If you do want to roam with the condition cat you can switch out the pistol with focus, it works great for me. You can still get your interrupt via focus, plus swiftness/snare out of it. Plus warden on a downed person is always nice when there are multiple enemy around :P

What do you think is the best build for roaming and duels?, condition cat or heavy 3.0 (shatter one)?. I find your condition cat build very strong for duels , however how do u deal with the lack of swiftness when roaming? Are all the stealths enough to scape in critical situations?, when using sword/pistol ( instead of staff) wouldn´t be better to use sigil of earth (along with sigil of battle) to produce more bleeds with BF?
I have been using a shatter build quite similar to yours, and I wanted to try a condition build.

I took your advice Osicat and put a Sigil of Str in the GS. The Clockwork Chaos runs have been good to me so far and I was able to also place an entire set of Superior Runes of Str in all armor slots. I looked at Hoelbrek, but given a PvE environment, the condi reduction didn’t seem as needed.

The build is working well, but I still miss the Staff. It just feels like it works better to me… either that or I’m just taking time adjusting to the GS play style. This is still funny, all the things I constantly complain about are the same things that make me love this game. Just too many combinations.

I still use it, still works and still love it (although my gear is different from the link; I have more Berserker gear due to mostly playing pve).

My question:
How do you (Osicat) feel about the new Traveler’s runes?

Shatter cat mist is still a good choise? Which of them do you think to be the most viable atm?

@Hesy Ra, Wvwvw a gift from God, Pve a close to usless rune set.

@Dognuts, in a team yes, solo roaming I think its to squisy. For Pve its fatntastic.

@My Sweet Lily, Its a extremly interesting rune. Still its to complax to say if its betetr than any other set without proper tetsing. Its not better than perplexy for a deep condition set. Its not better than holbreak or a tanky set. Still mabye its a better alternative for a semi bursty 20-20-0-0-30 alt 0-20-20-0-30 build.

@CyberMurmeli, Viable, yes. Best build, depends on what you going to do. Still for overall wvwvw i feel Condition cat 2.0 or shatter cat Heavy 3.0 be most flexible and fill most roles.

can you make video of some bigger fight (50+ players)? I’d like to try shatter cat heavy 3.0 but I’m not sure if it is “heavy” enough.

Hey Osicat what about to suggest us a build with the new “rune of traveler” in order to get 25% movement speed and don’t care anymore to stack swiftness (no more forced to use focus for this and still get low uptime)?
The only other problem for mesmers will be the “condition remove acces” because we get few ways to do so… also to use food with -40% cond duration isn’t enough anymore (since enemies get something like 100-120% more condition duration). The only way we have to face this problem is the nullfield… maybe working on glamour skills can help us…

osi i was playing shatter cat & shatter cat heavy …sword pistol / staff sometimes sword focus / staff …….and was playing with my mesmer friend with same build ( he was nuke i was little bit tanky) i stoped playing 6moths and turn back gw2 and see that shatter is dead i mean without condi ( my opinion ) and problem is i hate playing condi and confusion stacking and stacking something . What can i do , only you can help me because i was playing similiar build / gear with you and it was very very very fun but now i dont want play / bored etc…What u advice me reroll another class or …. ??(sorry for bad grammer)

thank you for your work providing us such well made and comprehensive builds,

i am currently levelling my Mesmer as an alternative to my riffle warrior ( burst/survival spec with 5-17k crit shots on his dmg skills) and will reach 80 soon, so i am trying to decide on a build and exotics to use right now, the one thing which annoys me about the warrior is his lack of infighting capabilities, I usually don’t die very often, but when I do its when jumped by thiefs / 2-3 chain cc players when I move around alone, so I want to use my mesmer mainly for roaming and smaller zergs and I want to have a spec where I feel absolute confidence that I can fight and survive vs any class.

when sifting through your builds I am currently gravitating towards your heavy 3.0 spec https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/external?l=http%3A%2F%2Ftinyurl.com%2FHeavy-3-0 as it also brings something to the table when I join up with smaller zergs, seems to have nice survivability but also offensive qualties.
Some questions still bug me thought:

1) I really feel like my Mesmer is terrible immobile traveling around, especially compared to my warrior with near perma swiftness and 2 mobility skills on GS, so I was planning to pick up rune of the traveller to combat this, how much does this limit my fighting capabilities as obviously it doesn’t help me to run faster if it means I have to run every fight because of being outmatched.
i read that travellers dont stack with switfness, so centaur would also be an option i guess.
I understand that you use hoelbreak for the -20% condition duration as we have the condition meta right now, however I am playing on fissures of woe, i don’t know if that is a trademark of the low level wvw servers, but I have yet to see any number of condition stackers vs me, some hammer warriors running around but I usually have no problems dodging their skills anyway.

2) Bountiful interruption (5 sec might on interrupt) seems like an underwhelming choice to me compared with Chaos V or X why did you choose to take it?

3) You use a mix of armor + trinkets on the build, I usually go with specialising on certain stats and max them, I guess you do that to have a well-rounded spec being able to survive burst but still doing decent dmg yourself? How much of a difference do you experience vs a full zerker set in terms of survivability?

4) How good is the spec in pve, especially in dungeons? Viable or do I need to reskill traits and get some more zerker armor pieces

5) i see a lot of builds / advises to run a condition spec with perplexity runes, is that currently the creme de la creme for wvw fighting, do you think they are going to nerf the rune soon? I usually like to be a playmaker when travelling with a zerg and aggressivly jump badly placed placed stranglers as well as catching lonely travelers a lot of them try to run away so i feel like perplexity is a subpar choice as it looks like more of a passive defensive spec for drawn out fights, what are your thoughts here?

I was wondering for instance what were your thoughts about the new travelers runes have you finally tested them ?

Not that i play that much but haven’t seen him in a month. Also his guild kind of quit gw2 or at least have a pause.

I dont know what he think but he was good play and had one of best topic on forum he was trying new things everyday and teaching people to improve themself and last thing is he was Creator and father of shatter builds (actually funniest and enjoyable build ever in all profs) but even osicat(he made people reroll mesmer more than everything/everybody) and many help to this game , Arenanet killed shatter , i wont argue but shatter is dead obsivious and this makes him stop maybe ( because many shatter players and players playing with osicats style think that this condition thing never be fun kittenter)..this is my idea (btw sorry for my bad grammer)

I met two Shatter Mesmers yesterday!
Was fun to see that there are still people using this build, as it’s really effective against some classes (especially D/D or D/P thieves!).

I find Shatter Mesmers to be the perfect counter to perma-stun Warriors too. It’s too bad the condi meta, along with perplexity runes and Dire Gear, has completely removed them from the game

I can confirm that Osicat has quit GW2 for now, along with the rest of Judge. Only me and a couple of people are still playing GW2. Osicat and the others have moved to Final Fantasy. The primary reason was because GW2 lacked real raids. I also suspect Arenanet’s imbalances were a big factor too and the less than sufficient support for WvW.

I still love shatter. Its the first viable build i made, learned and somewhat mastered.

Sad to say tho that shattering isnt like it use to be…nowadays most mesmers go towards prismatic understanding rather then shatter, now more then ever considering the cooldown reduction on skill 2 and 3 for scepter…
its either scepter / torch / staff for defensive or scepter / torch / sword / pistol for offensive.
oh and lets not forget the stupidly disgusting phantasm PU build…
I for one am a big fan of shatter builds but im being realistic that in this current meta shatter builds aren’t as viable as they use to be and i stand by my point no matter how many people are going to be against this comment.
1. shatter burst isnt as high as it use to be unless u go glass cannon…the might stacking is completely situational.
2. condition removal is extremely weak on shatter mesmers.
3. luckily for the traveler’s rune because naturally mesmers r SLOW unless you use focus…

To clarify, Yes, we at Judge have moved on to Final fantasy for PVE action. We started as a PVE guild on WoW and were missing that type of game play.
There are several Judge members still left on Guild wars and will continue playing on the Gandara server under new guilds.

This isnt to say that Osi wont return or any of us for that matter. Its a simple clarification of where we are at, at this moment in time. We go with the flow.

Been recently starting to pay attention to forums and mesmer stuff in genereal. Osicats stuff is very inspiring. Are these builds still viable after recent updates and so on?

the best builds out for the meta atm are the blackwater/condition cat builds right now, but sure heavy 3.0 would still be viable

So the viability of all these builds is still high. The current meta however prefers condition damage to this because it is more consistent and I believe higher. HEavy is the most viable of all as it is the tankiest and best equipped to deal with the current meta.
