Illusions dying vs stealthed opponent in WvW
You guys keep giving inaccurate information. It’s not when the enemy stealths. Its when the illusions attack is ready and they try to attack but have no target. There’s a big different between the two. >_>:

I think I’m the only Mesmer who’s welcomed the increased challenge, because I’ve still been outperforming stealth classes, but I’m also a total masochist so that’s me being a weirdo freak.
But yeah definitely expecting this to be hotfixed soon.
What build do you run out of curiosity?
I run and have been since I can remember (in pretty much every format):
Sword/Pistol – Staff
Domination – 10 – V
Duelling – 30 – II – IX – X
Chaos- 15 – V
Illusions- 15 – IV
I used to run 25 in Duelling and then 20 in Domination and take Chaotic Dampening, but the range on I-Duellist is WAY too good to give up I’ve realised, and a 1200 area stun/daze is clutch for me. I’ve found if I time my dodges and use them only as I need them, the loss to the CD of Phase Retreat is easily managed.
It doesn’t rely on stealth, it’s essentially keeping the enemy crippled, weakened and bleeding. Sword is pretty pivotal as the clones remove boons on auto-attack, apply bleeding and vulnerability on crits.
I’ve found it effective against countless PU setups as well, as once you have them in range, you can safely pop a 1200 range stun, set up I-Duellist and regardless of how much they would like to remove conditions, the crit damage from it will burn away at them. Even with this bug I haven’t noticed much of a difference, but I play incredibly aggressively, as people are usually over-cautious and don’t expect a total assault.
@ronpierce aha! THIS is why I haven’t noticed much of a difference in how I’ve been performing then. It makes sense.

That’s interesting actually. I do realize that it’s a lack of target. You’ll see illusions die on mobs that go invuln as well because of this.
mesmer is officially dead
Hypercrushed
Nothing surprises me about the DEVS in this game anymore, They are all probably fresh out of college.
Oficially dead no, but this bug really makes us useless for roaming and sPvP.
Seems for a target lost issue than a stealth. Hope they fix it as soon as possible, but iZerker took 6 months and iWarden is been bugged for 2…

Interesting, thanks for the clarification. I’m hoping to get in game later this evening to test for myself, but it doesn’t look as bad as I initially thought.
Won’t be fixed until next content patch in 2 weeks, since it doesn’t affect PvE, i fear.

It’s not as bad as people thought, and in fact many people think it’s just thieves who the bug pertains to, but that’s not the case. The real case is that most stealths are so short that the illusions don’t try to attack in that time frame, and don’t die. This happens pretty frequently still even against thieves. You can, however almost bet on them dying if you see either a shadow refuge, or black powder HS combo (assuming he does it twice).

Clones attack more or less constantly, so they will die even with a very short stealth. Phantasms might live, depending on the stealth and how lucky you get. The swordsman will almost always die due to a fast attack cycle. Same with the disenchanter.

No, this is true, some last longer than others. Warden actually rarely dies.

That’s pretty much what I said.

Not short enough for most illusions.
Again, I’ll reserve judgement until having played with it, but it still doesn’t feel right.

Is as bad as we think when fighting thiefs. Even our phantasms are destroyed everytime.
This is only a mesmer problem, cause there’s no problem with thiefs guild, or other pets from other classes.

Well… in a way it does make sense for me. But they than should reduce the cooldown to cast illusions, so you can attack, when the target is visible again.
Fix it. Thanks.
