NEW Elementalist bugs and glitches thread
New bugs introduced with Oct.1:
Lightning Surge doesn’t display “Out of Range!” when out of range.
When cast on a foe behind you, Flame Burst goes on full recharge instead of failing.
:( I was hoping for more ele love … and not more bugs introduced >_< However I assume Flame Burst is intentional behavior, unless you’re saying it should give a “No line of sight” error.
@Spoon: I think I need to sit down and do some heavy duty testing of Glyph of Renewal. The few times I’ve tried to use it in combat have just left me scratching my head.

No problem, you did most of the early legwork and got the ball rolling! You seemed pretty done with the class so I didn’t want to just keep hoping you’d come back and leave the bugs list piling up.

This one is already listed under bugged traits.

This hasn’t been my experience, I’ll do more testing. Are you sure it’s not just missing its particle effect (like it is for me)?
Also, will be going out of town for a couple of days. So if I don’t update during that time, don’t panic, I haven’t abandoned the thread! heh.
EDIT: I was actually able to see Whirlpool last night, is this improved for everyone or are some of you still invisible?

I find that Whirlpool comes and goes. Sometimes the animation cuts out halfway through its duration, sometimes it’s never there, sometimes it’s fine.
I haven’t especially noticed a correlation with other skills being activated either, and since reading about that, I have tried using it without those skills, and it seems buggy then too. I haven’t done as much underwater stuff today though, so can’t say with total accuracy.
I don’t know about you guys, but Glyph of Renewal air attuntement never works for me. Not when I’m 100 meters away from them and not when I’m 1200 meters away from them. The skill will do its casting animation, nothing will happen and it will then enter its kitten long cooldown.
This skill also has the annoying habbit of ressing whoever is closest (I had a dead player targeted but instead the skill resurrected a dead npc that was slightly closer.)
Also, fire resses the target at full health. Making the water version redundant (because the fire version also gives you that extra boon)Additionally, it would be very nice if the skill would prompt you that there are no targets in range to rez instead of casting and going on cooldown because you were too far away from the target.

Air Attunement Switching — Function bug
Switching to Air is considered an attack, when you switch it can start to auto attack a nearby target. This does NOT require Electric Discharge.
I find this same thing happens when combining Arcane Wave with Static Field in Air Attunement. I do this for the area quickness buff, but if this causes me to attack something, it ends up just slowing me down until I drop combat.
Fire Grab — the offhand dagger 5 skill
I’m not sure if the cone is extremely small, but it does not like to hit when you are turning to face the opponent moving around you. It also does not hit if the opponent is too close to you (ie. almost colliding with you).
last night I noticed that fire grab doesn’t work across the z axis. while fighting on a hill and the player standing within range but just slightly above me on the hill I triggered the skill and… nothing. No damage, no block, no miss, no evade, no nothing. The target was standing still mind you.

I’ve also noticed that depending on the targeting options you have selected/deselected you can get a wide variety of bugs with RTL. None of which will stop you from hanging like a pinata when trying to a hit a moving target.

I’ve found that since the new patch, mist form and lightning flash aren’t breaking stun.
I can transform or teleport to the location, but I can’t move, i’m stuck until the stun is gone.

Does Shocking Aura not affect players that are using shortbows? dueled a thief today that never got stunned from my shocking aura even after popping it a few times in melee range. kittening stupid
Scepter skill ‘Phoenix’ is only giving 5 seconds of Vigor with 30 points in arcana, instead of the 13s it should be giving.

Hi all,
just found another bug.
Mist Form has fixed 75 second cooldown despite of 20% cooldown reduction via Watter Magic trait Cantrip Mastery. Tooltip is updated correctly to 60 seconds but actual cooldown is still 75 seconds.
Can anyone confirm my finding?

Sigil of Battle: I have 2x+20% might and 1x+15% boon duration runes + 20 points in arcana: So might should last 75% more, that is 35 seconds. It only lasts for 25 seconds…I lose 50% duration somewhere (same with plenty of other boons I think). So idk what doesn’t work, cba to test since I only use ele in WvW now, cute little broken bugger that it is.
And idk how the hell game comes to 25 seconds from 20 either…that’s 25% increase which nothing from my bonuses can add up to…

Rainshine I’m quite sure, it happened to me more than once. For example, during sieges where i was full hp i saw no healing on team mates nor removal of non-damage conditions on myself (ex. chilling, cripple and such). Also, a friend of mine playing a guardian told me he’s dodge heal won’t proc too if he’s full hp, so i guess it could be a general bug of this mechanic and not directly linked to our class/trait. Anyway I’ll do more testing to confirm it.
EDIT: that’s strange, after some testing with the bots in pvp lobby it seems it works fine. Looks like it’s not bugged!

Minor visual bug: when wearing a backpack, if you use ride the lightning the backpack doesn’t disappear, resulting in a charging lightning with a backback on its back xD

this might have been mentioned already but Churning Earth is going on full CD if interrupted rather than the 3 sec CD it should have.
Since the last patch as well I’ve noticed that the CE animation will start and the bar will proceed to build up as usual, but then nothing happens. The skill is still pulsing without a CD timer like it’s activated but nothing happens. The skill can still be used but it’s a rather timely ordeal to try and pull off one time without getting gibbed let alone trying to pull it off twice in a row.

when using tornado with signet of restoration you dont get any health regen from any of your attacks BUT if you have signet of restoration on cooldown with the trait written in stone you can get the health regen from the signet
when using both the Geomancer’s Alacrity (Earth trait 10; Earth cooldowns -20%) and Blasting Staff (Arcana trait 8; Area attacks with staff are larger) traits at the same time, Eruption (Earth Staff skill 2) loses the -20% cooldown effect from Geomancer’s Alacrity.
Shocking Aura seems unreliable. I’ll use it in a PvP match and won’t get any animation, no stuns go off despite being attacked, and it goes on a regular cooldown. Not sure if I’m just missing something, though.
Conjure Fiery Greatsword’s “Fiery Rush” skill does not create any fire field if you use it from less than ~250 range from the target.
@animosity As far as i saw Shocking Aura is working, i use it a lot. It won’t show any animation most of the times, but it definately stuns nearby enemies attacking.

Just to add more to the Arcane Power bug.
It does give 5 crits for some abilities. It seems fireball is bugged and uses more charges. For example, using Lava Font I will get 4 ticks of crits and still have 1 charge left. Other abilities have strange behaviors as well.
Here is one for you:
Blasting Staff breaks Persisting Flames.
It raises the duration tooltip on lava font to 6 seconds, but it only persists for 4.
You can add “eruption” earth staff skill to the list when i cast it and dodge over it towards a enemy putting it behind me it doesnt explode just dissapears

looks a bit similar to my bug report 5 posts above yours. I think the Blasting Staff trait is cancelling out (some of?) the effects that the skills affected by Blasting Staff are getting from other traits.

are you sure you’re not dodging before the cast time finishes? This leaves a growing eruption that doesn’t burst but simply disappears when it’s at it’s maximum size. Possibly triggers the full cooldown too. Would be better if the Eruption graphics immediately disappear when you cancel the spell, not leaving a confusing, growing eruption that then refuses to burst.

It seems to me that Glyph of Renewal only works on downed players. It says “revive,” so at first I thought defeated players would be resurrected as well, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. I’ve heard that it resurrects dead NPCs though, I’m assuming it’s because NPCs don’t really get into a downed state.
I haven’t used the skill recently though, seeing as how it takes so long to cast and it didn’t even revive a downed player for me once. Instead it was casted, guildie was still downed, no red text saying why it didn’t work (like if he was out of range or something), and the skill went into its long cooldown. I mean, every time I’ve used it in water attunement, it doesn’t even revive players to full health! Maybe I’ll try again when I finally see something about it in the patch notes.
Anyways, I’m glad to see this updated Elementalist bugs thread. Keep it up, Rainshine!
@Chiaro not sure but ill do a couple of tests you might be right
“Lava front” – lasts 4 secs (4 tics to foe) instead of 6
“Burning retreat” – lasts 4 secs instead of 6
“Healing rain” – lasts 6 sec instead of 9

@gsqrd. Glyph of Renewal was “fixed” at some point and now revives DEAD, DOWNED players and DEAD npcs aswell. Sometimes failing depending on attn, distance and/or unknown circumstances.

But yeah, if that is true, I think I’ll check it out again.
Edit: I just tried it out in the Heart of the Mist and I wasn’t able to resurrect a dead player. I was close by, clear line of sight, and it still didn’t work. I guess I’ll keep trying though.

To be clear, this combo sometimes makes you autoattack? You are not hitting them with this combo? I don’t recall seeing this (I use this combo a lot) but I’ll keep an eye out tonight. Been in Orr so much lately that it seems like you can’t throw a cat without getting yanked by undead anyway.

You are definitely using this on stuns, not immobilizes (chain effect)?

I believe that’s intended, since it does have a slow attached to it.

Do you mean the condition is applied but does no damage, or you just get the “burning” combo field popup? Stoning has only a 20% chance to apply the combo, but you get the combo popup every time.

Salt Stone – function bug
Doesn’t add 5% damage to bleeding foes at all. I tested this quite a bit.

I didn´t really tested it intentionally, but I´m afraid that Osculim is right. This happens to me too (just didn´t figured the cause of this myself). Also even if I dodge before the cast bar finishes, the spell usually goes off correctly (except the case I dodge through it – I often use this dodging on slow attacking enemies, so they start the attack animation and I dodge through, leaving them in the Eruption but don´t get hit – that´s the moment where this bug occurs).
