Hi guys,
Im a new player who is familiar with MMO’s but not Guild Wars, ive been playing for a few days now so im still confused on a few things but I think im getting the hang of it.
Anyways for the build, I could really use some opinions from more seasoned players:
(updated)
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fQMQNAW3djQah7ZaWa07JAJFX/80DuHX8IFBPMA
Im currently leveling but plan to use this build for endgame aswell, ill most likely do mostly PvE but I might drop into PvP once in a while aswell.
The point of my build was to be quite tanky due to self heals while still doing decent damage both single and AoE, focusing as little as possible on conditions or death shroud.
Any thoughts/suggestions would be awesome!

http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNArYWjMaN7xbub8bKApCPPV47oHHTcyUKKndA;TsAAzCpoay0koJbTumkNt8YUxcBA using this atm for heavy condition damage. There are a few points there that i could use. Retaliation after using DS and Heal but ill guess ill work that for a Power Necro based on the famous Juggermancer.

*btw these link usually say bad link. so copy and paste unto the url bar.
this is based around fear. its just for fun. also i tried to make it so that there wouldnt be much changes when going underwater.
for example: 33% longer condi dmg with scepter is kinda usless underwater since im not holding a scepter. the only thing i couldnt help is the trait that increases marks. i really like that trait along with last grasp.
master of terror trait can be taken out and 5 points can be put into curses for the grandmaster trait.
PM me with improvements please.

Can we wipe this thread clear and start new since you can now see more stats like condition damage that haven’t been visable before?
Here’s a guide I wrote for Power Necromancers running a Dagger/Focus setup:
Can we wipe this thread clear and start new since you can now see more stats like condition damage that haven’t been visable before?
You could always see every stat (excluding life force addition), if you hovered the different stats a pop up menu would show relevant stats. Condi dmg was under attack power if I recall correctly, and crit dmg was under precision.
Anywho, this is my build:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-1_-33JGlHFJ0p3FJVy2;9;4JO9-E45-31-1;31;0V;04V7X7F-03F-036ZFv
I switch utilities around every now and then, I sometimes switch WoC with BiP or spectral grasp (if I do this I also switch my master trait to reduced corruption recharge). And yes, believe it or not, I actually equip Norn Racial – Become the Snow Leopard in Wv3, it allows me to overextend and it has saved my butt more times than I can count just these last two days where I’ve tried to use it. I do switch leopard to lich if I see the opportunity to wreak some havoc
Spite master trait I sometimes switch with I, VII, X – depending on how I’m feeling or what I forsee I’ll need.
Curses master trait I’ll sometimes switch to VII, if I’m taking out the WoC and taking grasp or BiP instead. When on walls defending I’ll take IX and switch in wells for ranged dmg.
The armor shown is as accurate as it will allow me to, in Wv3 I have full PVT armor with superior runes of the pack.
My backpiece is also PVT, Amulet and earrings are knights while accessory is rampager’s. I have ruby jewels in all of these except one, where I have the 25prec 15 tough, 15 power.
Weapons are Staff – Carrion / Dagger – Rampager / Dagger – beserker
(sigils are as shown in builder – with the exception of the sigil of blood that is actually sigil of generosity to get rid of conditions)
All in all, I’ve got 3100 power (bit more with staff, bit less with daggers out), 46% crit chance (49 with food), 35% crit dmg, 2200 armor (IIRC – 1600 or so tough).
I use omnomberry pie (or the less expensive one) for more precision and life steal, and sharpening stones for more power.
This build is both sustainable, it deals very good dmg and it is highly enjoyable.
You might wonder, why dagger/dagger and the reason is, while focus might be fine and dandy, when a thief pops into stealth you can’t target him, so it’s good to have some aoe with your dagger out. Additionally, dagger 5 gives 2 stacks of bleed for nice damage AND it gives weakness! Dagger 4, let’s not forget it transfers a condi and blinds as well.
I crit for 2500 or so in death shroud so thats not bad, with stacking of might per shot.
It’s not a full beserker build so the dmg is lower, however sustainability is higher I feel.
Anyways, this is my build, if you have questions feel free to PM me.
It’s been a LONG time since I theory-crafted my necro build before BWE1, but here is my up-to-date build as of today!
I present to you, The ‘Jack of all Trades’ Survivomancer(click for traits and weapon choices):
This is a build I came up with while leveling. It’s a very simple build that works really well when solo as well as really well in dungeons. Not so much in PvP however.
First and foremost, the Signet is situational in this sense: When solo, use locust, when grouping, use undeath. Obviously the locust one is for getting around when solo-ing but the undeath one is extremely useful in groups since there’s a good chance you will be the last one not in downed state.
Spectral Grasp: Sure, you are giving up some amount of dps for this skill, but honestly, this skill is one crazy kitten mother kittener of a skill! It can pull single enemies from groups without aggroing the entire group. In solo play, a SG can save you from having to always fight major encounters(even though with this build you would be able to stroll though them anyways).
Corrosive Poison Cloud: Weakness. Not just any weakness, AREA weakness. and Poison. Do I need to explain any further? Yeah? sigh Weakness makes enemies hit softer, poison makes them heal 33% less. I had this skill in my build way before I left MM for this one. Highly effective skill, and the pros far outweigh the cons.
Well of Blood: since this build is mostly derived around supporting you and your team, I thought this well would be a good idea, and so far has not proven me wrong. It’s saved plenty a team in fractals.
Lich form because its kittening OP as kitten! especially when a mesmer see’s you in it and casts Time Warp on you. ALL THE DAMAGE!!! Lich form + swiftness is 4x, FOUR TIMES STRONGER THEN THE STAFF! Keep that in mind since next to the dagger main hand, staff is your strongest weapon imo.
Traits: Increased bleed duration, greater marks(req.) Death Shroud buffs, faster signet recharge, siphon all the health when you hit kitten and faster recharge on your heal. All in all this is a GREAT build for any necro looking to fully support their team in any dungeon or keep themselves alive during Solo play.
May Grenth protect you! GL HF GG
PS: all armor and stat bonus’ I leave up to you the community. I can’t tell you how to play the game, but I can show you a really good build that’s worked for me for a long time. It’s not strong in any one section, but its not weak in any either. Its the Jack of all Trades Survivomancer build.
TheRavingNecromancer.tumblr.com
this is my build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQEQNBmQDbkQrSvTTUjfTBIp46nnUQ+4QFuNSBxLD-jQxAsCEeAQFtIasaZAzNAA-e
it’s made for PVE because i simply don’t PVP, the build is for necro’s who want to survive large zergs of enemies.
it’s mainly based on the staff because it’s the most powerful that way, you can control an enemy trough fear and chill while letting your flesh horror take attention.
when stronger enemies get annoying you simply knock them down and the entire group with them, you can then get closer and cast well of darkness.
against champions it’s best to blind them first before attacking, then cast well of suffering to do a massive portion of damage and finish it with mark of blood, regenerating your flesh horror and bleeding the champion.
up until now it’s really rare for me to get damage in the first place, any enemy i face is nothing more then a play toy and i have plenty of space to get away when it really becomes dire. (like an overwhelming zerg)
cheers

Here is my crit/powermancer:
It focuses on stacking weakness and hitting with lots of crits. The wells doing crits all the time does an insane amount of damage and since the Axe and Focus buffs they do crazy damage too.
I use it well in Dungeons, general PvE, PvP and WvW. Swap out the wall for condition removal well when needed. You can also use the healing well instead of consume conditions but I like the lower cooldown.
I have a couple of builds that I use at the moment.
My first is a dagger/warhorn PVE build focused around wells and vampirism traits. I posted the build long ago on the Guru site and the thread has almost 100,000 view and a lot of discussion so far.
The build – http://tinyurl.com/necropowermancer
The discussion – http://tinyurl.com/pmdiscussion
The second is one I created after watching some of Nem’s videos and his glass cannon build. It is fairly new and still working on it. There might be ones nearly identical to it out there, so if you run something like it I would love some feedback!!
The build – http://tinyurl.com/necrogcbuild
The discussion – http://tinyurl.com/necroglasscannon
Your second one Tak is very similar to the one I just posted. Can I ask why you chose the signet and blood is power on a build that doesn’t have great cond damage? I rolled that way for a while but the extra well for extreme AOE damage and the third slot for wall/utility skills seemed to do more damage and be more helpful in dungeons.
Yea, the second one is a work in progress somewhat.
Blood is Power I chose for the Might stacks. I have Master of Corruption traited to reduce the time between the stacks falling off and being reapplied to only 3s. I also am in and out of Death Shroud using Life Transfer and Life Blast (also traited to apply Vulnerability and Might). The goal is as much uptime on Might as possible which significantly boosts your damage.
The signet is flexible and I switch it out depending on what I am doing. I will use Well of Corruption for AOE and Wall if no other class is there that can apply vulnerability faster (rare though…). Signet just gives a nice static boost to power if it is going to be a long boss fight where other utilities won’t do much good and/or the boss moves too much for wells to be of much use beyond maybe 1 tick.
Just comparing with yours… I don’t go with targeted wells unless I am actually going to be ranged with a staff. I put my well down and keep them inside the well by kiting the mob within it (obviously not going to work in pvp heh). I also rarely go for weakness. It’s more defensive to me, and useful yes, but I am looking for damage output and not survivability. It is only a 25% chance and would be the only survivability item you have… you could pick up Spectral Attunement since you are using spectral skills and gain life force faster through that.
(edited by Takarazuka.3025)
The targeted wells works far too well in WvW and Dungeons to drop imo. The only spectral skill I take is the wall and even that is situational so I didn’t see the point and as my crit % in game is usually over 75% after food + you attack often and quickly with this build the weakness is usually either up on the target or on internal cooldown.
Will try the corruption and blood is power for the might, that is a good tip cheers, it also gives me something to replace the weakness with.
How did you get the downtime of might to be only 3s? Even traited the same as you with runes that lengthen might duration it is about 10s.
I do switch to targeted wells sometimes in dungeons, but on boss fights they are nearly useless unless the boss doesn’t move at all. My major traits and utilities are always changing depending on the fight.
I just realized what I did on the Might duration… I was looking at notes on a boon duration setup I was working on. This increased the duration of Might from BiP from 12s to ~21s (I forget how the rounding works). Traited BiP has a 24s cooldown so.. 3s. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with this build since you have to go all the way down Death Magic as well as picking up various runes to get up to 80% boon duration. NruJaC on GW2Guru was doing this… looked interesting so I wanted to play around with it… got them all mixed up in my head lol.
I have been trying to make a necro AoE & team healing wvw hybrid build. Here is what I got. Copy and paste the link into your browser directly.
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-1_-30GK0IkB0G4sJVy2;9;5JJT;238-14-287;17;02BRV8nBnBnBnB9cFu
This build packs pretty much all the AoE skills and traits of the necro into one build. This build is versatile in different situations. And when the fight gets rough, use snow leopard to escape.
Everything should be pretty straight forward. Use staff marks and utilities AoE skills from a distance. If there are enemies nearby, use dodge+DS in/out for additional damage (Weakening Shroud+Mark of Evasion). Use Scepter +warhorn if you want to hunt down an enemy.
For team healing, use your well of blood and DS in/out. I didn’t have room so I left out Transfusion, the weakest link. It doesn’t scale with healing and you can’t even heal yourself with it.
The runes and sigils are not set in stone. You can use whatever you like. I found Dwayna rune and Life Sigil are the best for healing. Undead rune and Corruption Sigil are best for condition damage. etc.
This build has been extremely consistent in wvw for me. It gives good results and gives good badges. Hope it works out for you too. ^^

Minion based build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQRBHhhG1IhWterm1G9eCQSR0UPpwbwhecLuSD;TwAg0CnoKyUkoIbRuikFtuYcx2gpBA
Ill just post my recently found build which im very happy about, it gives me 4 minions in total + the spectral grasp for getting enemies close and keeping them close (also good vs necros/mesmers/ele’s for the skill CD)
Further i have enough vitality/toughness to survive and im using alot of siphoning to keep my hp up all the time.
Further i have really viable crits ghastly claws and life siphon do a sick amount of damage, combined with my pets attacks making opponents die pretty quick.
Last but not least thx to my runes of lyssa i have every 48seconds together with summoning my flesh gollem/using his skill a complete condition remover + all possible boons on top of it.
Until now i have not lost any 1v1 situation since there is a counter for nearly every class.
Now I am become DEATH, The Destroyer of Worlds!
Another Well Bombing build.

Gear – You like to making ****??? BERZERKER (ok you can mix in some soldiers for survivability too)
Some target WvW stats:
3400 power
2000 armor
60% crit (after sigils, food, oils, buffs)
50% base crit dmg.
20K + hp
To get there I use Rune of the Pack set + Sigil of accuracy and sigil of perception also Maintenance oil and precision food.
Also, your primary weapons are dagger/focus and staff.
Now for the but whys.
This build is meant for WvW, hence world destroyer. Thus it needs a smidgen of survivability. You get that from life steals and lots of vitality. Also why I focus on shroud buffs. Shrouding is for defense. You can still get 3-4k crits with it, but mainly its for staying alive. Now why dagger focus? Best burst a necro has. Focus 4, when you are by yourself, can do close to 4k damage and does it while you auto attack. Throw in well of suffering and well of corruption and boom, that is 4 separate sources of simultaneous damage + lifesteals. Also Focus 5 is great for gap closing to get in range for immobilize. It can also do big damage if it strips 3 boons. (3k ish crit with my stats)
So there is your basic burst. Wells + Focus 4 + autoattack = some one is going to die. Now lets add flavor. Lets say there are multiple targets nearby. As soon as wells and focus are done, shroud and use shroud 4 for more aoe goodness. Lets say you are fighting a zerker warrior and you absolutely must stay away from him. Ok…use your CC in reverse. Use Focus 4/5, Dagger 2/3, kite and mix in some life blasts for good measure. If hes chasing you, make him walk through wells to do it. I have turned fights against HB warrs this way. They’re all kitteny dunder heads that happily walk through wells while chilled. Now Don’t forget your staff. Lets say you ran into a condition necro. Let him get his stack on you while you melee him. Then switch to staff and give all his conditions back to him. go back to melee and kill him before he can pass the hot potatoe back.
Weakness: know them. You have epic burst, not epic pressure. If your burst fails, don’t feel bad to kite or run away. Second, you lack mobility, which is endemic for necros. Being a glass necro means if you get caught ‘out of posistion’ you are insta dead.
And again…you are squishy! People are going to notice when they hit you and get that BIG number. Seeing that makes them hard and they will remember those sexy numbers coming out of your head. As such you need to be careful, so that you don’t suddenly have all your ‘admirers’ spraying you with their dps love.
Here is a build video with a bit of kill footage.

Loved it. Thank you! Rocks in sPVP! Except i replaced spectral grasp with signet of the locust – extra movement speed is just more useful to me.

Vengeful Cleric
Update 5/4/13 – I am using Exquisite Azurite Jewels (“Sentinel”) instead of Crests of the Soldier, for about 660 more health with only a loss of 30 Power. Unfortunately, the gw2buildcraft site is not yet updated to include Sentinel equipment.
Motivation:
I have been running a Rabid condition build almost exclusively since launch. But some recent posts (see below) got me to thinking about a different mindset that would address some issues with the condition build, such as damage to structures and better single-target DPS. I wanted a build which offered me several things for PVE:
- survivability, including passive healing
- ranged attacks
- useful boons for group event utility
- ability to swap functionality by swapping traits without respeccing
- ability to do damage to structures
- good single-target damage but also good AOE
- low-ish cost
The Vengeful Cleric provides all of the above. Although it can be retraited to use wells, I prefer the BiP+Epidemic combination for AOE damage, and Locust signet for mobility. Epidemic also lets me leverage conditions placed by other players, so it acts as a “force multiplier”. This combination of skills lets me move around freely without having to put myself wherever I might want to drop a well.
The use of cleric gear (HP/P/T) provides the three components for survivability, single-target & structure damage, and group boons, as well as being low cost on the TP. (I used Mhenlo’s armor.) The Soldier crests (P/V/T) are quite inexpensive but cumulatively make the build tankier and stronger.
This build was inspired by Dr Spook’s Sacred Ground build, and s h i z o’s build:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Dr-Spook-s-Sacred-Ground-Build/1753172
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/Full-healing-vit-toughness-build/1778191
In summary, it is a (comparatively) inexpensive build, yet seems to be quite resilient, flexible and effective. I am finding it to be a very enjoyable and potent all-rounder for soloing and events. I use it for PVE, so I can’t speak to its applicability to PvP or WvW.
Gear:
Weapons: Cleric scepter with Sigil of Bloodlust(e.g., Tsunami)/Cleric dagger with Sigil of Agony + Cleric staff with Sigil of Force
Armor: Cleric with Dwayna runes (e.g., Mhenlo’s Armor)
Trinkets: Cleric
Trinket upgrades: Crest of the Soldier Exquisite Azurite Jewels
Consumables: Plate of Orrian Steak Frittes and Superior (or Hardened) Sharpening Stone
Traits
Traits are 20/0/25/25/0. This allows good synergy via Death into Life (5% power to healing), Deadly Strength (5% toughness to power) and Blood to Power (5% more dmg when health over 90%). Also, traits can be swapped to support wells or minions or group healing as needed without respeccing. However, traits could be easily modified to variants such as 30/0/20/20/0 or 10/0/30/30/0.
Utilities
Rather than wells, I prefer a more mobile style where I can move quick, dodge around, and spread the love with BiP and Epidemic. Even though it is a power build, BiP still packs a wallop and it also provides an additional 350 power from the might boon for almost 19 sec. The third utility is the Locust signet, and I swap it out situationally.
Survival
Thanks to the toughness, Bloodthirst and Vampiric traits, along with high regen, this has good survivability. With Staff Mastery, Mark of Blood is 4.75 sec recharge, and with 25% boon duration the regeneration from it lasts 6.25 sec, so you can have essentially constant regen + siphoning of 330+ per sec total. This helps to stay above 90% health for that extra 5% dmg. The high regen also helps keep minions such as Flesh Wurm alive and even the Jagged Horror can last for quite awhile, defying its degen. Clearly, a full PVT-with-well-siphoning build can have more survivability, but this suffices for my needs, and offers more support ability.

I actually did my build in the form of a video, it covers around 4 different tPvP condition builds and goes over everything from traits, runes, sigils and rotations. Hope you guys like these builds.
http://www.youtube.com/GibblyGaming
http://www.twitch.tv/giibbly
I’ve been playing with this build on my necromancer for PvP recently.
Only change I made was swapping the Summon Flesh Wurm for Well of Suffering for extra bit of AOE damage and vulnerability.
Butterfly Sonata – Mesmer (80)
Can’t wait for the Revenant! :)
this build is all conditions. mainly blood.
my rotation sceptor skill #2, #5, BiP, #4, #3, switch to staff, and burst with all the marks.
a single mob is usually dead without needing the staff, but for groups and veterans use well of blindness so you’re untouchable and health gain and epidemic to spread everything (or use plague)
i’ve leveled to 60 with this build so far so i don’t know how it holds up end game but i rarely die and have taken out groups of 6+ plus in pve. (it’s fun to see all the constant damage ticks)
assuming i stick with this build once i hit 80 i do need help with gear/armor/sigils/runes as this is the first char i actually stuck with in the long run without deleting/remaking. so any help or suggestions or feedback is helpful

Structured PvP Build****
Been having fun with this build lately.
Honestly it’s a good, solid, all-around build especially if you run solo a lot, as I do. It’s not a great at anything build, but moreso a “jack of all trades” build imo.
A combination of Condition, Fear, and Bunker.
Spite 10 – Trait 5, gain retalition for 3s when entering ds.
Curses 10- Trait 6, Fear deals damage, and it deals and additional 50 damage if the target has another condition on them
Death Magic 20- 2, Increases area of marks, and marks become unblockable. 5 staff skills recharge 20 faster.
Soul Reaping 30- 2, life force drains 25% slower. 10, marks generate 3% lifeforce when triggered, 11, gain stability for 3s when entering ds.
Staff – Sigil, Hydromancy
Scepter/Dagger Sigil (Scepter) Agony, (Dagger) Geomancy
Runes- Undead (6)
Amulet- Carrion
Skills:
Healing: Consume Conditions
Utility 1: Plague Signet
Utility 2: Signet of the Locust
Utility 3: Corrupt Boon
Elite: Flesh Golem
Overall:
Solid build. Very good at bunkering down. 3sec relatiation/stability when entering DS really makes a big difference to prevent lockdown.
Good condition transfer with plague signet, and putrid mark, and dagger#4.
Fears deal damage, so #5 staff is a viable damage skill as well as cc, and if you combine it right with corrupt boon, staff#4, staff#5, DS #3, you can really chain fear and just about cc nuke a player out of any point.
Corrupt Boon is almost a must have. Works very good when someone tries to boon up. And, considering how common I see players with a full Lyssa rune set, it really puts the hurt on them when they use their elite.
Signet of Locust is very nice mainly for a little extra mobility. Necro class is terrible in that aspect, any extra run speed you can scrap up can really make a difference.
Flesh Golem is just better if you plan to solo. Charge is an extremely strong skill, especially when the the opposing team is packed up in a zerg ball….you can knockback everything in it’s path. Plus the golem deals a decent amount of dps.

The purpose was to maximize my 2 on demand terror fears.
As a result they last 1,75 second each, deal damage and have a relatively short cooldown. At first I was running plague signet, corrupt boon and epidemic while taking weakening shroud instead of well targeting. Apparently I suck horribly at landing corrupt boon so I decided to change plague signet and corrupt boon to well of suffering and well of corruption which are amazing and take advantage of my power stat. I kept epidemic but on top of sucking to land it, the mid fight on legacy of foefire is not very friendly to epidemic and I was missing a stunbreaker. I chose the wurm since I can hide it in a distance and it is going to be my “oh kitten” button. Golem is mostly there for the knockdown. The wells can be used to secure kills on downed enemies or help your allies when they are downed which sometimes is a lot more effective then corrupt booning one target.
I know I went 30 into SR and didn’t take the 5 second DS or stability but my aim was to get the master of terror trait and if I don’t take soul marks my LF generation sucks. My marks are also on reduced CDs.

Its made for Dungeons and WvW. Mostly survivability in focus. Everything you need to know is in the link above. Also a video showing it in action

This is a pretty standard fearmancer build. Most people like to go for some power dps etc. But I’m quite fine with condi control and support. Staff #5 and 3&4 for good combo for extra dmg. When knocked down, fear, when downed, fear, number 2 downed move is a fear, and occasionally switch to D/S for #2 fear.
pretty basic, effective at controlling that oversized warrior about to knock you down for example.
My hybrid build that I stumbled upon shortly after getting mauled by the mobs in Cursed Shore way back when.
Note: I do switch out Plague Signet for whatever utility I need at the given time.
With the new patch I use the following.
Full knights armor, with ruby orbs. Cavalier amulet and accessory, knights rings, all with exquisite emerald jewels.
30/20/0/0/20
Focused talisman, axe training and dhuumfire.
Weakening shroud, terror
Spectral mastery or path of midnight (but it’s bugged and doesn’t affect DS#5 atm) and master of terror.
Consume conditions, spectral wall, spectral walk, locust signet, and plague.
Terror dmg is just there for added dmg, however, note with the changes to DS fear, if you’re within 600 range you fear for over 2 seconds (due to 30 spite and master of terror) which does nice dmg (a possible of 3 ticks)!
I’ve tried it out and so far I’m in love with this, and since wall also fears and does dmg, there’s both defense and offense.
Even defeated a burst thief thanks to spectral wall, since I could hide behind it!
Anyways, try it and you’ll see what I mean
For me, the new patch was the new beginning for necro.
My new build (for PvE, solo and group play) is centered around DS; solid survivability alongside (for necro) outstanding DPS.
Armor goes full valkyrie (power, vitality, % crit dmg) with 6 divinity runes, accessories are full celestial, zerker backpack. Vitality provides an extra life force pool boost, high survivability outside DS and precision is not needed, since crit chance outside DS oscillates at around 30%, in DS is + another 50%.
Traits are 30/10/0/0/30
Spite 30: reapers might (life blast gives might); axe training (20% more axe dmg, 20% faster recharge); close to death (20% more dmg against <50% hp)
Curses 10: reapers precision (33% chance for 1% life force on crit)
Soul reaping 30: unyielding blast (life blast pierces and causes vulnerability); whatever; deathly perception (50% higher crit chance in DS)
As weapons, I use Axe/Focus main, Dagger/Dagger 2nd (considering staff). Valkyrie stats. Utilities are 1. Blood is Power 2. Spectral Armor 3. Well of suffering. Healing skill is ofc Consume Conditions. Also, I didn’t find an elite skill that would make a difference, so go with whatever you like.
With good setup (fury, +-15 vulnerability, 20 might stacks) I have seen regular 10k hits from axe #2 burst, without any preparation it goes for around 5,5-6k.
DS #1 is pure awesomeness, as it is basically a 5k piercing auto-attack that gives might and stacks vulnerability. DS #4 is just a 5-7k aoe
Dagger has a good use for quick life force recovery, or for condition cleanse or mass weakness, also has around 4k auto chains (no preparations).
Chains are 1. Blood is power, 2. Reapers touch, 3.Ghastly claws, 4. Pop DS, 5. Own 6. Pop out of DS 7. repeat
All of this is complemented with extremely big life force pool that can be recovered in matter of seconds and 26k HP.
Will post updates if I find something can be done better, feel free to suggest any improvements!

EPIC BUILD!
I really like it! But trick with condition necromancer is epidemic, not fear. Terrormancer uses fear :P There should be more work on your build…
Using it right now!

I’m not quite sure what your point is. Fear is a condition, making use of it as a conditionmancer is only natural.
Epidemic is second on the list in my build and if you want to reduce its cooldown by a mere 3 seconds you can. It makes no difference in my build and I included it as one of the alternative traits.
I’m glad you seem to be enjoying my build. If you have any suggestion for improving on it I’ll be glad to hear them.
High uptime Death Shroud build that makes us of my favorite mechanic for the Necro. Not a min/max build, and definitely not for PvP, but still lots-o-fun.
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/84336-specter-of-death-build/
Power Minion build (based off of nemesis’s GC Necro)
Things to note:
3.2k Attack
2.6k Armor (Not much, but with boons from runes and Death Shroud, it is plenty)
94% Crit Chance in DS
100% Crit Damage
40% Condi Duration for Fear/Chill. Can put 25 stacks of vulnerability on a single target
Used to use spec walk instead of shadow fiend, but it is not good for running or building life force anymore so what is the point. The new Spectral Grasp is good if you don’t like the fiend.
The buffed shadow fiend gives you 11% LF with it’s active skill and you get 11 more when it dies from AoE/whatever. It is also ok for blinding the enemy since you can cast it’s active as you stomp someone.
No other traits are wasted on minions. They are extra targets and a slight boost in dps, but I WANT my enemies to kill the golem and the fiend. Not the wurm. The wurm you hide for the stun breaker.
AoE boon/condition removal. Good for group fights.
Works in PvP. (Valkyrie amulet w/ berserker jewel)
Can tank while in DS.
Warriors aren’t countered with this build so you will just have to l2p against them. That is true for any good player of any class as well. But the tips below might help new necros.
Signet of rage / Spinal Shivers = 7s of chill trololol
Guards have too many ways to get boons, but those skills also have a long cd. Scare them into using them early then remove/wait out stability, Golem charge, stack vulnerability with focus 4, axe 2, DS for Life Blast spam. GG. Boon removal really cuts through their ability to tank.
Condi classes like Necros/Engis/ can only condition burst you a few times and your elite and heal basically counter two of those bursts. Then you use the well for free boons and just crit the kitten out of them while they are on cds. Bleed thieves are just free vigor if well of power is off cd…
Elementalist do not have as many boons as guards so you can just strip them all and murder their faces if they don’t run away from you/once they pop all their fancy invulnerable skills.
Other Necro’s are usually condition so if you are both in DS they almost always fall out of it b4 you do since you have more raw dmg.
A tanky phantasm mes beats almost anything 1v1 really, but if they are not tanky or running away you will melt them b4 they can burst through DS. Axe 3 in the clones for 10+ seconds of retal, Focus 4 might bounce to the real one even if you aim at a clone. Axe 2 on the mesmer or a phantasm gives you Life force either way. DS 5+4 will kill all clones. If he doesn’t have any invis left spam LB. Save Doom for stopping mass invis/his heal. GG.
Rangers…. idk enough about them honestly… They have changed alot. Another l2p against class, at least for me.
Thieves are honestly a pain, you have to surprise them with high damage before they think they need to disengage. They will think you are condition based so save your real damage till they are at half. No matter who they are, opening with the golem charge and then using focus 4, axe 2, and then going into Death shroud puts them in a horrible position. Save doom for interrupting Hide in Shadows. Two Life Blasts while they are feared from their heal usually kills a thief, but it is all about timing. Did he blow his stun breakers yet? DS 5+4 does great damage to anything around you whether you can see it or not. Wurm has lower cd than basilisk venom so it isn’t usually a problem in 1v1, though I think that them being able to steal and get Fear Me! which is a slot skill for Warriors but with almost half the cd is stupid.
A lot of people like the Condition FOTM builds and hey more power to them, but power is FAR more entertaining, so even if it is seen as not as useful as the meta I like big numbers, not lots of little ones. I think right now necros are one of if not the hardest class to play. No “Time out for 3s” or cheap “Get out of jail free cards” and honestly even with all the info above, whether you win or not is going to depend on your opponent. You can only capitalize on the mistakes of your opponents. Mistakes in their gameplay and mistakes in their build. But that is what high level PvP SHOULD be like!
As long as you are not outnumbered and play smart you have the LF regen and toughness to take on anyone. You just can’t get away. You have to kill everything that refuses to run away from you. But that is more a problem with Necros in general and not just my build.

I just hit the 30s on my necro. Running staff/scepter/warhorn.
I took 10 pts to get wells targetable and 10 to increase speed in DS 25%
Slots are the wells that pulse dmg and spectral walk.
I stay alive for hours using Swarm and Spectral walk to stay fast and keep and close distance against zergs. Spectral walk is the best infiltration tool in the game. I use it to jump down on zergs, pop off 2-3 on staff and the two wells then return back to where I jumped.
I choose scepter because of the aoe cc on 2 and the kill move on 3. Just tab to someone who has conditions stacked and it does a lot!
Using spectral walk all the time really gives the mobility necro needs to attack from diff angles in WvW.. I don’t see how anyone plays without it. The 30 sec swiftness alone is worth it.
Conditions AOE build. Very effective imo. Playing since day one on this guy. This is the best build I’ve got.

WvW build:
18k well burst, 2600 armor. Chilling darkness plague because OP is OP, even though lich is more fun :P
Throw marks, gain LF. Drop wells, go deathshroud, 100% crit for 5 seconds while your wells tick, 109% crit damage. Life transfer. 18k damage, max 5 targets. 34s recharge on the combo. Switch to consume if you’re using waterfields. Add hammer guard and focus mesmer for ‘my wells have 600 radius and you can’t get out of them’ shenanigans if you’re on comms with a small group. Guard needs two handed mastery.
I’ll have the laurels for this next month, should I do it? I don’t wvw much, but I pve even less, so might as well use the laurels on something. I’ll probably never get the backpiece though >.<

When playing in the starting bracket for solo queue, I went back and updated an old build that is highly suited to ‘average skill’ games. It’s easy to play and very durable. Low damage but the damage/durability balance is enough to 1v1 spirit rangers who are trying to hold a point so it’s not bunker low obviously, since spirit rangers are fairly durable themselves. The damage gets a lot better vs opponents who don’t really understand positioning so you can pressure multiple guys at once. Good sustain, well suited to 1vX fights depending on the classes you’re facing, so you can carry a little bit despite necro mobility. Just unfair vs anyone relying on burst, but weak to rangers if they don’t need to stand on point, and like everything, weak to endless CC chains. Not ideal for fighting other necros either.
Someone just asked about it again so I figured I’d post it up. It’s not a ranged build, don’t play it like one. Around half your damage is pbaoe, so get in their face.

Still wouldn’t mind some advice on that WvW build above
