IMO: ArenaNet favors Evon (Unfair!)
The amount of negativity in this thread is pretty ridiculous. You guys realize that this is intended to be fun, right? This isn’t an election for the leader of a real country or even the leader of Kryta. It’s for a city council seat in Lion’s Arch. Whoever wins will no doubt have an impact on where the story goes next but it isn’t like we’re determining the fate of the game or something.
I highly doubt ArenaNet has stacked anything in favor of Evon Gnashblade. They’ve presented two characters with strengths and weaknesses and they’re leaving the outcome to players. Just because devs have stated that they favor specific candidates doesn’t mean they are trying to get players to vote along with them. And so what if they are? The last time I checked, they play and care about this game just as much as us (if not more so since it’s their creation). They can’t vote or campaign along with the rest of us?
If your preferred candidate doesn’t win, are we going to be having threads about recounts, voter fraud, and so on? I really think people are taking this way too seriously. Support who appeals to you more and just have fun with it. The gem store will make ArenaNet money regardless of who wins. Enough with the conspiracy theories.
Given the system, it doesn’t seem like the Support Tokens would be easily tracked, but completion of the achievements would…
You put the token into a virtual box that says Kiel or one that says Gnashblade. I’m failing to see how that would be hard to track.
Depends on how it’s set up, baka. They’d need to track how many times a specific action is performed, when such an act is not tracked in anywhere else in the game. Can be done, or they could be using a pre-existing method to do it…
Given how ArenaNet has a tendency to cut corners when they don’t need to be precise, which do you think?
‘Sides, unlike reality, there’s no box to retrieve tokens from. It’s just an NPC dialogue, and everywhere else in the game, those things reset in no more than 10 minutes.
Trust me, pretty much every action is logged already. Checking how many times people have interacted (successfully) with each of the boxes is trivial. It’s no more difficult than checking how many people have completed different achievements.
And even if it weren’t logged already, it would be no more difficult than adding a trigger when you successfully interact with it that says something like this:
add_vote_ellen(multiplier)
where the multiplier is 1 by default, and 2 if you have the buff to double it. It’s not a lot of work.Besides, they’d have to track the votes, considering that’s the stated metric by which a winner is decided, not how many of the achievements are completed. So the whole argument is moot.
Besides, incrementing a variable and logging an action are probably two of the first things programmers learn how to do, outside of Print “Hello World”. It’s used everywhere in GW2. Not sure why the question of whether they can track votes even comes up.

It’s stupidly easy to track votes. Incrementing a variable and storing the value in a database is something any competent programmer can do with their eyes closed (figure of speech — not saying ANet does this without actually looking…). We shouldn’t even need to worry about data loss. The amount of redundancy and backups in MMOs usually borders on “insanely paranoid.” In other words, there’s a kitten ton of it.
People bring up things like this because it’s yet another thing to complain about or because people don’t understand how programming works. It’s programming 101, though. The programmers for this game wouldn’t even be working at ArenaNet if they weren’t competent programmers. Game development jobs are incredibly competitive.
The idea of being unable to track any explicit action in the game is silly. If they weren’t able to track it, they wouldn’t have been able to make it an action in the first place.
As far as the actual thread goes though, I would say the fact that people can’t even agree at all on which side is being favored is proof that neither side is really being favored.
Video games are serious business.
How will either individual affect the living story in future… stories? What are the characteristic consequences of either losing/winning the council position? Will Evon try to weasel himself for Commodore if he wins? Will Kiel be like Kirk and regret taking a seat of higher position when she can make more of a difference out there? Does Evon have a shady past that will come back that will affect the safety of Lion’s Arch?
Once I’ve taken care of all my Kiel acievements, though, I’m going to put all my tickets in for Evon because I think he is a much more interesting candidate.
Kiel is not a very big deal. She has not actually done much, and she is a soldier, not a politician. She has no business being on the council, she should be lead by the council. She makes boring decisions about boring situations, in a grand scheme. Evon, on the other hand, is a pirate in control of the biggest company in Tyria. He makes critical decisions like he would need to on the council on a daily basis. Also, as a business man he will and able to be far more cut throat that Kiel ever will.
The person that gets onto the council will influence the direction of the Living Story for the next two or more years. Who do we want there, the goodie two shoes, white knight Kiel, or the more sinister, and far more interesting Gnashblade? I want Gnashblade. I’m tired of reactive stories dealing with things that just come up. I want to go out and do things and I think Evon is the key to that.
Best post in the thread. Evon is the one most qualified for the position by far. Kiel has no business being on a Council like this.
Its funny how before the announcement of the weapon skins people were complaining that it Gnashblade’s key discount was pointless and that Kiel’s bonus was so much better. So they try to do something to make the key discount more meaningful and now its “OMG they favor Evon to win its so unfair!”.
key discount = glorified rng. i want the abbadon fractal, but realistically? i’d prefer the wp cost savings much more. the skins? pft. most of them i hated anyway … but then, i’m not a skin collector, and MANY players are.
it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out.
[EDIT – added for proof of the glorified rng comment]

We will not make both fractals.
KITTENS!
Now I’m definetly voting heavily to Evon. I want to see how Abbaddon was defeated. Period.

In terms of making RL money, whom do you THINK ANet will support (i.e. make sure wins)?
If I was a conspiracy theory nut, I might think this entire content update was an intentional distraction to do nothing more than increase the sales BLC keys (and a brilliant one that seems to be working quite well).
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
I’m quite appalled really at how much blatant favor you (ArenaNet) is giving to Evon Gnashblade. You’re just giving players more and more reasons to vote for Evon rather than Kiel, which makes the voting process overly biased and unfair to those who’d rather vote for Kiel.
When you announced the fractals, I thought it was fine. Either way, the story and lore shown would be interesting to see even though we practically know all about the Fall of Abaddon. Sadly, many people don’t see beyond the tip of the iceberg in the game’s lore and think that there’s nothing behind the Thaumanova, even after looking dutifully because of how wide-spread-yet-hidden Thaumanova lore is. In turn this creates a favor to the fall of Abaddon in both expected “epicness” and lore gleaned. I mean, how often do you get to witness a god in Guild Wars 2? Thus far: never.
But now with these update notes, it’s just outright unfair.
- Black Lion Chest Keys are now a rare drop from the Black Lion Chest. Most key drops have been replaced by Black Lion Ticket Scraps. This guarantees progress toward a reward rather than a simple retry.
- Tickets and ticket scraps will continue to drop from the Black Lion Chest and can be used for select future weapon sets.
You practically guarantee that Evon wins with this. Not only do you have folks who would rather have a “tie to GW1” over “another asura blown up experiment” (a gross understatement of Thaumanova’s lore), but now you’re basically telling this to the playerbase:
“Vote for Evon, get lower BLC keys, so you can open more chests and get more weapon skins! And hey, we’ll toss in a fight with a god.”
And what does Kiel have? Reduced waypoint cost and the overly underestimated Thaumanova blow up.
Not to mention that folks are treating Kiel like another Kormir or Trahearne thanks to your (ArenaNet’s) over-glorifications of her achievements, while the cons to Evon are neatly being glossed over by everyone, ArenaNet and player alike.
I’m sorry ArenaNet, but your bias is showing. So much for the whole “they need the players’ help” bit. Something tells me this will be a landslide victory just because you’re favoring Evon far too much. Intentional or not.
I really hope you’re right!
kitten!? it’s just a stupid excuse so you’ll buy more keys for money. Anet are scumbags.
I noticed a log time ago that they reduced amount of bl keys drop, at the beginning of playing I’ve been receiving keys pretty oftens from mobs, they deleted gems reward from tournaments now they are reducing bl from chests pff.

“another asura blown up experiment” (a gross understatement of Thaumanova’s lore)
what do you know about it that I have missed? what actually happened there or what do you know happened that is more than “the inquest had an accident during there experiments?”
not that it matters I want to see gods fighting, not much can beat that.
It’s in Anet’s best interests if Evon wins. Keil’s lower wp costs would take away a needed gold sink, but Evon makes keys cheaper and people will spend mass amounts stock piling them.
*There are more people interested in epic rather than lore
I’m into epic lore… reliving a major part of GW’s history which includes gods fighting doesn’t get much better.
People are going to be so disappointed by the Abaddon Fractal. It’s inevitable with the insanely unrealistic expectations people have.
Makes me feel sorry for the team that will have to develop it…
I have exactly the same feeling about this : everything is done to favorise Evon. What the OP said first.
Then look at how it’s described :
- A WONDERFUL, AMAZING fractal with Abaddon and the 5 GODS !!! Woot, we might as well see the world decaying after his fall !
or
- Some fractal in a reactor with an explosion, maybe it could be good.
And about the mini games :
- Wonderful hunger games ! Have fun surviving/killing others !
against
- Some game boring when you need to pick crystal and use your brain
Not to forget most of the bags of support we get are from Evon …
With all this, absolutlely no doubt Evon will win. Not that it’s bad, both are cool in their way, but it’s bad because of the subtle bias in all this.
i’m still voting for Kiel
with a picture like this:how can you not vote for her
you need a girlfriend….
Actually with the twisted election system they have in place, Evon could just buy himself the victory. If it is only the amount of tokens that matter he can win without getting a single vote from all the heroes in the world. In fact, every purchase or listing on the Black Trading Company is several to many votes for Evon.
Come on, how disconnected from the world are the Zephyrites anyway?
“You must prove to me how many people love you, so I shall allow everyone to cast as many votes as they want and make the votes buy-able. Surely this is a fair system?”
Story-wise, Kiel is probably a poor little soldier while Evon is a rich fat cat. On top of that Kiel insists on returning any gold she finds to the “owners” who can then spend that gold on the trading channels and thus vote for Evon either way.
Helping Kiel out means voting on Evon in character!
Hm, chosing between battling a GOD – or an explosion caused by an asuran experiment. Choices, choices…
I haven’t looked into the lore behind the reactor, and I’m sure there’s something cool behind it… but it won’t beat awesome GW1 lore that involves a battle with one of the GODS.
Still, I go with Kiel, because I don’t trust charr and I don’t trust the Black Lion Company either.
Speculation on Fractal Possiblities
Thaumanova: Will be fun, interesting, funny and we will play a large role in what happens/ed. I can see the players being an integral part of this story and feeling either responsible or proud or something tied to the events of the reactor meltdown.
Abbadon: What sort of role can we possibly play in a battle amongst 6 gods?? Unless each party member gets transformed into one of the 5 gods, I can’t see us having a very important role in this epic battle. Players were outraged enough at the personal story being more about Trahearne & not us. Do you really want to be the one to pull a lever just in time…only to watch the 5 gods actually beat Abbadon back?
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
I like both fractals. But SS Survival is a lot more fun and as a character, i like Evon more than boring Kiel.
Couldn’t care less about keys tho. It’s still RNG and it hates me (and i hate it). Therefore i wont buy them.
The only thing that concerns me is that voting for Evon might send the wrong message to Anet, namely “I like RNG”.
btw: Evon is a charr and wears pants. If he wins, could he please provide us with more (light)-pants for charr? my charr necro is sick of skirts…

Don’t disagree that they have made some changes designed to put money in their pockets, but calling them “scumbags” because they are trying to make money (in a game where that is there ONLY source of income to keep the game going), is a very narrow minded and selfish view. You complaint seems to be directed at changes that no longer provide you with freebies and not any changes that REQUIRE you to spend RL money in continue playing.

There is another way to look at this. We could also take the roles of the God’s avatars, and actively take part in the battle.
Thaumanova could give us more Inquest and Golems to fight, and if that be the case, I think we have enough of those. I’d rather see something new, even if it revolves around old lore.
Either way I think they’ll do something interesting. But I’m biased against more Asura themed content.

The Thaumanova Reactor is:
- Stated in Mount Maelstrom (I think you have to be a Whispers member to see this) to be the precursor of the Infinite Coil Reactor, which houses the Crucible of Eternity at the center. E.g., Thaumanova was the first lab for experiments ran in a facility focused on the Elder Dragons.
- Utilized crystals from Iron Marches (Chaos Crystal Cavern).
- Has five rooms linked to different elements and one room without; these five elements, albeit one is extremely minor and counts to the water attunement of the Matrix Key, are fire, ice, vegetation/poison, water, and crystal. Respectively, there are direct or indirect hints to these being linked to Primordus, Jormag, Mordremoth, the DSD, and Kralkatorrik.
- The Inquest had a base underneath the reactor which failed – in a similar matter to the Crucible of Eternity further hinting at their real experiments there – which is rumored to have been caused by destroyers – again, a further hinting at their real experiments there.
- There’s a hint that the Champion Steam Ogre is something that was known to occur if the Matrix Key is used, which would mean that the Inquest may have obtained time travel abilities – aka, the Thaumanova Reactor could also be the cause of the steam creature invasion in Lornar’s Pass.
In short: everything that isn’t natural in the world has or could have some tie to Thaumanova. Some ties being more strenuous than others, but existent nonetheless.
Thaumanova could give us more Inquest and Golems to fight, and if that be the case, I think we have enough of those. I’d rather see something new, even if it revolves around old lore.
While there’s likely to be Inquest and golems in the Thaumanova Reactor, there’s also likely to be ED minions, steam creatures, chaos beasts (aka shades), and overall randomness due to the chaos magic effecting the Mists.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
While there’s likely to be Inquest and golems in the Thaumanova Reactor, there’s also likely to be ED minions, steam creatures, chaos beasts (aka shades), and overall randomness due to the chaos magic effecting the Mists.
None of which are new assets, all of which utterly flood the areas they’re currently relevant to (steam creatures mostly during events). Right now we’re just about guaranteed new assets with the Abaddon Fractal because some of the things involved in it are flat out not in the game already. The things required to make the Thaumanova reactor tick -are- already in the game and we haven’t been given any information to believe the reactor fractal will involve the creation of new assets (in both cases I am omitting a potential fractal boss specific to them as they would obviously be new in either case).
I’m not voting for any reason specifically, i just don’t like the idea of evon gnashblade turning the captain council into a business firm.
I’d much rather want a native lionguard to represent the captain council if any should do so.
Then again, i don’t really care for the rest nor should i feel influenced about anything else.
It’s pretty much certain Evon would win, but my vote would still go for ellen kiel.

Let’s assume both fractals show something utterly epic and new (Abaddon for FoA, a proto Elder Dragon of Chaos for TNR), but we fight none of those (Abaddon gets beaten by the Five, proto ED is destroyed with the overload of the reactor).
Then we get crazy randomness for TNR along with dragon minions. Yes, we’ve fought all those before. But what about FoA? What if the Forgotten are fighting out on the sea (or are actually wiped by then thanks to Abaddon’s answering of Jadoth’s prayer), and we assume the form of an Orrian elite squad racing to stop Abaddon’s High Priest(ess) in the Temple of the Six Gods? Then we get humans in new armor: scantily clad seafaring Margonites and some guys and gals in orichalcum armor and gossamer robes… with blinding flashes thundering above the clouds, coloring the skies to orange (Balth), lime green (Melandru), purple (Lyssa), blue (Dwayna), dark green (Grenth), and sanguine (Abaddon). At the end of the fractal we might get Abaddon plummetting towards the sea…
In that case we mostly get stuff that are already in the game for FoA as well.
Btw, IIRC, the Inquest lab was hidden beneath the part of the reactor we can explore in Metrica.

Look at past fractals. See how many “new assets” there are there?
Solid Oceanic Fractal. Everything had to be new. Jade sea crystallized. Kraken. Frozen Leviathan (Canthan version). Jade Sea wildlife. What do we get?
Green Wind Riders for Irukanji.
Green Icebrood Colossi and Green Ice Elementals for Jade Elementals.
Ice Wurm frozen in jade for Leviathans (not even underwater sea wurms, but Ice Wurms!)
And then a new model for Kraken and its tentacles.
Everything else? You get new assets for Colossus, new assets for Imbued Shaman, and new assets for golems in Uncategorized (later re-used in a guild puzzle). Nothing else new. Everything else reused.
If we get FoA, we’ll likely be getting a reskinned Colossus for Abaddon (or his statue animated and colored), reskinned krait, and probably reskinned Branded Humans.
Thaumanova may not have (many obvious) new assets, but do we really want to consider “new assets” for determining which fractal? Think about all the “new assets” in the living story thus far. My hopes don’t get up with such things.
It’d be great if they modeled Abaddon, the Forgotten, and Margonites from scratch… but I doubt it.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
The things required to make the Thaumanova reactor tick -are- already in the game and we haven’t been given any information to believe the reactor fractal will involve the creation of new assets (in both cases I am omitting a potential fractal boss specific to them as they would obviously be new in either case).
To be fair, though, we haven’t been given much information at all regarding the specific content of the fractals from the devs. All we really know is that the Fall of Abaddon fractal is the event that took place before GW1, that the Thaumanova Reactor is the explosion event that took place just prior to the start of GW2, and that these two fractals were the best two of the options the Living World team came up with when brainstorming possible fractals to make.
Everything else is based on other information, from lore or what other NPCs are saying in-game, and from player’s fantasies and suppositions. Some may end up being accurate, but nothing else is confirmed as far as the specific content of the fractals (not the event) AFAIK.
There is a bunch of people on both sides here at Anet, granted I have been pretty pro Evon!
I left WoW because of the favoritism of the Horde and the story was so Horde focused over the Alliance (unless you bought the books that tell a story that doesn’t even show up in the game). I really don’t wanna see the favoritism here. I’m voting Kiel!
You cannot be serious? In Vanilla, Crusade and Wrath the entire story and zone layout favored the allies. In Crusade the allies ended up saving the BLood Elves, in Wrath the Horde was like the annoying little brother that was allowed to hang out. It wasn’t until Cataclysm that things were evened out. Granted the horde ended up with the two greatest zones in the history of history (Hillsbrad and Silverpine). Pandaria seemed pretty even in the sense that the Horde finally gets a villain that is “theirs”…
Personally I’m voting for the human because I still hold a grudge against the Charr for that little Ascalon thing they did 200 years ago.
I’d offer the one responsible a carafe of balsamic vinaigrette dressing and some croutons.”

I’am sorry, smartkittens, but yes, i’ve read what both candidates say ingame and apparently made the wrong conclusion.
Theyre both saying: We’ll introduce Keg brawl, crab toss, sanctum sprint and southsun survival.
Kiel doesnt mention her own minigame at all; i thought that cant be right.
So i assumed, Anet just copypasted Gnashblades description but failed to replace ‘Southsun Survival’ with ‘Aspect Arena’.

But it would suck for the loser to never have the chance to see their fractal.
just my opinion, but this is the saddest thing i have seen a Dev write
Could a learned elder please enlighten me on how Evon is linked to the fall of Abbadon and how Kiel is linked to Thaumanova destruction? I am trying to find a reason as to why this was bundled into this ludicrous meta event.
Personally I think it’s clear that ANet has lost the plot. They have no idea where the lore is going. So what do they do? They come up with a scheme like this. You can have one but not both. Arrogance of ANet is showing. Not even trying to hide it anymore.

The tinfoil hat is large on this one.
It could be that expanding on the fractals is being necessitated by the fact that people reached the maximum floor ages ago and have had nothing to do there since except grind it for their daily rewards. The new content either way will be burned through equally fast, but at least it will be -new-.
Evon himself may not be directly linked to Abaddon, but the Charr race as a whole are very strongly connected. You’d think you would have picked up on that.
As to Kiel being linked to Thaumanova well she isn’t. But her best friend just might be.
So its the race that the lore is linked to. Not the candidate. So why then bundle a lore with a candidate. They are not representing their race in this event. They are representing themselves for a trade agreement. Yes I quite like my overly large sized tin foil hat.

which IS official info.
wiki is made by players.

I checked once again and there are no mention to Aspect arena just southsun survival.
but I don’t agree with copy-paste argument – evon is hosting this minigames and Ellen is scheduling them
I think itis the matter of zephyrites leaves – Aspect Arena is based on their crystals so after their leaving Kiel would have minimall acces to it – and southsun is were and will be still there
I talked to the candidates in game – no one are talking about this – kiel only sends You to Arena and evon on survival.
I also read Patch notes..
and hey there are also no info that choicing will have matter to the minigames….

Oh you know, it’s not like an ambitious person here or there ever develops other goals. Abaddon wasn’t exactly on bad terms with the Charr so it’s very understandable for the upper-echelon of their race to have an interest in that history. Evon just so happens to be the only Charr in a position to fund that kind of research, assuming he can get the backing for it from the Council by being elected. It is, after all, in the interest of ALL that we find out more about the Human gods, as they are one of the only powers known to rival the Elder Dragons. Finding out the exact manner in which they exiled one of their own (or just any sort of concrete details about their power during its height to help determine if they really left/got devoured by the Elder Dragons/what have you) would be pretty beneficial.
That’s just an example, of course. With an ACTUAL writer coming up with these things the way I just tied Evon to his own interest in Abaddon probably looks tenuous.
I honestly don’t know what the hell is going on with Kiel though. Evon said it best. She thinks she’s a Hurricane, and her lack of critical or quick thinking is like to lead the world toward more explosions. So I guess Thaumanova being the site of a gigantic explosion is thematically consistent with Kiel’s history of explosive failure.
Isn’t it obvious though? BL chest “sale” = more gem$$$.
I’m also voting for Kiel out of spite.
I don’t think this voting is fair to start with when they allow a player to cast more than one vote. It’s always the players with a lot of time to grind for tokens who will affect the outcome.
I know its been said before but, for me, that Abaddon fractal is a huge vote breaker, and I also see Black Lion Keys as a potentially more attractive thing to discount (even tho personally i’m not too much into the boxes). So how should i vote? That Charr who’s taking 15% of my trading post profits and will probably start to sell entry tickets to LA a few months after he’s a member of the council, just because he had the right idea about an epic fractal that could finally shed some light into the story of an outcast god? Or should i vote for that Lionguard woman who obviously works in the best interest of Lion’s Arch, even tho she needs adventurers to do what she can’t?
Obviously, if i respect the living world as a world i spend time in, Kiel would be the way to go, simply because she’s proven to be one of the good guys, or in her case gals.
If i look at what the candidates have to offer, tho, Evon’s fractal far outshines that reactor explosion and the players who play a lot will more likely want to take advantage of cheaper BL boxes.
So, the casual player inside me who plays the game for the stories it tells and for the world it represents would definitely vote Ellen. That part of me that plays fractals and wants shinies even tho i might have to farm for them is biased towads Gnashblades’ promises.
All in all it seems to me, that Ellen Kiel is is the candidate more likely to appeal to casual players who like the world they play in, while Evon Gnashblade is for those who spend a lot of time in the game to get shinies for themselves, without caring much for ingame politics.
Well, lets see which side can buy more votes…
Wish the fractals werent tied to candidates the way they are

And about the mini games :
- Wonderful hunger games ! Have fun surviving/killing others !
against
- Some game boring when you need to pick crystal and use your brainBut SS Survival is a lot more fun and as a character, i like Evon more than boring Kiel.
despite of the winner BOTH minigames will be introduced as permanent content – guys did You REALLY read promises on the release page?
…or read the patch notes…
…or talk to the candidates in-game…
Wait, let’s get something out of the way…did anyone read anything related to this election or is everyone going off of only what’s been told to them by others?

Go check out the info here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cutthroat_Politics#Captain.27s_Council_Election
I’mrellying in what i’ve read on this page:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/july-23-2013/
which IS official info.
wiki is made by players.
and…
I checked once again and there are no mention to Aspect arena just southsun survival.
but I don’t agree with copy-paste argument – evon is hosting this minigames and Ellen is scheduling them
I think itis the matter of zephyrites leaves – Aspect Arena is based on their crystals so after their leaving Kiel would have minimall acces to it – and southsun is were and will be still thereI talked to the candidates in game – no one are talking about this – kiel only sends You to Arena and evon on survival.
I also read Patch notes..
and hey there are also no info that choicing will have matter to the minigames….
In-game, the candidates say this if you choose the option in their dialogue that doesn’t send you to their activity:
Gnashblade: …And lastly, I’ll sponsor a weekly rotation of Southsun Survival, Sanctum Sprint, Keg Brawl, and Crab Toss games to keep things exciting.
Kiel: …Finally, I’ll establish a weekly rotation of Southsun Survival, Sanctum Sprint, Keg Brawl, and Crab Toss.
And what is put on the wiki is the information that we get from the official sources and dev quotes. Just because it’s player made doesn’t mean it isn’t accurate. Popular info has a lot more eyes on it to catch mistakes.

Aspect Arena is so much fun that you have to vote for Ellen Kiel. Go Team Kiel!
The Knights Temple [TKT] — Aurora Glade
Its funny how before the announcement of the weapon skins people were complaining that it Gnashblade’s key discount was pointless and that Kiel’s bonus was so much better. So they try to do something to make the key discount more meaningful and now its “OMG they favor Evon to win its so unfair!”.
They’ve written Kiel as the good guy and Evon as the bad guy. That’s all they needed to do to appeal the majority of players to vote for Kiel (in addition to her being a known character while Evon was just introduced). Evon winning is going to rely on a passionate minority because Kiel was given the majority simply because of how the two characters were written. The good guy archetype appeals to the lowest common denominator.
