Hai! Not sure if this is done before but, anyway, I want to hear about your favourite and most satisfying moments! Be sure to describe in great detail

I’l just tell two of mine:

Zerg busting crew in wvw, I haven’t ran with real zerg busting groups til the past few weeks, so these experiences were refreshing and eye-opening for me. and we were up against servers who had much greater numbers and coverage. (not naming any server names) So typically a fight would be 15 of us vs 30-40 of them. The same thing in this case, we had 15 and they had around 35 attacking our garrison. The wall was down by the time we got there to defend and they pushed into the garrison once or twice, but with our crew, taking advantage of a blind corner and timing all our aoe and such they were wiped. So when they returned with more numbers, I think they must have recognized our guild tag because they stopped short and didn’t advance forward much, seeming to be planning or uncertain. Anyway we decided to go suicidal and take the fight to them. A mesmer down a portal outside the garrison, far right of their group, still slightly of infront of them, after portal, and i laid down a veil, and we ran at them and cut sharp right which put us behind them. We were completely invisible, and caught them off guard. was a complete wipe in a very little time. We stayed outside the garrison because there was another zerg coming another 30-40 so people. We faced them head on, and sent a mesmer off to the side, moving along the left behind them. While they thought we were facing head on, and moved forward into us, we used the portal and appeared behind them. Another wipe for them! It was great haha I hadn’t done much of that before so running with a zerg busting crew is great fun and mesmers really changed the tide of the fights even in outnumbered situations sometimes

Another story is way back, months ago, near release time, when I was levelling in PvE and still a noob. I think I was level 25 and the mesmer in PvE when played right really has such great survivability, and I was levelling in maps that are like 5 – 10 level higher. So I happened to decide to be suicidal and go to Harathi. There I ran around tagging centaurs with my staff trying to pick up as many as I could and see how long I could survive lolol. I had like 5 or 7 or so around me and I think one of the dog/wolf things with my staff and sword/focus, I thought I was only going to survive for a short time. But to my surprise I ended up killing them all after a long time of crazy kiting, dodging, moving, trying to stay alive. Back then, I swear my play skill was higher than it is now lol! Like levelling in tough places, or levelling in general without full traits, build, gear, really put me on my feet. In PvE now, i just autoattack, cuz most mobs are brainless and I can take hits with my build so I end up being lazy, except for the tougher events or bosses. In WvW, it feels like real fights outside of zergs are relatively short lived, and depends on difference in numbers, play skill, builds, classes, etc, one or the other will go down, so it’s almost like there wasn’t enough time to truly get into the rhythm or vibe of things, it’s super fast instinctive kind of fighting

Anyway, i’m sure there’s lots of interesting stories, share your own!

Favorite Mesmer Moment:
A few months back when Dragonbrand, Yak’s Bend, and Fort Aspenwood I believe were matched up in WvW we would have duels every now and then behind the windmill. There was this annoying ranger there with a Dreamer that kept on beating every one (he was either trap or BM) except for me. This was around the same time more people were trying out Pyro’s immortal build, which is what I was running.

It got to the point where people refused to duel me because “mesmers are OP and confusion is OP” and they didn’t." After awhile pyro also showed up and they started to jump us for about 5-10 min straight. Finally pure numbers won out, but I found it funny that someone who was unbeatable by everyone else (including other mesmers) called my spec OP just because he couldn’t steamroll through it.

I was roaming with a warrior in EB some weeks ago, trolling the enemy zerg near their own spawn (don’t remember what server we were playing against).

However, he went down amidst ~10 enemies, all trying to stomp him. I saved him multiple times via Mass Invis, F3 and Focus #4 (pre-nerf), ressed him and put down a portal a moment before the ress went through. We both portalled out and left behind a zerg of disoriented people ^^

For a Mesmer I have very high armor… Checking out the Skritt area I happened upon two warriors killing the Veteran Skritt. I decided to enter the fray knowing full well that I would be getting all the aggro from the Veteran Skritt and his lackies. The 2 warriors decided I wasn’t invited and fighting over the Veteran Skritt ensued..

TL;DR I was able to kill the Veteran Skritt and the 2 warriors and live to tell about it.

Oh another one, 1 v 3, was tough cuz there was a hard hitting thief and warrior. Well by chance, I managed to get off a focus pull and both of them was thrown off the cliff LOL so it was just 1v1 after safe

Then there’s a CoE dungeon run, where everybody kept dying and I was solo-ing the boss for the next like half hour…. #staffOP XD I always say when I pull out my staff you know I’m serious lolol

^This anytime I see that happen in Video or In-game is another reason I’m proud to be a mesmer :p

Me and two other mesmers from my server capped a camp in an enemy BL, and held it for awhile against groups of 10-15. We wiped when 30 or so of them came by to get us out.

Ascalonian fractal lvl 28, on final boss, Pug clearly doesnt get the whole go to range thing and don’t clump under meteor shower… so they either wipe from agony blast or fire balls from the sky, and there I am with the GS at my safe 1200 range. The squire couldnt tell if it wanted me or my phantasms and ran back and forth not doing anything and with blink I was able to kite, stay out of Agony/Fire blast and his whirlwind (zerker so 1 hit KO with those). 25 minutes of kiting and dmg and I solo’d the boss from about 60% HP (stupid NPC wouldnt aggro on him for 2 minutes…). 2 of the people in group said they wanted to make a mesmer now… Not OP, just pure skill

In WvW, lots of moaning on chat about a super ganky D/P Thief causing grief near one of our supply camps. Naturally, I go to the Thief’s last known location and pretend I’m AFK. When the Thief comes in for a backstab, I pop decoy, take two steps to the right, moa morph and then melt the Thief before he even has a chance to react to the fact that he is now a giant bird. Simple, clean, effective – the Thief didn’t come back.

I’ve never actually made use of Moa before, but when you land a good one, hahahah, that must be the best thing ever

Last week we ran into Hills to defend against a group of 20db, we had 9 of us with 7 Mesmers, and when they saw us approaching from the south (under the bridge) they pulled up to the lookout (big mistake) What followed was 7 mesmers all with TC and 20 dead DB at the bottom of the cliff.

Mine would be in a SPvP match. me (Mesmer, duh lol) Vs an Ele. We had been going at it most of the match then we found ourselves 1 Vs 1 time to settle it i thought so we went at it (he was D/D) and i was a Phantasm build we were fighting for like 4-5minutes all over the map – one retreating the other chasing only need to retreat himself

Right at the end before we could finish it off the others got involved and i “won” that wasnt the best bit, it was the fact that we JOKED about it in the chat and even spent time talking and giving each other tips and advice about each other character with me having a D/D ele and him having a Mesmer – It was just nothing i experienced in cough wow cough with most of it being people screaming about noobs and everything else, it was just nice to have a friendly chat and joke

When Kaining server was tier 8 and nobody played open-world PvE (they still don’t), before I’d found this forum, no concept of a “build”, just running around having fun. Level 72, exploring PvE Cursed Shore, paused next to another player. Random trash mob shows up, we drop it and I start to move on. He chats “It gets hard up there” and I reply “I’m a mesmer” and proceed to carry him through gobs of lvl 80 trash to a camp/waypoint/safe place.
A level or two later, see a downed player icon on the map and go over to help, fight the champion gladiator he’d been dropped by for what felt like forever with the downed player watching. Lots of clone production/shattering.
After the fight, while rezzing him, he writes “Smart to bring an army with you”

I was about to win my first 1v5 in one of the BL maps and then I used mirror images and somehow got stuck in a wall. They used the chance to rez each other and kill me.

I was running the standard cof p1 farm, 4 warrs and my mes. We were at the rolling balls of fire part where I dropped my first portal and went to blink across to the other side. Instead I dropped my portal in the middle and ended up murdering my entire party >.>

One or two weeks ago we had an awesome fight with my guild on north camp of an enemy borderland, using my portals and veils to move our group of about 20 and take on 30-40 enemies that kept running back from the near spawn. My portal keybind was on fire when they finally managed to catch us

I was soloing a supply camp when two enemies charged in. I assumed I was toast, but managed to lead them away from the camp and actually downed them both. They sent me a party invite and I chatted a bit as I tried to finish taking the camp. Then their friend came in and took me out while I was busy with the last guards. We had a good laugh and wished each other well.

I was defending bay and I decided to go to the north cliff to take a look outside and this annoying ranger decided to attack me. After about 10sec I realized he clearly out skilled me so I decided to run along the wall to shake him off on the vets. Even that didn’t stop him so I dropped a portal and kept running. After a good distance I dropped exit and waited for him to see where I went. He comes back and we are on the north cliff again. I figure OK I will just TC this guy off the cliff. Get there and he refuses to go close enough to the edge for a pull and to make things worse his guardian buddy shows up. I attack the guardian and see he is built like a brick. Knowing I’m dead and they are too far for a pull I say kitten it and TC/Into the void. And they both end up right next to each other 2 feet from the edge. Without even thinking out comes my great sword followed swiftly by illusionary wave. Knocks them both out and I get out of there fast cause I know wurm gate still down lol.

Come across a necro and a guardian trying to flip our camp so I jump in and hit the necro which thankfully was glass and died fast. The champ was at low HP when I engaded him so his guardian friend didn’t even see me spike him. But the champ died in that time so it was me and guardian in a 1v1. Guy was obviously wearing pvt cause he would’ve melted my berserker mesmer if he was wearing anything else. We both get low on HP and heals on CD and I know I’m seconds from death. Drop my portal and kite ~ 1200units away and drop exit. For 10sec I troll him with portal and keep laser beaming him with gs while taking no DMG. He drops and my heal comes off CD. Gg

I head to eb and see a camp has swords so I go. And sure as kitten its him and necro again! Rinse repeat. Although this time I had NPCs for help ;-)

1) This is about me killing two thieves in 2v1.

A group of 5-6 were attacking Hills from the wall near the northwest gate, I keep trolling them and running back with invis and stuff, trying to lure them near the cliff to pull them down with temporal. They don’t eat it, I keep trolling them. At last 2 thieves come after me, both level 80 and slightly over average ones so I know I cannot keep it up for long, I have to be quick. In about a minute I manage to pull one of them down the edge but he does not fall down all the way, he just falls to a small edge that is still too high to come back from. I keep fighting the other thief and in about 30 seconds I pull him down right next to his friend. They are just sitting there unable to do anything, probably telling their mesmer friend over TS to port them back. I send join request to their party, they accept me and say “What do you want?”. I click on mass invisibility, jump on the edge they are standing on and put temporal right there, pull and bingo, both fall and die instantly. In party chat I say “This.” and leave.

2) Along with 2 mesmer friends we stood on tower walls and spammed clones, a group of 10 stopped hitting the gate and left, they probably thought we were a group of 10+, lol.

3) I am at the edge of the cliff between Garri and the keep that is neighboring Garri on the West, I do not move or do anything, try to make it seem like I am AFK. I have my cam looking behind me, I see an elementalist coming furiously towards me with all those shiny flamey effects and speed buff, I wait for him to come very very close, then at the perfect moment when he starts coming towards me on a line of flame, I hit decoy, dodge roll backwards, put temporal on the edge, pull and voila, he meets his death with a fancy line of fire behind him.

4) Near the gate of Bay, attacked a dolyak that was guarded by a veteran scout, veteran guard, an elementalist and a ranger. Dolyak gets closer to death and we get closer to gate, there are: veteran zealot, protector, guard and scout at gate with archers on the wall of course. Dolyak has half of its HP left when the gate guards get into combat, I keep hitting the dolyak until it is almost dead, somehow it heals and gets in the tower, yet I disengage peacefully with more than half of my HP remaining thanks to my post-nerf build being just so awesome.

5) Coming nose to nose with a thief, both doing nothing and waiting the other one to do the first move. I click on temporal curtain to put it on the ground to get him off of me when he jumps at me and I instinctively put it down simultaneously as he probably hits the key, so for one second it seems as if he is on me and then one second later he is pulled back and I am sending my leaping clone at him, he realized it being so perfectly timed and runs away without looking back. I just lol.

6) In PvE doing that Caledon champions quest where you turn into various creatures and fight various creatures. In the last boss fight while I am still mesmer I put 3 iDuelists, then I turn into some creature and they are still there, hitting it for good, I am then downed when it has like 1/3 of his HP still, everyone is downed yet my Duelists kill the creature with others using their downed skills as well.

I’ve got several good stories but I’ll keep them to a minimum.

1. Getting chased around by two separate mobs of 15+ (one for each server) in WvW within a few minutes of each other. It was particularly funny since they kept chasing me and each lasted for at least 20 minutes each. Both finally got me but by then my server had taken back several towers.

2. I went to the northern camp on our BL to defend against invaders. A 4-man guild group showed up from the east and I proceeded to work them over. 2 of my server showed but died off. They stuck around to watch me in action though. As I was finishing the last guy off, I turned around and found 8 more coming from the west. I got another 2 before shear numbers overwhelmed me. The two server-mates were laughing constantly in team chat.

Last night while sieging a tower there was me on a cliff, had 2 thieves and a warrior come up to me (while on the edge) with a mesmer close behind, so i layed a portal, jumped down to proc chaos armor, the two thieves followed (i was delighted!!) portal up to the top, pull the warrior off and shattered the mesmer (who was up levelled) and he died.

shortly after the two thieves came back and wiped the floor with me, go figure eh.

Fought a 1 v 1 v 1 a while ago. All of us are decent players all of us got dowed at 1 pt of the fight. It just turns out l.uck was on my side I was able to rally off a mob and win the fight.

To add more, this week, we are matched with higher tier servers, while we are confident on our skill we just don’t have the numbers and coverage lol so especially away from prime time, when I’m usually on in the mornings, we usually would hold or claim all of our home bl and so on every week no problem, but sigh this week, its really tough and bordering strategically hopeless lol its like zergs of 30 all the time vs 10 man pug groups… and the zergs don’t even split off, they come as a huge group rofl… I usually focus on fights, but this week, during these times I’m focused more on running away and i’m finding it wonderful fun as a mesmer to run away LOL. So out of like 10 – 15 encounters in the morning with those big zerg balls, I’d charge suicidal straight into them, while proccing my boons, chaos armor stuff, blinking, etc, somehow survive, and then stealth away while the rest of our server groups would be all wiped hehe I’m enjoying my more defensive build i guess. If I pulled out more ptv gear I think I would survive or hold off people for longer

Haha I’m loving the stories guys! Especially these, rather than boasting, these are hilarious xD

And omg, I seriously need to learn how to play more tricks and use (what other people would call “cheap”) strategy like this. I believe this is all part of mesmer and player ability A smart fight is a good fight.

Downing a 75% hp necro, and kills him while downed, is my best fight.

This isn’t quite a war or battle story, but easily one of my favorite moments. (Happened twice so far too)

I’m sitting idle in Lions Arch when someone level 12 runs up to me. “Hey, so, you know a lot about Mesmers right?” I assumed it was a guildie, but nope, but I responded and ended up spending 25 minutes walking around with the person (and another random who joined us… randomly) showing them tricks about the Mesmer. They had really liked the class but was finding it really difficult compared to their alts and was almost dropping.

I taught them the staff, the combo fields (people LOVE learning combo fields), what stats affect phantasms and when to shatter properly.. I ended up teaching them everything it took me 4 months to learn to level 80 (slow leveler.. easily distracted and love to experiment) in about a half hour.. and they were sooo much happier as a result.

…The first time that happened was in PvP.. And the dude ended up beating me with the build/class I gave him and taught him how to use.. I was so proud. =[

Another i just experienced.

In WvW, like 4 of us got jumped by like 7 or 8 of team Blue. With the use of Stealth, Torment and alot of clones not only was i able to down and kill a couple i was able to escape, sure the others died but managing to time Torment RIGHT as i got attacked and down someone was sick!

Then jumped into stealth, created more clones and switched to staff for somne Chaos Storm and Chaos Armor, 10 seconds and a Decoy later, back into Scepter/Torch and into another Torment timed just right.

At this point i saw that the others were downed the the Blue attack was growing. Phase Retreat from Choas Storm creating Chaos Armor and then into Decoy and popped Mirror Images to hopfully cripple a few guys if they were close and to confuse people, i then sidetracked went back into S/T and used the Torch Stealth followed by Mass Invis.

It was just enjoyable as normally i would have pretty much ZERO chance but the higher health and toughness combined with Torment and Stealth worked very well

My favorite times are when downed #2 actually saves me.

Once I was soloing a champion destroyer troll and I got myself cornered and downed. I used downed 2 and got out of the way and watched my clones hold off the troll while I rezed.

Also I love how I can still kite while immobilized.

In PvP, I am fighting 2 guys in water right next to ship and they down me, I hit down skill #2 and I find myself on the ship, away from their reach and res, this was a big lol.

Lol, shame that like 90% of the time it makes things WORSE. Itds way to broken in my opinion. Requires a target and can never tell whats going to happen. Could move you away or it could port you right into AoE (happens ALOT)

i was in some bl a looong time ago, just started shatter. There was a group of 8? idk they were all dancing on the rock outside the bl. I just killed someone chillin close to the spawn and went out to see them. The pointed and laughed at me since i was standing there. unlucky for them i was waiting on cooldowns. i knew i couldnt kill all of them at once so i got a gs. went gs s/t stealthed summoned, quickly switched back, jumped in and downed like 6 of them. and then.. about 25 people behind me come and get tags on the downs.

yknow even after seeing that, there wasnt even a “wow good job!” Q.Q its all i ever wanted. xD

I changed my build like two weeks ago and ive been really enjoying the solo capability of the mesmer class. Been having a lot of fun in 1vX situations, where normally I would be wary but I can like go ahead and tank three or four of them now. Particularly two fights was 1 v 2 warriors and 1 v 2 thieves, both classes which I am not too confident in engaging outside of 1 v 1, but haha that was too much fun, my health was up high most of the fight
