The “Heart of Thorns” expansion rumor is gaining traction
According to the above link, it seems likely that after this Living Story season ends, an expansion will be on the way. So why not make a wishlist in hopes that the devs may take a gander over here for some mesmer ideas. What are your thoughts on:

An item that eats Essence of Hype. It’s filling my inventory right now.
My weapon ideas:
Flute/Harp – Play melodies that would buff alies/debuff enemy players, could be a good lockdown weapon (awful melodies that make the enemies ears hurt making then stop all actions for a few seconds, you could also load it with confusion so we could have a lockfusion support build
Deck of Cards-Could have AOE damage (throw cards in the air and they fly around making some sort of storm or whatever)
Utility ideas
Illusion of Dwayna – Phantasm that heals people AOE or maybe a healing skill for us to use
Oooh so many wishes.
First- more weapon options. Main hand pistol. Short-bow. Focus main hand?
Second- A way to customize weapon skills. After 2 years, it feels weird to have such little flexibility with about half my skill set. There are many ways they could do this. Alternate ‘variations’ of each weapon (think Restoration vs Destruction staff in TESO). Or changeable versions of each skills similar to the Utility skills. Maybe more meaningful traits that change how a skill functions rather than minor percentage differences (Think "Winds of Chaos no longer bounces, but now deals 300 damage on hit and travels 50% faster). In short, I’d love some way to customize those skills in some way so my Greatsword Mesmer can play a bit different from another Greatsword Mesmer on the field. Or, at the very least, more customization would help me use the existing weapons in a few new situations.
Third- More meaningful trait lines. Or, alternately, some additional progression for my character at max level. Some traits are great- Illusory Persona, for example. However, I’d like some bigger, life-changing opportunities to help the professions branch out at max level. Things like “you do 50% less damage but your Phantasms each do 30% more” or “You gain 10% damage and 5% critical chance for each active clone. Clones automatically dissipate after 4 seconds.” I’d love a world where someone would be able to watch me play for a few seconds and say “oh. That is DEFINITELY an Inspiration mesmer.”
-Finally, new game types all across the board. Private, guild-only PvE zones with raid-style bosses/objectives. Rotating in additional WvW maps with unique objectives every few weeks. 10v10 PvP battlegrounds. ANet has done really great lately introducing new PvE map types- both the Season 2 zones are just phenomenal and SO different from what we’ve had before. I’d like this same attention brought elsewhere.
I suppose for each “wish list” there’s a parallel “fear list” or something. Things I’d be bummed about:
-A new, major, non-profession-related advancement system. I worry there’ll be some kind of “world mastery” line with its own point system. These class-neutral systems often tend to be generic and watered down. I don’t want to work for 5 hours doing 25 jumping puzzles for some boring “Explorer’s Endurance: +5 stamina” passive.
-Additional simplification for new players. Simplifying traits further, reducing skill complexity, or refusing to add new skills in order to avoid “confusing newer players” would be such a bummer. For a game that’s so long into its life cycle… experts are looking for some new places to grow as well.
-A single new profession at the expense of revisions to existing ones. Cosmetic Guild Halls at the expense of more content elsewhere. My fear is that they’ll focus their resources on things that won’t have a big impact on game play for the bulk of players. For me, the focus should always be on game play. I’d love guild halls, but I’d be disappointed if they chose to implement a cosmetic guild-hall system rather than adding some combat-oriented options instead.
In short… At its core, my character’s ability to interact with the world is expressed through the skill bar at the bottom of the screen. Anything that lets me use it in new ways, improve what it already does, and customize what’s on it that is going to be a welcome feature.

I don’t think we’ll get anything that says “Interrupts target” as interrupting is heavy CC on opponents during their skill. Therefore, it would be more reasonable to hope for more CC.
On that note, I’d like a domination trait that adds 1/4 daze to Mind Wrack, thus letting it interrupt.
More useful weapons of any sort.
More useful Utility of any sort.
More useful traits of any sort.
More ways to generate clones on-par with DE[Clone on interrupt, Clone on Weapon-Skill use, etc.].
I’m not picky, but the more they add, the more depth we get. I mean, if they just gave us things for our current builds, that’s no fun at all! I don’t want them to buff our builds[maybe a little], I want them to allow more builds to be meta to sub-meta.

Ive been thinking this days about the game having some magic cards on Necro,Ele,Mesmer to make AOE damage. The flute/Harp idea looks very nice too.
For mes (Interuppt/lockdown preferred) to get buffed and for everything passive/brainless to leave. I don’t care how. If its new weapons, trait buffs/reworks, new utilities, or any other way, I will be happy. If anything, new utility ideas for mes should be gw1 Mesmer skills

The best way they could logistically do this is to make portal ground targeted.

Last time we said this they “fixed” illusionary leap dead clone swap and now illusionary leap in air haha ^^
Mine? Hammer Mesmer to show those WvW heavies the place where they belong.

Mostly, I’d really like to wield pistol main hand.
After considerable roaming in WvW recently, I’d also like mesmer to have a skill similar to the Ranger’s “Sic ’Em.” I think that would help us level the field against thieves and other mesmers.

The portal range indicator shouldn’t be that hard to do.
They know when you’re out of range already since they have to know if they will let you go through the portal or not, the only thing they have to do is tell the game to swap portal icon to a different one (maybe a black and white icon) when you’re out of range.
It’s most likely not that simple though, but it shouldn’t be too hard.

Things i would enjoy seeing done.
Utility Redo’s and additions
Mantras – redo, too obtuse in current format
Mimic – redo it again
Illusion of Life – redo it, it sucks compared to all other res utilities in the game…
Signets – passives could do with some redo’s as could actives
Black out – bring this kitten back yo, disable all skills on both parties for x seconds. watch what happens to thieves or that invuln spamming bunker guard… (balance is what will happen)
Power Block – Remove the GM trait and bring this back as an Elite skill. Lock out 1 type of utility from the bar of anyone struck by this skill (if they have 3 of the same type then they should be SOL – looking at you Cantrip Ele)
Panic – Bring back clustered group punishment! interrupts for all the things that stand on top of one another, even in pve (use it against the players please).
New condition maybe? I would vote for Enfeebled (xx% chance to be interrupted if struck while using a skill)
Traits!
Please for the love of god get rid of all the “on down” “on res” and “while downed” garbage on every profession… replace them with something useful, no one wants to be more effective while downed at the cost of being less effective while up (this is bad game design guys)
Go look at the other classes traits and then look at ours, then look back at their and then ours and so on and so forth and repeat until you figure out that Mesmers probably need more passives in order to get onto the same platform as the other classes in this game. No they don’t need to be BS “clear all conditions when you summon a clone” just less micro management on kittened ICD and more boosts to raw effectiveness such as “all crits carry a 5% chance to interrupt a foes action” or something..
Less RNG, the game needs less of it as a whole and trying to base 1/3 of the class off of a luck in the numbers is very irritating, I’d really want this stuff reduced as much as is possible while still retaining the feeling of “getting lucky” without the more numerous moments of getting kittened because you never got any useful condition/boon that you needed.
New weapons! give us some options beyond what we have. Pistols, Bows, Shields, Maces, Daggers, War Fans, Day old Tuna, Sharp Sticks , Whatever! I don’t care what they are, as long as it gives me some more options in combat.
I would love to see a weapon that is almost fully CC (like a warriors hammer or any engi kit or a thief pistol) as much as i’d like to see a much more evasive and less predictable weapon. Not so much ports and Blur/standinonespotevading skills but more things like Swap, where you swap spots with your foe or take an attack up front and then evade while creating a phantasm/clone that repeats back the attack you took… or maybe it just lets you drop mother kittening auto lock and allows clones to be accidentally targeted by anyone over the age of 5…. really i’d just like the last one if you cant manage anything else anet…
More options like DE. If you’re going to tie us down to this mechanic and you’ve been paying attention at all over the past 2 years then you probably realize that DE is a huge problem and solution for both build diversity and viability. We need more options like it or we need the option to stop being an option and just have it as a base mechanic.
Healing Power scaling – fix this, its kittening terrible.
More Balanced options – It’s not often but sometimes i do want to tank and hold a point on my mesmer, i’d love to get even just 1 option to be able to do this as well as any engi/ele/guard/warrior does without having to spam all my evades and invulns just to have it decapped…
Hard/Soft Countering – Lets work on the fact that 1 class hard counters another to the point where it is no longer fun for either side and guide this imbalance towards the less frustrating area of Soft Counters where one side can have an advantage but the other can still outplay or build to be the one with the advantage and still be outplayed…
aka just learn to balance your professions and practice what you preach…
More Boon hate please – Top tier builds always, always, always have the ability to spam and stack boons. why cant we have the ability to spam and spam remove them just as fast? Or do more damage per boon on a target, or do damage when removing a boon etc..
More punishment in general, after the confusion nerf and Glamour apocalypse there just isnt much Punishment left in Gw2. Let’s get back on track for making people learn to Play smart or Get stomped when it comes to any match up, not just against a Mesmer (though i do think we should be the most dangerous for this stuff)…
Bug fixes – lets finish these up and actually get the entirety of the class working for once in it’s life shall we? Thank you..

Either kill DE or make something else to spam clones with. Virtually every build takes DE when those 20 points in dueling could probably be spent better somewhere else.
Actual Deception! Be it longer-lasting stealth, better clone AI, or just being hard to see/find.
More iLeap-Swap style abilities!
- for example, I would love to be able to trade places with one or any of my clones at will, it just seems like a very Mesmer-y mechanic to me. If I could take this as an elite skill with a short enough cd and an instant cast time, I totally would.

This was so so so fun to do! And they may not be balanced because hello bias. Hopefully I’ve covered options for both condition and power-based setups.
Main-hand pistol ideas:
Skill 1 –
2 attack chain.
‘Potshot’. Shoot the target applying one stack of vulnerability. (radius 120 on first shot)
‘Roulette’. Shoot the target three times, 30% chance of removing a boon with each shot.
Skill 2 -
Clone
‘Complicate’ Shoot the target twice, applying (x) stacks of confusion, and teleport 400 units behind them. (the potential for vertical travel with this is just woooaw). (10 second cooldown)
Skill 3 -
‘Aneurysm’ Hit your foe with the stock of your gun, dazing them and applying (x stacks) of confusion. Stun foe if they are already confused.
Off-hand shield:
Skill 5 -
Phantasmal Sentinel Conjure a phantasm that creates a protective bubble which negates projectiles (reflecting projectiles when traited with Warden’s Feedback I’m thinking) , granting protection and retaliation to nearby allies (radius 300 or so).
Skill 6 -
‘Price of Pride’
Create a field of energy at target area which disables the stamina regeneration of foes and applies Vigor to allies. Enemies take (x) damage for each boon on them (cumulative). 8 second duration. Pulses every second.
Off-hand dagger:
Skill 5 –
Phantasmal Saboteur Conjure a phantasm that throws a Dancing Dagger at your foe, bouncing three times, applying cripple and torment. (Affected by Illusionary Elasticity, attacks every five seconds).
Skill 6 –
Auspicious Parry Block (3s duration) the next melee attack against you. Regain all endurance and counter the attack by applying torment and cripple to all nearby foes (300 radius) and retreat backwards 600 units.
Utility stuff:
Energy Burn Target and nearby foes lose all stamina. If target has full stamina when this skill is activated, they are knocked down and suffer burning for (x) seconds. (Radius 300). Unblockable
Raise the boon-condition swap amount to five of each for Arcane Thievery
Mimic – Revert to old functionality. Mimic should absorb ALL attacks to hit the Mesmer in this state within a three second channel, which can then be unloaded onto a selected target in the form of a projectile that is dictated by the amount of damage ‘blocked/absorbed’ during the period of channeling. Can be activated instantly. (this is a total cream-my-pants fantasy though)
Trait stuff:
Combining existing traits into one e.g. Far-Reaching Manipulations & Master of Manipulation. Making Power-Block put attacks with no cool-down on a 5 second cool-down i.e. Thief skills and auto-attacks.
Removing a condition on yourself when proccing Bountiful Interruption, Chaotic Interruption removing 1-2 boons on interruption or 1-2 boons on daze and the like.
Mirror of Anguish negating a CC attempt and instead applying it to the enemy would be a huge QoL improvement (along with an icon showing you when Mirror of Anguish is up). Imagine how much help this would be against thief daze-steal.
Deceptive Evasion being a baseline mechanic of the Mesmer.
Reverting Chaos Armor and Blurred Frenzy (I had to put this in here honestly), as well as the Blinding Befuddlement trait. Chaos armor builds were a lot of fun before the patch ruined it for everyone.

Fixed it. seriously troll mesmers ruin the integrity of portals i have such a hard time getting people to take my portal that leads to the enemies back line and ac’s even as a commander its not even funny.

And another underrated fact.
If someone really uses the clones to their advantage (i.e. Body blocking) the survivability increases as well. Rylock manages to hide really well behind clones making him really a challenge to beat.
The clones soak up some damage and he blasts you at the same time.

It’s pretty safe to say that DE may not be “NEEDED” but it pretty much makes everything else better for having it.

I would really love a new trait system similar to the one that was in Mass Effect 3: you can trait certain skills or classes of skills, but there’s a tradeoff.
For example: increase the effectiveness of your conditions, but your skills have longer cooldowns. Increase damage on shatters, but lowers damage on phantasms (and vice-versa)…

I am not a Dev so I am not going to try to rewrite the Mesmer class for the Expansion (Which won’t happen even if I was a Dev), I will just list things I would like to see.
I would like to see a Spellbook weapon added. It should be useable by Mesmers, Guardians, Necromancers and Elementalists. The 1 skill should consist of the players waving their hand over the open book and tossing out a small spell. It was my favorite weapon in Aion, Robin from Fire Emblem has one and Leon from Star Ocean 2 used one. I don’t understand why people don’t use it more often. For Mesmers in particular I think the Spellbook weapon should offer either support or AoE damage.
Tweaks to the class in terms of weapons, I really would like the Torch’s Phantasm to be reworked. The Phantasm should hold a torch above his head and sparks should fly out around them. They should deal damage and apply Confusion. When traited each time it pulses it removes a condition from the Mesmer. I am not sure how others feel about the Scepter but I would like the Ether Clone to be removed. In many fights I try to not auto attack so that useful clones arent overwritten. Some other ability needs added in its place but not sure what.
Otherwise I really would like Weapon Skill customization. The original traits were supposed to customize the skills but it was too in depth and too confusing according to them, but I think if they added it to just the weapon skills it would offer more unique builds.

I’ve been a good Mesmer this year. I interrupt enemy stomps and don’t troll friendlies with indiscriminate knock backs and i never Mass Invis when we’re trying to cap a point. Somehow, you forgot me last Christmas. You can still make it up to me though. All i want for this xpac is a new melee weapon, a good one.
