Sounds like a good idea I’ll sort it out when I have some time

Suggestion: would it be better to separate the WvW builds into two section, roaming (solo or small team) and GvG (or zerg fighting, etc)? it should be easier for people to look up for the builds they need for particular circumstances.

Not all builds can be separated that way though. Would be quite clunky to do.

There is a lack of Scepter/Sword builds (only Pyro has a similar, that relies on a different core mechanic )

Sorry for the delayed response. There is a charity event for cancer being held on the 19th (Pink Day in LA) and I’ve been tasked to host it on Desolation EU kind of last minute so I’m quite busy.

Feel free to point out specific GvG focused builds and I can add ‘GvG’ to the description at the end but I don’t feel there is a need for it’s own category as it’s more a play style rather than a build style.

As for zerging/roaming that is up to the builds owner to elaborate in their topic as to what the purpose of their build is. I try to keep the list concise with the bare details to keep it an easy overview. I think the dedicated gamemode of a build is enough.

Just took a quick look at the list of all the trait setups on the first page, and none of them were the 10/30/0/20/10 sword/focus + offhand swap to either sword or pistol, zerk + scholars. That’s been the PvE meta for some time now – how can there not be a guide on that somewhere here?

Firstly, that’s not the pve meta build as it does not optimize fully for damage.

Secondly, included in the list is Colesy’s pve dungeon guide which happens to include multiple effective dungeon builds.

Well, of course it doesn’t optimize damage – anything in inspiration kills your damage, and it puts 20 there for focus reflects and shortened Feedback CD (assumed necessary. if you haven’t got them, why the **** are you bringing a mesmer?). Actually, empowered phantasms is one of our most important damage traits in pvp :P.

It also automatically gets you the other inspiration traits, so thats not a problem

Fay – there have been quite a few new builds pop up over the past month. I listed many of them in this December build of the month post, if you want to take some from there.

Fay, this is the build I have been running lately in dungeons and WvW in groups. I call it the Dazed and Confused Mesmer. Although the condition damage is not high the spike damage is pretty decent. It is the closest thing I found to a GW1 Mesmer in this game – why – it interrupts everything!!!

I’ve added the builds and re-adjusted the list a bit for everything to fit. I was planning to go through all the builds to try to weed out all the outdated threads but there is an issue with the forum dates which makes it near impossible to discern when something has been posted/edited so I will have to have a closer look to see if I can figure it out on a later date. This is not the appropriate place for your post. If you would like your build listed in this thread, you need to make a separate guide/build thread which would then be linked to.

Why is there no list of phantasm builds?

Could we do some Spring cleaning of the OP? If you need help, please let me know.

I will completely restart the list from scratch once the expansion has been released. All the builds listed on there right now will probably, mostly, still apply to a lesser or greater extend, or perhaps with a minor tweak.

Maybe a couple of things are missing but now that we know there are bigger changes coming our way (hopefully) there isn’t really any point in updating the list as it might be invalidated with the arrival of the expansion, we don’t know how things will change with the Revenant on board and the shield thing.

However, once it’s released it’ll be the theorycrafters time to shine if things do change as I will be compiling any new builds that come out and any out of date builds will be put to rest unless the build creators update their builds/topics appropriately in a timely fashion, in which case they will be re-added. I just thought it would be a good time to restart the list really….

I’m also planning on revamping the mesmer guides website that I’ve been admittedly completely neglecting (i.e. never finished). It’s just that the infrastructure of that website that I made from scratch ended up being way too much work to work with in a reasonable fashion and so I was going to have to start all over again and I just kept postponing doing so, sorry!

So many “what ifs”.

Trying to make sure I acquire all possible gear that may have interesting changes, especially taking into account things like Resistance boon, etc.

Actually, scrap the part about re-adding old build topics. Instead it would be better if theorycrafters could start new topics, if they want to re-vamp old builds.

The reason for that is because people will have left a lot of posts on those build pages over the years that might now be widely outdated (if things do change that much… probably not lol) and could confuse newcomers as well as detract from the revamped build discussion.

I mean, I will of course add old build threads if they’ve been updated/still valid and are good but it would be preferable if you could all start afresh for the sake of not adding unnecessary confusion surrounding your build. All this depends on what happens of course, if not much changes I might just edit the build list to include updated builds and/or just the good builds, we will have to see.

I have setup a Twitter, Facebook, and Google+ account for it and I will be posting occasional updates on the website building progress on there. After the website has been completed we will be linking the latest guides, builds, and mesmer news that we post on our website on those social media platforms so that you can more easily keep on top of the latest goodies if you follow us:

We felt this was especially important because, although the official forums make a good place for mesmer discussion, it is not designed to be a place that allows us to gather and organize information. Although the Wikipedia accomplishes this to an extend, it does not have the added and valuable experience that the mesmers in our community can offer through explanation and videos.

I will still work on this build list of course but I can’t guarantee it will be as up-to-date as this website will be as it will be just me updating it and I’m terrible for getting distracted with shinies.

Thanks for the support! We have already got a couple of great mesmers on board but I’m hoping to get at least a few more. So… any mesmers on here who know a thing or two or have a good build, don’t feel shy to PM me. Even if you’re fairly new and just want a place to host your builds we’re happy to oblige (Provided the builds are good of course).

I’m currently in the process of doing some of the more lengthier/difficult code and art work but some of the design work is already up there for those curious.

Anyone played around with a 0/4/6/4/0 ? I didn’t see any when I looked at the list.
