I’m sure it has a little less to do with Anet and a little more to do with the fact that we’ve been seeing ‘mesmer op’ threads ever since the patch and when they post here about it where we have actual discussions about our class it takes away from that. Which gets annoying.
I must agree with Pyro here, the Everything-and-your-Cat mesmer build is too broken.

actually pyro is right though. this persom over exaggerates everything here in this thread and sorry but telling him to leave is not your place. no one in these forums has the right to tell someone to shut up. pyro knows every inch of mesmer builds and yes hi might no notice every bug right away cause he doesnt play the affected build atm, but he goes and tests it.

Pyroatheist is out of his depth in regards to dungeon mesmers, so no he does not know every inch of it, as much as people think he does.
It’s also kind of pathetic that if I express the same honesty that he does I get lambasted.

Read the actual thread from the beginning. The person was asking a serious question and pyro immediately begins with sarcasm. And I’m not asking him to leave these forums. I am asking him to leave this thread. I don’t care if he doesn’t sweet talk things. If his first inclination is to be rude, then I would prefer he leave threads like this, especially because it seems like he doesn’t wish to participate.

As I stated elsewhere in this thread, I’m perfectly happy to contribute less sarcasm if someone comes asking with enough self-awareness to realize that making a laundry list of mechanics that cover about 4 different builds is a silly thing to do.

No. No he was not. He made a thread making wild accusations about things that are simply not possible. There’s one of these threads every week. Sometimes more. There is one at the top of the list right now. Seriously, go check it out. I don’t think anything in the game gets as much hate as PU and most people have no idea what it is, they think it’s just the name for a specific build that has stealth, boonspam and high condi & power damage at the same time. No such build exists, yet the crying never ends. It’s baffling.

Just found this thread, your first answer was the only thing i would have been able to think of also. He described an impossible build, if he described something remotely real a legit answer would have been proper.

Yes it was. If you and Pyro would get your heads out of your kitten you would see that this is a new player who was quite obviously confused. He wasn’t telling you that the build could do that, he was telling you his perceptions. Later, working with other players (who responded with far less sarcasm), he was able to understand his mistake.
While Pyro’s jokes were funny enough, I believe they may have been a bit much. The OP was ignorant, yes. He simply didn’t understand something, or possibly anything, about Mesmers. It would then be our duty to enlighten him on the issue as well as making sense of what he was saying by probing the issue. It’s not like he was telling us we were overpowered or QQing about our no-skill.

Fair point about the subsequent posts confirming the OP was serious. I was looking at the initial post taken on its own.
However, the initial post is very much exaggerated:
“millions of clones” – capped at 3 as we all know, no matter how many keep dying. Most builds are going to have 3 up, most of the time.
“Constant condi removal” – a high damage PU power build will likely not have mender’s purity, nor will be using many mantras. They may have idisenchanter, but saying condition removal is constant is a flat out lie. Yes they can avoid a lot of damage – but can still be wrecked by heavy condition classes.
“Constant stealth” – yes there are a few stealths, and yes retargeting after stealth among illusions is annoying. But constant? No, not like thieves are capable of.
Finally if it’s a power PU build, the conditions are largely a red herring – so the confusion, bleed and burn will amount to minor additional damage compared to direct damage bursts from player and/or phantasms.

It is. And apologies, I really didn’t see this as any different than the endless other complaint posts, especially given the account name.
Ah well. That gives me an idea though, we could show how little we care about the plight of less pink classes by making a “How to kill me”-guide. Per-spec about what the spec cannot do.

lol that is pretty funny.
In all serious though.. I leveled a mes a long time back and forgot about it completely until recently. Its the last class I am taking the time to really learn and kit out. From what I see it is the ultimate counter class.
So to fight them… simply don’t. They are mostly waiting for you to make a mistake… so buy time and pull them into a group of friends / npcs, or at least a spot where they won’t be able to escape any AOE you can throw down while they are cloaked up.
Condi mes will want to hang around you to get the burn on you off torch 4… which makes them easy to predict. If you get blinded when they stealth it means they used torch 4 so start laying your aoe right where you are.
