I was going to vote for Kiel, but then someone made this picture for the other thread.
Also the other thread has a hashtag for a title.
Vote for Evon.
I haven’t seen anyone consider this; maybe in the Abaddon Fractal we don’t fight AGAINST Abaddon but WITH him, so we’d be fighting the five gods.
#TeamGnashblade , hang the traitors!
Even if we didn’t get the chance to see the Six Gods in person, I would still vote for Evon Gnashblade, for simple reason. Ellen Kiel is dangerously close to attaining the Mary Sue status and becoming the next Trahearne.

Gnashblade is a better choice. Do you really want a cop(Ellen Kiel) negotiating a trade agreement?

Is there any way we could organize a bunch of people to coherently work towards his votes?
FOR GNASHBLADEEEEEEEEEe
Akaigi | Warrior Made of Wood
[CDS] – Sanctum of Rall
Since mr. E(von Gnashblade) is the one that can get Marjory Delaqua back and actually did something for LA (get us involved) he has my vote.
Plus he will definitely cause more interesting living stories…
Seen this theory, considered it, discarded it. Marjory would surely have recognised if the magnate of the Black Lion Trading Company was the one who accosted her, and if the accost-er was a charr at all, then I’d expect that to be mentioned in Marjory’s Story.
It’s vaguely possible that the person who identified himself as Mr. E is an agent acting on behalf of Evon, but if we’re basing our logic on the possibility of her assailant being an agent rather than the actual Mr. E, than the actual Mr. E could be anyone. Especially when we consider that the name is a pretty obvious pun on ‘mystery’, and thus we can’t assume that “Mr E” has an E in his name, or even (in the agent scenario) that “Mr E” is male at all.

Vote for Evon!
I vote charr because charr.
Seriously, though…Kiel has proven herself nothing if not incompetent. She supported slavery in Southsun and let the entire island get out of hand to the point where it threatened both the business interests there and the lives of everyone on the island. Then she allowed the charr ambassador and a member of the Captain’s Counsel get assassinated…which means she can run for the position of the man she let get assassinated. She couldn’t make that look more like she arranged for this to happen if she tried, but she’s so inept I have a hard time believing it.
Gnashblade is a competent and savvy businessman, which is definitely needed on the Captain’s Council. Hands down, I’ll vote for Evon.
CHARRRRR!
From another thread and it’s missing some of the finer details about how many bad decisions Kiel has actually made, but I think we can all agree with this.
Once I’ve taken care of all my Kiel acievements, though, I’m going to put all my tickets in for Evon because I think he is a much more interesting candidate.
Kiel is not a very big deal. She has not actually done much, and she is a soldier, not a politician. She has no business being on the council, she should be lead by the council. She makes boring decisions about boring situations, in a grand scheme. Evon, on the other hand, is a pirate in control of the biggest company in Tyria. He makes critical decisions like he would need to on the council on a daily basis. Also, as a business man he will and able to be far more cut throat that Kiel ever will.
The person that gets onto the council will influence the direction of the Living Story for the next two or more years. Who do we want there, the goodie two shoes, white knight Kiel, or the more sinister, and far more interesting Gnashblade? I want Gnashblade. I’m tired of reactive stories dealing with things that just come up. I want to go out and do things and I think Evon is the key to that.
You know Evon is just a gangsta… and he wants his corners.
Between the 2, Fall of Abadon and the reactor blow up, the former should be harder to make.
Therefore shouldn’t we give the Abadon team more time than just 5 months?
“Save the best for last”. Reactor first then Abadon is the way to go.
I would not mind waiting to have the Fall of Abadon polished and not rushed.
Which is why we should vote for Kiel.

There’s an ANET post in a non-sticky topic titled something like “QQ ANET’s favorite is Evon” explicitly stating only one of the two will be made. Therefor I vote for the one that is interesting and guaranteed to bring new assets into the game in its creation.
EDIT: Found it
We will not make both fractals.
Evon!!!
Clearly the only viable candidate, I hear Kiel is responsible for all nerfs, I mean shes a greatsword wielding warrior… Need I say more?
While Evon is responsible for all buffs in the game, I mean more buffs = more farming = more trading post taxes.
The choice is clear…. Evon

voting for Evon now sorry Kiel
Funny, when I saw Kiel fight, I’m pretty sure she was using guardian greatsword skills, not warrior…

Evon is a Charr. That’s enough not to trust him right there.
Wake up, people! Why’s a charr showing interest in research on a human god? And more importantly, why doesn’t he want us to know what happened at Thaumanova?

Are you joking? Read Edge of Destiny and find out for yourself what Logan did to Rytlock.
If anything Charrs do not trust anyone but their fellow warband unless their trust is earned and at which point, once a charr trusts you (which means he trusts you with his life), you better not let him down. Humans are deceitful and blinded by various things. Charrs stands true.
So Living stories only focus around Evon and LA.
Ellen Kiel has a airship! So you will see her in more places than LA.
Flame Legion vibe? If that is true….
I’ll vote Evon even harder. Don’t you see the great potential a Flame charr in world politics has?

Or you could help the good ole folks at the consortium by selling from there, but who only knows what might happen to your goods in there auction house

Never really wheeled and dealed in the old days of GW1. I hoareded everything I collected, which killed my storage with Xunlai.
Now I can admit I bought something, can’t remember for the life of me what it was, but back then I had friends who I simply messaged and got my needs filled.
Still even if those methods were “Neolithic” you still didn’t have to worry about taxes. If your prices were fair, you profit, if not then adjust your tactics.

Is it a coincidence that Kiel is running for the seat of the Captain Counselor she let be assassinated? Either she’s incompetent or evil.
Gnashblade is a cunning businessman that can realpolitik his way through the Captain’s Counsel. He’s by far the superior candidate.
Who doesn’t want a mini-dungeon in Fractals of the Fall of Abaddon?!!
I really hope Evon wins!

I can’t agree I more, I mean Gnashblade could buy the vote at any time but he doesn’t because he has integrity unlike that incompetent wannabe caption who lets face it killed the old counselor member for her own gain and covered up her own blunder by finding the nearest pirate and blaming it on her.

Are you saying it’s untrue that Evon is flat out more qualified for the position? Is it untrue that Kiel could have prevented the death of the Captain she’s standing in for if she weren’t incompetent?
Regardless of Evon’s motives, he has proven he can help an organization succeed. All Kiel has proven is that she is incapable in a leadership position.

I don’t know where you’ve been, but here in Tyria Captain Ellen Kiel has proved countless times she’s a very capable, competent leader and a shrewd person. Captain Ashford’s death is not her fault; the bomb was Inquest technology and came from a source nobody was expecting. Also without the heavy bribing of the racial representatives it might have never happened.
Addendum: if you vote for Evon, you support bribery which may result in more assassinations similar to the tragedy at Dragon Bash. If you vote for Ellen, you vote for the suppression of corruption.

This line alone is reason enough!
I don’t know where you’ve been, but here in Tyria Captain Ellen Kiel has proved countless times she’s a very capable, competent leader and a shrewd person.
This is the funniest joke I’ve ver seen in my life.
Ellen Kiel has never done anything on her own. She relies on thousands of adventurers to do her dirty work for her, she fakes death the moment she realizes she might be in potential danger, and then walks in and claims credit for it all. That’s not the sign of competence OR capability. That’s the sign of a cowardly glory hog. And to add to all of that, she doesn’t even reward these adventurers. So she’s a selfish, cowardly glory hog.
Hell, Evon Gnashblade provides people with free silvers. Which is literally more than Kiel has ever given any of the adventurers who actually saved the day. I am siding with the guy who gives you reward over the credit thief who refuses to even admit the possibility that she didn’t depend on thousands of adventurers.
Evon’s proven he can successfully run an organization that serves his own ends, and his own ends alone. He has no morals and even betrayed the High Legions when he darted from service – I bet he’s an honorless gladium.
Whether he’s honorless by Charr label, or whether this seat on the Council will serve his own ends or not, he wouldn’t be running for the position if he didn’t intend to make it succeed. If that success also serves him, so be it. I don’t see Kiel offering anything of value because she is not qualified for high-octane decision-making or critical thinking.
I don’t know where you’ve been, but here in Tyria Captain Ellen Kiel has proved countless times she’s a very capable, competent leader and a shrewd person. Captain Ashford’s death is not her fault; the bomb was Inquest technology and came from a source nobody was expecting. Granted, I was sort of just Kittening around on the Lion’s Arch beaches taking the occasional dive now and then for the last few months, but you’ll still have to give me examples of her being capable and shrewd. Southsun getting out of hand is in part directly due to her input and incompetence. I’ve seen Kiel praised as an investigator but if that were true, even accounting for an unexpected source, lives could have been saved even if the explosion couldn’t have been avoided. She is a soldier, and as such has displayed that her own ability to think critically is lacking under pressure without an order to follow. And this is to say nothing of what the poster above me points out – even in the best of circumstances she is utterly useless without others either supporting or doing her job for her.
Evon was just doing business as usual and is no more connected to it than either of us are for trading items through Black Lion.
Addendum: if you vote for Evon, you support bribery which may result in more assassinations similar to the tragedy at Dragon Bash. If you vote for Ellen, you vote for the suppression of corruption.
As I have no examples of Kiel being capable as a leader, I cannot believe she has the ability or backing behind her to actually follow through unless someone conveniently arranged for the Captain’s death to put Kiel – an incompetent on her own but passable at following orders who needs someone to support her – into a position for participate in this election. In which case voting for Kiel is not supporting her or her promises, but the entity convincing her she should be elected.
Evon’s practices are on the table, open for scrutiny. By voting him in we also gain more control over what he does, as he is not being voted into a private Corporation nor a Dictatorship. If we vote Kiel in, we basically grant her the opposite, in that we have less control over what she might do and if there is indeed an entity backing her it will give that entity agency to act on whatever its goals through Kiel might be.

sigh This again?
Why can’t you guys understand there’s no glory hogging lorewise? You don’t want your non-existant credit stolen? Fine! ANet cuts half the content, and you only read about a nameless, brave citizen of Lion’s Arch or a group of volunteers fighting shoulder to shoulder with Captain Kiel. That’s the price we all pay to witness the content… and to revel in the (sometimes outrageously pathetic) rewards. Trust me, I don’t like it at all, as I think ANet could handle it much, much better, but still… it’s an MMO. Our characters are unfortunately no Dragonborn, Wardens, or Shepards. In-game, they are random two-goody-shoes dudes or dudettes with the wits of a lone skritt… that’s the writers’ fault, however. Fortunately, we have RP and fan-fiction to get over that.
As to what Captain Ellen Kiel did:
- She conducted a successful investigation into the reason behind the karka invasion and means to combat the giant crabs by directing helpful, concerned volunteers while she worked her hot butt off in LA.
- She mounted a successful retaliation against the karka and their ancient kin, leading a contingent of Lionsguard and some helpful, concerned volunteers to victory.
- Working with her asura researcher friend they managed to find out who was behind the increased aggression of Southsun Cove’s wildlife. She found Canach’s helpers among the settlers, and then with some concerned settlers and an unnamed hero/heroine managed to apprehend Canach.
- She freed the nigh enslaved settlers with cunning and shrewdness.
- She defended the citizen’s of Lion’s Arch during a snide terrorist attack and saved the lives of two captains who were not mortally wounded in the explosion. Her unnamed friend from Southsun Cove joined her as they fought back to back on the streets of Lion’s Arch.
- During the Aetherblade invasion she led a successful sortie of concerned, altruistic volunteers against Mai Trin and her crew. Together, they dismantled the main threat to LA. (And before you bring up the steam vent jumping stuff: NPCs can’t jump, and that was gameplay again.)
Evon Gnashblade got his fat, immoral, hairy backside fatter by taxing us all.
Abbadon deserves a long story, not just a fractal.
