So I played the latest story on my Warrior and I didn’t get the gloves you are supposed to get completing the story mission. I completed it on my thief and got it but not on my Warrior? With all the bug patches the latest day I thought you had fixed it.

ArenaNet said they don’t want us to grind and now they force us to grind if we want the new armor set for all three armor types. I think that sucks major balls.

I don’t think they ever said that they didn’t want there to be a grind in the game, but that GW2 is supposed to be less of a grind than what is in other games. If there wasn’t a grind in the game everyone would have every Legendary out there.

GW2 is supposed to be for the casual player and I think that the way Episode 5 was done reflected that. I could log in for an hour a day and get the Luminescent skin in a few days, and go on with what I would rather be doing in the game. But now, I have to use that time that I would rather be doing something else in the game to grind the kitten out of SW for crests to buy the other pieces.

Please ANet go back to the reward system of Episode 5 and don’t continue with how Episode 6’s was done.

No, that’s just to get more carapace skins for the gloves, you still have to do all the achievements in the story to get the luminescent skin.

Or you could keep opening up Bandit Chests and hope you get a lucky drop, or keep killing the Legendary Mordrem and hope you get a lucky drop from those.

I can tell you now, that if i end up farming 2k crests for gloves, and 8k crests for remaining armor pieces (which is a strong possibility now), once i do that i will never return to silverwastes again. Because i won’t be able to even look at that place. I may end up taking a break from the game as well.
Also, if they need to use cheap tricks like that to keep people in the zone… well, why didn’t they design the zone itself to be interesting enough for people to return to?
Besides, if they want people to keep coming back, they need something that can be repeated infinitely and will draw in crowds. Like a new world boss (and not of a Three-headed wurm difficulty).

I think people would participate on the events in this map, if we can loot on mobs in place of have some crappy reward (5 crest and an handfull of sand yeah!!!).

The only mobs which loot is the mobs that are not in event, ie 2 mobs..

no need to force people to grind, just add some loot in the game…

Unlikely. Remember, that the most mobs show up at an upscaled defence event. For which you need to succesfully take the keep, and continue to keep it. Failure to defend means needing to retake the keep, and longer time before the next defend event shows up.

I think we will get a new world boss event. It wouldn’t be fair to Mordremoth if one of his champions wasn’t spotlighted as a world event.

I think several mistakes were made in the Silverwastes design.

First off, there are a LOT of people who like to do stuff solo or in small groups. Ending up in a zone where succeeding means depending on a lot of other people doing THEIR part can then be a very frustrating experience. Think of Indigo for example. People who know the fight keep trying to tell the zerg how to succeed in fighting the twin bosses. And people just keep on ignoring them or even plain trolling, making the event fail. And please, don’t even try telling me taxying solves all woes…

Second, it’s very high-paced, too high in my opinion. You can’t even go for a bio break without missing things that you were waiting to achieve, so you have to start the whole rat race over again. Which can be fine if you have all day, but quite a few players simply don’t have that much available play time. Making this yet another frustration factor.

Third… I’m getting really tired of getting yet more stuff that can only go in your inventory or bank while we have a perfectly good currency tab that could alleviate at least some of the space hogging badges, geodes and whatever ANet decides to introduce next.

Fourth, the zone is not viable in the long term. There is not enough variation in activities and it’s frankly tiny.

People sometimes point at Orr, but frankly, I think Orr is a lot more entertaining and a LOT less dependent on the whole zone getting things right.

It’ll still be dead a week after release, farming 2k crests hardly takes that long: two days of casually doing SW will get you 1k crests, so you’re only going to be there for four days at most.

Not sure where you got your math, but if you have managed to farm 10k crests in 6 hours, then know that most people do not even come close to that rate.

I got carapace glove #1 from the story, #2 from the PvP reward track and #3 from bandit crests (many of which I also got from the PvP reward track). Also, in a full SW map, those bandit crests accumulate like crazy – as long as you leave your fort once in a while to help a pact bull escort or kill a vet or take part in the collections events. And every single time the labyrinth opens after the five bosses, several players report glove box drops from the big nightmare chest (and sometimes in open world, too).

Honestly, this is not nearly as grindy as some people make it out to be. You CAN spend 2000 crests if you want them, like, RIGHT NOW, but you can also get them through other ways of playing the game.

Accumulating geodes in Dry Top for recipes (and getting all the fossils) is much, much harder and more frustrating.

It is a grind, but it goes really fast, I already have 6-7 stacks stowed away just from casually doing SW for 1-2h per day and focusing on finding maps with breach almost active. I will keep on stacking up on crests until I have enough for all armor pieces, and when all are out I will buy what I still need; hopefully, by then I will at least have a few of them from drops. And the rest I will spend on the loot bags available for 10 crests/each, unless they add more worthwhile rewards for them.
