One thing needs to be understand. We don’t cry for buffs though it needs it quite much. We would be happy with them fixing the kitten bugs.

At this point. I’m finally giving up and re rolling. I can’t continue to play this gimped class, despite that a bow ranger is all I’ve ever wanted to play. But it’s not fair to the people I run with. I’ll be logging a ticket for a refund for my commander icon since this class is really and truly never going to be fixed.

Ranger is a handicapped profession so don’t worry guys,if u can play on par with other professions,that means ur skills has compensated where the ranger lacks.Once the ranger is on par with other profession,your skills will make u exceed the rest. I don’t think they’ll be giving us any answers as a lot of posts in this thread (and other ranger complaint threads) violates these rules. Don’t get me wrong, I still wish Anet would give us a response as to what they’re working on/fixing for rangers (in the long run?) ~_~

Anet is basically Dean. The community is Lex.

It is probably in their own general best interest to allow the complaint threads and a topic stick around for a while mostly to keep the Ranger stuff mostly in the ranger forums and as such easier to moderate/ignore/whatever.

In all games 90% of the time I play as ranger… And ranger is my first lvl 80 and the rest is lvl 27 below. I am sooo disappointed how bad rangers play in WvW. I’m lvling my other characters but I still want a good Ranger.

You won’t ever get one, Nicola. God forbid they buff us so we can compete, we’d be able to put a dent in daddy’s holy trinity, the guardian, thief and elementalist.

Yeah, I’ve waited since release for my ranger to come close to being as effective as my warrior as I like the ranger play style better. I’m thinking it will probably never happen, and if it does it will likely be long after I’ve quit this game.

Rangers don’t just need a buff, they need a complete rework of their traits and utility skills.

Yup I agree… they need rework not just buff.
I want to switch my ranger lvl to my engineer. I still love rangers cuz I love pets and I love bows and swords, but when I tried WvW using my low lvl engineer… I can do more help than my ranger! And my ranger is lvl 80!

Last straw for me today, in wvw full tough melee build with spirits, spirits are complete kitten, die in afew hits, resummon every minute, have to wait for cooldowns on their death, kitten buff % chances, whats the point?, summon die summon die summon die.. in the meantime i got a thief hammering at me probably laughing his kittening head off and toying with me, and yeah ive tried trap builds slightly better, but same outcome, ranger dead. The other viable option ive found and play the most is glass cannon crowd control with lb/sb piercing arrows, but even with tough/vit gear as a glass cannon you obviously aint gonna last to long if someone wants to target you, ive tried almost every build i can find within reason, different gear, all the weapons…. Im giving up on this class, its potential is gimped, thanks for making me wait all these kittening months expecting a great revamp from the balance team, thanks alote…

They should allow profession swapping once you hit 80. Why should we get stuck spending 60 gold to craft up a replacement character?

No, i want them to finally admit what bullkitten they do with every patch. I want them to be honest, and not mark huge nerfs as some kitten “animation fix”. I want them to finally stop lieing and say that they know that Ranger is kittening kitten and that they’re working on it, while meaning it.

A little more transparency would be appreciated, but no one is ever happy with a nerf, but it can lead to better acceptance of the change if they where more clear on the whys of those changes, that and maybe if they handed out some more of those changes (nerf/fix) across the professions.

Buying the game putting in the hours into your character is time and money spent playing the game. When you neglect your fan base like this it only fuels 3rd party vendors that wish to fill that void in whatever way possible.
In the 6 months I’ve played I’ve never once heard anyone say they would like a ranger for a dungeon run.

No no, they buffed withdraw, the skill that makes the thief take a huge roll backwards, with the bonus of clearing immobilize / chill / cripple. Possibly because it didn’t fill a niche nearly as securely as hide in shadows (the healing skill that stealths a thief) and signet of malice (healing on attack) did. So making it have a slightly disproportionate heal makes it attractive enough to consider in the general case.

If they’ve been “quietly working on it” they should have more to show for it by now. I’ve been keeping an eye on the patch notes looking for an excuse to log back into the game for over three months now and I have yet to see anything significant regarding the ranger.

Also never pointing out issues or expressing one’s frustration always helps the developers make a better game because no wait it doesn’t.

I loved this game when I started playing it. I thought it was a real WoW killer, until I played a ranger.. Now that I see how biased the devs are and how little they care to make improvements and fix a broken class that’s been in glaringly obvious need of fixing since day one, I realize I’m considering uninstalling and looking for something new. Because once rangers are fixed, if ever, who’s to say they do the same to the next profession?
This isn’t as much about 1 profession as it is about those running the game having some vague value system making them desire to keep the game going and doing well. If they have no desire to fix obvious issues, what’s next? Oh the water pipes are leaking? it’s ok it’s just water.. no one will notice… oh the electricity is going out? eh it’s ok we can live with it. Tenants are complaining? eh don’t worry about it, they love the place, they won’t leave… oh the building is on fire? eh the fire department will take care of it.. oh we got not building(game) anymore because of lack of upkeep and now people have left? hmm… maybe we should have fixed that water pipe leak in the first place….. think about it Anet

You make a great point, except for the fact that this post is 4 months old. Go read the first few pages of this post it is all positive. Countless people thanking devs for merely stating that intended fixes to ranger didn’t work but they were working on them.

4 months without communication or a single follow up post outlining issues they are having implementing their fixes to the class is unacceptable. The community is not outraged at the lack of fixes for their class so much as the fact that there has been no communication from anet at all. This is purely a failure on their part, a simple post much like the original post in this thread would have stopped all this instantly.

We don’t want a balanced class instantly, that may take time, we want to be treated like real customers, that should have started on the day the first presale game was sold.

I am so close to just uninstalling this game. I have given it six months. I’ve made gem purchases to show my support, even though there’s nothing really exciting to buy in the gemstore. But patch after patch and what have we seen? Chipping away at professions like it’s some kind of side project, after ancillary features like guild missions. Guild missions, alternative svp modes and new maps are fine, but not when the core of the game is rotten.

Every profession, not just rangers, suffer from bloated, cobbled together, senseless traits and mediocre utility skills. This whole, tinker with one or two things a month isn’t cutting it. At this rate, it’ll be years before things are worked out. I had thought that we would be seeing new skills and new weapons by this point.

Please, instead of developing new features, pull the dev team together and, over the next few months, focus on professions. Fix the fundamentals. Priority a-number 1.

I know right? How dare we expect services rendered for what we payed? It’s ludicrous!

This isn’t some charity and it’s not some f2p k-mmo. This is a AAA title that we all paid premium game prices for with the expectation and promise of regular maintenance and updates, even more so when it became abundantly obvious that they shipped an unfinished product.

We may lack common decency, but it gets things done faster than being a complacent doormat.

Ok, now I had a fully geared 80 mesmer, a nice geared 80 warrior, a fully geared 80 ranger, and a 20 thief. Currently working on thief, future guardian and ele.

For dungeons, I have carefully observed the group contribution of ranger, mesmer, and warrior. With a full zerker build, mesmer(sword/focus) and warrior(gs) deal the most damage, provide great group buff, and have decent survival chance as glassy cannons. Ranger, however, sucks so much because not only feline dies really quick but also the cooldowns on survival skills are just too long. Ramage As One is on of the best dps elite skill(same level as warrior’s elite signet) but there will be no significant damage bonus if my pet is down and swapping pet is on cooldown. With support build, warrior gives decent buffs(banners and shouts) and combo fields(longbow), mesmer apply too many buffs/debuffs(staff) and group ultility(time warp, illusion of life, null field, and feedback that allows me to solo TA spider boss), and ranger… I can’t really think about anything =/ Spirit? Yeah I was on full spirit build for a week and none of my spirit will last more than 30 seconds—even if I placed them properly. No need to mention I have to hide my pet in case it will go aggro some nasty creeps because of its weird movement. So why should I use my ranger on dungeon runs for both my pleasure and my group’s effectiveness?

For PvP, I usually use my mesmer(staff with prec/tough/condi), guardian(healing and condition), warrior(quickness 100b), and thief(dagger storm+stealth skills). I could easily kill any ranger that is the same PvP level as me, and may need to suffer a bit if they are like lvl 40 in PvP(but not often since I believe only few people will use ranger when they are above lvl 20 in PvP. They will usually use warrior, thief, and ele imo). I do use my ranger sometime and found ranger is extremely effective against toughness build engineer, but thats all. Most of the time I will be kitten by mainstream classes(yes, I know how to dodge and when to dodge and what to dodge). One thing I find very interesting is that ranger players usually have some bad temper: /laugh after they killed you or shout out when I continuously quickly kill them for a period of time. So why should I use my ranger not only because the ranger community sucks in some way but also I am getting much better result from other professions? Though I quit PvP like 2 weeks ago cause I don’t like bragging on how many ppl I have killed and how I could “possibly” win the duel between you and me, but on how many ppl I have helped(Queensdale and answering whatever questions or helping skillpoints/heart/vista is what I am talking about).

As for general PvE, this is the only area I like to use my ranger but only on specific tasks like: gathering, getting skillpoints that are heavily guarded, and roaming. I was using my ranger solo farming orr(cause I wasn’t able to tag anything with zerg) till I found out that my warrior could tag almost everything even with a huge zerg(much more effective). So I will use ranger a little bit but thats it.

When come to WvW, I didn’t even touch my ranger after they patch the Guard skill. Thief can eliminate reinforcement, mesmer can do ninja portal, and warrior can mess with anything. Ranger? Heck no.

I believe that some ppl are in love with their ranger no matter how bad the profession is—even defending it by saying they can play it well but I cannot. Please think about you group, you guild, and you server: What advantage have you brought as a ranger? Will the advantage be more significant if you are playing another profession? It is good for you to have some different opinion, but I love my group, my guild, and my server so I want to be more than a ranger.

It’s funny to see that only one dev plays and cares about rangers and actually communicates with players. Anet needs more devs like Robert Hrouda.
