I occasionally name the pet my exact character name just to mildly add to the confusion in a team PvP fight. I’ve seen some mesmers name themselves after phantasms but I think anet put an end to that.
Usually name my pets after the deadly sins(not always accurate representation, would I wouldn’t mind suggestions lol) with a few exceptions
Fire wyvern- completely useless
Electro wyvern – less useless
Fire drake – wrath
Shark – gluttony
Bristleback – sloth
Tiger/small birds- pride
Sulvari dog ( can’t remember name lol) – wts healz
Black Moa – senior black Moa
Smokescale – staple remover
Anything I think that looks ugly – envy

Kameha Moa (Moa, duh…)

Where red fern grows – fern hound

I’ve used “Faye” with my fern hound, but got out of the practice of renaming pets when I realized the names wouldn’t stick way back then. Haven’t put much thought into doing it again.
Though, one name I like to slap on any pet who’se AI is giving me grief at the time is “Juvenile Delinquent”
On my current Norn Ranger, I have a raven named “Muninn” and a wolf named “Fenrir”. Just decided that picking names of actual Old Norse creatures would be easiest, especially since my Norn has a Norse name (Valka Hrafnageir).
On other toons, I once named a lynx “Lynk”, had a fern hound “Nahele”, ice drake “Jormag”, the electric-spitting drake “Blitzilla”, red moa “Erif”, and many others.

Tarrow Kister is my Guild Wars Ranger name so I named them after my most used pets in rememblance (my current Ranger is a Sylvari and I keep the whole authentic fantasy feel to them meaning Tarrow Kister isn’t a celtic like name).
