Support Necro tips
Support Necro is unviable, except for one build I have that I’m keeping top secret.
Necro healing is not so good. I tried making one and was humbled by other professions. If you want to play support, go full conditions with wells and staff and scepter/dagger along with epidemic. Even if you do not do much damage, tossing condition AoE everywhere is like covering the ground in mud. It takes away a lot of mobility for the other server and leaves players open to high dps attacks.
Support Necro lays down cover-fire that does very little damage but can seriously mess up the enemy’s battle plan if your group has the dps to take advantage of the opponents’ reduced mobility.

The Necro doesn’t hold candle to the Ranger and Engineer in the role you explained.
I agree. Does not mean there is any other kind of support role. Maybe operate siege?
Rangers and engineers don’t have plague form with chilling darkness.

Plague + chilling darkness, shaman gear with WoB, healing traits (WoB on picking up downed is amazing), greater marks, and ranged wells with protection on wells is a pretty nice way to support your team. We aren’t going to fill the “standard” support role like guardians (crapping boons all over the battlefield with good healing), but we have very good healing and support in our own way.
Take a look at the cleric build in my signature. I’ve been quite happy with it for PVE. It has high regen, good healing on revive, good survivability and yet is strong enough that I run it all the time and likely won’t go back to a condition build. Axe/focus would work well with this, too.
Not the ultimate healer, perhaps, but something to give you some ideas. See also Nemesis’ “I will bring you back” build (I think that was the name of it.)
