she will be given the best offer with a huuuuuge margin.

I will be really disappointed if their promises remain the same, they’re super biased in favor of Kiel (and while the Molten Alliance fractal would be cool, we all know both fractals would end up being available, so it’s all about waypoint costs versus temporal offer in keys that we get all the time anyway).

I HATE Kiel, but I want her to win so that she will be so busy with politics that we will never hear of her again. I want her out of the living story. Forever.
I’m not a huge fan of Evon either, but just because something about him gives me the creeps. I’m not sure why.

While there is a lot I like about GW2, the story I am sad to say isn’t one of them including the characters themselves. They really should kick this up like 50 notches in general.

. . . please note, “good guys in contrast to the Consortium” there. Also, the Black Lion company has it’s shady side too. Haven’t you heard they’re price fixing the precursors?

I like Ellen since I ran into her before with the Lost Shores event. (Someone who started pulling aside adventurers and going “hey, you, can you get to the bottom of what the heck just rolled the Lionguard like we owed them money?”) I like Evon’s pragmatism and general attitude just from the cutscene starting this month’s Living Story.

I’ll wait until I see what they offer, then back which one appeals most. It’s how I chose Kurzick/Luxon

I gotta say, I’m going to go for Evon, i’d love to see the Chaos that goes down when he becomes the councilman, and he’s rich, so that means he’ll probably bribe me more!

I would vote for Evon because i’m a Charr, but if what was datamined is to be true, then i have to go with Kiel. Cheaper waypoints interest me far more.

As much as I want a return of the Molten Facility over Aetherblade Retreat (better dungeon IMHO; AR was not designed with rangers in mind and I main a ranger), permanent cost lowering of waypoints is a far better reward than a temporary Black Lion Key sale. Sales will happen anyways. Waypoint cost lowering won’t.

Plus I hate keys and the real money RNG lottery they bring on principle. If I buy something with gems, I want to know I’m getting what I pay for. I DON’T want to grind away gems with the hope that I’ll get what I’m seeking.

Will it? None of it looks like it was actually her choice. Looks more like she is basically being ordered to by her boss. Losing might be preferable for her so she wouldn’t have to be stuck with a job she doesn’t seem to want.

Just to ask how do you know what who will do if they win?
(also if Kiel does lower waypoint costs, how come Evon doesnt do something shady, like tamper with outcoming mats to make all armor unbreakable? Getting rid of proxy competition and helping adventurers)

If the return of the Molten Facility meant we’d also get new opportunities to obtain the Jetpack and Sentinel gear/Azurite again, then my vote leans heavily towards Evon. Otherwise, the reduced Waypoint costs that Kiel’s offering sounds very, very tempting.

Both seeing how BLT is based on the pirate history of LA.

Dont really get the Keil hate. I dont exactly find her really interesting as a character but she’s done nothing to make me hate her. I certianly dont see how Ebon, who literally has only 3 lines of dialog in the entire game, and only one of which is voiced, could be considered more developed or how Keil is supposed to be like Kormir.

As for the vote, Id probably go with Keil. I just like her better and think she has better oppotunity for story development, particularly since she is both proactive and has an Airship. Plus our characters are already freinds of her.

She could certianly do with a bit more character development past the whole diciplined workaholic thing she currently got going. We really havent gotten to know her as a ‘person’ yet. Makes it hard to sypathise with her particularly compared to Rox and Braham.
