I main thief and war and switch as the meta goes (lets just say wars not doing so good atm)

thief is meant to be single target precision hitter but this is massively negated by the amount of blocks flying around Revs Crystal hibernation for example is on a 25s cooldown and can be traited so it passively procs and most of the time you just have to sit their wait for them to heal up so you can start over again

My suggestions (the changes are in bold)

(Thief off hand pistol skill 4)
Headshot
Daze your foe with a head shot.
Unblockable
Damage: 84 (0.25)?
Daze: ¼s
Combo Finisher: Physical Projectile
Range: 900

thats it nothing fancy no damage increase just 1 skill being unblockable. being able to counter some stuff if timed correctly would bring thiefs very much into the meta

and while we are at it

(Thief main hand pistol skill2)
Body Shot
Make your foe vulnerable with a body shot.
Damage: 61 (0.25)?
5 Vulnerability (3s): 5% Incoming Damage, 5% Incoming Condition Damage
Immobilize (1s): Unable to move.
Evade: ¾s
Distance: 400
Combo Finisher: Physical Projectile
Range: 900

yep just have the skill 2 on pistol work like skill 4 on war rifle

Assassin signet
Passive: Grants increased power.
Unblockable
Active: Deal 15% more damage on your next five attacks.
Power Increase: 180 Power Deal 15% more damage on your next five attacks.5 Assassin’s Signet (20s): Deal 15% more damage on your next five attacks

I thought just incase the unblockable off hand was a little to strong maybe having this signet give 5 unblockable hits would be better just like the war signet

Definitely no to headshot buff. A change to assassin signet could make the full signet burst build even more silly. (kind of weak right now though) So maybe a buff would work there, but I’d be worried about complaints from all the guardians and mesmer getting blown up in wvw. Not sure I like unblockable effects on thief to be honest. (outside traps)

I really think thief needs an overhaul of many of it’s less used skills. However, taking the meta and making it stronger should only happen once they nerf necro, rev, guard, engie, and bug fix (ele). Once these classes are brought back to earth, I doubt any of the thieves meta skills will need changes, and the focus should be on helping things like Tripwire, ambush trap, signet of shadows, ice drake venom, shadow trap, etc. So many skills just never get used, and it would be really great to find a place for them.

Edit: I wanted to add, I thought of a skill I would like unblockable on: cloak and dagger. Or decrease it’s initiative cost.

definately NOT a good idea.
if you want to make stuff unblockable you could start with, Thorw Gunk and Mace Head Crack. That would be a forwarding change w/o overtuning already strong stuff.

Agreed the off hand change could be to strong but I do like the signet idea maybe rework it a little maybe instead of the kittens with 15% increases to damage it just makes kittens inblockable I like this becz I always carry signet of agility on my bar and I would gladly switch it out if their where going to lots of blocks giving me a choice more evades or getting my damage down
