Cooldowns!
Yes, from the pvp community as well. This change did not significantly hurt phantasmmesmers. It greatly hurt everyone else who wasn’t shatter. Clone spammers unite! :P
I hate that my decoy is in a longer cooldown now with my phantasm build.

Yes, I find myself going 25 into illusions for decoy cd and taking the points out from my weapon traits since celerity affects some of the weap cd’s. It feels clunky as all hell. I’d rather they had just given something a flat % damage nerf. This one change completely messed up the feel of the prof for me. All of my timing that was ingrained over thousands of games is shot. Well, this ain’t only another QQ-Thread about IC, but concerns our other abilities as well. Timewarp, Feedback, Nullfield, blink, Chaos Storm, various weapon skills – they have all received a huge cooldown increase since release and it’s getting worse with every patch.
don’t forget portal! they nerfed the cd from 60 to 90

Yup, I started a more detailed thread about the issue here :

Yeeeep. I used to hop in and out of the enemy team, timing was everying. Now, with all the cd loss, and the insane amount of condition aoe going on in tpvp, I’ve switched to a GS zerker build so I can just sit back and 11111 to win.
And I always thought my build was fairly nerf proof since I only went 5 pts into the trees most ppl were spending 25+ pts in. har har. t(-.-)t Anet.
Cooldowns across the board could do with being looked at, not just for mesmer but for other classes too.
The cooldown on condition cleansing utilities is the largest problem. If you don’t put points in inspiration or chaos (e.g. you run a 20/20/0/0/30 shatter build) you are basically stuck with mantra of resolve…yuck.
I’d love it if they moved some traits around. Shattered conditions should probably be available in shatter builds for example.

110% agree. Base Cooldowns need lowered again. All base cooldowns were increased on the premise that all mesmers were taking that 5 point trait. Well now all mesmers are not taking that 25pt trait and anyone that doesn’t run shatter suffers immensely. The reduction of all illusion summoning CDs needs to happen now. And if that means that shatter mesmers get insanely short CDs on illusions summoning skills then so be it. It is a 25pt trait it should be that awesome now.
At the very very least, decoy should have a shorter base cd! it is survival and almost default in most builds/situations, with Mass invis as an elite being at such a huge cd, decoy definitely should be shorter… if possible, so should veil
Well i cant comment on the higher tier traits as im only just started leveling a mesmer, but man.. This class has got be the slowest one iv yet to go through.
There seem to be such a large gap between cooldowns and continuity of a fight(s). Especially compared to the other classes iv played.
Well ill stick with it for abit longer, hopefully the end reward gets better.

Even without traits, mesmers still have iDisenchanter, Nullfield and CleanseningMantra. Please name another class with so many removal skills.
And no, iDisenchanter and CleanseningMantra have reasonable cooldowns.

Become lvl40, deceptive evasion, done. Before that, suffer.
and another useless whinethread fills the river of mesmer-tears.
but its somehow entertaining to read the bs some people are posting (including mine)

Point is at least before you could be able to cut insane CD times off a lot of skills at lvl 15 (cough IC cough).
Now it’s really painful to carry it trough 40 lvls with the base CDs….

If i had to list the useless “OmgQQNerfMesplox” threads (which Anet decided to second) i’d probably finish for next year or so… :p

Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.

Lawls. that sums it up so hard.
" Please name another class with so many removal skills.

The mantra and idisenchanter do have reasonable cooldown skills. However the latter requires a targeted enemy (not useful when bleeding to death after a fight) and is fairly random when it comes to condition removal given the bouncing. Oh and it is useless to a shatter build.
Arcane thievery has the same targeting problem and 45 second cool down (and it fails if you are too far or aren’t facing the enemy and other times for unknown reasons). Nullfield is awesome but again, 45 second cooldown.
So for shatter builds, again, mantra of resolve is your only quick and reliable option.
And in personal experiences guardian, elementalist, necromancer and engineer all have plenty of ways to remove conditions quickly spread out across different build options.
Mesmer has a bunch of high cooldown, low reliability options in general and a great option (nullfield) if you have a specific build.

I’m shatter main so I’m not very effected by this. And frankly I have no sympathy to Phant builds.
But I do agree with concerns, problem is we’re a C/D heavy class. When’s the last time you did 6 -10k+ in one C/D? (Shatter not included due to relying on other C/D summons) or crit really hard with just your auto attack? Mesmers have consistent pew pew with pretty good spikes in between.
Now granted this could be a valid reason to make us seemingly more OP having played other classes, hasn’t it ever just felt dry after your C/Ds are gone? Lack of control or defence feeling like something is missing beyond face smashing auto attacks?
But if we are going to get harder hits to our C/Ds it’s going to put the class into an awkward position.
To be fair blurred frenzy kind of needed it. It was a more viable and shorter c/d doge than having perma vigor. (And still is when traited even if not by much) but I feel like this is the start down the wrong road especially for alternate builds. Clones are part of our class mechanic and a hard hit to their creation is pretty bad, especially when it doesn’t do much to phant builds. Like we all suspect is the intention.
Suggestion: Put IC back(minor adept) but now have it only effect clones. Then add a the c/d reduction to phants under shattered strength back in its old place. (Minor grandmaster)
Rational: IC becomes a point sync to build around but still acessable to other builds. While not only keeping the phant nerf but making the “illusions tree” a viable option for phant to go into as well as keeping the same c/d for shatter builds.
“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”
I hope they remove IC entirely for a functional balance to all our illusion summoning abilities. It is has been a crutch and crux of too many builds and it should be incorporated into out play style already. I personally do not like “set it and forget it” Phantasm builds myself but we all know for the continued versatility of our profession Anet has to do something about our Illusion CD’s.
I feel a bit differently. They were right to move Illusionist Celerity. It was too powerful for 5 points. However, it should have become a minor Master trait. For 15 points, it would be in line with most cooldown reduction traits and still viable for anyone not making a shatter build.

I also agree that it should have been minor Master trait. It would provide some flexibility for shatter and non-shatter builds.
Just watched the SOTG… Nothing mentioned about doing something to the base cooldowns for illusion skills. Supcutie is a shatter Mesmer so his build was affected absolutely 0 by this nerf… It really sucks that ANET is pretty much forcing us to run shatter to maybe be viable. CDs are too long now because they were increased at a time when mesmers could take iCelerity with minimal impact on their build…. Now several builds are nerfed in terms of survivability (decoy) and in terms of damage (any weapon skills are bjorked unless traited now.)
They spent 8 months balancing stuff including IC in the baseline.
October patch for example increased all phant CD’s of 4-5 sec.
Why?
Cause base CD’s + IC were too short.
Now that they’ve taken out IC from most builds (because going 25 instead of 5 pts in cond dmg + shatter CD line is a waste for most of them) CD’s are inadeguate to say the least.
The pacing of the whole profession feels off.

They don t care of PvE……
So don t expect anything.
Said that….just take back you IC with 0/20/0/25/25 or 10/10/0/25/25
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
