Can we have sword 2 become instant?
I remember when it was instant it made thieves nearly impervious to any cc. I would keep my return up at all times and use it as an escape when I got knocked down or stunned. it didn’t break them but it would move me away from my opponent long enough for it to wear off.
It shouldn’t be instant (because that’s usable while cc’d), but it also shouldn’t be a stupid long cast time.
You shouldn’t be able to use it while cc’d, but you should be able to use it nearly instantly when you’re not cc’d. Else it defeats the purpose of reactionary play.
However, posting in thief forum is pointless, because nobody actually reads the thief forum, nor do they care about thief. If they did, the Unload bug, where it applies 4s of Might instead of the intended 8 would have been fixed by now. I also noticed someone talking to Karl (the dev in charge of thief) directly on yesterday’s stream, and still it went ignored.

Oh… wonderful :/
S/d init costs are high enough as it is aswell, fs/ls in total 6 or 8 init whether it procs is harsh, meanwhile c&d is 6 init, in comparison staff is less initiative hungry, it has no split skills, but still good sustained dps and a strong #5 aoe attack costing just 5 init.
Infiltrator’s Strike/Return used to be a stun breaker and instant, they removed the stun breaker bit and then added an animation and cast time to it though.
Plays completely opposite professions to his main Teef.

Yep. Notice how they did ANOTHER patch today, fixing bugs, yet didn’t fix the Unload bug still.
I bet anything that 1-2 months down the line, they’ll claim that the patch notes and the in-game tooltip was all wrong and they intended it to be 4s, and not 8.
Used to be instant before, was kinda OP since it allowed it to be used while stunned ( it was technically a stunbreak way before , that’s how OP sword used to be )
Nooctae ( Thief ) / Encelya ( Engineer ) / Jane Crimson ( Elementalist ) / Kowywr ( Revenant )
Europe, Vizunah.

You are not alone, he seems to be doing the same with guardians too.
Sonya for females. (necro,rev,ranger,mes,engi)
All classes lvl 80.
There are those skills that say in the description that they have no cast time but in reality they have 0.1s cast time like Headshot, Shadow Shot, Dust Devil, The Prestige, etc.
Infiltrator’s Return should be one of these. This way you still can’t use it while CC’d but you can teleport back much safer.

I don’t think this needs to happen. I like that there’s some reactive counterplay to Infiltrator’s Return – it was really silly when it was instant. It still removes a condition and provides amazing tactical mobility at 1200 range so it’s a great weapon still.
I think its a well designed skill, it’s just that post HoT is full of terribly designed skills that don’t have any opportunity costs like Infiltrator’s Strike/Return rightfully has.

Yes but currently Anet has shown they won’t remove the power creep so they should adjust existing skills and revert nerfs accordingly, especially with Aoe and passive cc being thrown around so easily nowadays and with Thief still having no reliable access to stab why not give a pseudo stun break?
instant sword 2 was one of the reasons why sd and acro got butchered on first place
so no, ty
i will keep repeat this as long as necessary, if they nerf revs and scrappers we will be way better off
[Teef] guild :>
Imo only the initial tp to enemy should be instant, allowing more fluid comboing, the return is fine being near instant but having a very small cast time so it cant be a “stun break”.
If we got a buff like this and possibly a buff making the first sword auto near instant I think we would have a viable s/d build on our hands. Right now staff is superior which makes me sad because I find the play style for that weapon so boring.

As someone whos played S/P to an extent in the first league and still enjoys it.
I would greatly enjoy beeing able to precast Pistolwip into a Sword#2 Shadowstep.
Removing the cast time on the return chain would be too strong.
Thoug I can see how this would be enjoyable :P
As for the iniative cost im not sure, maaaaybe a decrease would be ok, using just one chain of Sword 2 drains a lot of iniative allready, and severaly limits to casting a single smokefield, pistolwhip or head shot.
The cost isn’t so bad, due to the amount of mobility it gives you, what they need to do is stop making s/d initiative hungry, increases to fs, doesn’nt make sense, which it’s so hard to proc for ls, it made sense when you could spam #3, now you have to be careful, but even then it can be blocked or avoided easily.

Instant fine so long as it’s not usable during the effects of CC.
It used to be a stunbreak/CC-usable, and as people have mentioned above, it was wildly OP. That said, the long animation really does suck.

bad idea. it was nerfed for a reason. in this state it is totally fine. the aftercast hurts as allways but w/e. too bad random d/p players can rupt it accidently with uncontrolled HS spam for 4k impact damage. that hurts tho.
The buffs I’m asking for don’t even put s/d ahead of staff in potential imo, I feel like anet butchered s/d and was just like, “here you go, acro thief 2.0 but this time you use a staff”
but staff is only great for vualt spamming with bound, or pve. s/d is pretty powerful already (once again) it may not sting as much as staff in dps wise but it is far better with its mobilty and 5 boon steal with traited bountiful theft. giving intsa cast on #2 would just be broken and would probably never be able to pin high skilled s/d thives down. its already hard enough to put 1 down now if the said thief dosnt want to die.
