Paragon (Build)
This build is AWESOME!!! thanks!
If only Warriors had half this trait power.

Oh and btw, how much did it cost to get all the gear?
Would Ascalonian be a substitute for soldier gear seeing it is power/toughness/vit
hey harbinger, been about 2 weeks, get that final ring to fill out your set? got “final” stats?
So, I’m pretty much finally done. Still missing one earring, but I’m not going to be getting that for awhile. So I’m just going to push this out. This has gone through a lot of changes. People are going to be like WTF, but in the end you’ll see reason behind the madness.
All the traits are the same, just a lot of gear changes. So lets begin.
Helm- Knight
Shoulders- Knight
Chest- Valkyrie
Gauntlets- Berserker
Leggings- Berserker
Boots- Soldier
Runes: x6 Divinity
Greatsword- Berserker w/Sigil of Life
Hammer- Berserker w/Sigil of Battle
Backpiece- Cavalier
Earrings- Full Berserker and Divinity(all stats)
Rings- Soldier and Cavalier
Amulet- Divinity(all stats)
For the ascend items. Offensive you want precision and defensive you want healing power.
Food:
Spicy Chocolate Cookie
Master Maintenance Oil
Utility:
Switch out Save Yourselves for Signet of Mercy.
So let me explain why I did all of this. You have dmg covered with +2.9k attack, 44% crit chance, and +90% crit dmg. You also have survivability covered with +2.9k armor and, almost 17k hp.
Yet something was missing and it took me awhile to see this. Healing power. This build will give you almost 1000 healing power to boot.
So this build has everything a guard needs.
I’ll leave two screenshots. One unbuffed and one fully buffed.
Also you don’t have to use Mercy. It’s more useful when you are building up your stacks, or want to try a different food. Without it you will be at 800 healing power, and the difference between 800 and 1000 isn’t huge. Skills I’d recommend though;
Signet of Bane/Judgment/Mercy
Save Yourselves
Contemplation of Purity
Judge’s Intervention
Smite Condition

Wow, that’s a LOT different in gear than when you first started. I’ve been telling a lot of people that Healing Power is actually a worthy stat for months, but no one ever listened. All the Zerker Elitest always scoffed at it.
I am a bit surprised you went down the 3k mark on both attack/armor.
Ya, Healing Power goes a long ways if you can get it high enough and if your build is right. I could get my 3k on attack/armor back, but I’d have to give up a lot of crit dmg/crit chance in the process.
Overall very happy with the build. Works great in any situation. Probably change out more of my trinkets for Divinity stats later down the road.

Hi,
First of all, i’d like to thank you for posting your build, The Paragon build. I was playing a tank build before that and was getting tired of it…
Now i’m using yours, and it’s a blast to use it, i’m taking pleasure again with my guardian.
Still i think there are some (big flaws ?) flaws in my actual build or stuff.
My gear is full soldier with 6 soldier’s runes.
Earrings = 2x Knight’s of Berserker
40 Power/ 40 prec / 56 Tough + 25 Pow / 3% CC / 15 Prec
Back is Soldier/Clerci
22 pow / 16 Tough / 16 Vit
Rings :
Cavalier Berserker
48 Pow / 67 Tough 3% CC
25 Pow / 3% CC / 15 Prec
Royal Signet of Doric
71 Pow / 50 Tough / 50 Vit
32 Pow / 18 Tough / 18 Vit
What do you think of it ?
What can i improve ?
Traits are : 0/5/30/30/5
Thanks for your help.
See you !
Seems like you are taking the more tanky approach went I look at it. (Nothing wrong with that)
x6 Soldiers and Pure of Voice is a bit overkill imo. You could take 10 out of Honor, and put it somewhere else to be more useful.
Your crit chance also seems to be low too. Don’t see that much prec, probably better off switching out some pieces for Knight or Zerker.
That’s what I’d do. It’s your build, and you should do what you think is best.
Here’s something I threw together real fast for you. Tried to keep most of your gear the same.

For the jewelry, which gems did you put in, apart from the ascended ones?
Backpiece- Cavalier
Earrings- Full Berserker and Divinity(all stats)
Rings- Soldier and Cavalier
Amulet- Divinity(all stats)
From your listing, it’s not apparent to me
Sorry about that. The only exotic I have is the Zerker earring w/Exquisite Ruby Jewel.
If you don’t have ascend, I’d say Exquisite Ruby Jewel is your best bet for your exotics.

doode, Harbinger, i have to say, i can tell a LOT of work went into this, and i must say… that i love yuor new stats spread compared to before. don’t get me wrong, that was awesome as well but you’ve got GREAT ground covered here. i too, try to stay above 3k 3k but in your case, yuo have high enough healing power, barely shrot of 1k, so lower armor i feel is alright, and your health is not SUPER high, but good to survive some conditions or burst if need be. and then the CRIT CHANCE AND DMG!!! moer than makes up for the slight drop in attack. and tbh, 2.9k vs 3k, with those crit ratings, it won’t matter much.
that is pretty darn awesome. : ))) so, well done good sir, well done.
you’ve set the bar higher and i shall try to revamp again ; )) heh. i have similar ratings for oen of my builds, cept if i want to bring up my healnig, i’m gonna have to revamp quite a bit too lol

First, great thread and i gotten some nice input by reading it, thx for taking the time to post so informative.
Not meaning to criticize here Harbringer but havent you gone a very long way for almost nothing here.
Those divinity accessories isnt the best choice imo.
Look at the stats (pic) below, i used signet of mercy on those and i get higher dps, thru higher power but lower crit damage and 1190 more health and the same armor. While you get 92 more heals per dodge roll. Which is minor when you add in food and sigil of life. Add in those and i will dodge roll for 1k and you will dodge roll for 1090, just as an example.
And i did like you did, left one earring as exotic and the rest are ascended so i achieve that with the exact same budget, ofc on a 0/5/30/30/5 with no food and no stacks from sigil of life.
I think if i had the time to swap things in my armory i would probably heal for 100-150 per dodge more than you do and the rest would be equal.
I swapped around and i can get almost the same stats (same dps/mitigation/etc) as you while having 15% boon duration and heal more at the same time.
1954 power
35% cc
76% cd
2917 armor
16675 hp
636 heal power
I can get more out of it if i fiddle around but you get the picture.
I think those divinity accessories was a mistake mate.
Or am i missing something here?
Edit added an other setup. My gear isnt suited for the low power you have so i have limited number of armor pieces and accessories to fiddle around with so none of the above is optimized.
This might sound like nitpicking but you would get more freedom of choice when picking food when you can reach 1k heal power by just getting 25 stacks and dont have to invest in heal power in your food.
(edited by Brutaly.6257)
I like nitpicking, it’s how you make the build better. Does need some more tweaking, but compared to when I first made this build. This is a huge improvement.
Main reason I like Divinity; I can change my build at anytime, and not worry about needing new gear. I still want to get full Divinity one day.
Spicy Chocolate Cookie is great imo. One, it’s cheap compared to a lot of other foods, and it also gives you +70 prec which you need with this build.
I’ll continue tweaking and switching things out. Like me using the Bane Signet is probably the best Signet for me.
Thanks for the input.

Personally, I don’t like having to rely on stat-stacks from sigils, too many opportunties for all that work to go down the toilet. I think of the stacks as more of a bonus rather than a dependency. That’s why the Divinity stuff is so nice. And as Harbinger said, you don’t have to worry about switching gears out.
I will say though that having complete Divinity gear doesn’t bring enough of the power stat, even with buffs to help make it up.
Well my point was that investing in divinity accessories is a waste since you loose stats on doing it since you dont need the all the stats in any given build.
Check the stats out below. That is with no stacking from kills and with three exotics. Its very similar to yours i believe regarding performance. I think you have about 5% more dps and less armor and healthpool. Now add in 25 stacks power from kills and you can really see what you loose out on when using divinitys.
I dont have to swap gear either. As long as i can achieve the same, or better infact, stats without divinitys its the smart choice imo. The issues i have with divinitys, besides poor performance, is that you infact limit your self if you want to stack one or two stats.
My second pic shows my build i use as a frontline pusher in wvw, that build cant be done with divinitys. Its as simple. while any viable divinity build for wvw can be achieved by using “normal” ascended gear and you just have to swap your weapon and two accessories when you go from dps to tank/support.
Both are based on 0/5/30/30/5
I understand that you guys have a thing for them but you cant seriously suggest that they in any way or form are optimal on a guardian?
I can understand your position, in fact, I personally only use 1 Divinity/Celestial item myself in my build, and it’s just an earring. The goal of my build however just cannot do without it. Believe me, I’ve tried finagling the equipment around all kinds of ways to get rid of it because of the stats I don’t use, for the same reasons you stated. But, getting rid of it got rid of stats I didn’t want to lose. In this case, that single piece of gear was optimal. It balanced the needed/wanted stats I was going for.
And I think that’s what Divinity/Celestial gear is supposed to be used for: Balancing stats.
That being said, as I posted earlier, I think a completely all-stat gear setup isn’t a good idea.

is your 2nd pic raw unbuffed stats?
i tried to build it and i can only achieve it with food and utility buff

I’m sorry Brutaly did you post your build somewhere that I am missing? I just see your stats
I’ve also been playing around with this. It’s probably a bit overkill, but enjoying it so far.

I’d like to see your build also Brutaly. Just wondering what your armor, weapons, and trinket setups are. I’d rather not have to get the divinity stuff with how expensive it can be.
(edited by Galphar.3901)
I was wondering if i could get some input on the build im currently working towards. I am stuck between using the celestial ascended rings and acc and switching out the soldier amulet for cavalier http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/guardian/?3.0|1.1g.h8|2.1g.h15|1n.7c.1c.7c.1c.7c.1n.7c.1c.7c.1n.7c|2u.0.211.0.311.0.211.0.311.0.2s.0|0.a2.u56b.u239.0|54.7|v.19.18.13.1j|e
hey Harbinger, overkill – i assume you mean the armor? do you feel it’s made a notable difference in terms of reduction? i guess it’s hard to pinpoint at times, especially in WvW.. but overall? haha
Akaigi | Warrior Made of Wood
[CDS] – Sanctum of Rall
Well. I thought there would be a soft cap on armor, but it doesn’t seem that way. I pushed it some more using food for +100 tough and +70 prec. I do notice a difference in reduction. 1v1 your hp rarely drops, and you can pull off some crazy stuff in zerg fights.
Decrease is dmg is notable. That being said you still hit fairly hard. You only need 6 stacks of might to get 3k attack which is simple thanks to 45% crit chance(buff)/EM, plus sigil of battle, and activating Justice.
@Holy
I’d just keep the soldier ammy.
Heavens Rage
(edited by Harbinger.8637)
yea, i’ve heard of the cap at 3.1k armor. i technically have a WIP build right now that goes up to 3.4k lol. so that’s not going to be final. and i did tone it down through traits but didn’t get to excessively test its durability in WvW too much yet. i’ll revisit it soon and see how it goes.
ya, definitely easy ways to bring power / attack back up to par.

I do like it a lot. Probably keep it for awhile. I did change out Life for Bloodlust though. Pretty much my damage mitigation is high enough. That I don’t really need to stack healing as much. Better off just going for more power.
Also been using Sword/Torch more then the hammer. Helps a lot with burst, also helps with survivability. Teleport and blocking range attacks.
Heavens Rage
Seems like you took my base 2.0 and went a lil stronger with it. Nothing wrong with that I’m still waiting on more toys. To reinvent things a tad more.

@Harbinger but what is your opinion on the celestial trinkets? you think the small boost to condition damage and healing power warrant the decrease in power and toughness?
I’ve been taking lots of advice/directions from this post
I had been tinkering with using GS and scepter/shield (or focus), and it works okayish, however, when there’s more than one guy to fight it becomes really hard I think.
Also considered taking up the sword again, is it great in this build? Compared to the hammer?
Well I know a lot of people hate celestial because you can’t max/min your gear with them. I personally love them, I’d rather have a balanced gear set up then doing a lot of damage with little survivability, or vice versa. Sure I won’t excel at anything, but I’m not going to be bad either.
Really just personally preference. Either you love it or hate it. Also the Magic Find is great too.

The great part I’m finding out about the s/t combo is it adds a lot more to this build then the hammer imo. Your burst is obviously going to go up since they’re two of the hardest hitting guard weapons. Survivability also goes up as well. You get a blind/teleport which helps you get out of bad situations, but also a way to stop range attacks.
That being said, I still love the hammer for the amount of CC it brings.
Also for the 1vX, very difficult to judge in this game. Theres been times I’ve beat six players, and other times I lose just to two. It really just comes down to the skill of the other players.

Which sword and torch are you using? Zerker? And with what sigils? I’ve enjoyed torch in spvp but have never tried it in WvW.
One Zerker and other Valkyrie. Fire on sword and Force on torch.
Heavens Rage
@Harbinger right now I’m working on getting my ascended items and instead of getting divinity stats, what else would be a good replacement for them?
I’m assume you are talking about runes? They’re are quite expensive, I’d pick Lyssa as a replacement.
Gives you precision which is what the build lacks more then anything. Also gives you another condition remover, and makes Renewed Focus godly.
A lot of different runes you can choose depending on your play style, but that would be my second choice.
Heavens Rage
hmm ok, so what about the divinity trinkets?
If you can you want to mix Berserker/Valkyrie and Cavalier for trinkets.
That well cover everything you need. Power, tough, prec, crit dmg, and vit.

The 1vX I was referring to, was just when using scepter it becomes more difficult to manage multiple enemies.
It’s been awhile since a video. So here we go! Just some gameplay I captured from my last couple of days of WvW.
Sword/Torch! Since it gets a bad rap. Enjoy.

I’ve been waiting for a new vid from you ! Cheers for that and keep them coming
Hey Harbinger, saw you post build when you made it, now i see there are some changes.
Some things i want to ask:.
1.Did you change the traits?
2.Will you go for other ring+accesorry with all stats divinity?
3.I like more the last SS you posted, and the S/T gameplay looks awesome too, will switch the hammer to test them. the Q is how did you get so much armor???
Thanks in advace.
1) No, same traits
2) Yes, I want a full divinity trinket set one day.
3) I play a lot, so I have many different armor sets to choose from.
Heavens Rage
Thanks for the fast answers.
I am playing in groups, with my guild and have many wvw group-zerg fights, that’s why i think will follow your last “overkill” build.More armor is always welcome, and how you said: need just some might to get 3k attacks.
What can i say,i played like 1 month with the build you posted on the 1st page, and from what i tried before, it’s the best one i found,(changed some 2-3 pieces of armor and some skills…everyone learn his own playstyle at the end), so many thanks for this.
Will try the new one and let you know my opinion when i get the right items.
I think you may be on to something with the celestial jewelry Harbinger.
If you change up the armor a bit:
knight helm
knight shoulder
Valk chest
zerk gloves
knight legs
soldier feet
cavalier back
6 divinity runes
zerker weapon
celestial neck, rings, and earrings…. then use bane signet
you end up with 2900+ attack 2900+ armor, 17.5k health and about 600 healing as well as a nice 36% crit chance and over 90 crit damage.
all this is unbuffed so once you add food and such…. It is pretty solid. Nice work
Couple question regarding the build. Is this still following the 0/5/30/30/5 format?
I see GS/Hammer – and a mention of Sword/Torch. If sword/torch are those zerker also? Actually, I think I found the answer to that (need to read more ) You are using one zerker and the other valkyrie with fire on sword and force on torch. Does it matter which is zerker and which is valkyrie in regards to weapon?
Accessories. I have zero ascended gear but sitting on 60 laurels. Currently I have all sapphire orichalcum cleric’s so would need to replace these with other exotics. Which exotic set would work and with what jewels?
I have a full set of knights gear so those pieces are ok. Valkyrie, soldier, and berserker will need to be picked up which are fine using badges now I guess. It looks fun to try but I don’t think it would work if you don’t have has close of gear to match stat wise.
So would this be viable with exotic gear only?
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)

He didn’t exactly come up with himself. Probly got the idea from a guardian in Eredon Terrace, I explained his build here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Divinity-Guardian/first
Sharks With Lazers [PEW]
So looking at this again and using in to the mists calc / builder not sure how close I’ve come to your stats. I’m only using exotics though so maybe that is it.
Primary stats:
Health 15,365
Armor 2724
Attack 3017
Critical hit 47%
Vitality 1372
Toughness 1513
Power 1917
Precision 1824
Secondary stats:
Boon duration 5%
Condition damage 110
Critical damage 97%
Damage 1100
Defense 1211
Healing power 640 (I’m currently using clerics and close to 1500)
Food and utility are the cookies and maint. oil. Armor is what you recommended although maybe I have the wrong boot/feet (invaders chainmail – I don’t see soldiers). Divinity runes (wow – those cost some gold). Accessories are zerks ammy, cavalier’s back, zerk rings, cavalier’s earings. All are using the exquisite ruby jewels.
I guess I have some wiggle room with accessories I’d wager. I have all the weapons but added GS, sword, and torch. Sigil of superior life, fire, and force.
Did I miss something or mess up on selecting accessories?
Edit 1: type on attack. Was 2017 should be 3017
Johnny Johnny – Ranger (Ehmry Bay)
Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)
(edited by Crapgame.6519)
No all that looks about right, build works fine with only exotics.
Also I’ve been using a new build, finding it superior to this one in almost everyway. It’s similar, you can use the same gear etc. Big change is the traits. I’ll keep playing with it, and if I like it enough I’ll update this with the new one. Probably been done somewhere before, but I haven’t seen it yet.

I’m looking forward to hearing about it.
