Lingering elements

IMO fire attunement should let me cast water spells, so this needs fixing.
Or maybe without this trait we can only use one attunement now and can only swap out of combat… foreshadowing for the next nerf…

I think you may want to fix the tooltip before I die from laughter
Assuming they did, can i stack all those 10%s off attunement boost for a superspike?
Of course not! That would be working as described
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
this made me giggle too :p
Yes its laughable and are just highlighting how little effort they put into testing elementalists.
Guys it works correctly! Only after this patch I’ve totally understand this trait!
You can see a small icon that is blinking under your boons icons when you switch the attunements! And yes it is 5 seconds! This means that we get +10% bonuses from one attunement being in another!

Nope

Ah… Yes it blinks but we don’t get any bonuses) sorry mistaken

That’s how it should work …
That’s bugged … for 1years …
…
It does the job well :-)
So Arena Net please fix your 1 year bug with this trait!
Oh I thought it was only me who misunderstood the true meaning of this mandatory trait :/
Well, I’ve been playing 10 arcane for a while now. Until Arcane 15 is fixed.

The only way to avoid taking 100% useless major/minor traits would be going up to 30 in earth/water, up to 10 in arcana, and potentially 30 in fire although those are very . The 5-pt minor in air is a 100% waste, and almost all fire-traits are not very good (although the minor is pretty good in a condi-spec, which is sub-optimal).
One with Air should be Air 5 minor trait.
Nerfentalist of Augury Rock
in a minor trait it could be an ok buff, in a FA build. Like now its on my “dont bother using that trait” list like many others
So Arena Net please fix your 1 year bug with this trait!
Woah! Hold on there! That’s asking for way too much.

They fixed it. Now you can cast fire/water/air/earth spell for 5 sec when attuned to fire/water/air/earth.

There is a post on Lingering Elements by Shadowfax in the bug sub-forum, we should all go there and support his thread.
Let’s just hope they do not butcher the potential of this trait when they finally fix it. It could be such a cool trait! Please Anet I beg you, in the name of all the gems I have bought since release and in the name of all the gems I won’t buy until you fix Lingering Elements, please give this trait the awesomeness it should have always had!!

Like your style of how you discovered 5 bugs
Sure the theme is here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Lingering-Elements-trait-bug-since-release
I am pretty sure I can find more bugs, just you wait!
Retired elementalist theorycrafter
You have no idea how disappointed I was that I couldn’t swap from water to air and get the +20% bonus damage to vulnerable foes on my lightning blasts.
Had to settle for starting the lightning channel (scepter 1), swapping to water to get the bonus for the tics, get the crit, and immediately swap back to air for the strike.

GW2: it’s like DAoC, but for the WoW crowd.
I don´t really get this.
It´s very clearly bug/wrong description.
That has been there from day 1.
That has had multiple threads about it, including the stickied bug threads atleast in 2 of it´s incarnations.
So if arenanet really does read the forums, they will for sure have seen it, but have decided for over a year now not to take any action.
Or arenanet blatantly lies everytime they claim to pay attention to forums.

Necroing this thread due to an unexpected turn in the story of Lingering Elements.
There is something I need to get out of my chest:
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHrglbl..
Ok now I really died from laughter.

Hey guys!
Take a look at the page for the Dec 10 patch:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/december-10-2013/#events
It’s funny how the used the word “lingering” with “poison”
Hey maybe this lingering thing won’t be broken! Room for hope!

Yeah, it’s not working.
I thought that the bonuses should linger are the Fire (20% chance to burn melee foes), Air (10% MS), Earth (80 Armor), Water (Soothing Mist), but only the Water one refresh after you leave that attunement.
Fire i couldn’t test, and Air i didn’t notice any difference. Earth adds 80 armor when attuned, but you lose this after switch attunement.

It never worked since pre-release although we have been as vocal as possible about it.

You could probably test fire in pvp with a friend. Just have him use a steady weapon and no offensive stats along with rapid attacks.

Fire has been tested and it works….even during just testing it against mobs the hardest part was actualy make it go off without dying.

the hardest part was actualy make it go off without dying.
Is it sad that I find this an accurate summation of our entire class?
With two (or more) cooldowns behind everything we do, every time I switch attunements I find myself asking ‘Is the stuff I’m leaving behind going to be available again when I need it?‘, and the answer is almost always ’No’.

How it was supposed to work(or i would like to): Lingering elements, getting out of an attunement, gives you a 5 sec window to get back to that attunement before going into cooldown.
