Yes i’ve noticed too! I hated it so much, i want the old ones back! I’ve noticed they changed rending claws to 1 delay from 3/4. It was a horrible animation ever.
No, the animation change reduced the delay. Drastically increased the attack speed by seriously reducing the aftercast.
I dont like how they added twice hit at the end of the delay, why not add 1st hit on 1st delay then 2nd hit at end of the delay? that would be so much better
it feels weird. Especially when you’re using it and then use skill 2 its just like… um… okay?
You are making zero sense. Axe 1 hits once near the start, then once at the end of the 3/4 second cast. It is then followed by a .2 second delay.

I think its stronger now. It kinda feels that way. but I’m struggling with the animation. Its like I’m waving a fairy princess wand now and my warhorn vanishes when I use it.
Okay, now that I logged on post-patch, I see what you guys mean. Yeah, this is dumb.

Bug report it.
The animation looks horrible compared to what it was pre-patch which was very cool. Can also confirm the offhand weapon vanishing during the animations.
Hm. I kind of prefer the new animation, from a visual perspective. My Charr always looked like he was flailing when he used axe before. Now it’s a bit more under control. I wish they’d put a stronger carry-through on the backswing to emphasize the second hit, but eh.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.

I’m swinging my axe so it looks like I would hit the flat part of the axe. Its an unsatisfying animation to say the least. I don’t mind the overall change, its just the animation thats throwing me off as a human female.

Nice second red post in the necro forum since ages.
But Karl, while fixing the draw weapon exploit is certainly a good move, it makes an already bad weapon even worse…
I can totally understand removing motivation to do cancel-casting. However, the ability is pretty abominable to begin with.

Awesome, always hated the weird flailing animation. I did however love the animation on my Asura and I really hope it doesn’t look horrible now.
On Asura Necro the new Animation is a step back :-(
Normally there was a little jump on the AA if standing (not moving, on the 3rd AA), now its just boring swing to right… swing to left… swing to right…

Well, that is a real , real shame. Thanks for replying to concerns, but I’m pretty sad you chose to take a free flowing skill animation and make it clunky. Really feels like a dps drop though, def killing things slower than I was yesterday.
Feel annoyed I spent money on new skins etc for my necro for a change which wasn’t expected. Feels like our fun is taken away just because a few ppl cheated with an exploit

Well atleast i like the current animation a lot better (on charr). The old one was like using a duster, the new one looks more brutish.
Regarding slower killing speed. There is another thread and people in it are discussing another bug that came with the change.
It seems like the old animation took 0.95s with aftercast to finish and the new one takes 1.2s. So that would explain your longer killing time.

haha that’s even stranger because it is the opposite on humans. It’s now like fly swatting instead of a brutal flourish. I do actually like how races can have different animation effects.

Well, the animation has lost a lot of uniqueness~ but on the bright side I probably wasn’t much of a fan for the weird body twisting swing it previously was for my Sylvari.
Oh god its so awful on humans. What am I doing with my left hand, and why did I forget how to use my elbow?
Can we have a “range fix” adressed too ?

I made Frostfang. Thankfully, the new charr animation does look good. Doesn’t match the effects, but it looks good.

I use it as a secondary to mainhand dagger when I can’t get close enough. If you’re going to be kiting almost endlessly or risk downing, Axe is superior to mainhand dagger for DPS. However in the same instance, Life Blast is far more superior than Axe. :p

That was fixed quite a while ago, you can still stow the weapon if you feel like it but it doesn’t give you the extra healing anymore and it definitely doesn’t add damage.
Should fix mesmers being able to do it to proc air fire more often.

But is the animation final? That animation looks like every single kind of AWFUL. My human female necro looks like she is waving a fan while repeatedly elbowing herself in the side of the head.
So axe strikes are done by waving the weapon with flat side (even moving it horizontally) and back? And what is the offhand? It looks stupid in my opinion.
The animation is horrible, and If you wanted to fix such a thing, how about making the auto attack not as luckluster in damage to begin. Most people did the glitch because they were unhappy with it. Now everyone who uses it has lower DPS and a crappy animation due to this change. My Frostfang feels less and less worth using now.
edit: I should note that someone needs to go over the timing of Unholy Feast. even that feels slower.

Just looks ridiculous… Offhand dissapearing is annoying. Some how, charrs got the best of this for once, the animation suits charr… My human female is just combing her hair casually while attacking. :/

yeah we need the old back right now! My asura animation looks so ridiculous, i like the old ones that my asura can spin around and attack was really cool. A lot of people are complaining here, we need it back ANET!
